Help! My monitor suddently switches to 16 colors

While working on my computer Mac Pro, my monitor DELL 2407FPWs uddenly changes from millions to 16 colors by itself. I went to Display in System Pref and it still shows Millions of color. This problem only affects my account and no other accounts are impacted. As soon as I log out, the color goes back to Millions. I rebooted the machine and it still does show 16 colors in my account.
Please help me fix this problem.

Niel,
Thanks so much. I search all over the internet but couldn't find any answer to my problem. I even went to Apple Genius bar today and the guy pointed to a different direction which didn't solve my problem at all. Thanks again.

Garageband is not picking sound from builtin mic (rMBP).
I recorded some tracks, now it is not working. I have checked GB Preferences, Audio/MIDI > Audio Input > Built In Microphone.
All other apps can use the mic. Dictation, Skype etc. can use the mic!

I have foud the solution - rather stupid. The system setting for audio input was at 70%, increasing it to 100% solves the problem!

  • My mac pro with dual monitors keep switching sides after reboot

    Hi all,
I am having a really weird issues with my Mac Pro after I installed Mountain Lion. I have dual ACD Monitors.  Every time I reboot, the monitors switch sides.  In other words, the monitor that is in front of me with the dock would switch to the other monitor and vice versa after I reboot.  When I reboot again, it switches back again.  This is extremely annoying.  I have had to switch the inputs on the back of my computer every time.

I hate to burst my own bubble here, but I recently added a 3rd monitor, and now I'm getting the same inconsistent monitor switching between my second and third monitors.
    Here's my set up:
    Mac Pro, OSX 10.8.2
2x2.26 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon
    16 GB RAM
    Three Dell ST2420L display monitors
What seems to be happening now is that I get three identical 'color' display profiles. The first one seems to stay on the same monitor, but the second and third monitors now switch at random. I can't seem to get them to stay in any particular order.
Any suggestions or new approaches for solving this would be greatly appreciated!

  • Pleae Help me, I've tried it all, Color management broken? (Photoshop only)

Hey guys... I'm at the brink of despair....
whenever I open an Image in Photoshop its colors are completely corrupted (color management broken)
I've tried the following things so far....
Reset Photoshop setting vie holding ctrl + alt + **** while startup - didn't work
Synchronize color settings via Bridge - didn't work
    Reinstall Photoshop - didn't work
Adjust my monitor - didn't work
Opened through bridge - didn't work
Does anybody know why its only Photoshop ?
All other software don't seem to have problems, I viewed them in Irfanview and the windows picture viewer and they are correct, but as soon as I open them in Photoshop they're broken..
The color Profiles are the same (Ps settings are sRGB, the image is also set to sRGB) yet broken colors.
Mostly the saturation/brightness and the the color spectrum seems to be incorrect...
    Anyone with helpful advices ?
I am studying Communications-design and need to work with PS
    Please help
    Love
    Oz

Ah got ya, with some images, the colors always doffer, sometimes I open an .jpg in Camera raw first to adjust some values and open it in ps afterwards and I dunno why some pics just won't be displayed correctly...
So My Monitor is not a really good one (Samsung Syncmaster p2470) its default ICC profile is: Samsung - Natural color pro 1.0 ICM
I realized that pressing alt + ctrl + shift doesnt affect the color settings... What's the default for that btw ?
So is my monitor even able to display the whole adobe rgb color spectrum or should I go for srgb instead ?
And after setting the color profile for the monitor, should I set my color settings in ps to "monitor" or to the color profile itself ?
But no matter what I should leave the "View" section right ?
    Thx

  • Please help me how to take the "Spot Color" in illustrator?

    Hi,
Please help me how to take the "spot color in illustrator CS" using vb script (or) java script.
    Regards,
    Prabudass E.

Prabudass,<br /><br />If you are just wanting to see if the illustrator file uses spot colors - run the Delete Unused Panel items from the default actions. then view the swatch palette in small or large List View. The color names that have a square containing a gray circle (spot) to the right of their color names are spot colors. <br /><br />The following will get the spot color name of an existing swatch named "Color1" and change it to "Nicks Swatch" and will assign the CMYK values stated.<br /><br />if (app.documents.length > 0){<br />var swatches = app.activeDocument.spots;<br />for(i=0;i<swatches.length;i++){ var currSwatch = swatches[i]; if(currSwatch.name == "Color1")<br />{currSwatch.name = "Nicks Swatch";<br />     var newColor = new CMYKColor(); <br />     newColor.cyan = 35; newColor.magenta = 0; <br />     newColor.yellow = 50; <br />     newColor.black = 0; <br />     currSwatch.color = newColor; } }}<br /><br />When this script has run the swatch palette will not immediately reflect the changes to the swatch name until you double click on a swatch and click OK or Cancel in the Edit Swatch dialog.<br /><br />I hope that I have understood your question correctly and that these responses are helpful.<br /><br />Good Luck<br /><br />Nick

  • How to add the IP address helper command to the switch

    Hi
I am trouble shooting a SF 200-48P and I am a bit lost without a CLI not used to the GUI. What I need to know is how to add the IP address helper command to the switch?
I have a number of IP phones which are not getting an IP address from DHCP (PCs which are diasy chained off the phones are all working correctly). On the higher end switches I would have added the IP address helper command to the VLAN and that would have sorted it. However I can't seem to figure out how to do this on the small business switch.
    Thanks
    Lorne

Thanks Rizwan. I was banging my head wishing they weren't small business switches as I felt lost without the command line!

  • Monitoring Catalyst Switch (MIB issue)

    Hello,
I am trying to monitor Catalyst WS-C3750G-24TS-E switches with Openview NNM. Before being able to do this, I have of course to import the MIB in Openview in order to interprete the traps, MIB entries,... that I get from/look at the switch.
In the Management part of the datasheet of the switch, there is a list of about 20 MIB's, does this mean that I have to import all these MIBs in NNM in order to be able to monitor the switch??
(I have the same issue also for Catalyst WS-4506 Chassis, WS-X4548-GB-RJ45 48x10/100/1000T ports blade an for the loadbalancer CSS11501, but probably the response for the catalyst will respond also the questions)
    Best regards
    CB

    Thanx for your reply.
In fact, the core functionning of SNMP traps, requests is clear for me, perhaps I was not clear enough on that :-). What I need to know is if importing a single MIB allows me to interpret all the information that I get from the switch(all the traps and gets) or do I need to import all the MIBs that are indicated in the whitepaper. I could imagine that most of the MIBs contain redundant information so there would be no need in importing them all, but I am not sure on this point.
    Thanx

    Hi HARISH INDIA,
That is not good but lets see if we can get it back to life. If you can, see if you can put your iPhone into recovery mode and then use iTunes to restore it. If you can get it to restore, it will erase everything off your iPhone. If you have a back up in iTunes or iCloud then you can put that on after the restore is complete. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • I have a G5 PPC Dual 20" Mac Displays - I want to incorporate a Mac Mini and still use my keyboard and Monitors and Switch back and forth. How do I do this?

I have a G5 PPC Dual 20" Mac Displays - I want to incorporate a Mac Mini and still use my keyboard and Monitors and Switch back and forth. How do I do this?

    The Hatter,
I am a novice at Mac so I read all I can.  From what I understand the NEC monitors I bought require Display Port for their maximum performance.  The GTX 680 only has DVI outputs.  Difference from what I understand is larger bandwidth with the DP.
You said I have the 4000 for CUDA.  I am not all that familiar with CUDA and when I do read about it I do not understand it.
A concern I have is, that if I connect the 2 high end NEC monitors via the 5770, using it's 2 Display Ports I would have nothing connected to the 4000.  Is the 4000 doing anything with nothing connected?  I read where in a PC system the 2 cards would interact but in a Mac system they do not.
Bottom line, as I see it, the 4000 will not be useful at all to me, since I want a dual monitor set-up.
So far the 5870 seems the best choice, higher band width than the 5770, and it has 2 Display Ports to optimize the NEC monitors.
I'm not sure how fine I am splitting hairs, nor do I know how important those hairs are.  I am just trying to set up a really fast reliable system that will mainly be used for CS6 and LR4.  Those NEC monitors are supposed to be top notch.

  • Need Help Connecting (2) 2950 switches together, cant see each other

Can anyone please help me get my switches talking?  I am currently in training for entry level certs and can't continue until i get these talking.
I have two 2950 switches connected via port 0/1 on both switches.  (tried both crossover and regular cat5 connections)
I have both ports active and both VLAN 1s active and both ports set to switchport mode trunk
There is no port security enabled.  Both switches have IP's assigned in the respective default VLAN 1.
IP address 10.1.10.10 for switch 1
IP address 10.1.10.11 for switch 2
VTP is set to server on both, ( I tried transparent on both as well )
I cant get these switches to ping each other and or access telnet from each other.  If i connect an outside connection i can telnet individually to each but they wont see each other through ping or CDP Neighbors.
Any ideas?? Please help as i am trying to get my CCENT in a few weeks!
    THANK YOU!

  • Need help w monitor for COLOR

I have a quad core intel running the latest final cut. I do grading with COLOR. I want to hook up a CRT monitor to view what I am working on and not depend on my apple monitors. Can someone give me the scoop on this. We use an AjA IO but that seems to not work since my program reads monitors disabled (grayed out). Do I need a card? IF so, what is best? Surely some of you have great setups.... and I'd love to hear about a solution.

You need a dedicated video input/output card. Time for a little research as this is answered almost daily. Your IO will not work as it's a firewire interface. The following all make products to do what you want.

On my iMac, i created different accounts for the member of the family. When i switch from one to an other account and go back to the first account the wallpaper change automaticly to a solid color wallpaper. • Help Photoshop/Monitor Calibration and ICC Profiles.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, I am completely new here, if I am not, can you help show me where I can get answers to this?
If you can help me, then please. (:
So I'm helping my dad with a photography studio over the summer to make money for a car and I will be doing the editing and such.
I have CS4 on a laptop, that is connected to a NEC monitor with Multisync P221W with the Spectraview II calibration software.
We have done a few pictures before but it has always taken us a few prints from the costco photo center to get the colors and lighting right because
it always seems to be different than how I see it on the monitor. I have been told install the ICC profiles from  http://www.drycreekphoto.com/icc/Profiles/California_profiles.htm#CA . I live in the victorville area, and there are 4 ICC profiles, 2 for each printer. How do I install all 4? And how do I switch from one to the other? Also how do I set up my NEC monitor for photo editing, the Spectraview program calibrates it and says that it's set up for Photo editing but are there standard values for the colors, gamma, etc? And also how do I set up Photoshop CS4 for editing, I have been told to go to color settings but I don't know what to do once I get there.
    Thanks for your time.

Apparently photoshop is applying additional color correction on top of
what the monitor calibration software has already done. Is this
necessary? If this step is necessary, then why doesn't the monitor
calibration software do that, so that photoshop doesn't have to,
Photoshop doesn't apply any color correction to the images per se, it just operates in a selected color space, and takes into account your monitor profile.
The monitor calibration tells your video card - or the monitor itself for some high end monitors, how it should be set to meet chosen targets, and generates a profile for the monitor.
    1. Caibrate your monitor and generate a profile
    2. Tell your OS that that it your monitor profile
    3. Set Photoshop to work in the space of your choice - sRGB, Adobe RGB, or ProPhoto 99% of the time
That takes you to a state where everything is in order more or less. If at this point your images look out of whack, it's almost certainly because they are, perhaps because they were previously corrected on a non-calibrated setup.
Photoshop and other color managed application should display them all more or less exactly the same, provided the files themselves have a color profile .

  • IMac multiple monitors VGA Switch

    Hi.
I have an iMac 20" early January 2006, a 32inch Samsung LCD TV with PC Input and a 17 inch external monitor.
I wish to use both the TV and external monitor as a secondary monitor for my iMac. Obviously not at the same time.
Would I be able to use a VGA Switch Box to plug both the TV and external monitor into, with the other connection going to the iMac. This was I would be able to choose which Monitor to use?
I think these Switch Boxes are usually used for plugging in devices such as Xbox 360, with the main connection going to the monitor. Basically, PC and Xbox, with the main going to the TV. So basically the question is, can I plug the iMac into the main connection, with the other two monitors from the other two, allowing me to choose which is active?
    Here is the product:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/images/B000J249JC/sr=8-1/qid=1213461171/ref=d pimage0?ie=UTF8&n=560798&s=electronics&qid=1213461171&sr=8-1
    Thanks In Advance

Stephen, it has been almost a month since your post and I was hoping to learn something new about our type iMac monitors.
I have checked with AppleCare and several on-line discussions and it seems the only thing that can be added is a "mirror" monitor VGA, which may be what you want. There is apparently no way to increase the "real estate" like on a Windows PC or the new iMacs, Macbooks and Pros.
Hope this helps a little to know others are trying, too.
