Help! My fonts have ruined my life!

I purchased some fonts online and copied them over to my fonts folder under the library.
Since then my website fonts are clear and I can't read anything. I also seem to have done something to parallels because I can't flip over to Vista. Anyone know what I can do to fix this?
Sean

Make sure that your fonts have been copied to your font folder in your user library folder and not the system font library folder.

  • Help - Font issues are ruining my life.

I need help in getting my fonts under control. There are hundreds of them buried in my system, and they slow program launches down to a crawl. Every time I want to pick a new font to use, I'm confronted with menus that stretch to eternity. I've tried to turn them off in Font Book but it's taking hours trying to run down their location and then deciding which ones to disable. All I want to do is have a simple collection of maybe 12–15 fonts to use in my everyday work. If I could throw all of these usless fonts away I would do it in a second, but I'm afraid I'll dump something of importance. I know, I have a blind spot when it comes to understanding fonts in OS X. Are there any easy ways to regain my sanity?

  • I am pulling my hair out! I am using adobe indesign and just want to make a text box 'autofit text' as I change fonts a lot and want the font to automatically re-size as I change it. help help help please - I have latest version of indesign - thanks

I am pulling my hair out! I am using adobe indesign and just want to make a text box 'autofit text' as I change fonts a lot and want the font to automatically re-size as I change it.
Is it not possible to create a text box, fill it with dynamic (data driven) text, but make the font size either scale up or down automatically, so that the entire text box is filled? This is a feature in PrintShop Mail Pro called COPY FIT. but no such feature in Indesign??
help help help please - I have latest version of indesign - thanks, DJ

lol... it seems to work, but I have another huge problem!
Apparently .CSV files cannot contain page breaks in the data! The data I am trying to merge is a 'letter', with paragraphs, line breaks, etc.,
But, after data merging, it ignores page breaks and only merges the first paragraph of each letter. (sigh)
Solution? Hopefully, an EASY solution. lol as we have thousands of records.
Is there a third party indesign plugin that will allow .xml, or .xls data merge import??
    Thx,
    DJ

  • HT4528 I have no battery life in my iphone 5 since the iOS 7 upgrade.  I have completed all suggestions to help increase the battery power and now I can't use my phone more than 4 hours without the battery dying. What is the solution?

I have no batter in my iphone 5 since upgrading to ios7.  I have talked with verizon techinical support and completed all suggestions to maintain the battery. And by the way, these suggestions are annoying and limit phone use as well as require you to close out each application after use, also turning off wi-fi and blue tooth. I don't need this phone if I can't use the features for which it was purchased! Any ideas?  Is there a fix coming soon for the battery? Can I return my iphone for my old droid?
    Help!

Hi! I don't what's happened for your phone but, you can have more battery life with turning of Wifi, decries brightness, turn off location service and etc. also you shold use less Free+Much Ads apps becuase they use more battery than paid apps normaly.
for more informations about battery normal life see here.
I guess it's not a normal issue. so connect to Apple Care or wait for a better answer...

give it time to boot. the time depends on yr memory size n data. soon a process bar will appear indicating the boot process. if still this doesnt work. try formating the phone. but this ways u lose all data on the phone (unless u backed it). relax! the data on the memory card is safe.

  • Help with Fonts that have trashed my machine

Hi please any help or advice needed.
    I have a 2009 Macbook pro 17" running snow leopard v10.6
I recently made the mistake of installing a 1000 fonts pack.
Installed on my machine I have CS4 Master Suite ...
The 1st issue I noticed immediately was firefox fonts were illegible, I went through font book and fixed all the fonts with the yellow exclamation on...
But now I have a bigger issue I need dreamweaver for webwork that I do and all the program fonts are un readable ...
I have tried re installing CS4 to no avail... I even installed the CS5 demo but no joy ..
I set up a 2nd user on the mac and everything works fine, so I tried just creating a copy font directory fro the new account and installing them in my main account ... this just caused more conflicts
I cant use my 2nd User account as I have cutstudio plugin for a roland cutter and for some very odd reason when I sent to cut off my 2nd user account it only cuts out what the last job was on on my main account
Is there any way I can restore my fonts on my main account without having to re install snow leopard ...
If I do re install snow leopard does it wipe everything ????
    Many thanks in advance

As macjack noted, you can reinstall just the fonts from your OS X installation disk without reinstalling the entire OS. But, it sounds like your bigger issue is that at least one (probably more) of the fonts you installed are bad. Applications displaying the wrong fonts is usually caused by one of two things, sometimes both:
    1) The fonts have incorrect internal names and are conflicting with the font that is supposed to be displaying.
    2) The fonts are damaged. If they are, that in turn damages Font Book's database. Once that happens, you will see incorrect fonts displayed, not being able to activate or deactivate fonts from within Font Book, etc.
So just reinstalling OS X's supplied fonts won't fix the issue by itself. You need to do multiple steps:
    1) Move all of the third party fonts you installed somewhere other than in a Fonts folder. You can just delete them too since you have them on disk.
    2) Reset Font Book. Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup chime to boot into Safe Mode. Keep holding it until OS X asks you to log in (you will get this screen on a Safe Mode boot even if your Mac is set to automatically log in). Let the Mac finish booting to the desktop and then restart normally.
This will reset Font Book's database and clear the cache files in your user account. Any font sets you have created will be gone. Also, all fonts will now be active, regardless of their state beforehand.
    3) Close all running applications. From an administrator account, open the Terminal app and enter the following command:
    sudo atsutil databases -remove
This removes all font cache files. Both for the system and all user font cache files. After running the command, close Terminal and immediately restart your Mac.
Everything should be working correctly at this point. The only reason it wouldn't is if the OS X supplied fonts themselves were damaged.

Sorry to hear about your collections mishap, just keep in mind this is a peer to peer forum for customers and you likely will not receive the help you are looking for from Verizon.
Now you say that the account went to collections and you have paid it. So at this point I am not sure what you can negotiate anymore. I've read that if you have something in collections and tell the collecting company that you will pay them if they remove the negative mark from your credit, they will negotiate it with you.
In this situation, if things are as you say and you did not receive the final bill at the correct address, then you may have an argument to take to the credit bureaus. I would file a report with the credit bureaus and see where that takes me, also once your account goes to collections to my knowledge it doesn't have anything to do with Verizon anymore. The debt is between you and the collections company. I would try to contact them and see if you can somehow negotiate having the collection removed from your credit report seeing as the debt has been settled and the bill was never sent to your correct address.
I haven't really ever dealt with an account in collections, so this is just some helpful information I have thought of, if anything is not accurate in how you can deal with this, I apologize.

What do I have to do in creating a Keynote presentation on my MAC so that when I send it to my iPad, I don't have to re-do the presentation all over again as the fonts have changed, sizing has changed and everything is basically a mess?
I have downloaded many of my previous Keynote presentation into my new ipad mini and not ONE has opened properly
Rather defeats the purpose of icloud, synching, Keynote on IOS etc doesn't it?
    Any tips anyone?
    Cheers
    Philip

Thanks for this Gary. Much appreciated. Will help with future ones.
Still a bit like using keynote in 'safe mode' and very limiting.
If anyone produces an 'auto convert' app that will save me the work of fixing existing presentations slide by slide, I'm buying it :-)
    Thanks again

  • Help!  Fonts unreadable the Symbol A in a box!

All of the characters for fonts for icons are now the letter "A" in a box.
All drop down menus as well!
I'm suspecting this has something to do with a software update I was NOT supposed to do... I have a Mac Mini non-Intel.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    For help with Fonts:
If fonts are not displayed as expected when you open documents or you cannot open documents, it's possible fonts have been corrupted. You can validate fonts to confirm they are still safe to use, and remove any corrupted fonts you find.
Take care not to remove system fonts, located in /System/Library/Fonts; removing system fonts could cause some applications to quit unexpectedly.
    To validate fonts:
Open Font Book and select one or more installed fonts to check.
    Choose File > Validate Font.
In the Font Validation window, review the fonts listed for warnings or errors. Use the pop-up menu to display warnings and errors separately, if necessary.
For fonts with warnings or errors, click the disclosure triangle next to the font to see which validation rules show errors.
To remove a corrupted font, click the checkbox next to the font. Make sure fonts you want to keep are not checked. Then click the Remove Checked button.
You can also use the Console utility to troubleshoot problems with installed fonts. In the console.log window, type "font" or a font name (such as "Arial") in the Filter field to find font-related log messages.
You can validate font files before installing the fonts. To do so, in Font Book choose File > Validate Files. Browse to and select a font file to validate and click Open. Font Book displays the Font Validation window and indicates whether it found problems with the font.

  • Fonts have disappeared

Hi, i'm hoping someone can help me....
Im having issues with font book. It's currently empty and all my fonts have disappeared. If i try to install a font it will appear in font book until i restart my computer, then it will disappear again. All Microsoft fonts are non-existent. The only fonts i can access in Microsoft applications are Mac System fonts (which aren't very many). I have looked in the font disabled folder and its empty. I have also downloaded linotype font explorer and it hasn't helped the situation.
This problem all started when i downloaded some fonts from the net for teaching purposes (which i will never do again after all the problems its caused me).
Can anyone help with idea's on how to restore all my fonts? Any advice is much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ell

These fonts are not standard system fonts. They were most likely added by another app or you installed them manually at some point. For OCR A and B, the old Bitstream versions are installed by CorelDraw for instance. Without knowing which app it actually was, though, your best option is to track them down using font sites such as DaFont.

  • Since changing account name fonts have gone bold in Safari 3.1

I've renamed the admin account on my eMac, which proved to be a bad idea.
Since I've got everything back all of my Safari fonts have changed. The default font appears different and most of the link boxes are heavy bold black rather than light bold blue.
Any ideas why this has happened.
From earlier discussions I have validated my Font Book app and resolved duplicates. Restarted, but the prob remains.
    Thanks.

  • Please Help: Major Font Issues

    Hello all,
I am running the Adobe CS5 package. My Adobe fonts have all stopped working. The problem began when I installed CS3. I had initially uninstalled it in preparation for CS5 but I realized it uninstalled my Acrobat Professional 8. I installed just the Acrobat and found that I also needed to reinstall Photoshop CS3 to get the Acrobat to activate and work.
Now, none of my Adobe fonts will work (in particular, Myriad Pro and Adobe Garamond). I've tried reinstalling the fonts several times. Another forum suggested I delete the .lst files listed in the Type Support folder. I tried that to no avail. I've also deleted my preferences file twice.
    Someone, anyone, please help!!

    The C:/Windows/Fonts folder?
When I set up this new build, I copied my fonts folder over from my old computer and installed all of them wholesale on my new PC. That was on Thursday. Everything has been up and running fine until yesterday. The only thing I can think that I did to screw it up was install Photoshop CS3. Sidenote: All other fonts work on my PC, except the Adobe ones (Caslon, Garamond, Myriad, etc). In fact, I had purchased some Condensed versions of Myriad Pro that installed and still work.
Update: Just tried my Illustrator again....here is where it gets weird. All fonts are now working in Illustrator (I deleted my pref file one more time). However, the fonts will not work in Photoshop. I was receiving a Text Engine failed to initialize warning yesterday in PS and found a site via google that recommended deleting the contents of the Type Support folder. Once I did that, Photoshop worked fine again other than not recognizing any Adobe fonts.
Also, I still can't see the Adobe fonts in my C:/Windows/Fonts folder, but they are working in Illustrator.
This is all very weird...and I thank you all for your help!

the classic ipod has crashed 4 times in the last 2 months. till i load 3800 to 3900 songs there seems to be no problem. but after that it just crashes and instructs me to restore to factory settings. just want to know if ipods have a finite life and need changing after this. i need urgent help at least if that is true i can save the trouble of loading songs every other week
    thanks and regards

Yep, iPod classic has life of about 2 years before the hardisk, starts to suffer from arthritis.
Here is a excellent post on iPod  diskdiagnostic by regular tt2.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2362776?start=0&tstart=0
You can also look into getting the iPod hardisk replaced by SSD/Compact Flash,  just google "iPod SSD replacement" or you can search in youtube, on how to do it yourself, if you got steady hands and hawkeye.
    SSD Capacity is expensive,
    Have a nice day!
