Help! My iTunes is BLANK! NO songs! =(

I opened up my iTunes to listen to some music (duh) and NO songs! ALL my songs and playlists are gone. My other account (on the same cpu) wont even pull up iTunes. PLEASE help me!!!!!!

If the music and videos you had in itunes were purchased from the itunes store or ripped from a cd, the default location for them would be in My Music/iTunes. If you imported the songs from other locations, they could be anywhere on your computer
Try searching your computer first for *.aac or *.mp3.
Here is an article from the itunes support website that might help out.

  • Help!  iTunes imports every other song?!

Ok, I got a newer ipod for my husband and i've installed all of the software and the iTunes is importing the songs, but when I check them in the library they are 758:57. They do not play, it skips over them. I didn't have this problem with my mini when I got it. I've tried 4 different cds from different labels and they're all doing that. I've also reset the ipod, and uninstalled and reinstalled the software. What should I do next?

I am having a similar problem. If I use the automatic import function or the manual import function, only the odd tracks will record. Is this your same problem?

  • Help! iTunes can't find songs!

I had moved all of my music to a new iTunes library on an external drive and everything was working fine until SUDDENLY, iTunes could not find about 20% of the music, even though it was pointed to the right library on the external drive.
I tried resetting the library location in Preferences-->Advanced, but after doing that iTunes wanted to make a duplicate copy of every song in the library.
Is there any way for iTunes to see these "lost" files?
Please help, it's driving me batty!

I had the same problem. The only thing that has worked for me was to back up my itunes music and other media, delete it and File/ "Add to Library" everything again. It has been working fine for me since I did that, although it is a pain with a large library. The other thing I did with all of my tv shows was to move the folder with all the tv shows in it out of tthe itunes music folder (music/iTunes/iTunes music) and into my hard drive . I then did "Add to Library" and iTunes copied all the shows back into itunes. (Fortunately I had a lot of space on my hard drive.) Then I threw away the folder that I had moved to the hard drive so I once again had only one copy of the shows and now itunes "knows" where all of them are. That would work fine for your music and movies as well.
    Cheers,

  • Help! iTunes automatically changes my song tags.

Hey, when I add new songs to my iTunes library, iTunes automatically updates the tags giving it its own album artist, album, track numbers, etc. I personally find this very annoying and sometimes forces my library to become very unorganized. Any help in fixing this? Any option to just turn off the auto update of song tags?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
I still have this problem. I have two PCs, both of them have Vista (though different versions) and exactly the same version of iTunes. On one PC, iTunes automatically updates tags, on the other it doesn't. And right now tags are only changed when I play a song in iTunes. It drives me crazy. A few observations and speculations:
There may be a process running (outside iTunes) which checks the properties of an MP3 file played by iTunes and adds certain tags which are not present. Unlikely, but impossible?
The properties you see when you check the file info are taken from the iTunes Music Library.xml file and not from the MP3 file itself. If you look at the file properties in Windows Explorer, you can sometimes see that it can have information for ID3 tags which is not visible in iTunes. When the information is added in iTunes, it is taken from the MP3 file tags and added to the xml file, I think. This means that when you delete the tags from the MP3 file itself, using TagScanner, for instance, it is impossible for iTunes to add it to the xml file and display it in iTunes. I've been experimenting with this and it seems to work.
If the above is true, the question remains why iTunes adds or updates tag information when I have explicitly forbidden it to do that by disabling all the options mentioned here. I still have no clue. Anyone else?

  • Need help with iTunes - None of my songs will play.

Whenever I double click on a song in iTunes, it won't play:
The progress bar does not move and there is no sound.
I tried following the instructions in this article, however the compatability box was already unchecked.

    Have you tried reinstalling Quicktime?

  • HELP? Itunes won't import songs without official titles!?!

This is so strange, but hopefully someone out there will have a suggestion. It makes absolutely no sense to me.
I have a pc that I recently uploaded a lot of music to from two different ipods (using ephpod). All of the songs are 'there', i.e. they are present in the same folder as the one itunes is already using to import from, but after spending hours examining the problem, it seems to be differentially only importing songs that have full information associated with them. I.e. both the songs that it is importing and not-importing are both Mpeg layer 3 audio files (mp3), they are also both full quality files (i.e. they are not links of 2kb, but 3 mb or so), the only difference is that the ones it IS actually importing have 'full details' listed below them (i.e. artist and album title in grey below the song title) all of the other songs merely have the track number (i.e. 01, 02, etc). THe problem is not that it is songs uploaded from two different ipods, as none of the songs from one of the ipods and 3/4 of those from the other won't play (also they won't play in windows media player or even open in the finder...?)
I'm pretty sure this is the problem, as after going through the tons of artists different folders the only ones it will import are those with the previously mentioned 'full data' and not those that just have the track numbers- so maybe the question is whether there is a way to disarm itunes 'song title' discriminatory policy, or perhaps a program that will enable me to add artist info to the songs, or .......a better suggestion?

Hey I got it working. Here's what I did that finally worked.
    1. Set Mp3tag v2.46a to remove all tags when pressing the "remove tag" button.
    2. Loaded all MP3's in Mp3tag. (they all had various fields filled and ID3 versions).
    3. Pressed "Remove tags" button. This cleared all tags.
    4. Pressed the Undo button. This replaced all tags.
After doing this, all the MP3's loaded into iTunes.
And I got to keep my meticulous tags.
So I guess whatever bug in the ID3 tags was cleared out when Mp3tag cleared/uncleared the tags.
I wish we could figure out exactly what the problem is though.
I spent a few hours cleared certain fields, checking ID3 version numbers against each other, etc. and I still don't know what iTunes is having problem with.
    Thanks for the tip, ed!

I keep getting the error 306 cannot connect to the iTunes Network when downloading songs on iTunes. I've tried all the troubleshooting steps from the forums and my technical issues are still unresolved. I have Windows 7. Please help!!

iTunes Store loads partially or returns "Error 306" or "Error 10054"
Proxies, parental control settings and software, security or filtering software, or a bad iTunes Store cache can cause this.
To address proxies, Remove Internet Options proxy settings  ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1490 ) and connect to the Internet without a proxy.
    To reset iTunes Store cache:
In iTunes, choose iTunes > Preferences (Mac) or Edit > Preferences (PC).
    Click the Advanced tab.
    Click the "Reset cache" button.
Click OK and see if the issue is resolved.
    Adjust Parental Controls in iTunes:
    Open iTunes.
    Access iTunes preferences:
On a Mac: From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences.
On a Windows PC: From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
    Click the Parental Controls tab.
    Remove restrictions on Parental Controls.
For more information on parental controls or content filtering software, see iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store.

  • HT1386 iPhone won't sync with iTunes. It says iTunes can not add songs to iPhone because no songs in iTunes library can be copied to iPhone. Help!!!! What should I do

iPhone won't sync with iTunes and It says iTunes can not add songs to iPhone because no songs in iTunes library can be copied to iPhone. Help!!!! What should I do. I tried everything!
I need to add my music to my iPhone from iTunes but its not working!

First off try and go into your IPhone manually through My Computer and cut photos or anything you can through the device to be able to free space up so that you can continue to do what you want to do with ITunes. This way you will be able to create a backup or do what you have to do to manage your information, photos and texts on your device a little better.

I have a ipod classic and my itunes will not download songs I have brought help

Are you sure the error message/prompt isn't referring to the amount of disk space available on your PC's internal hard drive?  If you head to Start -> My Computer.  How much space is free on your C: drive?
Maybe it would help if you could post a small screen shot of the error.

  • Help!"Some of the songs in the iTunes music library, including song "x"..."

I got an ipod, installed itunes which then put all music that was already on my comp into my library. I was able to put those songs from the library onto my ipod. Now i am uploaded cds (store bought, good condition) into itunes. They play in iturnes but when i drag them over to the ipod icon i get an error message saying "some of the songs in the iTunes music library, including song 'x' were not copied to the iPod 'y' because they cannot be played on this iPod." What do i do?! Please help brand new iPod dying to use it!

iPods, can only play files in specific formats and at certain bit rates. My guess is that you have your import settings set to something not compatible with the ipod. Navigate to the preferences screen and locate the importing tab and tell me what the settings are.

There is a parallel setting in Settings/ Videos/ which also includes Videos in the cloud, as well as Settings/ iTunes & App Store/ where you can set both Music and Video preferences.  But you only need to change a setting in one location.

  • ITunes only plays one song at a time ... help please

All of my songs are checked, but iTunes only plays one song at a time. I can't figure out why. Any suggestions? It just started doing this.

You don't mean you want it to play multiple tracks at the same time, do you? Like where you would hit play and ALL the songs would start playing at the same time?
Or do you mean iTunes will only play one song then stop rather than going on to the next one?

  • Help!  itunes will only play one song at a time

My itunes is acting screwy. I open a playlist and play the first song, and itunes only plays that song. it won't keep going forward. it doesn't freeze up; i just have to manually play the next song. this just started yesterday with no adjustments, new downloads...no nothing. does anyone know what is going on? i have already uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, but to no avail. same problem. is this a setting somewhere that i don't know about?

Are the boxes beside each song checked? iTunes will only play the songs that are checked. To check all the songs press control + click in any box. To check only some songs, you can highlight them and then right click and choose check selection.

  • I upgraded iTunes and now my songs sound horrible - help!

I was prompted a couple of times to upgrade the version of iTunes that I have on my computer - I upgraded at least twice (if not three times). Recently I tried listening to some of my music from my computer by selecting songs from my iTunes library and the songs sounded horrible - the songs sounded like I was listening to a scratched up CD, but I know that isn't the problem because the CDs are fine and the songs on my iPod (which were never updated after I updated the version of iTunes) are fine. What's the problem and what can I do to fix this? Thanks!

have you tried working through the suggestions from the following document?

  • Need help please Itunes listing songs multiple times after importing

    a play list.
I recently had my hard drive crash on me although had most of the music backed up as well as copys of the play lists I and my daughter had created.
The problem is that once I import a play list over the net work itunes is listing the songs twic and creating a mess and other minor problems. Yet if I try and import the play list before I add any music to the library it does nothing. How in the heck do I make itunes just search the library for the songs listed on the play list and then show them with out it actually trying to list the songs in duplication?
ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe mobo   Windows XP Pro

That may be what is happening, since the play list was created on my machine before it was then moved over to a back up drive. Just really frustrated since we recently lost our daughter and trying to get this sorted out.
I appricate your taking the time to respond to my question. I will try and see if I can get this sorted out later this eve or in the morn. If any one has any ideas or knows how to get itunes to not display duplicate song titles I would be extremly gratefull.
