HELP my Linksys router will not connect to my macbook!

Please help. i just got my macbook pro yesterday and i went through all the steps to set up my internet throught a wireless routher and it says there is no ip address and the dot thing is yellow. i typed in the WEP in and everything but it still is not working

What linksys model? Updated firmware? have you tried connecting via ethernet? Generally set up the router passwords, security, etc., when connected via ethernet else you get disconnected and airport can't access it.

RV180 router will not connect to ISP using PPPoE

I had the same problem. The RV180W would not connect to an AT&T DSL connection using PPPoE (modem in bridge mode), or behind the DSL Modem/router with the DSL modem/router providing a dynamic IP to the RV180W or a cable modem (TimeWarner Roadrunner dynamic IP). I upgraded the firmware yesterday and now the RV180W will connect to a dynamic WAN IP, but it still will not connect using PPPoE.
I have also noticed the admin interface is only accessible about 75% of the time. When going to 192.168.1.1 the login prompts either don't come up or if they do, after logging in, the screen never fully loads after that. I have to reboot the router to get it to work.
Also, the router has not yet pulled DNS from either the DSL or the cable modem. I had to manually enter those addresses.
Any suggestions on the PPPoE issue? Any thoughts as to why the admin interface is not always accessible or the DNS?

HELP! My computer will not connect to iTunes Music Store

Hi,
I have an active internet connection, and I am using the most current version of itunes but it will not connect to the store. This just started happening recently. I get a message that says: "itunes could not connect to the itunes store. Network connection timed out."

My Bluetooth keyboard (model A1314) was connected to my Macbook. I was away on a trip and now it will not connect. A message comes up saying "error connecting to device". I have tried everything that I can think of - replaced the batteries, removed the keyboard from the Bluetooth list.

I have a Telus Wireless modem and got a linksys router to try and expand the range & strength of the wifi. However, whenever I plug in the router and try to set it up, I can get connected to the router but no internet connection.
I have tried everything I can - restarted the modem and the router several times, connected and reconnected, rebooted the whole of the router system, connected with an ethernet cable straight to the router from my laptop. In the settings, I have tried to mess around with the settings and more, and whenever I screw up I reset the router to defaults again.
Please help!

I suggest resetting the router and reconfigure it using the Cisco connect version 1.4. You can access the link below to download the software. It will do automatic update if the router needs to be updated.

MY EA4500 router will not connect to my network when initially setting it up again.

I have had my Linksys EA4500 for about a year now. When I first set it up back in January of last year, no problem! Then, in June of last year, I changed internet services for a cheaper price. So then, I didn't need my Linksys router, since the other service provided one! Then, this month, I went back to the original internet service from before. So, I hooked up my EA4500 router again!
But, I started to get dropped wireless interent service! I called the internet provider, but of course, they said that it wasn't because of their modem! So, I uninstalled the EA4500 software from my laptop and tried to reinstall the software from the router disc. thinking that this might solve the problem! But now, when I go to reinstall the software, it gets to the part, where it tries to connect to the internet, I put in the password for the router, it states that it can't connect to the internet and to go to Linksys support for assistance!?!
What's even odd, is that even though I removed the router software from my computer, so as to reinstall it, I checked my wireless connections and the router name is still showing and connected to the internet!?!
FYI, if instead of putting in the router password, when it tries to connect to the internet, maybe try the modem password instead?

It looks like you're router needs a hard reset and reconfiguration. I suggest setting the EA4500 up manually (don't use the setup CD). Do a hard reset first by pressing on the reset button of the EA4500 for 1 full minute. ONce you're done, follow the instructions on how to manually reconfigure it:
1. Hardwire the computer to the Ethernet port of the EA4500.
2. Open a browser and access the EA4500's page by typing 192.168.1.1.
3. The EA4500's default username and password is admin. Username: admin; Password: admin
4. Once the page is up, click on OK on the pop-up warning (if any).
5. Under Setup > Basic Setup, Internet Connection Type should be Automatic Configuration - DHCP. Don't change other settings on this page.
6. Still on Setup, go to MAC Address Clone, click on Enabled and click on Clone My PC's MAC. Click on Save Settings and then on theContinue tab. It's going to revert back to the same page.
7. Click on Wireless. Under Basic Wireless Settings, click on Manual.
8. On 2.4 GHz Wireless Settings, set Network Mode to Mixed.
9. Network Name should be your personalized name (your preference).
10. Set the Channel to 6-2.437 GHz. SSID Broadcast should be Enabled. Click on Save Settings and then on the Continue tab. It's going to revert back to the same page.
11. Under Wireless > Wireless Security, set the Security Mode to WPA2 Personal.
12. You can do the same for the 5.0 GHz band (network). Change the wireless channel to 44-5.220 GHz. Security Mode would still be WPA2 Personal
12. Passphrase should be your personalized wireless password (your preference). Remember that wireless passwords should be at least 8 characters long without any spaces or special characters (only alphabets and numbers). Click on Save Settings and then on the Continue tab. It's going to revert back to the same page.
13. Reboot (turn it off and on) the router.
14. Once the router is back up, try connecting the wireless devices to your network.

HP Laserjet ProP1102 will not connect with my MacBook Pro

My new Macbook Pro with Yosemite will not print on this printer. It did do so a few days ago but not anymore. In wireless mode it will not communicate with the printer (or the printer will not communicate with it.) When connected with a wire the printer does not respond.
On my old MacPro with Mountain Lion it will print with a wire but not without.
There was a fleeting mysterious notice saying i needed a software update but I cannot find anything to this effect on the HP website.

I read your post and see that you are unable to print by a USB or Wireless connection. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Make sure Safari is set as the default browser. (sometimes the EWS won't open if it isn't set as the default)
Open Safari, across the top select the Safari menu, select Preferences, General, set as default.
Restore the printer's default wireless settings:
1. Turn the product off.
2. Press and hold the wireless button and the cancel button and then turn the product on.
3. Hold the buttons until the printer stops making noise, then release the buttons.
Print a a Configuration Page to make sure the IPv4 and SSID are cleared of the old settings.

Repair the Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Close all applications.
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, click Applications and then click Utilities.
Double-click Disk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left.
Click Verify and then Repair Disk Permissions.

Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
Click the Apple icon and then click System Preferences.
Click Printers & Scanners.
Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left white side panel, then click Reset printing system.
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system.
Follow this document to reconfigure the printer over the wireless network.

Linksys wrt54g will not assign address to macbook...

I don't know what to do. I have reset the linksys and rebooted the macbook numerous times. I don't have any idea why it will not pull ip. It just gets a 169.254.14.99 address.
I am on the neighbors wifi right now because mine will not work. I have 2 G3 dual usb white iBooks and a MacBook Pro that pull ips fine. This MacBook will not pull ip for nothing.

Are you using MAC Address Access Control?
Are you running a closed network (not broadcasting your SSID)?
Are you using WEP?
One of the problems with WEP is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.
In order to make things easier for people, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling people to use simple memorable WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys.
The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a Netgear client and vice versa.
One thing is a 13 character 128 bit WEP password will be hashed by all vendors in the same way (if you use 40bit WEP then a 5 character password is required).
Though sometimes not even that works and the HEX key must be used regardless.

New N router will not connect to the internet

I recently acquired the Actiontec MI424WR Rev. I router. I'm upgrading from the MI424-WR Rev. D router. I followed the instructions and all of the necessary lights come on except for the "internet" light. It stays yellow and does not turn green. I double-checked the connections. The "power" light is a solid green. The "wan coax" is a solid green. I connect ethernet cables to the yellow ports and they show green. Please let me know what I may be doing wrong in my setup. Thanks.

RT31P2 router will not connect to internet

I have a RT31P2 router that I use for my vonage phone. While I lived in Japan using cable internet my router always worked fine. I then used the router in the US with a DSL connection and still no problem. Recently I tried using my router in Colombia with a DSL connection and I get nothing. I can not get any internet connection from the modem to the router in order to use the phone and can not get internet connection through the router for my computer. I disconnected the router and hooked up the modem directly to my computer and internet works fine. I wondered if my router had been damaged during my flight to colombia. When I returned to the US i then connected the router to a DSL connection and it worked fine again. For some reason I can not get it to work with the DSL connection in colombia. The other thing is that I can not access the set up page either. I type in the routers address in the web browser and i get nothing. Also the only lights that stay illuminated on the face of the router are the power light and the internet light, even though a computer and a phone are plugged into the router. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a WRT54GX4 and cannot connect wirelessly with more than one laptop at a time. Each laptop I have will connect if I disconnect the other one. I have upgraded to 1.00.20 firmware and tried to find a setting for the router to address the problem without success.

double check on the mac addresses that you have saved so that your wireless computers can connect properly to your netwok, or you could just disable the mac filtering so that all of your computers can easily connect, just secure your wireless network

Linksys WRT54GR - Will not Connect to the internet

I have a linksys WRT54GR router and i have serveral Desktops and 2 notebooks.
My problem is that only on the wireless it wont connect ot the internet. I have Windows 7 RC on my one notebook and it Says no internet access.
i have updated the firmware to 1.0.1 and im running a WPA_Personal connection

As you other computes are able to go online from the Router, so this means your Router is working fine. Just you need to check the settings on your Computer.
Click on Start - Run - CMD and click on Ok, now in the Command Prompt window type "ipconfig" and check whats the IP address you are getting it on your Computer. It should be in the Range on your Router (i.e 192.168.1.xxx). Again in the Command Prompt type "ping 192.168.1.1" and hit enter and check if you are getting any replies, if yes then again type "ping yahoo.com" and check if you are getting any replies.
If you have any Firewall and Anitivirus installed on your Computer disable it and then try and check if you are able to go online.
