HELP! My songs wont go in order on iTunes!!!

When i first had iTunes on my Mac, the songs under "Music" used to go in the order:
#'s,a,b,c,d,e,f,g etc.
Now my music puts A-Z first, then the songs that start with a #, (i.e. "99 Red Balloons") and almost every song that starts with "The" after "Z". Im confused because not all of the songs that start with "The" are after Z. Some are with the T's like they used to be. This is very diffucult to find songs when using my ipod.
This also is ths same on the playlist "iPod Selections" which I have to put the songs I want on my iPod in because my iPod cannot hold all the songs in my iTunes at once.
Does anyone know how to get the order of my songs back to the way they used to? (#'s, A-Z)

The songs from the Sony MP3 player need to be imported into your iTunes library first before they can be synced or added to your iPod Classic.
Regarding the songs that didn't import into iTunes, what format are they in and what seems to be different from them compared with the tracks that did import?

Help my songs wont play on my nano

I've just spend the last 2 days recording all my old CDs onto my PS3 and then transfered them onto my netbook and my new nano. I did it this way because my netbook doesn't have a CD drive to copy them directly.
I though i'd finished but then I realised the songs wont actually play on my ipod. They have transfered onto it, titles and all but they wont actually play. When I press play to cover art comes up and even the bar at the bottom that tells you how long the song is, but it wont actually play.
All the songs are playing fine on itunes its just the ones on the ipod that are the problem. I imported a few songs using home sharing and these are the only ones that seem to be playing back ok on the ipod.
Does anyone have any ideas please? I hate to think I wasted all that time importing them

Check to see if you can play sound with other programs. I did this and found that none of my audio worked. The problem wasn't with iTunes (even though the iTunes error message indicated that it was).
I fixed by audio output and everything is working fine.

Need help joining songs to replay in order!!

I listen to classical music which is always split into separate pieces, is there any way that I can join multiple songs so they will play in order even in shuffle? If I can't do that are there any other suggestions what I can do?

One way to always play a set of songs in a certain order would be to set iTunes to shuffle albums or grouplings. See this article -

If the songs are from a CD (not from the iTunes store or another source) you can join all tracks from one CD into a single track. See this article -

PLEASE help... some songs wont import or play on itunes?

So i downloaded like 40 songs they are all the same bit rate and all MP3s... i downloaded them as a full CD... but out of the 40 only 30 will play and import... they all will play on windows media player and other players so there is nothing wrong with the songs, but they will not play or import into itunes...
please help.. i cant think of anything else to do

You have encountered the symptoms of iTunes being strict/finicky/incompetent (pick your own interpretation) about slight variations in MP3 formats. Treat the files with a 3rd party tag cleanup program, such as MP3 Validator, and then they usually add to iTunes without further problem.

It may be corrupted. Delete it and redownload from itunes store
In iTunes Store click on the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right.
Navigate to the song you want and click on the Cloud button to download

Help transferring songs from Ipod, can't download Itunes 7

I have an ipod mini, and manually update the songs on my imac G5. I did not realise I couldn't then transfer the songs back to my itunes library. I've seen a previous topic which mentions enabling disk use, can I do this on a mini? How? I tried to install Itunes 7 on my mac but couldn't because I need OSX 10.3.9 and I'm 10.3.5.
All the instructions are confusing me, I need something simple to explain how I can get my songs off my ipod without losing them all as can't bear the thought of starting all over again.
Please help me, thanks in advance.

If you update your iPod manually it's already enabled for disk use. There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.

HELP toolbar player wont work after upgrading to itunes 11

after upgrading to new 11.0.0.163 my minimized player doesnt work, everything is grayed out....yes its set to be active in my toolbar, no i do not mean the mini player on the main screen...

I'm wondering if the reason is that there are simply so many match requests that Apple's network is not able to readily meet the demand. One reason I believe this may be the case is that I've never subscribed to iTunes Match, yet when i upgraded to 11, I also observed the "Sending Information To Apple" message for what seemed to me to be a long time. Having never subscribed to iTunes Match, I clicked the "X" to stop the process, and now I'm left with lots of songs that have been assigned the iCloud "Waiting" status, which I can't find a way to change without taking the initial action of subscribing to iTunes Match. So the question I will probably post as a new discussion might be something like, "Is there a way to resume a canceled automatic match process to resolve the "Waiting" iCloud status designation after an iTunes 11 upgrade without subscribing to iTunes Match?"
To summarize, I think it's likely that demand for matching is too great to be handled quickly through available network server resources, and that's at least partly due to the fact that every connected user with an iTunes library is undergoing the match process upon upgrading to iTunes 11, not only those for which an iTunes Match subscription was already active.

Can i make my ipod play songs in a particular order? If so, how?

I want to create a playlist that plays song in a specific order, but iTunes seems to only sort the songs by the headings in the playlist, artist, title, song, etc. Can I make it play the songs in the order i want to hear them?

You can drag the songs in a playlist into any order you want. Open iTunes and go to your playlist, click at the top of the number column (far left) to highlight it, click on any song and drag it to the position you want. Once the playlist is how you want it, update the iPod.

Fix track order on itunes 11

Please please please can anybody help me sort out album track order in iTunes 11!?! After I upgraded, the track order on hundreds of my albums became jumbled and there doesn't seem to be any rationale or pattern to this jumbling. As far as I can see, every album that is numbered 01, 02, 03 etc (as opposed to simply 1, 2, 3 etc) is jumbled. I've asked two individual iTunes support people for information and/or suggestions - one didnt respond; the other's response was that I should use the fee-based AppleCare system. Why in the name of all that's holy should I be referred to a paid service when it's Apple's own upgrades that has caused problems that previously didn't exist!?! Everything was fine on iTunes 10. After the most recent iPhone and iPad upgrade, Home Sharing doesn't work on those devices. And, apart from other aspects of iTunes 11, every time I now reduce to the dock, I have to Quit, wait a moment, then start iTunes all over again before the window will come back up for me. My faith in Apple is dwindling by the day ... Anyhow - any help with the jumbled track-order issue will be much appreciated, thanks.

Use View > View Options, and set 'Sort By" to "Manual Order."
Then you will be able to drag-n-drop songs up and down the list.

I FINALLY GOT IT! after months of relentless synching/autofilling problems on my 4th generation i figured out the solution.
this is what i did: plugged in ipod on off mode~>manually deleting my ipod's songs~>restored factory settings~>unchecked automatic synch~>made a new playlist with exactly the songs & order i wanted for my ipod (just dragged old playlists into the new one)~>then autofilled that new playlist into my ipod. came out like a charm! (before u autofill UNCHECK random add songs)
my ipod always ended up autofilling/synching my customized playlists wrong or it would automatically do my music library (and that was way unorganized), so this worked.

you can then select Not In My Library and download anything you're missing from there.
