Help my poor mouse?

My roommate put a bunch(some 900)of songs on my itunes that i dont want on there. They are all on a disc and can only be played with the disc in the drive. But the titles are on my list. Anyway I can delete all the exclamation files at one time instead of single r-click, clear??? Please help my mouse and my hand.

Better to recommend the QuickScripts program instead, it's easier to use:
http://ottodestruct.com/blog/2006/01/31/easier-to-use-itunes-scripts/
Just run that program, then click the Remove Dead Tracks button in it.

    You can force quit applications
    >Force quit
if that does not work you can force quit a computer shut down by hold the power button for an extended period.

Help! My Mouse pad is not working properly. The arrow cannot be controlled, it just keeps jumping all over the page. How can I stop this?

There are several possible causes for this issue. Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried until it's resolved. Some may not apply in your case.
    1. Follow the instructions in this support article, and also this one, if applicable. A damaged or defective AC adapter could be the cause, even if it's the right kind.
    2. Press down all four corners of the trackpad at once and release. If there's any effect, it's likely to be temporary, and in that case the unit must be serviced or replaced.
    3. Open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and delete all pointing devices other than the trackpad, if applicable. Disconnect any USB pointing devices. By a "pointing device," I mean a peripheral that moves the cursor, such as a trackpad, mouse, trackball, or graphics tablet. A plain keyboard is not a pointing device.
    4. Start up in safe mode and test, preferably without launching any third-party applications. If you don't have the problem in safe mode, but it comes back when you restart as usual, stop here and post your results. Do the same if you can't start in safe mode. If there was no difference in safe mode, go on to the next step.
    5. Reset the System Management Controller.
    6. If you're using a Bluetooth trackpad, investigate potential sources of interference, including USB 3 devices.
    7. A swollen battery in a portable computer can impinge on the trackpad from below and cause erratic behavior. If you have trouble clicking the trackpad, this is likely the reason. The battery must be replaced without delay.
    8. There's a report that a (possibly defective) Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter can cause the built-in trackpad of a MacBook to  behave erratically. If you're using such an adapter, disconnect it and test.
    9. There's also a report of erratic cursor movements caused by an external display that was connected but not turned on.
    10. If none of the above applies, or if you have another reason to think that your computer is being remotely controlled, remove it from the network by turning off Wi-Fi (or your Wi-Fi access point), disconnecting from a Bluetooth network link, and unplugging the Ethernet cable or USB modem, whichever is applicable. If the cursor movements stop at once, you should suspect an intrusion.
    11. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine and/or external trackpad tested.

  • Need some help! Magic Mouse or me accidental deleting?

I also posted this under the bluetooth discussion but still hoping for some help:
I've only had my new iMac and Magic Mouse for a month. Mostly the latter is fine but one issue is troubling. What am I doing to cause it to suddenly delete/undo what I just typed? is it the "swiping?" all I know is that I'm in the middle of writing an email when suddenly, my text is gone and there is no option for me to "undo" what has been erased. This is also causing me lots of grief while working in Finale....Thanks for any suggestions/help anyone can give me.
    Nan

This is a pretty common problem for people with laptops and poor posture. Without even knowing it, you'll press on the trackpad with the heel of your hand and select some text, which is then overwritten when you keep typing.
Most programs will respond to Command-Z for undo, even if there's no undo option in any of the menus. It's not universal, but pretty common none the less.
I also find it happens from time to time that I'll go to hit the shift key or something, and also end up hitting the up arrow, which then highlights a bunch of text. So, for a few days, just be very aware of where you put your fingers, and I bet you'll find you're hitting things by accident.

  • Need Help: Wireless Mighty Mouse's Roller Ball Sluggish, Not Sensitive...

    Hello all.
*I have followed Apple's Support Docu* to "hold the mouse upside-down and roll the ball vigorously while cleaning it to help dislodge any particles that may have collected on the internal hardware".
But after I did that a few times, *my Mighty Mouse's rolling is still very sluggish, especially rolling/scrolling downwards, it is very in-sensitive, I almost have to push down the roller ball hard and scroll, then it will be effective.*
*Any idea to fix this?* Or my mouse's "time is up"?
    Thanks and cheers

Sure just needs cleaning. Get some Foam cleaner. Spray on tissue/cloth flip mouse upside down and scroll in the problematic direction for 2 mins.
Add more foam cleaner to cloth and repeat until you have completed the points on a Compass.
Its dirt and grease that causes that. Its a known design problem. A simple clean usually resolves for a few months and then you have to repeat again.
ANY CHEAP FOAM CLEANER SPRAY WORKS FINE. as long as its for Computers.

I'm having the same problem!! It's happening when I'm writing descriptions for products that I'm selling online. My hand will be on the mouse but not even moving and suddenly the browser goes back to the previous page and I lose my whole description! I'm not able to undo it or use the forward/back buttons on the browser to find my lost page and text. It happens totally randomly and I can't figure out what's causing it!! Grrrrr....

  • HELP! Both mouse buttons are Right-Click!

Hi. So I just installed USB Overdrive on my 10.6.1 iMac 2.66, and one of the buttons was conflicting; I thought it might be an issue with Apple's official mouse & keyboard prefs. So I went in, and I accidentally switched the right click/left click, and now I cannot click on ANYTHING because both buttons are right-click. I tried restarting in the hopes that USB Overdrive would override the system prefs, but no dice. Could someone help? Is there any way I can manipulate system prefs without the use of clicking? Thanks!

Yes, of course. The link was only meant as a reference to get in TM under the DVD (where the mouse should work correctly). The OP should only restore the folder mentioned.
you can not restore just one folder using TM restore utility on the DVD. you can only restore the whole system. this might be the easiest in this case. otherwise one can try logging in as root. this should be possible since AFAIK, USB overdrive mouse settings are user specific. then one can try restoring just what's needed from the main user home directory.

  • Help! Poor battery condition

Hi, here I have a question with my battery which is now in "Poor" condition.
I bought my SL510 about 4 years ago. Several days ago I noticed its battery's capacity dropped to 7.89 Wh, which is almost only 10% of its design capacity.
After some researching, I found a lenovo utility named "Battery Firmware Update Tool". It finally worked and the capacity came back to 100%!
BUT! I made a big mistake after. Forget where I got the **bleep** suggestion to do a battery gauge reset after the updating.  I did it twice! And my poor battery is poor again, only 3.89 Wh now, and can not get better whatever I tried.
Anyone can help me here? Or just give me a confirmation that there is no way to rescue my battery and I'll give it up. But I don't think a simple "Gauge Reset" can kill a battery or shorten its life. If so, it should never be provided to the customer.
    Thanks!

Thanks again. But it seems my bad English misled you.
The 3 hours battery lasting time was after I updated the battery firmware. Right now it drops to less 20mins because of the "Gauge Reset".
Thanks anyway. I'll give it up.

By the way, how long usually it takes to do a "Gauge reset"? I ran it overnight, it was still running, I had to stop it myself. Is that the reason to damage the battery?
A battery gauge reset discharges the battery fully then recharges it. That process takes several hours. Do not use your ThinkPad during this process because that will make the gauge inaccurate.
Due to the chemistry in a Li-Ion battery it's possible that a full discharge could damage the battery. IIRC the documentation does warn against doing resets too many times. So if you're now getting 3 hours out of a charge on a 4 year old battery I'd just leave well enough alone and use the battery as is.

  • HELP W/Wireless Mouse

I would like to calibrate my mouse ? To go from one corner to the other I have to lift the mouse several times. Does a MAC mouse have such a thing, like in Windows ?
and I would like to change from a double click to a single click for opening programs or going backwards.
Thanks in advance for the help ! Nancy

Thanks for the response. I tried via Mouse Preferences but all I could do from that window is change the tracking to "fast". That particular window didn't show an option to calibrate a windows so you don't have to run all over the desktop to get from point a to b. In windows you could calibrate so
    could stick to your mousepad.
I'm finding a lot of things different from my Win XP system.

  • Help fpr my mouse!

Please, can anybody help me and my mighty mouse?
Few days ago it suddenly stopped to roll down documents by his little white ball... (I'm sorry, I don't know the correct english word to call it), and now everytime I open a window or a document it can only roll up to the begin, but I need to use the little arrows on the right bottom of the documents to roll them down.... what can I do?

Thank you for the answers, and for Anthony's italian, too.
I tried a different surface, a different USB port and a little forniture polish... nothing happened. It just doesn't want to scroll down, it scrolls up, left and right without problems, but not down!
I didn't use it A LOT, I use it every day but I bought it just few months ago (on the 28th May)...
I didn't understand very well what Jaz Dude said: "if I just scrolled up for a while it might be fixed, also it might just go away". Mine didn't, it works perfectly in every situation, eccepted for scrolling down.
If there isn't any other suggestion I'll try to call Apple. Please Anthony, write it to me (if you haven't anything) so I'll close this topic as solved, thanks.

  • Intermittant poor mouse response indicates interloper?

I have an apple wireless mouse and the tracking response is great most of the time.
I have noticed though that sometimes when I'm on the internet ... or just using an app like my email client, or itunes, or my finance program .... tracking response becomes sluggish.
I don't think this is a mouse problem ... something seems to be getting higher priority in the CPU. But ...
When this happens, the Activity Monitor continuously shows process loads are below 5% total.
Does the Activity monitor really show ALL processes?
Are there known security threats that are able to shield themselves from scrutiny by the Activity monitor? ... it is true that when I fire up the Activity Monitor the mouse appears to track normally again.
It's kinda hard to believe a MacPro could be so process bound by vanilla apps it cannot service the mouse in real time ... especially when Activity Monitor says everybody's behaving.
So naturally I'm a little paranoid.
I'm pretty careful about what I let in the door with my admin privileges, but hey, some of those bad guys are pretty clever.
Any thoughts about how I might track this down?

The activity Monitor does show all processes but you may want to switch to view something like Hierarchical Processes or one of the other options. All means ALL and that is a lot so something may slip by without you noticing.
A way that might help you track down anything untoward is the use of the Console or System logs. Note the times that the activity slows the mouse and then look at the logs. There IS a lot of information there, so it may take quite a time to sift through.
Another point: what other applications are open? I seem to remember a while back that MS Office would cause some mouse problems. Also, does this behaviour manifest iteself with a non-wireless mouse; and have you tried to work in another user account? All may help narrow the problem down.

  • Help with a mouse connection issue.

I'm having trouble with my toshiba optical mouse with blue tooth.. I've been trying to get ahold of tech support, but all they do is tell me to go online, where there's absolutely nothing helpful.  I've tried online, I've tried tech support (and from other posts I viewed, I see I'm not alone with my view of tech support), and all I want to do is get my mouse reconnected to my computer.. It lost it's connection not too long ago, and I am unable to get it to reconnect.
If anyone knows where I could go to get actual helpfull information on the subject, it would be much appreciated!
    Thanks

Which computer? Which Windows? Which model bluetooth optical mouse?
