Help, my Mouse & cd Drive quit working boot not right

I tried to upgrade to os x 10.3 from 10.2.8 and I put the first disc in and clicked the install. It then asked me to restart so I said yes...upon restarting I get a ? flashing on boot up and then it starts like normal except now the mouse doesn't work! I logged in and now the cd drive won't open, the eject button doesn't work, the mouse doesn't work ***!!!!?/? Please help! I am attempting to copy the system folder from the other mac herre and replace mine with that to see if that will work, please help!

Hi, RvaG60. Copying an OS X System from one computer to another doesn't work — there are hundreds or thousands of files that don't get copied that way, and the result is always nonfunctional.
Do you have a retail Panther installer set (three black CDs) or a gray model-specific Panther set that came with some other Mac? The latter won't work — you need a retail (universal) installer disc set.
I put the first disc in and clicked the install. It then asked me to restart...
Did it appear to install anything first, or did it immediately ask you to restart? Was the message about restarting a kernel panic, or just the normal message to restart after an OS installation has been completed?

Nothing. You'll have to take it somewhere and have it replaced. Or just buy an external USB drive to use in its stead.

I went to open a file yesterday and illustrator just freezes on me. won't open. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but no luck. My photo shop is working fine but Indesign now asks for serial number and then tells me it is not valid. Panic here as Adobe states they will not support/help me even if I pay. They say illustrator CS2 is to old. It does what I need for my business and must have it up and running again. Yes I do spend a lot of time in China but I have had problems in other countires as well. I am in China right now.
I have two Gmail accounts and one Cox account. Cox is my intranet provider back home. I have had problems with all three accounts.
I have tried several outgoing port settings. 993, 995 465, 587 are some that I can remember trying.
Sometimes my accounts will go offline without me doing anything. This is all a mystery to me. I don't have any idea why I have trouble like this. A few minutes ago I changed my Cox account outgoing port and took the account on line and I got my incoming email but when I tried to forward an email that I got it would not go out.
Any ideas you have would be helpful.

Help! Photoshop CS3 liscensing quit working!

ok so I have had CS3 design suite for a few years now and I have never
had any problems, the past few months I keep getting errors saying the liscensing on this product has quit working and I need to uninstall and reinstall to fix it. I looked this problem up on the internet and found an article on adobe's site telling me to fix the flexnet issues and whatnot. I did everything it told me to do and photoshop still wont launch, continues to give me this error! I uninstall the program and reinstall and it works fine for about 3-4 days then starts this all over again...I am at the end of my rope here, cant get any work done cause photoshop is always down. I am running windows vista, would this be part of the problem maybe? any help would greatly be appreciated, Im not sure at this point if I should get a new version of windows or a new computer or what...something is not right with it and I cant keep doing portrait sessions without being able to deliver proofs in a timely manner!

My problem with photoshop and CS3 is that they are triplicating the
photographs each time I launch and Adobe seems to continue to give me the excuse
they are working on the problem of catalogues they are aware
of..................... I am into my 4 th month with this problem and still have nothing
resolved.

My CD/DVD drives quit working and I had to change Registry settings to get them to work again. Now Itunes gives me a message at startup that I need to reload iTunes.

Both of the CD/DVD drives on my desktop computer quit working. I'm concerned that if I reload iTunes that my drives will quit working again though I don't know why they quit working in the first place. Is there a known problem or incompatability with some drives and iTunes. What is it about the registry settings that iTunes requires my CD/DVD drives settings to work or not to work? I haven't updated my iTunes software since changing the registry setting to fix my drives.

I've read some of the support articles about reinstalling the iTunes upper filters in the registry but I don't like the idea that iTunes seems to be saying that they are the ones that will be in control of what CD burning software that I am allowed to use on my computer. If I put the iTunes upper filters back on the computer will I not be able to use other CD burning software again? If I reload iTunes will it interfere with the use of the other software, or, if I use the other software again will I have to go back and reload iTunes or reset my registry every time. This seems to me to be a problem that iTunes should fix so that they don't interfere with other computer operations.

Satellite L645 DVD Drive Quit Working

My laptop is less than a year old, the DVD drive just up and quit working. I've cleaned it, made sure it was "on" (no yellow triangle with the ! by it in the hardware list). I just don't know what to do next. Anyone know why this happened and how to fix it? Thank you.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver for the DVD drive?
Go to device manager, right-click on the DVD driver then click uninstall.
Restart the laptop after uninstalling the driver. It will automatically reinstall the driver.
Give us a response whether this will work or not.

Combo drive stopped working, and not recognised

I know there has been a few post about the combo drive stopping working on the PowerBook.
I have not dropped the machine, and it has had no accidents. Was wondering if anyone had any advise as to what to try to trouble shoot this problem, or is it more than likely a hardware fault?

I have a powerbook g4 just bought a few months ago from a friend. I have always a pc guy, and use to work on Macs (desktop publishing) but was more into the gaming for fun. Well, I as I mentioned I bought this powerbook G4 for a good price (so I thought) and after a few months the combo drive stopped functioning properly, then it died completely. I brought to a certified Mac repair center and was astounded at the cost to replace was going to be, it was between $400 and $500.00. This blew me away, I have to replace DVD Burners on PC's in past and it cost me about $40.00. I tried, and the key word was tried to contact someone at Apple through email and never got a response. I finally called over the phone and was told it would cost about over $500.00 to repair. Well, I guess I am going to stay a PC guy, was actually considering one of the new IMacs, but it most likely will cost a lot of money to do any repairs on it, it looks like it has similar drive. FU Apple!

Can anybody please confirm THinkvantage system update is working or not right now?

i am trying to update this T42 with the thinkvantage system update ver 3.14 and all i keep getting is 'system update server is temporarily unavailable'
is there anyone willing to try an autoupdate and confirm or deny the server is working or not?

Help! My DVD drive wont work when i install iTunes....

I Installed iTunes when i bought my iPod, but my Disc drive wont read any cd's when iTunes is installed. I uninstalled iTunes 4 times now and every time i uninstall iTunes amizingly my disc drive works again.
When iTunes is re-installed it wont read any discs, music cd's movies programs or picture cd's.
Im contemplating returning my iPod for a Zune but i really dont want to have to do that, i love my iPod...
please if anyone can help id really appritiate it...

Super drive quit working

I noticed older posts on the topic was wondering if there are current issues/solutions to this problem. I am using an Intel based MacBook Pro 15" with the Super drive being an HL-DT-ST-DVDRW GSA-S10N, I believe. OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. Turned on the computer and it spit out the dvd which was in it and now won't accept any dvd's or cd's at all. Spins for a few seconds and ejects them back out. Software is up to date.

SuperDrives die - just a fact of life. You can order a replacement from OWC and install it yourself. Apple will charge too much.

(applet,thin driver): IE works, appletviewer not; driver location?

there are a lot of questions around this topic but I couldn't find a specific answer to this:
I programmed an applet under WinNT (connection to Oracle 8i thru thin driver) and keep the Oracle drivers in the ..\Ora8i\jdbc\lib\ place (ZIPped), classpath set correctly.
The applet works fine in IE on my local machine, but not in the appletviewer (it can't find the driver class). Without applet-specific part it works fine using 'java ...'.
I use the suggested 'import oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver' statement.
2nd question: since this applet is supposed to run on a webserver (and not only my local machine...), where do I place the driver (class or whole zip-file?) and how do I tell the main class / applet where to look for it instead of Ora8i\jdbc\lib\ ?

There's a fair amount of fiddling you can do with packets sent over the network by SQL*Net, but that requires the OCI driver. The thin driver is writing out Oracle's wire protocol which isn't publicly documented.
The OCI driver is going to be faster in general than the thin driver, and you're going to have more flexibility to optimize its network traffic.

This used to work on my Mac using Firefox and Mac Mail but now it doesn't. Opening regular links are unaffected. I can still click and open easily. This only happens when I try to use the feature, to open links behind mail. When I right click nothing happens. Nothing is opened.

Firefox quit working will not open any websites at all. Bookmarks and Menu are gone too.

Mozilla was updating itself and zonealarm wanted me to allow it while I was in middle of a online school test question so I clicked deny just to try and finish the test. This did nothing but keep opening the zonealarm window to see if the update could be done, which I finally did but now mozilla is not working on any websites and i've uninstalled it and reinstalled it and also added the update settings but its not working. passwords and now im basically locked out of them.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

DV6000 Vista Audio Problems (SOUND WORKS just not right)

But I have a Z-5500 from Logitech and want to use the direct line function, and turn the three inputs in the front into the three audio channels for hd audio.

The best advice I can give is to fully remove ALL Creative software.We've compiled a list of entries that will cause problems here. The 2.2.0002 drivers are really, really awful, 99% of people I've spoken to had problems with them. I personally like 2.5.0002 Hope this helps.
