Help!!!  My Blues are Printing Purple

I am using windows 8.1 printing from Lightroom.  I calibrated my monitor with an X-rite Color Munki Photo.  At first I thought it was Prophoto vs Adobe RGB, but my latest print shows that is not the problem.
I printed from Lightroom with Lightroom managing color (I checked for out of gaumit color, and manually brought colors back into gaumit).  My Blue sky was Purple.
I printed from Lightroom with printer managing color.  My Blue sky again was Purple
I printed from Windows Photo Viewer (standard windows viewer) with printer managing color.  My Blue sky was Blue, and matched my monitor pretty well.
Any help would be appreciated.  I want to use all the features of Lightroom.
Here is a jpg of the file I'm trying to print.

I have an epson 3880 with Windows 8.1 with epson glossy photo paper.  I downloaded the icc profile from epson, and made sure the printer was not managing color.  I downloaded the latest drivers from epson.  I softproof, and bring the out of gamut colors in gamut, and make a proof copy.  For landscape, I use perceptual rendering intent.

  • Blue flower prints purple from PS CS3

Hi. This is driving me crazy!!! I am using WinXP/Home, Adobe RGB 1998 Color profile for both the image and Photoshop CS3. I print on Epson R2400, have freshly and properly installed inks and nozzles are not clogged. I have an image of a blue flower, and I do mean blue, not purple and not lavender. It is definitely blue on the monitor. It is blue in Bridge. It is blue in its jpg format and in its .psd format. When I print using the printer with Photoshop as color manager and print management off, the result is a purple flower. All the other colors in the image seem to be fine---green is green, yellowish is yellowish. When I print using printer color management(settings all properly done), NOT Photoshop's, I end up with a blue flower! Anyone with any ideas at all why this happens? I sure would appreciate knowing! I can do the workaround by letting the printer manage color, but seems to me that Photoshop really ought to be doing this. I have not noted problems with any other colors...only blue!

The magenta shift is NOT a matter of CIELab, it's IMO
    an optical illusion.
    Please look here
    http://www.fho-emden.de/~hoffmann/hlscone03052001.pdf
on page 2, Outside top view of the HLS cone:
At 255° = 270°-15° we have at the border fully
saturated blue and in the middle white. The inter-
polation shows halfways not medium saturated blue
but medium saturated blue with a magenta tint.
One can test this further by gradients in PhS:
    Foreground
    R'G'B'=c1/c1/255 delivers Lab=L1/a1/b1
Now use the same lightness L1 but no saturation:
    Background
    Lab=L1/0/0 delivers R'G'B'=c2/c2/c2
    Depending on c1 (e.g. 0 or 70), one can see a
magenta tint approximately in the middle.
A first test (unequal lightness) can be done by
    Foreground
    R'G'B'=0/0/255
    Background
    R'G'B'=255/255/255
By the way: all interpolations by gamma encoded
RGB-numbers (therefore written R'G'B'). The effect
would be essentially the same for linear RGB, because
I'm adding equal values R'=G' to full B'.
The solution is not the replacement of Lab (which is
not involved in the test above), but the application
of a correction in order to compensate the optical
    illusion.

  • Blue color printing purple

I am having a problem with my iMac that correctly displays blue text, but is printing it as purple.  I have seen several threads about this topic online, but no real answers.
Ble photo images print correctly, but not blue text.  The same blue text on my Mac Air prints correctly using the same printer.
    Any suggestions

  • Blue prints purple with Canon ICC profiles

    Hi,
I am printing a "printer evaluation image" (http://www.outbackprint.com/printinginsights/pi049/essay.html) with my Canon Pro 9000 (Mk I). When selecting System Managed on the ColorSync option in the print dialog everything prints perfect. (Of course I have selected the correct paper under media in the driver)
When selecting the paper ICC profile in the ColorSync option blue turns into purple in the printer dialog image, same things goes for the print (at least it matches...). All other colors, skin tones etc looks perfect.
So it seems to me like everything is ok as long as the printer handles the color management, but when Aperture 2 handles it something goes wrong.
I have spent several hours googling the problem, as well as double checking all setting, driver version etc. I have tried different papers and the problem is consistent. Both OSX and Aperture version is up to date.
Anyone with similar problem? Is it an Aperture problem or is it the Canon ICC profiles?
    Thomas

    Hi,
Here is an update for those who are interested:
I believe I have been able to isolate the problem to Aperture. This is what I did:
Step 1). Used Keynote to make a 100% Blue square and exported that to a 16-bit TIFF.
Step 2). Imported the TIFF into Aperture, used the DigitalColor Meter utility to ensure it was 100% Blue. Print: Selected the Canon Pro9000 PR1 Profile, In the print settings selected Photo Paper Pro II and set quality to high. Preview is purple AND print is purple.
Step 3). Then imported the TIFF into Pixelmator, again with DigitalColor Meter utility ensured that it was still 100% Blue. Print: Under Color matching menu selected Color Sync and Canon Pro PR1 Profile, under Quality and Media menu selected Photo Paper Pro II and set quality to high. Preview is Blue AND print is Blue!!
To me this seems to indicate the following:
1). The Canon driver is good - Works perfectly with Pixelmator
2). The Canon Pro9000 PR1 profile is fine - works perfectly with Pixelmator
3). The Printer is fine - again... Pixelmator
4). Even though my system is not color calibrated, it is quite good - Preview match print with Pixelmator.
That leaves Aperture and how it handles ICC profiles with the Canon Pro9000 driver...
Anybody else able to confirm this?

  • InDesign CS6 - Appearance of blues are desaturated - Help!

This issue just started for me today. All bright, vibrant blues are appearing as muddy and desaturated. I've changed the transparency blend space, the color settings, and did everything else I could think of including restarting the program.
I've looked everywhere for a solution to this, but the only thing I found suggested changing the transparency blend space...which I tried several times.
    Please help!

A mix.. weirdly for some new and only some old. I ended up creating a new document and transferring everything into that and it seems ok with overprint preview turned off, for now. Thanks for all your help everyone

  • Help - My photos are not printing properly - highly pixelated ty

I have a new installation of PSE 10.  With my ancient Photoshop 6.0, photos printed fine in black & white on 20lb bond paper using my HP LaserJet 2100TN.  With PSE 10 my jpg & gif photos are printing in lrg pixels similar to a newspaper comic rather than normally.  I can't figure out what settings need to be changed.  Any ideas out there?
The color photo is the actual jpg, and the blk & wht is a photo I just took of how it printed.
    Thanks in advance!!

I still have my ancient Photoshop  6.0.1 copyright 1989-2001 installed, and when I use it, it prints o.k. (well, not beautiful, but looks like a photo ).  If I print through windows it's o.k. too, it's just PSE 10 that it's pixellated like that, which is why I think it must have something to do with PSE 10.  The black & white photo above that shows the pixels, is actually a photograph that I took of the printout.  What I did with the one below is to print it on paper, scan the printout to PDF, then opened the PDF in PSE10 and saved it as JPG then uploaded it here. so it is more "true"

  • Colors are printing incorrectly when exported to PDF but print fine from InDeisgn and Photoshop

Documents I create in Photoshop and InDesign and export to PDF print in different/wrong colors. The colors are fine when printed directly from Photoshop or InDesign, they look correct when viewing the PDF, but change when printed from the PDF (specifically blues print as purple). How do I fix this?

This really sounds like a color management issue.
How are you creating the PDF files from InDesign or Photoshop? We recommend using the PDF/X-4 settings for proper printing from Acrobat or any direct PDF RIP/printer.
Also would like to know what type of printer you are printing to.

  • All the Pages are Printed - Document Printing Sales Orders

When using the Document Printing option for Sales Orders, if I select multiple documents and select print I get a message after each document that says "All the Pages are Printed", then the next document comes for printing. I also get a prompt each time whether or not to print Sales Order only or Sales Order and Pick List.
I don't have the same issue if printing Invoices from Document Printing. It asks what to print and prints all records without additional prompts between each record. I don't see anything in Print Preferences that would cause the Order to act differently from the Invoice.
    We are using B1 9.0 PL 06.

  • Light blue "finger" print spot on display

    I have a 20" Cinema display.
I have noticed a light blue area on the display.
You can see it if the background is white.
I noticed if you have a white gradient into red, as you pass this through the affected area, this spot is darker in the transition area.
These aren't dead pixels but it looks almost like a finger print between the back lighting and the LCD.
Any idea what this is and if it can be fixed?

Without a picture it is hard to determine if this is the effect you are experiencing. Check this link and if so you will want to have it serviced before you warranty expires:

I had this effect on a Dell laptop and they replaced the LCD assembly for me as a result agreeing that it was defective.

  • [HELP NEED] Delivery Note Printing

Printouts are printing in the correct device, but Delivery notes are still printing in the old device.
Can anyone suggest where we could configure the output device for the Delivery notes printing?
Checked already in SPAD/UNIX and the printer (output device) is already pointing to the correct and new IP address.
Appreciate any help on this! Thank you!

    Hi Mariel,
    Please validate following points
    1) Check the nace configuration for the output type used. you normally specially the default printer name for the output type in nace.
    2) Check which printer is selected for your output type in VL02N.
    3) In the driver program check which printer is passed to NAST-DEST
    4) Also check which is you default printer on your computer. if you have set up locl as the printer type in nace  then it will always pickup the default printer on your computer.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks
