Help! My Ipod isn't responding to anything :-/ any ideas on what to do?
My Ipod isn't responding to anything. I was listening to it and then I stopped listening to it. Two hours later I tried to turn in on and it wasn't turning on. I checked to see if the hold was on, I tried holding the center button for 10 seconds. I also just charged it last night so it had full a battery. I also plugged it into my computer and it's not registering it at all. The screen is just black. I already know that i can change it to disk mode or whatever, but I can't because it won't respond to anything! Please help! I really need my Ipod! Thanks!
Try sliding the switch/hold back and forth a couple times, and then reset it 3 or 4 more times (in a row). And if that doesn't do anything, you might just have to take it to your local apple store!

- I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- Then do the other actions of:

paying special attention to item #5
- New cable and different USB port just in case
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

If you restored the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and still have the problem the you very likely have a hardware problem and an ppointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

You may need to connect the iPod in Recovery Mode and then restore it via iTunes. See this article for instructions on getting your iPod into Recovery Mode.;

Hi I have just got back from the apple store and the guy at the Genius bar looked at it and said it was a manufacturing fault, and because it has been like it since new, and seemed to be getting worse he replaced the computer and I have a new warranty from today.
We got the feeling as soon as he looked at it that he has seen this before, I did say to him I was concerned it would be a replacement screen and I was not really happy about that as it was so new, and he said that was the normal procedure, but as the fault was already there at new and it was getting worse they would replace. I could not have asked for a better service.
Not unpacked this one yet but am hoping all is good, its a great little machine.
Thank you for your responses, and I hope this might help someone else. One thing it did not seem to be missing pixels but something to do with the screen production? -
I had a hard drive blow out and lost my itunes library. Now when I connect my ipod itunes tells me it is not sync'd. I am not permited to delete or add any songs. I do not want to loose my ipod songs if I reset. Any ideas? Thanks.

When you still have the problem after restoring to factory defaults/new iPod then you very likely have a hardware problem and an appointment a th Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I want to password protect an external dvd. I try using disc utility, but it won't format with encryption as it claims in the Help instructions. I am using Lion. Any ideas?
Using Disk Utility, I select the disc image that contains the data that I want to backup to a DVD and select Burn. The program asks that a blank DVD be inserted. When I do that, no format pop-up appears as is indicated in the Help instuctions. If I procede with the burn, there is no password protection. Before I converted to Lion, I used to use Disk Utility to burn backup DVDs without any problems.AFAIK, you create an encrypted disk image and burn that to DVD. There's nothing else to do, but I might be mistaken.

Do you have access to an Apple Store? If so, make an appointment at the genius bar and show them the problem and maybe ask them to run a hardware test. Since you just reinstalled the OS, that should rule out a software issue.
It can be hard to troubleshoot over the phone. It may be easier to find the problem if someone can look at your Mac in person and see what it is doing.

I just upgraded to iTunes 12 and had all sorts of problems. After several restores I seem to be able to sync my iPad with iTunes BUT I can't delete anything off my iPad from iTunes. Any ideas on what to do?
