Help! My Stacks subfolders no longer organize by date
Hi all,
Been running Snow Leopard for about 48hrs now and noticed my system has been a little more sluggish. Not too pleased about that, but I have a bigger problem: when I view the contents of a subfolder through Stacks it no longer organizes by date modified!
In 10.5, I had my Stacks settings to show my items as a list, organized by Date Modified. This ensured that when I looked at the contents of any subfolder in the stack, the contents in the subfolder would all be listed by date (in addition to the main stack list being in date order). Now, when I choose Date Modified, it ONLY shows me the top-level contents of the stack in date order, and NOT the content of subfolders (the subfolder content appears in alphanumeric order). What gives? Apple, why would you remove this logic? Please tell me there is a setting in here somewhere...
I'm really hoping I'm missing something here because this is a key component to my file organization.

This is my biggest issue with Snow Leopard so far. Sorting in subfolders in the Dock worked in Cheetah, Puma, Jaguar, Panther, Tiger, and Leopard (after 10.5.1 brought the feature back). What went wrong in Snow Leopard development to break it so annoyingly?
Not being able to sort by kind in subfolders makes browsing through list/grid view stacks a real pain – in fact I'd be okay with it if the setting was stuck on 'by kind', so that folders would at least appear together; 'by name', on the other hand, is a very poor choice for almost any situation. Date Modified is of course another no-brainer in this regard.
I wish I knew enough to have some idea where things might be broken . I really hope this is sorted out for 10.6.2.

I've been using Adobe Acrobat 7 for many years. I updated my full version of Acrobat 5 to get to 7. My hard drive crashed and I've been trying to reinstall Acrobat and it will not install. Adobe will not help because 7 is no longer supported. Does anyone know where I can go for help?
You won't be able to install your original Acrobat 7 at all, or use your original serial number. The server which used to allow this was switched off.
But assuming you have a compatible system, like Mac OS 5 or Windows XP, licensed users of Acrobat 7 can download a replacement and get a replacement serial number.

I'm looking for help regarding horizontal stacked bar chart. Typically for stacked bars Publisher seems to want data for each stacks per row, but my data looks like this:

I'm sorry that I missed that you didn't want an overlay solution. You wrote it plainly, I just didn't read carefully.
This is as close as I could come to how I now read your request:
Here I have charted your Actual and a column of zeros that I have called the Goal Reference. The last column contains the goal values and I have used them as Positive Custom Error Bars for the Goal Reference series. I'm not thrilled with the look, but unless I know for sure that I'm on the right track, I'll leave it there for now. The width difference between the goal and the actual can be adjusted.

I stacked some photos, now I cannot expand them or unstack them in the organizer.
This is for both auto and manual stacking.Please press Ctrl+D to move to the older grid and now the stack option should be enabled.

When I import photos from Photostream, iPhoto no longer organizes them into Events. Although I can organize my photos into old or newly created Albums, I haven't been able to create an Event since November 2013. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Flag the pic(s) and select the the Target Event and go Events -> Add Flagged Pics to Selected Event

i'm struggling with this. i don't see a way to drag a pic from photostream direct to an event. if i'm in photostream, i can drag a pic, but i can't see any individual event to drag it to. i can dump it in Events in the sidebar and drag to an event from there, but that's a bit clunky.
beats me why i can copy a pic in photostream, but iphoto won't allow me to paste in an event??? -
okay, so i bought a movie on apple tv and it says over 2 hours of waiting time! also, it said to lower the resolution so i did, but it didn't help it only made it longer... please HELP!
Sounds as though you have a slow internet connection.
Check on a computer at speedtest.net.
For near instant playback, you need:
2.5 Mbps for SD
6 Mbps for 720p HD
8 Mbps for 1080p HD
Any slower for a given quality and it has to buffer in order to playback without interruption.
The buffering could be minutes or hours depending on how much of teh movie has to buffer.

Apple should work on their keynotes a bit... I got the impression that stacks would quickly clean up my desktop. I slid a bunch of icons onto the Dock and I got a stack but they all stayed on the desktop too! OK - The Stack seems a bit counterintuitive because now the Dock seems like a storage place but it's not.
Anyway - is there a way to pick which image is on the top of a stack?
A guy at the apple store showed me how to put multiple apps into a stack, but I don't see how to do that now - can anyone direct me there? I think I'll have the same question there too... can you decide which one to put on the top?Stacks are more a 'shortcut' rather than a 'location'. I.e you can turn any folder on your computer into a stack. In fact, any folder you drag to the dock will become a stack.
You can't manually pick what file/application will appear on the top of the stack; You can only sort by date modified, name etc.. [right click a stack]. -
I am currently volunteering in Uganda, so data is precious. I can no longer afford unlimited data, I pay by MB/GB. All of a sudden Mail has stopped receiving. I wait until about 60meg, but no new mail. Using Gmail. Connectivity Doctor says connected fine. No probs there. And weirdly, when I want to send an email. I write it, it takes absolutely ages to try to send but as soon as I click disconnect it sends the email. Very odd. I would just love to be able to write all my emails offline and save to drafts/Outbox and then just connect to send and check emails then disconnect again.

Samplerate, if you want to sample 4 seconds at 1kHz, it's only 8k Data (at16bit). Today that's not a big deal ;-)
What hardware are you using?
Have a look at the DAQ Exsamples. There is at least one where you can choose samplerate and Number of samples and that is ready to run with most (NI) Hardware (Acquire N - Multi-Start.vi ) or with the soundcard Sound Card Simple Spectrum Analyzer.vi

Help! Need to recover lost hard drive data after creating a partition!
So, I'm the world's biggest idiot, and I was trying to reformat my hard drive so that I could bring the documents from my Mac to my PC.
All of the docs were perfectly organized in folders and subfolders a long time ago, and once that had been done, I deleted everything off of the MacBook itself. I never thought I'd have to move all of the docs to a PC, but alas, nothing ever goes the way we plan now does it?
Anyways, I created a FAT 32 partition not realizing it would delete everything I already had on the hard drive, so now I need to recover all of that.
Is there ANY way that I can recover all the data I lost?
Pls respond.When you create a partition, the partition is the erased so all content is lost. There are data recovery services that may be able to recover the material, but they are very, very expensive, if they can even succeed with this kind of erasure.
Check and see if there are any hard drive data recovery services in your area. -

My iPad 2 with iOS 7 touchscreen is no longer responsive, although date/time is current as are off screen buttons. Tapping the screen merely produces a rectangular border around the tapped log in digit. No 'black to white' registers on the upper 4 dots.

Copying Long Raw Column Data to another table

i am trying to Copy Long Raw Column Data to another table in the same schema. this is the situation
Table A (col1 number,col2 long raw) with 100 records
Table B (col1 number,col2 long raw) with 0 records
now i want to copy col2 of the table A into the column 2 of the table B. but long raw data cant be retrieved in a select statement so is there any specific procedure that will copy long raw data or there is any simple way.
i will be really grateful for anybody's help.

Long story short, I'm trying to progress from my first gen iPhone to my iPhone 4s. I sync my first gen as directed to create a backup, and then restore my 4s to the first gen backup. However, once this is done (and it does successfully transfer my first gen phone apps, photos, texts, calendar, etc-etc to my 4s), my 4s phone no longer has 4g data like it did prior to syncing - it doesn't recognize my data plan at all. The only way I can access the internet is through my wi-fi. So then I have to reset to factory settings and re-plus my personal settings into the 4s but then I lose everything from the first gen transfer. Any thoughts and/or recommendations/suggestions?
