HELP!!!!!! MY IPOD TOUCH WON'T TURN ON OR CONNECT TO THE COMPUTER!!!!!!!!!!

boxa little bit of My ipod's backlight has been going off at random moments. If I locked it for a few moments then unlicked it then it would be fine, or sometimes I would have to charge it. Recently, when this happened, after locking it, it did not fix itself, so after locking it a second time, I tried to unlock it but nothing happened. I tried to charge it and nothing has worked. It doesn't even connect to my computer (Windows XP). It is a very old iPod touch. 2nd Gen, 8gb. iOS is I think less than 4, although it could be iOS 4.2.1 because it wouldn't let me update. It's been dropped quite a few times but that never really did much damage except for a dent in the outer shell. I had no case, it was my friend's old one, and I could not buy one because it was too outdated. The only liquid that has gotten on it is hairspray, and it was just  spray from when I was doing my hair. I don't know what to do, and I had no warranty, I don't have the origional box, and I don't have the reciept. Also, I do not want to have to send it in and pay any money, because I don't even have enough money to get a phone plan, and that comes first.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I put my iPod Touch 4th Gen into PWNED DFU Mode to restore with a custom ipsw, I accidentally unplugged the iPod during the restore and now it will not connect to any computer and there is no way to put it into DFU mode or to turn it off and on again because the power button does not work.

  • My ipod touch won't turn on or connect to the PC

Recently, I had my Ipod touch in my bag, I noticed my juice was leaking. The Ipod got a tiny bit wet, but I dried it immediately... and it had %20 left, this morning I woke up and it wouldn't turn on. I assumed it was flat.
but when I tryed connecting it with my PC, it wouldn't read it!
I've tried pressing the sleep/wake and home button at once, but it hasn't worked.
I was wondering if there was anything at all I could do?
But just remembering it might not be the juice that is effecting this.
Is there anywhere I could take it, Like a apple store or something?
    Thank you (:

try putting it in a sealed bag of rice for a few hours. if that doesn't work you might need to take it in to an apple store. Warranty does not cover water damaged ipods though.

  • My iPod Touch won't turn on or sync to my computer...

My iPod Touch won't turn on or sync to my computer... When I hook it up the apple icon just comes on but nothing more, my battery isn't shot because when I take it off the power, it will just stay on till the battery dies.... Any suggestions??

you might have to restore your ipod. you need to turn off your ipod and then hold down the home button while plugging it in to your computer (dont turn it on just hold down the home button).

  • IPod touch won't turn on. I see the Apple Logo then in 5 seconds it's off.

Okay so i see the apple logo when i turn it on wait 5 seconds and its off.

    any hel is greatly needed...thanks:DDDDD

I would put it into a recovery mode to fix it. Try these steps:
    1. Unplug the touch from your computer
    2. Hold the Sleep/Wake switch until you see the red slider and turn the iPod off. (Note: this may not work and if it doesn't go to the next step.)
    3. Start iTunes
    4. Hold down the Home button and continue to hold it down while you plug your touch back into your computer.
    5. Continue holding it down until iTunes gives you a - "device detected in recovery mode" message.
    6. Follow the onscreen instructions to restore your iPod.

  • My IPod Touch won't show up at all on the computer

    Hello,
I have had an Ipod Touch for 10 months now, bt suddenly for no reason my Ipod doesn't show up on the computer at all. It doesn't say it's charging, it doesn't make a noise and it doesn't show up in the computer or itunes.
I have tried using different cables, different computers and different cables with different computers. I have re-installed itunes, re-installed quicktime, turned off firewalls and all other security stuff. I have done everything people have told me to.
    Please Help Me
P.S Over the time that i have had my ipod i have cracked the screen (my own fault) and have not repaired it yet, and i still have warranty.

Thanks -- actually I worded the question wrong.  I was trying to find my songs icon and kept reloading Itunes to try to find it.  All I could get was the store.  I finally figured out how to reset the desktop and I got my icon back.  Thanks for your answer.

  • HT201412 My iPod Touch won't turn on...please help?

Hi, my 4th generation iPod touch won't turn on. I lost it for about a year, and I plugged it in and it wouldn't turn on. Please help!
    ~Thanks

Make sure it's fully charged. Hold the Sleep/Wake + Home buttons down (at least 15-seconds) until Apple logo lights up. If that does not work, you may need a new battery.

My 1st generation Ipod touch won't turn on at all and whenever I press the buttons to reset it all I get is a white screen, or a white screen with black lines across.Help pleaseeeeee!

You can work through the five 5 R's of troubleshooting to rule out the possibility of corrupted software.

It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damaged part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

  • My iPod Touch won't turn on, why?

My iPod touch won't turn on. It all of a sudden turned off and will not come back on no matter what I do. I've tried holding the lock and home button in at the same time, I've tried charging it all day and I've tired pluging it into my MacBook and reseting it but none of that works. Please help, thank you.

  • My ipod touch won't turn on anymore!!!

MY IPOD TOUCH WON'T TURN ON ANYMORE!!
I don't know what happened. but I am beginning to think apple is ripping me and everyone off.
I don't know why I paid about 200-300 dollars for this iPod to be frozen or not turn on anymore!
When I downloaded Currency converter pro, it just froze my ipod.
Either it's that problem, or something is wrong.
I never dropped it in water or anything bad.
    PLEASE HELP.

Have you've tried holding down the power button for several seconds?
If so and you're still getting nothing you may have to do a hard restore.
here's how to do it on Mac OS:
    1. Connect you're iPod to the computer with the sync cable, and open iTunes.
    2. Hold down the power and home buttons for 10seconds, then release the power button (continue holding the home button for about another 6-8 seconds). iTunes should display a message stating that the iPod is in restore mode and needs to be restored before it can be used (or something to that effect).
3.Hitting the restore button will likely give an error message. You'll need to hold down option and click the restore button, which will bring up a file browser. Navigate to *<your user name>/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates/* and choose iPod2,12.2.1_5H11aRestore.ipsw (or similar ipsw file depending on your ipod, or iphone, generally choose the newest one) and click open.
    4. Wait for it to restore, when that's finished you should be able to further restore it using the backup that was generated when you last synced it.
I have never done this on windoze, but I imagine it's quite similar, just not sure where you'd find the ipsw file.
