HELP my iphone has crashed

i cant turn my iphone on or off its just blank (black screen) but screen is illuminated slightly - wot do i do/

If anyone else is looking for a solution to this same problem, I was able to get it working looking through several older discussions.
The solution was to use the password that I had on my iTunes account the very first time I set up the iPhone about a year ago. I changed my iTunes password about 10 months ago; but apparently, the backups continue to use the password that existed when the phone was first set up.
A couple of troubling things with this are that 1) I didn't apply a password when I did the backup this afternoon so I don't understand why it was required when I did the restore a few hours later. and 2) it makes zero sense why iTunes would not be smart enough to use the current accout password when requiring the password to restore from a backup made with no password.
I thought iTunes and Apple were smarter than that. With so many posts stating exactly the same problem, it is clear that this is bug in the software.

I'm having the same problems. Can't even find out if Apple is working on it. Tried to downgrade but is not supported by apple so error 3194 comes up which is verifying with the apple web site. Which then stops everything. I understand you can modify the "hosts" file to by pass the issue, but hate doing that as it gets involved. May try it if I can't get any satisfaction from apple.

I have an iphone 2g I think, is there a way to tell?
But anyway it was working fine before I updated it with the lastest iphone software update and now the iphone has completely crashed. I connected it with the USB cable and it said Apple mobile device (recovery mode) tries to install the hardware and doesn't. So I unplug the iphone and try again and the same thing happens. Third time, the computer doesn't even recognize there is anything connected. On the screen of my iphone is a picture of the USB cable and the itunes logo telling me to connect but I can't.
I have tried many things to get it working, like download the driver, check if the USB apple connection is there. And from what I can see its all there but it still doesn't recognize my iphone or connection.
Any ideas? I have only had this iphone for a few months and can't understand how a apple software update can ultimately crash there products.

You are right the Iphone is locked into the carrier softbank from Japan and its not the 3g model its the one before it, I am not sure what model.
If your iPhone is not the 3G model - it is the one before that, this means your iPhone is the first generation iPhone or the original iPhone, which WAS NOT sold officially by Apple in Japan. The first generation iPhone was sold officially by Apple in the U.S. as carrier locked with AT&T, in the UK as carrier locked with O2, in Germany as carrier locked with T-Mobile, and in France as carrier locked with Orange and as officially unlocked by Orange. The ONLY country where the first generation was sold as officially unlocked was in France, which is required by French law.
The original iPhone - the one before the 3G was not sold by Apple in Japan directly or through Softbank.
Did you purchase your iPhone from Softbank or from an Apple store in Japan ? If so, this would also mean your iPhone is carrier locked with Softbank since the iPhone is sold in Japan officially as carrier locked with Softbank only, and this would be the 3G or 3GS, not the original iPhone. This would also mean you are roaming internationally with Softbank with your iPhone in China. If you are using a SIM card from a carrier in China with your iPhone, your iPhone has been hacked to be unlocked unless you purchased your iPhone from an unofficial source in Japan which was sold originally as new officially in France as officially unlocked by the carrier Orange in France.

My iPhone 3GS crashed and now only displays the usb to iTunes screen. I came to connect it to iTunes. My computer is currently unable to connect to the internet for unknown reasons. When I plugged my iPhone into my computer, iTunes displayed an error message saying “The iphone software update server could not be contacted”.
I assume I need to download and update the IOS on my phone, for which I need an internet connection. I have a laptop with internet connection. If I connect my iPhone to iTunes on my laptop, (a different itunes library) then will it result in the loss of my photos, videos, contacts and messages as there will be no back up to restore from?
Is there a way I can transfer the back up from my PC to my laptop, so that when I connect my iPhone it is restored to the state of the last back up and I don’t lose photos/videos/contacts/messages?
Any other solutions?

PDF documents are not "in a Adobe reader app"; they are just files stored on your device. You can transfer them as you would any other files.
If the device is still active, you could upload them to https://cloud.acrobat.com/ to share with other devices, but if it's deactivated you will probably need a cable or similar connection.

HELP! iPhone 4s crashing

Hello! I have an iPhone 4s IOS 5.0.1 /32gb with 17.3 available-per settings. Its neen jailbroken. For the past few days I have been having a problem with the phone crashing. I go into an app and within 2 minutes it kicks me back to the home screen. I have tried clearing Safari history, deleting photos, and apps. I have also booted, synced, and still have the same thing happens.
Can anyone assist me? It's driving me crazy!

Did you try killing all the apps from the multitasking section?
Try a reset after killing all the apps by pressing and holding the power and the home screen button for 5-7 sec until the screen goes blank and turning it back ON again.

Is anyone else having prodblems trying to install the iOS 5 on the iPhone 4?
I backed up first like most people have mentioned to do as it can lose everything.
I installed the OS and said install to phone which it did well until it decided to crash my phone. To now it has taken me 2 hours to try and restore my phone.
I have restarted the computer, changed the cable (even though i know this isnt a prodblem) and am currently on hold to Apple to try and resolve the problem.
I have been getting error messages which include these code: -1, 37 - these are the most common ones, 1618 and oxE8000065
Any guesses in how i can get my phone to work again?

If your iPhone does not search for a wi-fi connection before you are asked whether you want to set it up as new phone or restore a backup from iTunes, then I guess you have the same issue as highlighted in this thread:

iCloud back ups can only be accessed via wi-fi that's why you are not granted this option, I have the exact same issue.

I have an iphone 5 on ios 7. when I use some apps, even default apps, my iphone seems to crash a lot. that's not all. when the phone crashes, a blue vertical bar about half an inch wide appears and moves from the left side of the screen then bounces back to the right and carrys on for a little. I've never seen this before and cannot find the problem anywhere. would appreciate your help to try and fix this. thanks

You can try a DFU Mode Restore:
Open iTunes on Computer, connect iPhone to Computer with USB Cable, hold both Home and Power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release the Power button, keep holding the Home Button until iTunes says it has detected an iPhone in Recovery Mode, usually about 20 seconds longer. If the iPhone Screen is Black, Blank this is DFU Mode, Restore the iPhone Firmware. If something is on the screen this is not DFU Mode. Keep trying to get DFU Mode, which is sometimes difficult even for experienced users. DFU Mode = iTunes says Recovery Mode and iPhone Screen is black, blank.
If your iPhone Restore results with an Error, write down the Error Number so you can look up the cause and the fix.

HELP! iPhone has stopped working

So I tried to restore my iPhone to original settings and it wont restore.
Error (1013) keeps occuring amongst other things.
My iTunes is up to date as is my microsoft security.
My phone turns on and says I need to plug into iTunes (like when you first get it) but when I try to restore it the error keeps coming up.
What can I do?

As far as error 1013 goes here is what Apple says in the document:
Error 1004 and 1013: This error may be the result of the connection to gs.apple.com being blocked, redirected, or interrupted. Adjust your hosts file or security software to ensure that connections to gs.apple.com are not blocked. If the issue persists, try restoring on another computer with a known-good connection. If this restore is successful, you will need to contact whoever supports your install of the operating system and security software installed on your computer for assistance. If your hosts file redirects requests to gs.apple.com, you may choose to follow Can't connect to the iTunes Store, in the "The 'hosts' file may be blocking the iTunes Store" section.

Help! Iphone has locked up!!!

Try a hard reset. Hold the Sleep/Wake button (top of the phone) and the Home button for about 15 seconds (until the Apple logo appears).
