  • Help with laptop screen?

I am wondering if all I need to order is a new laptop screen or if I will need anything else replaced. I'm not sure what all comes when you order a new laptop screen like if its just the outer glass or full screen assembly. I will try to give as much detail as I can. I was also wondering if anyone knows of a good site for screens that has a good reputation and pricing?
I have a Lenovo B570 Model: 1068-AFU Laptop. My son was using it and he closed the screen with a pencil (or something) laying on the keyboard. He then decided to lay his book(s) on top of it. When he opened it the next day and turned it on the screen was all messed up. The glass itself about 2" from the bottom of the screen up against the left side is a small crack that spider webs out about 1-2 inches. Around the crack the screen is black with a purple line surrounding it. Most of the upper left of the screen is white with multicolored vertical lines, the rest of the screen you can see the login screen but has horizontal lines and the whole screen is flickering like crazy. I can still move the cursor around but can only see it in the top right ⅓ of the screen where the only change is the flickering.

    hi DreadSpawn,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Based on your description, You just have to replace the LCD Screen,
This link should get you going, Screen from resellers don't come together with the covers. So I would suggest to examine the LCD covers on your computer see if it took damage as well, Normally If the Plastics were damage the LCD Itself will move while still attached to the covers.
You can Check this Hardware Maintenance Manual about Checking and replacing parts on your B570.
Just be extracareful in replacing parts, If you can have a Local Tech replace it then that's OK.
    Hope this helps
    Cheers!

  • Help! My screen is messed up...

I was fooling around with Mac's displays and Safari's appearance, now my computer screen is messed up. Like right now, this page is only half of the screen size. How do I fix this? Would you please explain in detail what should I choose in order to have the full screen?

Can you access a Finder window to get to your preferences folder in your user Library? If so, drag the preferences folder to the desktop and reboot.

  • Just bought a laptop, screen is messed up

I just bought an Asus laptop a little over a week ago, and the screen is suddenly messing up. It was fine, I fell asleep, I woke up, and now there is this weird shadowing at the top and the screen is flickering. Should I just exchange it? Is it something I might've done?

Good deal. Just to cover the bases, make sure you take the receipt with you

  • Laptop screen is messing up

Hello,  In late April or Late May i bought this laptop at best buy, the lenovo G50-45, i got it for a graduation gift for college. I havent used it much and i got on it and turned it on, the screen freaked out and does a bunch of random colors and blinks on and off, I have kept it very safe and ive barely used it, i dont know what the problem is. Hi Alexismartin,
    Welcome to the Forums
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with keyboard in your Lenovo G50-80 laptop.
Perform power drain, disconnect all the external devices connected to the system shutdown the system, and remove the battery and adapter.
Now press and hold the power button for 20 seconds and connect the battery and adapter and turn on the laptop and check for the issue.
Also connect an external monitor if available and check for the issue.
    Best regards,

  • Laptop screen messed up.

Hi, I have a Hp probook 4540s with a Windows 7 operating system and when I was playing a game all of a sudden my laptop screen went to a screen where the color was all messed up. At first I thought it was the heat because my room can get pretty hot. So I waited a few mins but when it started up again it went to the screen with messed colors. I don't know what to do and I am out of ideas.

First thing to do is figure out if it is the screen or the motherboard. Attach a monitor to the video output port and boot up the system. One of the function keys (f3 or 4 likely) will have an icon of a monitor on it. Tap that key as you power up to see if you can get a picture on the monitor. If so, the problem is the screen. If the picture on the monitor is also garbled the problem is the video chip on the motherboard. Please post back with results for further help if you wish.

  • HELP!! PSE7 Downloader doesn't fit laptop screen

I've recently upgraded from pse4 to pse7 and have just found the 'advanced settings' button on the downloader. However, the window this opens is too big for my laptop screen and I can't access the 'get photos' button. I can't get the window to move like a windows window. Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Adam

Interesting, the Advanced Dialog window is 812 pixels high, larger than the 768 typical of a laptop (and the minimum required by Adobe for PSE).   And PSE doesn’t let you make the window any smaller.
Here’s how to move the window around if the title bar isn’t visible: Click anywhere within the window. Then hold down Alt and Space at the same time.  Release Alt-Space and type “m”. Now you can use the up/down/left/right arrow keys to move the window around.  Left-click with the mouse when you have the window where you want it.
You can try this on other top-level windows first to see how it works.

  • Need help placing photo image in laptop screen of a video...

I have footage that is both zooming and panning, and need a photo image to fit within the laptop screen space during the duration of the pan/zoom.  Should I use "Track Motion" accompanied with key-framing in 2D?  Does this make sense?  Is there an easier way to achieve this, or is that the way to go?
Here is a rough take of the clip of which I speak.  In reality, we will be placing the same image on both the HDTV and the laptop in the shot.  Hopefully, this will make what I have said above a little more clear.  Hope you can help.  Thanks much.

If you have CS4 then I would recommend using Mocha for AE (a planar tracking software from imagineers system that comes bundled with AE CS4). It's basically designed for the kinds of stuff you described. There are some helpfull tutorials on the imagineer systems's website:

  • HT1553 my laptop screen has gone blank, probably graphic card problem. i want to back it up. please help

my laptop screen has gone blank probably due to graphic card problem.i need to back up my content as i have bought a new mac and do not intend on repairing the old one. please help

    Try a Target disk:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4889
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4413
If you are buying a new mac, Apple will do the migration for you, I would let them do it.
If you have an external monitor, I would try to do a data backup before doing anything.
Could also be your drive has already failed, or logic card.  Again I would take it the  Apple store, and have them deal with it since you bought a new Mac, they would do this for free, and the shoulder the responsibility.
    Hoe this helps.

  • Multi Monitor messes up laptop screen?

I have a 15" Retina MB Pro, got it when they first came out.  Had the display replaced with the Samsung after the ghosting issue.  But this happened randomly before that, and now it's every single time.
I have a 24" 1920x1080 external monitor I connect to via HDMI.  I also have, on my laptop screen, some icons on the left edge, top edge, and right edge, so I can hit a few things here and there without having to minimize whatever I'm working on at the time if I need to do something else.  These are mostly just some folders and text icons, not apps.
But what happens is that when I plug in the external monitor, the icon positions change.  And it's not consistent.  Sometimes they change so it's like the external monitor is just part of a virtual monitor, and my top row on the laptop moves to the middle of the laptop and extends across the middle of the external display.  Sometimes when I plug in the external monitor, my "actual" desktop shrinks up to a small spot on the top left, like some crunched version of my actual desktop.  Other times that happens, as well as getting a small silver plane shape from what would be the "dock" on that tiny screen.  Now, regardless of what happens, my entire screen on the laptop is still usable, resolution isn't changing, and the entire desktop on the 1920x1080 external monitor is usable - it's just the desktop that gets totally screwed up as far as the icons go.  If I unplug the monitor, they revert back to "normal" on the laptop display.
It used to just happen once in a while.  Then it started happening more often, and now it's to the point where I may have to unplug and replug the HDMI 70 or 80 times to try to get the desktop to not screw up like this.  At this rate I'll wear out the HDMI port in a month or so.
Any suggestions?  One of my zillion google searches for this turned up someone who specified a plist file to delete, which I did, but that didn't solve the issue...
If it were at least CONSISTENT on way or another (screwed up across both screens, or always giving me that mini fraction of my latpop desktop on the top left of the retina display) it wouldn't be as bad as this, espeically since sometimes it *DOES* work as expected - I plug my external monitor in, and there's the second desktop waiting for me to drag stuff to it.
No, it's not set to mirror.
Thanks for any ideas, this is driving me absolutely nuts since I waste so much time on it every day.  I'm about ready to nuke the laptop and rebuild everything from scratch but that's such a pain, and would just make me think of my windows days when I used to do that far more often than I do now...
MBP is current (10.8.3) wiht all updates, 8GB RAM and quad i7 processer model.

sorry did not completely read your post hehe
try to check the monitors maximum capabilities, apple can output 1920 by 1200
also check for the wide settings as well if the monitor is a wide one.
also, there are some issues with regards to windows running on mac missing drivers is most likely your problem see link of intel http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-022544.htm#native_resolution
mac on the other hand supports the full 1920x1200 output since its their product

  • Acer Laptop Screen Replacement (Please Help)

I accidentally cracked my Acer laptop screen and I need to know how much a replacement would cost.
Can I take the laptop to Best Buy to get it fixed? If so how long would it take?
The screen is not large, its a fairly small laptop.
Would it be cheaper just to buy another inexpensive laptop?

You most certainly can bring the laptop to best buy to have it fixed - based on the estimate, you can decide which is more cost efficient.

  • My laptop screen displays on reverse direction

    HP Pavilion DV6-2121er
    OS: Windows 7 Home Basic
My laptop screen displays texts and symbols on reverse direction. For example, on the desktop "My computer"  - as "retupmoc yM".
I did reinstall my OS, but it didn't help me.
What problem may be? Please, help me!

I have the same problem.  A more accurate description would be that the display is mirrored...
If I view the reflection of my display in a mirror everything appears normal.
If I view my display directly everything is reversed horizontally pixel by pixel (i.e.. mirrored).
At no point during the boot process is the display correct.  As soon as the BIOS posts the screen is messed up so this issue has nothing to do with the display driver as it's not even loaded yet.
My problem is actually slightly worse.  My display is mirrored and then shifted to the right half a screen length with pixels beyond the right edge of the screen getting wrapped around to the left side of the screen.  You can get a sense of the problem by doing or imagining the following scenerio:
    1) Take a screen shot of your desktop.
    2) Open the screen shot in photoshop and mirror it (not the same as rotating or flipping)
    3) Print the screen shot and tape the left edge of the paper to the right edge forming a tube
    4) Make the tube flat again by cutting it down what used to be the middle of the image.

  • [Solved] Setting up dual monitor + laptop screen on Alienware M17xR4

    Hi everyone,
My apologies in advance if this has been asked before, I was not able to find any relevant information for this anywhere. I have Alienware M17xR4 with nvidia GTX660M graphics card. I also two extra 24" Asus VS248 monitors besides my laptop screen. They are connected via HDMI and DisplayPort (DVI on the monitor) and I want to have all 3 displays working, if that is not possible, then two monitors working side-by-side.
The problem is that I have not been to able to work the two monitors so far, I did at one point managed to make one big screen out of these two monitors but I want a Windows-like behaviour wherein I can drag the two windows between two screens and maximise them on individual monitors. Right now I have completely messed up my display in such a manner that the TTY1 gets stuck on the boot while trying to start the login manager. I can however boot through TTY2 (ALT+F2) and change any configuration.
I have tried deleting xorg.conf and then regenerating it via nvidia-conf but that doesn't help either.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello i think i may be able to help with your problem, i had a similar one
I have an alienware m14xr2 and i also tried to do the same but i noticed when using the nvidia card with the nvidia drivers i had a problem, i assume that the external display is connected to the intel card, as it worked perfectly with the intel only driver setup. To fix this issue I use bumblebee, the nvidia optimus alternative for Linux which uses the intel card as primary, allowing me to use both external and internal displays in extended mode, and run what i need on the nvidia card and pull it over with a virtualgl bridge, i even seam to get a performance increase with bumblebee over the regular nvidia drivers running all the time (only when using primus).
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/bumblebee
Here is a link to the bumblebee page i used, though i had problems setting up that i found many alienware users had that can be fixed in the troubleshooting area bellow "[ERROR]Cannot access secondary GPU: No devices detected"
I noted many alienware uses had this problem in my search.
Also the package arandr is an xrandr front end may help in the initial setup as i had problems using the display config built into cinnamon to do this.
    https://www.archlinux.org/packages/comm … ny/arandr/
Now hopefully this makes at least dual screen working, i use dual with hdmi, and the vga should work ok for your third screen, but im not sure about the display port, never tried it and i believe it is on the Nvidia card, but there are instructions on the wiki page above you may be able to use about multiple monitors when the output is on the other card that may help, again try the vga first works on mine.
As for fixing your current xorg issues, i also did a thing in my attempts to get a working situation and eventually gave up, in the end reinstalled arch and followed the wiki and it worked, but mabye try removing all of x org and your display environment and re-install as per the bumblebee wiki.
i hope this helps you get multiple monitors, i know how amassing they are to use
