Help! My .psd files do not have photoshop icons, but generic icons from windows.

Now that I've installed my new windows CS6, all my .psd files have the 'generic icons' windows give to files they don't recognize. Everything else has normal icons (i.e. Illustrator files) but the Photoshop files are blank. This is true whether I'm on any type of viewer format, i.e. details, thumbnails, Can someone help me?

Please try changing the file association for .psd files.
Right click on the file > Select 'Open with' > 'Choose default pogram' and then select 'Photoshop' in the list of programs.
Make sure 'Always use the selelcted pogram to open this kind of file' is checked at the bottom of the window.

I am working on reading TDMS Index files into Matlab. So far i have been fairly successful in reading them when the data has been acquired for a short period of time (checked at 2 min). However when a 15 minute data has been acquired, in a few segments the meta information is not present but a variable in the header info for that particular segment says raw data is present. Does anybody know if sometimes meta information is not available but the raw data is actually present (segment wise) in the TDMS file?

That means the segment shares the same meta information with the previous segment. It doesn't have any new properties. Its raw index information is the same as previous.
You could use the meta information of the previous segment to read the raw data of this segment. Hope this helps,

Frustrating problem: Help with add file name problem with Photoshop CS4. What happens is this. When I am in PS CS4 or CS3 and run the following script it runs fine. When I am in Bridge and go to tools/photoshop/batch and run the same script it runs until it wants interaction with preference.rulerunits. How do I get it to quit doing this so I can run in batch mode? Any help is appreciated. HLower

.psd files dose not open with Camera Raw

I noticed that if you have a ".psd" file even if it is Flatten, it will not open in camera raw. I can easily save it to a Tiff or other formats and open it in camera raw, but I wonder why .psd file dose not open in camera raw

Yes, Trevor, you can indeed opened a non-layered PSD in Adobe Camera Raw—at least in perpetual-license CS6 and earlier, I don't know about the Cash Cow subscription version 14.x which I'm not going anywhere near.
What you cannot do is open a PSD in Camera Raw by double clicking on it. You just have to go through File > Open menu item and its dialog box.
Once you are in the Open dialog box, select the PSD file you want to open, go to the File Format button on the lower left-hand corner of said dialog box and from the list of formats available in the pop-up menu choose Camera Raw. The Open button on the lower right will become active and you can then open your file in Adobe Camera Raw.
Just be sure not to choose the "Photoshop Raw" format from that list of formats in the pop-up menu. "Photoshop Raw" has nothing to do with digital photography at all; it's an ancient, obsolete file format that no one should be using these days.

First, I suggest you download
Microsoft Safety Scanner or
Malicious Software Removal Tool to run a full scan.
The error messages here seems to be caused by the corrupted registries, which related with the folder association.
You may take a try to merge the following registry settings to reset the folder association, before that, remember to backup your registry settings first:

When I try to save a file the download window keeps coming up. When I click to open the erro message says "File does not have a program associated with it for performing this function. Create an association in the folder options control panel." Where is this control panel and what kind of association do I make. Usually it was adobe but I don't have that choice

Also it could be the type of file you are downloading. Like if it was a type of text that your default word processor did not accept it would give you that message.

Ok, I'm not awesome at technological troubleshooting, so if someone could help me, I would be grateful because I'm getting frustrated.
I'm trying to play a silly little game online and it's telling me I need Shockwave. I know I have it because I've played this game before (something time-wasting on addictinggames.com) and I found a file called Shockwave 11 in C:\\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Shockwave 11 with all sorts of things in it.
I checked my Add/Remove Programs list and it says I have Adobe Shockwave 11.5 and that it is used rarely.
Since there seems to be a glitch here that I don't understand, I went to the Download Shockwave page on this site and tried to download the latest version or whatever, if that would work. The gray progress bar moves across under the "Adobe Shockwave Player is now installing" line and then I get an error popup that says:
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel."
What am I supposed to do? What does this mean? What file? Huh??
I am running Internet Explorer 7 and have Windows XP.
I am a total noob and need to be spoken to like a child. Can anyone please help me?

I clicked on your link (thank you - where did you get that?) and installed the Full version, apparently successfully, though during the download there were a couple of components that were troublesome.
The error message I got during setup read: "Error opening file for writing: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Director\SWDNLD.EXE Click Abort to stop the installation, Retry to try again, or Ignore the skip this file." Retry did not work, despite having clicked it 10s of times. I clicked Ignore, then got the same message again, but about a different file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Director\SwDir.dll Clicking Retry again did not help move things along, so I ignored this one too. What does this problem indicate? Do I need to do something here?
Those are the only errors encountered during setup. I declined the Google toolbar. The dialog box says Successfully Completed; I clicked Close.
So I go to try to play this game as a test and it says "Installing Shockwave Components" and then I get the same error popup telling me that this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action and that I need to create an association in the Folder Options control panel!

adcfgclone.pl dbTier it is hanging at 13% and throwing error "The Destination file does not have write permissions ......\9.2.0\OPatch\perl_modules\Command.pm"
i am not using MKS perl.
i changed directory to $ORACLE_HOME\Apache\perl\5.*\MS*\
perl .....\appsutil\clone\bin\adcfgclone.pl dbTierPlease any pointers will be helpful.

I have three different applications which suddenly stopped working with this error

None of the sites has been touched in Months, I assumed they would keep working the way they had.
I wonder how many other sites are experiencing this and how many PO'd customers there are out there??

so I am thinking that adobe has done something to the swz files hosted on thier servers.
Can someone from Adobe confirm if anything was done to either swz files or the crossdomain files on their end?

Your best option is to open your project in the shipping version of Flash Catalyst CS5 and re-publish it. Catalyst CS5 can open projects that were created with the beta 2 release (October 2009) or newer.
If your project won't open, then it was probably created in an earlier beta/alpha version of Catalyst. If you know how to write Flex code, with some work you can upgrade these old projects by hand: import the project into Flash Builder 4 and then resolve any problems you encounter with compiling and running the project.
