HELP!!! My Card reader is not working!

My card reader is not working and this is extremely frustrating when trying to transfer data from one device to my my macbook pro.  Is there any one out there that can help me with this issue?

Some people (me included) have found the problme to be a stuck contact inside the socket on the MacBook Pro.  The far left contact appears to get stuck in the "inserted" position (depressed) and fails to signal to the computer that a new card has been inserted.  This contact is partially hidded behind an alignment key molded into the socket.  One fix is to carefully (and I mean carefully) use a toothpick to gently prod the contact into its "not-inserted" position (it will pop up and work afterwards).  If you aren't comfortable doing this yourself, you can get an inexpensive card reader that connects via USB as a workaround.
If the computer is still under warranty (or you have AppleCare), take it in and let Apple or an AASP fix it for you.

To me the case is simple and the reason why the SD card reader does not work is that an compatible driver isnt installed.
My theory seems to be correct since the SM bus controller and PCI simple communications controller appear in the device manager and I guess one of these devices belongs to the SD card reader/controller.
I think you should simply install this Realtek Card Reader Controller which I found on the Toshiba EU driver page
    http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/carc-20130924161048.zip
Furthermore you should install all other Win 7 drivers as well as Toshiba tools available for Satellite C850 series.
Very important is the chipset driver, USB 3.0 driver (Win 7 needs this driver to control the USB 3.0 port), display driver. etc
Not very essential tools are Bulletin Board, Online Product information, Reeltime, etc such additional tools dont improved the notebook performance so its up to you if you want to use these software parts

  • SD card reader is not working in my MBP early 2011. Is there any solution?

SD card reader is not working in my MBP early 2011. Is there any solution?

on my macbook iphoto didn't recognise my camera or card reader after upgrading to iphoto '11,
Evenutally I went to an application called Image Capture which I seem to have already.  This read the camera contents.  I selected the images I wanted and then imported them into iphoto which was one of the options given.  It worked.  God knows why one has to go through two steps.  But I'm feeling pretty triumphant. This may help you if you haven't already sorted it.

The Microsoft tun miniport adapters #4,2, and 3 are not working.  They display code 10 error message. Also the USB  mass storage device (camera card reader) is not working.
I have tried to uninstall and update the drivers to no avail.  I have used ThinkVantage Tool Box.  It only lets me know that they are not working.  It does say to reinstall them.  I have tried.  All effort has failed.
All was find until I ran several updates via ThinkVantage.

And what does any of that have to do with Adobe software? You better check your hardware setup and install the proper driver for whatever card reader you use...

  • Numeric key pad is not working, card reader is not working

Numeric key pad is not working, card reader is not working,

Did you (or someone else) physically open the laptop case?
If you did, then some cables might have gone loose inside.
If you didn't, for the card reader, check if appropriate device drivers are installed in windows device manager.
for the numeric keypad, first tap once on the NUM LOCK key and check.
If this doesn't solve the problem, boot to "Safe mode", and check.

  • SD photo card reader is not working; not recognized by PC (HP Envy 700-414) running Windows 8.1

My SD photo card reader suddenly stopped working - I get an error message to the effect that USB device not recognized.  How do I get this working again?

    Hello @mnskier,
I understand that your SD Card Reader has stopped working. I think you should do a backup and recovery of your computer to ensure that you do not have a hardware issue. The best way to do that is to replace the software so you have ruled out settings or a bad driver as possible causes. To backup your personal information and ensure that it is not lost I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), which will ensure your personal files are up to date.
***WARNING!! If you want to keep any emails or bookmarks/favorites you will want to back those up as well as I do not believe they are backed up in the HP Backup process.
Next, I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8), which will you through recovering your computer back to factory settings.
*** IMPORTANT - Your personal files such as libraries, personalization settings, user accounts, and desktop themes are permanently removed. As well the computer settings are returned to the defaults (the way it was when it came from the factory). All apps and software that were installed on the computer when it came from the factory are reinstalled, and their settings are reset to the defaults. Additionally, software, apps, programs, and everything that you have installed or saved on the computer are permanently removed.

  • Tecra 9000: SD card reader will not work with XP

I have made some progress with this subject, it seems that Cardbus devices cannot share IRQs, although the main issue is that the memory address FFDFB200-FFDFB3FF is shared by both the SD card controller and the SD Card Memory Device. Unless a way to modify the registry can be found to resolve this memory conflict, the simple answer is that the SD card reader won't work under XP.
I think this would take some major surgery of the registry or re-writing of the drivers to move the memory address used by the SD card device, I am still working on this for now.
Can someone from Toshiba Support or Toshiba Marketing please explain to me why my Tecra T9100 has a sticker with "Designed for Windows XP and Windows 2000" on it, when Toshiba don't fully support XP on the 9000 series?
    David

    Hi David
Unfortunately, I dont think that you will find here someone from Toshiba marketing or other departments. This is ONLY a user to user forum.
What you say is simply NOT true.
The Tecra 9000 was delivered with 3 different OS.
It was delivered with Windows XP Pro, W2k and Win98. You can order all this Toshiba images from the Toshiba service partner. Therefore Tecra 9000 does support Windows XP!
Tecra 9100 was delivered with Windows XP and Windows 2000 and supports also Windows XP!
Of course there are different models with different hardware configuration but all supports WinXP.
I dont know why you get this error message or why you cannot use the SD card but I assume you dont use the Toshiba image. Therefore you have installed your OS not correctly. Because youre a newbie you dont know that the whole Toshiba driver installation must be done in the right order and all the Microsoft QFEs must be also installed.
As you see you have to pay attention to many important things if you want to install the OS manually.
    Have a nice day

  • Win8.1 on a new E540 - Card Reader Does not work

    Hallo,
I just got my new E540 (i5, 4GB, FreeDos) this weekend and installed Win8.1 64 Bit Pro. After some trouble with drivers, it seems thant everything works - except the Flash Card Reader. I tried to install the driver from the Lenovo Support Center and directly from Realtek - both installations work but not the card reader.
It seems thant Windows (?) cannot identify. Probably that is what the device manager means with "PCI Device" and "Unknwon Device" (sorry for the german screenshot).
    Can somebody help me?
    Kind regards
    C.D.

    Hi,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m really sorry to hear that you had trouble finding PCI device drivers for your Lenovo Thinkpad E540.
First of all, you need to find the Hardware ID of the device for which you need the drivers.
     1. Right click on the device that you need to identify, then choose properties.
     2. Once you have the properties Windows Click on the details tab.
     3. On the details tab Choose Hardware ID on the Property Drop down box.
    Eg: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_10F5&SUBSYS_20EE17AA&REV_03
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
Go to PCI DATABASE and enter the DEV value into the device search. Find the matching VEN value from the results and that would be the exact driver you require for your system.
Hope this helps! Post back if you face any difficulties in installing the specified driver.
    Best regards,
    Mithun.

  • Media Card Reader does not work on W541 (is O2Micro, not the RealTek)

Can not read an SD card on my W541.  It reads fine on a W530. Reviewed the ReadMe, and tried to find the driver in the WIndows "Device Manager" but no luck.Experimented and found that if I did the following:Brought up Device ManagerUnder "View" menu, chose "Devices by Type" (this should really be in the instructions, although perhaps not necessary).Under "Action" menu, chose "Scan for hardware changes"found that the node labelled "Storage Controller" finally appeared (towards the bottom, just above "Storage Volumes")  There was one entry under the node, that of "ByHubTech/O2Micr Integrated MMC/SD controller".  The icon preceding this entry had a yellow triangle, so at least the system detected something was wrong. Right clicked on the entry and chose "Properties" and resulting dialog had the following text in the "Device Status" area (on the "General" tab): This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use.
    (Code 12)
If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. I have no idea what "resources" are being referred to in the message (a case of "I've got a secret"?), so it is a little hard for me to understand what other devices I might want to free up. Bios is version 2.20The "BayHubTEch/O2Micro Integrated MMC/SD controller" driver version is 2.2.2.1057 (which is the latest as of 6/26/2015).Runnin Win 7 Enterprise + SP1, 32GB RAM.

    Hello,
I don't have a W541 myself, but here are a few things to check, in no particular order:
Have you checked with your IT department?  Maybe they set a poilicy to disable the card reader.
Is the card reader correctly enabled in the UEFI firmware?
Have you run ThinkVantage System Update and Microsoft Update to confirm all of the various Lenovo and Microsoft updates are installed?
Do you still have the OS image the device originally shipped with?  If so, does the card reader work under that?
    Regards,
    Aryeh Goretsky
