HELP!!!! My ipod has broken!!!!! :(

My iPod recently crashes whilst connected to my iPod stereo, i reset it according to the instructions and all of the songs on it were wiped to my horror! I tried to connect it to my computer to put all the songs back on and it would not connect to the pc. I then did the recommended procedure on the apple website, putting it into disc mode etc; still no joy! Following hours of trying to fix it i managed to get all the songs back on there. Then, the following day, it crashed again, so i reset it and it appeared to be ok. After about 10mins of normal use it crashed again and now is frozen on the apple screen. Is it something that i am doing wrong that is making it crash or is it time to lay the iPod to rest and buy a new one????
Please Help!!!!!

Hello Nextdoorninja,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Have you tried putting the iPod into Disk Mode to see if that helps the iPod mount in iTunes or in "My Computer?

Otherwise, have you have had a chance to look at this Apple support document related to this issue? If not, it would be a good place to start. Hope it helps.

It appears that something happened to yur computer/iTunes files.  It happens sometimes.  To recovery:
    - Import the old music into the current iTunes library
    - Make sure all the apps are also in the library
    - If in the USA and therplaces where iCloud has benn released you can redownload most iTunes puchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - You can always redownload apps at no additional cost as long as you are singned into the same iTunes account the originally purchased them.
    - After all the suff in in the iTunes library, make a backup of the iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer and right clicking on the iPOd under Devices in iTunes.
    - Restore the iPod from backup and restore as necessary.

  • Please help. Ipod has black battery and keeps saying need to restore via Itunes.. but when I restore it goes back to the way it was...

    Please can somebody help me.
My iPod keeps saying I need to connect to iTunes and restore.
I have done that, but then it says it has been restored and then reverts back again to same message.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, it is possible that the iPod's hard drive has become faulty.  No matter how many time you Restore it, iTunes sees something wrong with the iPod's storage the next time, and asks you to Restore it again.
There is one more thing I can think of, that you can try.
Put the iPod into Disk Mode again.  With iTunes NOT running, reformat the iPod's disk like it was an external drive, using the Windows command.  Make sure you are selecting the iPod's disk for formatting.  Select the format type of "FAT."  If there is an option for a "quick" format, do not use it; do a "full" format.  If there is a physical problem on the hard drive, this formatting attempt may fail.  If it succeeds, run iTunes and do another Restore.  (Even if it does not prompt you this time, you need to do a Restore so that iTunes can re-install the iPod's onboard software.)

  • HELP! iPod has frozen

I need urgent help. My iPod was working fine this afternoon, I plugged it into my comp and now has completely frozen on the Do Not Disconnect screen. It is not charging and even when disconnected it still has the same screen. When plugged back in it says the same. My computer isn't recognising it either. Please help as I need it for a long haul flight tomorrow!

Let the iPod battery die. After it has died, plug it back in and it should be fine. You night not have it for your flight, but it should work again.
There's always that old portable CD player.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Headphone Jack has broken - dock adaptor 3.5mm female?

Recently, my 3.5mm headphone jack for my 5.5video 30gb ipod has broken, it only played out of the left channel and is really distorted, is there an adaptor to get the dock connector to connect to my headphones - such as http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-35508-Connector-3-5mm/dp/B000J022G6 but to female. It's also important to keep good sound quality to me, thanks.

There are online places that can replace the headphone jack for you and many have one day turn around service.

  • My iPod screen has broken. I want to repair. how much screen do I pay for?

    Subject:
My iPod screen has broken. I want to repair it. How much screen do I pay for?

Apple does not repair iPod screens, they replace the entire unit.  Cost varies based on the generation and capacity of the iPod Touch.  To repair you need to find an Authorized Apple Service Provider...do not use a non-authorized repair service as that will void all future support and help from Apple.

  • My iPod has had everything wrong with it! Can anybody please help?PLEASE!!!

    Hey All
Please help me with my ipod. Ive been trying for so long to get it working( More than 4 Months) but with no luck.
The problems started when my friend asked me to plug his ipod into my computer to get my songs because his ipod wouldnt load songs from his computer. Well I tried that and it didnt work. Anyway, the next time I tried to update my ipod(which is an ipod mini 4th Gen, i think)it wouldnt update my songs and came up with numerous messages that said something about a corrupt file run chkdsk. Well I looked up what to do and I did run the chkdsk thingy and it said that it fixed a few files so I no longer get those messages. Despite the slight improvement Im still having problems. When my iPod is plugged into my computer it slows the computer right down until iTunes is automatically opened. The ipod then starts to update, but at an incredibly slow rate. It takes it about one hour to update 50 songs. In addition, the ipod gets super, super hot. Now im no computer genius, but i know the USB port that I use with the iPod is a 2.0 thingy so thats not the problem. I have also tried resetting the ipod by pressing the "menu" and "select" buttons on the ipod, as well as restoring it using the ipod updater. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing itunes with no luck and even went back to itunes version 4.0. My ipod has the latest ipod software on it so thats not the problem either. There is one thing I have noticed about my ipod that is rater unusual: the circle (located in the top left-hand corner of the screen) with the arrows on it that rotates when updating keeps flashing on and off in non-regular intervals when updating. Sometimes that little icon wont even appear and its when that icon doesnt appear that the ipod doesnt get recognized by itunes and the computer sees it as a portable storage device and not an ipod.
I know thats alot of infomation to swallow but does anyone have any ideas what the **** is going on???
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers.

You could try to format the iPod in Windows. It does the same thing as restoring and you would need to restore the iPod as normal (using the iPod updater) afterward. This can work when the iPod is recognized by the computer, but not by the updater.
First, put the iPod into forced disk mode.
See: How to put the iPod into disk mode.
On your PC, go "my computer" and right click on the iPod, then choose "format". Ensure the settings are at "default" and that "quick format" is not checked. Now select "format". When that's finished, restore the iPod using the updater.
You can also check the iPod's hard drive for errors using Windows ScanDisk.
Put the iPod into disk mode as previously mentioned. Go to "my computer" and right click on the iPod then select "properties", then "tools". Select the option to scan the disk for any errors.
To exit forced disk mode, reset the iPod.
If that doesn't work, then the iPod needs repair. (to be honest, I think it does)

The ipod keeps resetting itself, I have tried resetting it to no avail.
I tried plugging it into itunes but it freezes itunes and wont show up on my computer.

    Help ASAP needed

Try restoring the iPod via iTunes. First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. If your iPod is with in the one-year warrranty, not abused and defective Apple will replace it.

  • HT1212 My iPod has been disabled for a few months now, and I haven't had a way to reset it. I just recently got a computer, downloaded iTunes, and here I am in need of help that nothing is providing me with.

I've been told to set my fourth generation iPod touch to recovery mode by turning it off, and holding the home button down, but my home button is cracked along with the bottom of my screen, so I have no way to do so.
If anyone knows of a different way to reset a disabled iPod, please help.
I logged into the iTunes account and it says it can not load because my iPod has a password.
Yes, Apple, my iPod had a password; which was forgotten, and is the reason why I'm here in the first place.
I hadn't downloaded iOS 8 yet, so the support system is rather useless. Help?

A 4th gen iPod can not be upgraded to iOS 8. 7.0.2 is the high version it can run.

You need to place the device in recovery mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup (if you have an iCloud backup) see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

What I am saying is ..........
The iPhone HAS to be active making calls on the UK carrier network for the carrier to identify as "theirs" and therefore eligible for the Carrier to unlock
The way to achieve this is to use a PAYG sim making and receiving calls to establish a customer relationship  with the Carrier and then follow the Carrier's process to unlock
With a PAYG it usually means adding a specified (by the carrier ) amount  usually £15 /£20 depending on the carrier
This is how O2 function and according to Gemma  this is how Vodafone work
