Help! My new Curve locked up!

My new Blackberry Curve completely locked up! It shows a grey screen with an hourglass and every few minutes shows the home screen with a progression bar that says "verifying security software" then goes black, like it's turning off... then back to the hourglass. I've tried turning it off with no luck. I've removed the battery, but it comes back to the hourglass when I reinsert. Is there another way to reset it? I've had it for less than a week! Thank you!

I have the second of two Curves I have had in 29 days through Verizon. Both devices freeze / lock up when paying brickbreaker. I had the first one replaced to get rid of this defect, but to no avail. I have spent probably 20+ hours on line with Blackberry support in the last month and have not reached a solution. Most recently, the tech had me wipe the device clean (3rd time we'd done this) and restore factory settings. With no addresses /contacts synched with my laptop it seemed to do okay for 24 hours. But, with nothing beyond factory settings I could receive calls / manually dial outgoing calls, play brickbreaker, and that was it.
During this 24 hour interim, I ran a complete scan (Norton 360) on my laptop and found no bugs, and even defragged my computer (not that this would affect the device.)
Yesterday, for the first time in 24 hours I synched my device to my laptop to load Outlook addresses / contacts and within a few minutes it locked up again.
Tech guesses my contacts are causing a problem. I don't see how. The same data was loaded on my Pearl that I had for 2 years previously and it worked flawlessly for 2 years.
Tech has had me send them countless logs and bottom line is they may have to create "patch" to fix the problem... I can't wait that long so I am headed back to Verizon today before my 30 days from purchase expires and get a new (non-curve) device. I will reluctantly consider another make than Blackberry if I have to.
PS, the problem requires multiple soft resets daily, and if I wanted that feature, I would have kept my old Palm.... Previously the worse device ever created. And, the Curve has done this before and after I added the 4 gig media card.
Anyone else seen / heard of this? And, if so what is the solution?

Help - I can't set up my e-mail on my new curve

I have a new curve 8520, previously I had a pearl. The e-mail worked fine on my pearl and I thought I'd set up it all up ok by transferring from the old to the new with the blackberry desktop but it seems my email didn't transfer. When I go into email set up now it says existing users need to log in and asks for a user name and password. I have tried putting in my email address and it says the field is empty? I tried putting in the first part of my address without the @gmail bit and it recognised something in the field but said it was incorrect. I don't know what else to do, any ideas? Thanks

ok, try going here and register/login and see if you can register your email

If you cannot, chances are you are not registered to the BIS network.
You would then need to call your Carrier and have them add a Blackberry data plan.
If they say you already have one, go to Options>Advanced options> host routing table> press menu> Register now.
See if that gets it

Help with my new curve please

Just got a new blackberry today as my other curve died today. Got a new curve.
I liked the way I could put more icons on the screen down the left side and then across the bottom. Can I do that with the new one? I also couldnt' figure out how to put an icon on the home screen . currently I have a couple emails, calendar and contaccts and I'd like the browser to be there. How do I do that?
Facebook. I downloaded the free app but now can't really find where it is andhow to get it to be an icon on my home screen. when I go to download it , it says i've already downloaded it.

Couple of things to do carriemn.
1. Look here for the steps to change themes on your device (see if the Dimension L is listed): 9330 User Guide
If not there, you can also google something like "Blackberry OS 5 Dimension L theme" and see what you get back. There are lots of websites that have free or paid themes that you can download. Just be sure that it is a theme written for OS 5 since that is what you are running on your device.
2. Try looking in all the folders on your homescreen for Facebook. It may be there and you haven't found it yet. If not, try a battery pull. Pull the battery out with the device ON. Wait about a minute and put the battery back in. Let the BB completely restart and see if that doesn't help. Clears out the memory and refreshes the BB; like rebooting your pc. See if Facebook icon is there after the restart.
When you have anomalous behavior in your BB a battery pull often helps to clear it up too.
Write good notes as you go so you can refer back to them if necessary. Let us know how it goes.

Help! I have a Mac and have downloaded every bit of software/manual/information/help that I can find and still can't figure out how to transfer all my data from my dying Pearl 8100 to my new Curve 8320. Any suggestions?

There are two ways to solve your problem.
1) Configure the birthday and anniversary events you have created for last year so that they repeat every year on the same date.
2) Enter the birthdays in your Address Book for the corresponding contacts — create the contacts if you don't have them in your Address Book yet — and then tell iCal to display the birthday calendar.

I am trying to get control over the curves in the Graph module of Diadem 8.1 using vbs. I can change the propoerties of the curves that have been already created, but it is not always the most appropiate. How can I create a new curve in the Graph module?

The command you're looking for is "GraphObjNew()", which will work in your DIAdem 8.x version. Here's an example from the DIAdem 9.1 help file:

Sync Yahoo email to my new curve

Hi,
have got my new curve on Orange. Have got my orange.blackberry.co.uk email address sorted Which i'm not really going to use to be fair!
I would like to 'push' my Yahoo emails to my BB but wondering how to do it....any ideas?

You need to setup the account on your device.
Option 1 - If you have a setup mail icon on your device, add the account from there.
Option 2 - Go to your carrier web page, login on your account, go to setup BlackBerry mail and add the account, after a few seconds you receive the confirmation on your device and you have the mail in the device.

Lightroom Help Causes App to Lock-Up

I am a new user of Lightroom and have loaded it on a Windows 7 64bit Home Edition laptop. Whenever I click on "Lightroom Help" or "Lightroom Module Help" in the Help menu, the application locks up. I get the same results with version 3.3 (which I downloaded) and version 3.2 (which is what was in the package I bought). The application loads Lightroom 64bit by default, but I also loaded the 32bit version to see if it would work there as well. No combination I try seems to make a difference. Being that I am a brand new user of Lightroom, not having help available is a big deal to me - and I am not always connected to the internet whenever I am using the app so online help isn't a suitable substitute either. Additionally, I am concerned that there is something else lurking in the background that is going to cause the app to lock-up that I just haven't discovered yet.
In the System Event Log, I only see this message accompanied by a 1002 Event code:
The program lightroom.exe version 3.3.0.10 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

Problem with new curve 9220

hii,
i have recently bought a new curve 9220 but finding a real serious problem that is it gets hang every time i try to pick the incoming call.
even it gets hang when there is a missed call.
anyone plz assist me solve this problem.

Even I got the 9220 2 days back, it goes to a full hang after a few hours when kept idle. We cannot help but keep doing a battery pull every 2 hours. This seems like a MAJOR software bug which RIM needs to fix!

New Curve how do I update OS

Just wondering...I have a new curve 8320 almost a week old. It has V4.2.2 do I need up update to a newer version? if so how do I do that?

The latest version of the Device Operating System will be 4.5. It has been given to the carriers, They test it and then they will release they're "approved version" There will be some benefits to the new release, and a lot of people have installed versions from other sources. It's best to wait for the supported release from your carrier. That way they can service your device knowing the OS. Like you say, "if it ain't broke..." .
When you do upgrade you do a backup first, then load the OS and reload your data. Not even close to XP to Vista!
Keep reading the forums, and you'll know all about the new release before you use it! Both this site and your carrier are good places to watch for when they release it.

Can't update software on my new curve 8520!

i got a new curve 8520 from phones4u the other day and the software is 4.6.314 but i would like to upgrade to 5 but on the desktop software it says no updates avaiable and also on wireless updates just wondering if it could be the sim card i got it in the phone or either its just the phone playing up? could someone help me please.

First, in order to update to OS 5 you'll need a sim card with a valid data plan. Once you get that then you can update to OS 5 by following the instructions below:

If you're brave, you can wipe the device with JL_Cmder and then load the OS 5 using the above instructions without a data plan.

New Curve 2 wiped my desktop hard drive

I plugged my new curve into my desktop to back up the data. I got a new hardware found message, bb desktop manager said it did not recognize the device so I unplugged it, took it to the store, they plugged it into their laptop, got the data off, plugged in a new curve for me and it died. Tonight I went to use my desktop only to find it had been wiped clean. All my programs documents etc Help!!

Yes it has to ERASE and WIPE the drive.
Do you need drivers? download. Other idea, find another non-brand brand than MyBook from WD.

New Curve 9300 memory problem

I purchased a new curve 9300, it has operating system 6.0 I checked the latest OS version with desktop software and it's up to date.
Unfortunately I can't use it as it has a memory problem.
Here is a photo of the screen. I took the photo with my Storm 9530 running OS 5.0
Any help would be appreciated, if I can't solve the problem I will be returning the phone.

Have you tried a battery pull restart !
The Message Indicate that your device is out of memory , Check the File Free at Options > Device > Device and Status Informations > please check the free memory.
If you're using a Media card then be sure that media card support is turned On ,and your media are stored in your media card but not Device Memory.

Help Importing New Pictures & Text in Document

Dear Adobe Customer Service,
I just purchased your servcie and would greatly appreciate your help importing new photos and text in the document that has been changed from pdf to docx. I have a Mac and when attempting to change or update photos or text in the document the alignment is totally off and will not allow.

OK, if this is a template file and you are trying to customize a single word, or a list of words that are always in the same places (I was thinking at first that you want to change words in one part of a paragraph if some other trigger word appeared), like a form letter that needs to have the recipients name inserted, then you can use either a custom text variable or Data Merge.
For one-off production the variable is probably easier -- just redifine the text string each time you make a new copy, but if you have a list of words and want to make a copy for each one in a single session, Data Merge would be more efficient.

Open help in new window

when i click the link, it opens help in new tab. How do i open new window without toolbar.
I tried using <af:clientListener />. clientListener opens new window but goLink also opens help in new tab.
My requirement is to have "Help" text or button which, onclick opens help.
Kindly suggest me.
