Help!My ipod 4th generation won't charge, turn on or appear in itunes!

I've only had my ipod shuffle a few weeks for running. I had it on charge on my work PC all day, when it came to running home it wouldn't play.
The things I have tried;
Held down on 'play' button for a few seconds, it beeps flashes green but nothing happens.
I've try to restore .. switch off, wait ten seconds, turn on - nothing happens.
I've plugged it into my laptop - red light appears and then nothing.
I'm all out of ideas, as it doesn't show up on my computer, nor in i-tunes I can't reset it as per the help support guidelines ... !
Can anyone help me? I'd be forever grateful!

If the red light is shown when connected, that may indicated the USB port is not providing sufficient power to operate the shuffle and charge its battery.  If your computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter, so that it's not running on battery power.  If you are using a hub, try connecting the shuffle to a direct USB port on the computer, by itself, with no other USB devices connected.
The cause may also be a problem on the shuffle with charging.  It is under warranty for one year from purchase date.
NOTE:  The shuffle is not waterproof, or even water resistant.  It is best to wear it clipped to a location that has air circulation, like shirt sleeve, to minimize prolonged contact with sweat.

help me my ipod 4th generation will not charge. i have tryed a wall ataptor an other computers. What should i do? Should i get a new ipod or should i try and get a new charger and see if that helps. It has not been changing for two weeks straight now .Help Please.

Either your USB cable for the charger has been damaged or the part of the iPod where you insert the USB cable is damaged. This usually happens due to water damage or carelessly removing the USB plug off from the iPod. Hope this clears some doubts

My ipod touch will not charge, turn on, or appear in itunes, what can i do?
When i plug it in to my compuer it shows an empty battery with the charge symbol then after a while it shows the apple logo like it is turning on then nothing happens and it goes back to the battery.

I haven't left it overnight to charge. Is there a difference between letting it charge overnight and an hour or two with no results? The ipod does not even recognize that the cord is attatched.
I left it on my dresser in my bedroom.

  • My ipod 4th Generation will not charge on my bose soundock 10

    Hi
I have never wrote on a forum before please help. I brought The ipod 4th generation when they first come out in 2010 and brouught the sounddock 10 shortly after in the same year all worked perfect no problem, untill last week when the dock stopped charging the ipod everything else works plays music etc just won't charge. ipod seems fine. as it charges up via socket charger. went into local apple shop in birmingham city (not very helpfull) they said it not a problem with the ipod must be the dock. They suggested I did a Firmware update on the dock which I did from the bose website but It says my dock has the latest softwre already and the problem is still the same. PLEASE HELP as the apple store just don't want to know.

If it worked before with iOS 5.1 then try the standard fixes.

  • IPod Touch 4th Generation Won't Charge

Hi, I got my iPod touch 4th generation in January of 2011 and it has been working fine until now.
    Let me explain ...
The other day my battery ran out on my iPod, so just as usual I went to plug it into the USB port on my computer. Nothing happened. I then tryed switching USB ports (I have 4). Nothing happened. I then tryed using my wall charger. Nothing happened. I tryed switching outlets. Yet again, nothing happened.
Frustrated I asked my friend if I could borrow her charger. I then proceeded to plug it in to my 4 USB ports, and my many plug outlets. Yet again, nothing happened. When I plug it into my computer, it does not reconize my iPod (Although, I believe it shouldn't since my iPod is dead.). I even tried leaving it plugged in for a few hours, and it still did absolutley nothing.
Now normally when my iPod dies, when I attempt to turn it on it shows a flashing low battery sign (http://ihackmyi.com/files/upload/b/2140-112810133913.jpg) and when I plug it in it shows a low battery sign, except with a symbol notifying me that it's charging (http://www.best-ipod-online.com/images/ipod-touch-troubleshooting-01.jpg). Except now when I attempt to turn it on, it does nothing. It just shows a pure, plain, black screen.
I am completely disapointed with my iPod, and any help at all would be appreciated. I do not wish to ship it away, I will only do that as a last resort.
    Thank you,
    J.L.K & J.M.K

I haven't dropped it or anything. It just randomly stopped charging. I have tried 3 different cords and I plugged it into my computer but it is not showing up on iTunes and it won't charge. It's also dead. I have tried holding the power button and home button together but it does nothing, the apple symbol doesn't show up. I don't think there's anything wrong with the cords. • My ipod (4th gen) won't charge at all

When I plug it up in the wall or computer the screen will cut on and the apple will show up but right when it is about to show the lock screen it cuts right off again. Now it can barely load to the lock screen. It cuts straight off and repeats this action over and over again. It will also show the low battery sign but still nothing will happen once I plug it up. I also let it sit off the charger for X number of hours then plug it back up. It will show the low battery sign and charge like it normally does but then it shows the apple 5 seconds later then cuts right of again.
What should I do? How do I fix this problem?

  • Ipod (4th Gen) does not charge, turn on, cannot be detected by computer, does not respond to any stimulation of any combination of buttons. How do I fix this problem?

I have had my Ipod Nano (4th Generation) for about 3 years and it has worked relativley well throughout. However recently I used it until it ran out o charge completely and asked to connect to charger. I took it home that evening and plugged it into my mains charger and there was no response, so I tried plugging it into my computer (it has the lastest version of iTunes) and it did not pick up the ipod at all. I have left it on charge multiple times since that and still no response. I have been through the troubleshooting guide and that has been of no help because if i hold down either the menu + centre buttons or Centre + play etc there is no response whatsoever. Is there any way that I can fix this problem or should i just either sell it or buy a new one.
    Cheers,
    Mr Elot

i had the same thing happen to mine.  figured it was shot - but i found the ops manual online and read about 're-setting' it.  it involved holding down the left & right <<&>> buttons, with yoiur thumbnails, while the ipod lays on a hard surface.  i had to go thru the steps a couple or 3 times, but it did finally work perfectly and has been working fine for months since!  good luck -

  • IPod touch 5g won't charge/turn on?

I just got a brand new iPod touch 5g this month for my birthday. I've had it for a little over a week and it has been working perfectly. I went on a trip to Kansas City this weekend, and used my ipod during the ride up there. It drained the battery substantially, and it must have died. When I got home to charge it, I plugged it into my computer and waited for iTunes to recognize the device, but it won't. When I try to do anything on the iPod, this image appears:
and then it vanishes after a few seconds.
When I go to turn the iPod on, it won't. And now it won't charge and the above image is the only thing that appears when I try to do anything. I've tried plugging it in and waiting for periods of time, but that didn't work. I've tried restoring it, but whenever iTunes downloads "iTunes Software Update" I get an error message when it's finished downloading.
What is wrong with the iPod? Is the battery defective? Is there a way I can fix this at home or do I have to take it in to Apple? Or is there a simple solution to this that I'm missing?
    Thanks in advance.

Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
