Help, my mail is showing I have 16,000+ Emails!

A long while ago, I didn't read my emails that much. After switching to iOS7, it shows every single unread email when saying how many new emails I have. Is there a way to stop this ( like choosing to download only 500 like iOS6 and only showing those or is there an easy way to mark them as read or delete them.?

This may not help, but you might select each account mailbox under "Inbox" (assuming you have more than one mail account), then select the menu item Mailbox -> Rebuild.

That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash. Winston - thank you for your reps but that is common sense... Icloud only displays 50 emails at a time. So your recommendation doesn't work if you have 330,000 emails in your inbox. I am looking for a way to do a mass move.. Like a filter or rule that runs in the inbox. Current rules can only work as emails arrive.
Any other thoughts?

I've just bought a mac and installed Office. I imported my emails over from windows as a pst file which worked fine. Now when i recieve an email, outlook shows it has arrived in the inbox but i cant find it anywhere?
I have rebuilt my identity and checked all rules and schedules but cant find anything wrong. I've even deleted the account and reinstalled it but its still the same?

one solution is to simply delete the email account from your ipad and set it up again right afterwards, This resets whatever file or setting is associated with it that has the miscount usually.

Unopened Mail icon shows on BB even though email was opened in Outlook 2007

I have a BB 8350i with v4.6, a BES Server, and Exchange 2003 Server. I use Office 2007. When email is opened in Outlook, I thought it was supposed to show opened on the Blackberry. I believe it used to behave this way. Is there a settting somewhere that needs to be changed? On the BB in Email Options, under Email Recon it says:
Delete on: Handheld
Wireless Reconcile: On
On Conflicts: Mailbox Wins

I then closed out of outlook completely. I opened webmail and created a client-side rule that moved emails from myself to a specific folder, marked them as read, and with high importance. The rule kicked off automatically and sorted my email
into the appropriate folder.
According to this deacription, it seems that the Inbox rule created in Outlook Web Access(a Webmail client for Exchange) can work automatically. If so, I think the issue should be related to Outlook client.
Since the issue occurs whenever you checked "Used Cached Exchange mode" or not, we can restart Outlook in safe mode to check whether the issue continues to confirm if it is caused by any third-party add-ins.
Please update your Outlook 2007 to the latest version and remove all Inbox rule to re-create them one by one to check whether the issue persists. If it doesn't work, please change a computer to have a try.

Had difficulties signing into my account. finally got to email and nothing was there. then, suddenly, i have 27,000 emails. and it is loading all of them. yikes

concerned about virus, etc? it has continued to keep spinning and the last date email that has been downloaded is february 4, 2013. do i have a virus, etc?

However many emails are in your iCloud account is the amount of emails that will download.
Go to www.icloud.com, login, check mail and see how many there are.
You do not have a virus.

I have an iPhone 4 using iOS 7.1.2. On my home screen at the email icon it shows I have over 11,000 unread emails. I have no emails and am not receiving any. Ipad shows I am receiving emails ok. Om my phone deleted folder is empty as well as Sent.

Where did this come from and how do I get rid of it. The number is printed in read on top of the blue and white emaiI icon. I contacted my cable company and through their website I can check my email. In doing this it showed I had 25 unread emails. Also, my iPad 2 is receiving emails fine. So the problem is with the iPhone 4. What can I do to get rid of the number and make my mail operational?

I would start with taking a look at the settings to make sure that you are able to send and receive messages. If everything looks good then the next step would be to remove the accounts and add them back in. Please help. Mail will not download emails.

Please can someone help. Mail says that it's checking for email, but will not download anything, even though it shows that there are now 11 messages. This has been happening for over 24hrs. I have good wifi and 3G access and haven't changed any settings. The only difference in the last few days is updating OS via iTunes.

Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
If that doesn't work then try closing the Mail app completely : from the home screen (i.e.not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

You can only delete them one at a time on the iPad. If you have an IMAP email account, go to your email in on the server using a web browser and select as many as you can at a time and delete them that way. That action will be reflected on the iPad. In IMAP - whatever you do on one device syncs across all devices. If you have POP email - start deleting one at a time.

Other times the Wi-Fi connection works fine and it check e-mail or other within few seconds. The connection problems seems to be intermitted
This issue never happened before with IOS 5 since I bought the new phone in Oct 2011.

We suffered the imap.gmail.com server problem After an IoS 6 upgrade. The simple solution is to delete the problem account, shut down the iPad, start up again and reenter the account. Everything comes back normally. Good Luck everyone!
