After researching found out iPod had metadata_ndex_never and will not sync...how do I fix this?

As mentioned in this article, reinstalling iTunes will not delete your music and apps, but backing up is always a good idea.
iTunes Store purchases or songs imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default and are not deleted by removing iTunes. While it is highly unlikely that you will lose any contents of your iTunes Library when following these steps, it is always a good idea to ensure that your iTunes library is backed up. After updating iTunes to 10.2.1 my 4G Touch will not show up in Windows XP to charge or to sync. I have been reading this forum and following the multiple Apple help and troubleshooting steps with no luck. I can get Windows to recognize and charge the Touch as a camera but it will not update the driver for Apple Mobile Device. I have come to the conclusion it is an Apple software problem. Does anyone know where I can get the previous Apple Mobile Device driver for Windows XP? I would like to give that a try. It's really disappointing....

Upon uninstalling and re-installing all of the Apple software nothing has changed. I can see Apple Mobile Device Support in add/remove programs but when clicking on "repair" it cannot finish and says it encountered a fatal error and no changes have been made.
The error I get trying to install the driver in Device Manager says "I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request".
Does anyone have any suggestions?

The ipod is initially connected to my computer, I can see it when I look on devices in my computer. However, when it finishes syncing it is no longer detected to my computer. I cannot transfer any of my songs to my new laptop because of this. I have tried to reinstall itunes, reset my ipod and use a different port. None of these things worked. Any ideas?

It sounds like your iPod Nano is not appearing in either Windows, or iTunes on your computer. I would use the troubleshooting from the following article to help isolate and resolve the issue:

1. Start with the iPod Troubleshooting Assistant
If you haven't already done so, use the iPod Troubleshooting Assistant that applies to your iPod. This will often solve your issue.

The most likely solutions are listed below (for both USB and FireWire (IEEE 1394) iPod connections). Check each section starting from the top of the list to see if that is what's keeping your iPod from appearing.

My ipod touch will not charge or turn on. I think the battery went dead, but now it won't even turn on or charge. My computer does not even recognize that it is plugged in. I have tried to charge it on other devices and get the same result. Can anyone help?

TRY GEORGE GUERRERO'S ANSWER FIRST.
Plug it into the computer for about 15 minutes.
If it starts to turn on after about 15 minutes then unplug it.
As it is turning on hold down BOTH THE POWER AND THE HOME BUTTON on the itouch for 15 seconds, or until it flashes white or just turns back off.
Then RELESE THE POWER BUTTON BUT STILL HOLD DOWN THE HOME BUTTON.
Then plug it back in.
The computer should reconise your ipod.

Not unless you choose the Erase and Sync option. However, you won't be able to transfer content from the iPod to iTunes via iTunes or sync any new content to it until you restore the iPod or choose the erase and sync option. So if you need to get the contents of your iPod moved over to your PC, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering different ways to accomplish this.

PLEASE HELP! My Ipod touch will not play anything from or in itunes.

I don't know what to do. For the first 4 months everything was great then all of a sudden my Ipod would no longer play anything from or in itunes. I can not transfer anything from itunes to it either. It looks like it has been transferred on the ipod and in itunes under my device but it will not play anything. I can download directly into the ipod and its fine. I listen to audio books from library sites as well as buy them but now it does not work unless it can go directly in the ipod which library sites need to come from your computer and them be transferred after its downloaded. Can anyone help me? I even have a brand new ipod thinking it was the other one but its not. I have windows 7 64 bit. Also I have uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing changes. Thank you.

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Next restore from backup
- Last, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

IPod Touch will NOT show up in My Computer only in iTunes.

It seems that ever since the 1.1.3 update, I have not been able to have my iPod show up in My Computer to be used as a flash drive. Normal flash drives work and my older video iPod works, but not the iPod Touch.
I have upgraded to the new iTunes and Quicktime. At first (after upgrading iTunes) I saw an icon saying found Apple iPod. But then nothing. I can see it in Device Manager, but not in My Computer or even under Disk Management. What the heck???? Can anyone help me?

As the others have said, there is no firmware version of the iPod touch that supports Disk Use.
However there are alternatives out there for a small fee.

Ipod Nano2 is not recognized by PC/itunes. After restarting the iPod and switch to disk mode "ok to disconnect" appears instead on "do not disconnect".

So even in Disk Mode the iPod is not recognized by your PC or iTunes software? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port? Have you tried a different USB sync cable to verify that your current cable isn't faulty or damaged?
I assume you are using the latest version of iTunes correct?

I installed Firefox on my Mac today (Mac OS 10.5.8) However File>New does not open browser window. Nothing happens. I rebooted and launced Firefox again but this did not help. I had been using Safari. Firefox is clearly running and I must do a "Force Quit" to quit Firefox.
