HELP! my sound isnt working
my sound isnt working on my macbook pro. The setting seem normal and the icon at the top bar is completly gray and all the way at the top. What do i do to help this??
Hopefully one of these steps should solve the problem.
1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
Highlight Internal Speakers / Headphones
Make sure that Mute is not enabled.
2. Remove the headphone.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
3. Reset PRAM. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
4. Reset SMC. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
5. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
Audio Devices window
Side Bar
Click the Built-in Output.
Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it.

I took my Pavilion dv6000 apart and now the sound isnt working
So here is the situation...
My fan has been making noise so I wanted to clean out all the dust from inside my Pavilion dv6000. (But that isn't what i need help with right now.) So after I took it all apart and put it back together, I had this problem with turning the computer on. I think it had to do with this little ribbon cable that wasn't going in the spot where it had to be (it was connected to the power button chip.) I finally got that ribbon where it was suppose to be, and tried to turn it on. It still didnt start. The battery light would go on when it was plugged in, but nothing happened when I pushed the power button. I finally decided to give up and clean the finger prints off of it so I could bring it to my IT teacher tomorrow. While cleaning it, it all of a sudden turned on. I dont know what happened. It just turned on by itself. I mean, I could have pushed something while cleaning it, or maybe something was loose and tightened while i was cleaning it. But anyway, I finally got it to turn on. Now while doing homework, I notice the sound isnt working. I really dont want to take it apart if i dont have to becuase this is the last week of school and I need these practice tests that I put on my computer. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to possibly fix my audio without taking it apart. I was thinking if i check for the latest driver maybe that would help, but i have the latest driver and the sound still doesnt work. So does anyone know how I can fix this without taking it apart? If not does anyone know how I can fix it if i do take it apart? (for example, things to check to make sure they are connected or tightened?)
Thanks for your time and help, I really appreciate it.Hi,

my volume isnt working help, my volume isnt working help
Hey jusmile_,
Here is an article for you that will help you troubleshoot this issue:
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
No sound through stereo headset
Inspect the headset jack for debris and clean if necessary.
Connect the headset and make sure the connector is pushed in all the way.
Check the volume setting. Adjust the volume by pressing the volume up and down button on the left side of the iPhone.
If you are trying to listen to music and cannot hear any audio, make sure that the music on iPhone is not paused. Try squeezing the headset microphone to resume playback. Additionally, from the Home screen you can choose iPod > Now Playing, then tap Play.
Make sure the latest version of iTunes is installed on the computer that you are syncing the iPhone with (songs purchased from the iTunes Store using earlier versions of iTunes won't play).
Try another Apple headset (some third-party headsets require an adapter to be used with original iPhone).
Try a different song or video.
Check to see if the iPhone alert sounds or other iPhone sound effects exhibit the same audio issues.
Disconnect the headset from the iPhone and see if sound comes from the built-in speaker.
Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,

Itunes sound isnt working!
my itunes and safari sounds on my macbook air isnt working! I'm not sure what happened to it. it was working perfectly fine in the morning and then its stopped working about an hour after i was using it. However, i know the sound works because when I turn on the computer, it makes a sound.
Try this Apple help article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1875?viewlocale=en_US
When you get to your compatibility tab, none of the checkboxes should be ticked.
When you have done this for Quicktime, go to Program Files\iTunes and do the same thing for iTunes.exe, just in case that is involved too. -
Help please:'(
After the iPod was retrieved from the bowl of water did you leave it off for about a week or so to let it dry out. Perhaps even placed it in a sealed container of rice or desiccant to help absort the moisture from the device? If not, it's like that the internal speakers were fried when they came into contact with the water.
If a reset and restore of the device via iTunes (both from backup and to factory settings) fails to resolve the issue, it's more than likely hardware related. In that case, you'll need to take/send your iPod in for service either to Apple or a third party service.
To reset the device, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
For backing up and restoring, see this article.

Help! Sound not working while working in Motion.
It will come on for a split second, then cuts out. I can see the sound waves from the imported mp3 file, and when I export the movie the sound plays. But it doesn't play when I go to play or scrub the movie while I'm working on it in Motion. It does play for a fraction of a second, or sometimes for a few beats, then goes quite.
Any suggestions?
I'm on a Mac Pro, OS X version 10.8.4, 2 x 2.4 GHz 6-Core, and I have 64GB of Ram installed.
Running Motion 5.0.7When you select an audio file from the file browser, if the audio button in the inspector is "on" the audio can be previewed (it will play when it is selected from the browser list.
When you import the audio it will turn off.
There's an icon at the bottom of the canvas. It needs to be turned on for audio to play when playback is going on. If you're project is "very busy" there's a good chance the audio will break up -- but that will depend on your preferences settings:
Above, I have Skip video frames if audio sync is lost. The audio is less likely to break up.

MY SOUND ISNT WORKING IN ONE EAR!!
i have tryed different head phones/buds/speackers... same problem. no sound in one side always. im fairly new with the ipod, does anyone knoe why it is doing this? any help is much appreciated... i cant seem to find any info anywhere..
mmmmm
Squeeze the front/back together.
I'm just wondering if the sound comes back.
Whether it does or not, this is most likely a hardware issue.
You should back up the data on your iPod.You can try Restoring your iPod with the newest Updater and see if that solves things. If not, bring it to an Apple Store or request service online at http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod.

Sound isnt working on music videos after converting
can someone help me out with this. i convert the files using quicktime 7 pro, and the videos will convert successfully but there is no sound on my head phones, or when i add the converted files into my itunes and try to play it. does anyone know how i can fix this?
where can i find this program?
If you are referring to Forty-TwoDVD-VXPlus, here is the URL link:
http://www.kaisakura.com/fortytwovx.php
You can download and "try before you buy" the program here. In demo mode you are limited to the copy of 2 DVD (MPEG2) chapters or 10 minutes of a video file. (Assume you may wish to test MPEG1 here.) In addition, the queue function is not available for tests.
Select a source file or DVD folder by dropping it into the small window on the control pallet as instructed. Then select your output format. (You will find the iPod preset listed under the "Portable" menu.) Program defaults to 1-pass mode when booted but you can select 2-pass in "Preferences" if desired. At this point you can "preview" the material selected and/or start the conversion process. When you start the conversion, a window will open to allow you to give the name and location for your output file. In addition, you can specify a target file size at the same time. I usually allow 4MB per minute of source material as a "rule of thumb." (This equates to about 550kbps which should provide a "good" quality final product if you have a good, clean source.) Feel free to experiment with this setting to determine optimum output quality and economy of iPod space.
When processing is completed, simply add the finished file to iTunes, sync your iPod, test the result. Lest us know if all went well. Hopes this was of some assistance and best of luck! -

All of a sudden my sound isnt working.
I checked speakers and they are not muted and sound at 100% How can I fix this? It's probably something silly, but I can't figure it out?
This is what I just did and my sound is back! "try a Hard Reset as follows.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook." -

Why my sound button isnt working after upgrade to ios 6.1.3??
I recently upgrade my ios. And found out after that there's a sound bug. My ihone sound isnt working at all... Can anyone help...?
iOS 6.1.3 has so many different bugs. I updated my iPhone 4S to this version and now my phone doesn't charge anymore. I and Apple Support technician believed that it's a software problem but they couldn't fix it at all and now I have to wait until the next update of iOS. So don't bother yourself just wait for the next update. Also, contact Apple Support Centre and open a case to report your problem because if it doesn't a common problem maybe they will not hear about it and your problem occurred in the next update again.

i need help my facetime isnt working we bolth have wifi it just says ''facetime ended' or facetime failed help!!
On the 18th of April, I along with the rest of my family members all started having the "FaceTime connection issue" around the same time and day. It only seemed to effect our iPhones. As we could FT ipad to ipad or iPod to ipad and vice versa with no problem... Our phones where on the iOS 6.1.3...
I opened a support chat with an apple tech and they couldn't tell me why this happening. However, they told me that I would need to upgrade iOS.... I was really trying to hold off upgrading, but wanted the FaceTime feature to work. So, after trying everything possible to make FaceTime work without upgrading and having no success, I upgraded the device. I tried FaceTime and it works fine.... I think Apple was doing some kind of maintenance on the 17th, after that many people (globally) started having issues with FaceTime.... Go figure... "I think it was a Conspiracy, to force everyone to be on the new iOS" Anyway, Upgrade it, you will feel like you have a new device! I'm glad I did!
