HELP* my iTunes will not open
when i try to open my iTunes this message comes up : iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. When i clock on To see what this error report contains it says Error signature

the other main offender with codec packs is the Ace Mega Codec Pack. typically, when people install that one on a PC with a functioning itunes 6.0.x, people will start getting an "itunes has ..." on launch (because of the QT getting compromised).
back in the day, when i was doing some research on both the Ace and K-Lite mega codec problems (K-Lite 1.38 would make 5.0.x start claiming it had QT 6.5.2 installed), i noticed that both packages contained the QT 6.5.2.10 codecs. so the "theory" at my end of things is that this either installs an earlier version of QT on the PC (causing "multiple-QT" instability problems), or messes horribly with the existing QT 7.0.x on the PC in some manner that should not be discussed in polite company.
the first thing to try is a standalone QT reinstall. but there seems (to my eye) to be an increased risk of getting the 0x80040707 complication on the QT reinstall with these post-Mega-Codec-Pack cases. in that case, i usually end up giving my standard "compromised-QT-version-of-the-0x80040707" advice. normally seems to fix the QT problem (although people will sometimes then have to deal with separate error-message-free launch problems after that).

PLEASE HELP! Itunes will NOT open
I've seen many posts with people saying their itunes will not open and gives an error message that says it has encountered a problem and has to close. Mine started doing this a couple days ago, and I believe it might have been after I updated either itunes or downloaded a Windows update.
I have tried probably everything and nothing is working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and quicktime (together and seperately). I've messed with msconfig, I've even tried reinstalling itunes from the cd that came with my ipod.

At the moment I do not have quicktime installed. After messing with it so much, I gave up. But the message it was giving me was the same message itunes was giving me, saying it has encountered a problem and needed to close.
that would be the current problem. itunes won't run if you don't have QT on your system. (it will give you an "itunes has encountered a problem ..." message if you try to launch it under those circumstances.)
so let's try a standalone QT 7.0.4 reinstall again, taking a few additional precautions this time.
download and save a copy of the standalone QT 7.0.4 installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.0.4 Standalone Installer
if you get an error message on that install, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.
if the install goes through fine, check some things for us.
does Quicktime launch fine, or do you get an error message? if you get an error message, what does it say?
if your QT is launching fine, do you still get the "itunes has ..." message?

Please help? Itunes will not open with Windows 7.
I have tried everything in the posts, etc and still can't get it to work. Any ideas? I'm not the most computer literate person so need pretty simple instructions.
1. Right mouse click the iTunes icon and select 'Run as Administrator'
Does it work now?
2. If not, check if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
MSCONFIG
Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
Restart Windows.
3. If that fails or you donot see ApsDaemon.exe file in task manager, refer to following article to remove SC files:

4. If that fails, repair your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR. -
my itunes will not open at all. it occasionally will open but when i plug my iphone into it the program freezes and crashes. please help as soon as possible
i think i might have a solution... i have windows vista and after i installed to latest itunes update everytime i tried to open it it would freeze. I tried everything, including uninstalling itunes and all of its components and reinstalled it numerous times. So i went to the itunes folder in my folders, not on itunes, and i deleted my itunes library and playlists. After that it worked just fine, all of my music was deleted but luckily i had my files saved elsewhere.

Uninstalling and then reinstalling your iTunes should also get your Bonjour reinstalled.
For the reinstall, use an installer downloaded from the Apple website:

I'd first try the fixit from the following Microsoft document. (One of the things it does is reregister your copy of the dssenh.dll file.)

Just installed security update 2014-002, now Itunes will not open, I have rebooted twice with no effect, I don't know what else to do to get my itunes back. Need help please
Believe I've firxed my problem, at least, ITunes is now working again. I followed the information provided from a couple of posts on this thread, (1) re restarting with command-s held down; did it twice, made no differerence; (2) manually re-installed the Security update; no difference; each time restarting, no effect; (3) shutdown the computer; I did for 35 minutes, upon restart, ITunes is back to normal, seems to be working fine. Turning the computer off must clear the cache?

The new version of iTunes will not open on new computer with Windows 7. Old version of iTunes was Windows XP SP2 carried over from old computer. There seems to be some type of color incompatability. Any help?
Uninstalled old iTunes, deleted all old iTunes files in Program Files folder, except two that would not delete, and deleted all iTunes I could find in the registry. Downloaded and install latest version of iTunes. iTunes will open and quickly close with black windows, twice. Troubleshooting says "incompatible Application." Any suggestions?

If I download a new iTunes will I lose everything we have?Same issue for me. Was running 10.5.3 due to the bug in 10.6 with Apple TV. Upgraded to 10.6.1 since it was supposed to solve the issues. ANd no I can;t open iTunes at all.
Annoyed that 10.6 was shipped with the bug with the Apple TV sortting of titles.
Really p*ssed off that 10.6.1 which was supposed to fix this has totally borken iTunes for me.

Right-click the SC Info.sidb file shown and on the shortcut menu, click Delete.

Restart the computer and open iTunes.
