Help, my iTouch 5 is stuck on the highest brightness, with option for auto-brightness. I've tried restoring, restarting and rebooting.

This burns battery way too fast, causes it to heat up fast, and is overall incredibly annoying.

The 5G iPod does not a Autobrightness. It does not have an ambient light sensor.
See if the following will allow you to adjust the brightness
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Help! I'm stuck on the white screen with the gray apple!

I just got an iMac g3/500 indigo, I think it has OS 10.0.4 installed. When I first turned it on it started fine and went to the password page. I did not have the password so I turned it off called the person I got it from, got the password. When I turned the G3 back on all I now get is the white screen with the gray apple. I tried to start in safe mode, it starts to load but then tells me I need to restart. I do not have the original disks, I do OS 10.3.2 disks but they are the DVD version and do not seem to work on this G3. What can I do? I am stuck, can someone please help? Thanks

    Hi Frey
If your indigo has firewire (which I think it will have) see if you can borrow an external firewire DVD-drive. You can boot the iMac from that.
There may be one slight problem though with firmware (not firewire). I forget at the moment which version it is but installing 10.3 (I think) without updating the firmware first gives you blank screen and renders the mac unusable until you can get it fixed.
The problem is that firmware can only be updated while running OS9 "from the internal HD".
You end up with a catch 22 situation where you need OS9 CDs in order to install OS10.
The likely-hood of the iMac NOT having OS9 on it already is slim - no-one in their right mind would run an imac solely in 10.0. So you have to work out a way of getting started in 9.
See if you can locate an OS9 start-up CD - doesn't have to be an Apple one- Norton Utilities or TechTool Pro will do. Just get the mac started and then go to the control panels (under the Apple menu) and select start-up disk. It should (after a pause or two) show you all the viable startup systems on the mac. If you still can't get going you may have to rebuild the HD using one of the aforementioned utilities disks - though I would use DiskWarrior for that in preference to both of the others.
Let us know how you get on.

  • Help!  I'm stuck at the install stage with my copy of iWork '08

When I double click it says "the destination folder "Packages" is on a locked volume. Please choose another destination." I can't seem to choose another destination as anything I choose returns "a folder was specified when a file was required." I am trying to use Stuffit Expander.

It would appear that OS X is confused about which program to use for installers. It is not uncommon for this to happen, usually as a result of not using Disk Utility to repair permissions after a system install or update.
You will need to change the default program for opening installation packages back to Installer.app which should be in HD > Applications > Utilities. Highlight a installation package in the Finder, highlight it & choose Get Info from the File menu. In the Get Info box, click the triangle next to "Open With." Click on this drop-down menu & choose Installer.app. If Installer.app is not a choice, choose "Other" & navigate to the Utilities folder & select Installer.app. Now click the "Change" button under the text that asks if you want to open all documents like this with Installer.app. If you don't have Installer.app, you will have to reinstall from the restore disks that came with your Mac or the retail Tiger DVD.

I'm assuming you followed a forum like Gizmodo to load the latest version of iOS 7 Beta on your device
Alot of those forums forget to mention, iTunes 11.0.5 will allow you to update to the iOS 7 Beta but your device will no longer work unless you have the developer version of iTunes as well....
I'd suggest you to research how to downgrade back to 6.1.3/4 and wait a few days for the iOS to be released,

  • Internet recovery gets stuck on the spinning globe with the progress bar below.

    Hello Everybody!
I'm trying to fix the iMac (27-inch, Mid 2010) of my friend. He said it doesn't boot anymore and just gets stuck on the grey screen with the Apple logo and the spinning wheel below. So my first step was to go into the Startup Manager by pressing the Option key after the chime. There I was presented with the Macintosh HD and the Recovery HD. After selecting the Recovery HD to access the Disk Utilities I got stuck on the grey screen with the Apple logo and the spinning wheel again. So I guess the data on the drive is corrupted and might have to be replaced. But before I do that, I wanted to give the Internet Recovery a try. I connected the iMac to the internet using an ethernet cable and pressed Command + Option + R after the chime and the spinning globe appeared with the info: "starting recovery process from network. This may take a while". After a short time the sentences are replaced by a progress bar and a timer that is counting up. The progress bar then moved for a tiny little bit and then nothing happens anymore but the timer keeps counting up. I waited for quiet some time before I gave up. I did not get any errors so I can't provide any other useful information. Can anyone give my some advice? I read in other posts that the ISPs of specific countries block ports which are needed for the internet recovery. I'm in Thailand right now. Does anyone know if that might cause the problem?
Thank you for all your help!

Update: my PC USB hub was connected to a USB 3 port, I connected the 30 pin cable directly to my PC, And the restore worked just fine. Restored phone from iCloud backup and seems to be working fine.

  • Stuck in the US store (with remaining credit)

    Hi there,
Carrying on from the subject header of my predicament.... I live in the UK and have a UK debit card which I use in the App Store. This morning I tried out my new MacBook Pro and updated a few apps. For some reason, I had to change my store location to the US, which seemed harmless at the time.
Now, I am stuck in the US store with my remaining credit of 92 cents, which must be spent before I change to the UK store. I am unable to spend the remaining credit on any apps, because I have no way of verifying my payment method without a US credit card, which I DON'T HAVE because I don't even live in the States!!
I have tried everything and it is infinitly frustrating!! Help!!!

Write to these people and ask them to zero out your balance.  You should then be able to establish a UK account.

I wanted to mark your answer helpful too but I didn't know that I could only put it for 2 answers. Sorry
That was good advice by G-N and s/he is correct about it. Unfortunately, ASC allows only 2 "helpful" and 1 "correct" marks per thread.

  • My phone is stuck on the black screen with the circular loading bar in the middle. How do i fix it?

My phone is stuck on the black screen with the circular loading bar in the middle. how do i fix it?

Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears)
If that didn't help, do a restore by connecting with iTunes.
