Please Help, I have always been able to watch all my fav shows on my MacBook now all of a sudden iTunes takes forever to download them and they won't play, they are frozen and I can only hear sound. I reported the problem weeks ago and I reported it for about 5 tv shows and tonight it's doing it again. I am at the end of my rope spending all this money and waiting hours to encounter a problem like this please help!

How do i email apple so i can maybe redownload it or at least not get charged for something that I can't even watch?

  • Purchased TV Show won't play

I recently purchased a TV Show with iTunes and it was successfully downloaded. However, it won't play on iTunes and also will not play on Quicktime when I tried to open it in Finder. (stating it was a protect file or something like that) How can I fix this problem?

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you, but I can tell you that I'm experiencing the same thing. We just bought an Apple TV (I just set it up tonight). I had purchased a TV show for the kids on iTunes a couple nights earlier, but when I went to play it on Apple TV it said that it is an unrecognized format? Now why would Apple sell content that was not in the format to play on its own equipment?
I looked through the files to see what difference there might be because all of the free iTunes video plays fine. The only difference I could find was that this purchased show is 853x480 whereas the other videos are 640x480. I don't think that should make a difference, so it seems that something else is going on. Hopefully someone will have an answer.

  • Videos won't play in iTunes

TV, Video Podcast, Movies - none of them play in iTunes 10.5.3.  A windows pops up, you have the PAUSE button showing as if it's playing but nothing is happening, just a still shot of the video.  They play fine in quicktime.
    I re-installed iTunes, no luck.

My friend sent me a music video, but it won't play in
iTunes. It is formatted so that it should play, but
all I see is white, green, and orange bars! The file
plays in QuickTime now that I changed my setting to
"Safe Mode" and also plays on my iPod, but what do I
do for it to work in iTunes!? Thank you in advance
    for the help!

  • I rec'd a CD with audio files. The suffix is .v09, and they won't play on iTunes. Any idea what I should do?

I rec'd a CD with audio files. The suffix is .v09, and they won't play on iTunes. Any idea what I should do?
    I have a MacBook, OS X.

No helpful information seems to be available about this, except that on Windows .v09 indicates an unknown extension - in other words they could be anything. What do you get if you highlight the file and hit command-i - does the info pane give you any file type?
The best thing would be to ask the person who sent you the CD what they are; if you can't do this you can only try opening it in various programs. Audacity is a free audio editor which can open a number of formats. You could try dragging it to a browser icon in case it's Flash, or try the Windows Media Player. However there's a good chance that it's one of the obscure audio formats, in which case you very likely won't be able to play it.

  • Tv shows show up and play in itunes but only one episode makes it to ipod?

My itunes purchased tv shows show up and play in itunes. As far as my ipod, only one episode will show up under tv shows. The other episodes don't show up under movies either. Can someone please help me? Strange that 1 of the episodes will show up on ipod but no others. They were all purchased on itunes.

    Check your sync preferences.
There are now options to sync only watched / unwatched episodes, for example, which may be causing this.
    Connect the iPod.
Wait for iTunes to recognize it.
Click on the name of the iPod.
You'll see your Summary page open up in front of you.
Click on the tab for TV shows and set it how you want.
Do this for all of the other tabs concerning file types you want on your iPod.
Then, click the Apply button (lower right-hand corner)
iTunes should now update your iPod preferences, and also the files on the iPod.

  • Song won't play on itunes but plays on quicktime

I just downloaded an entire album (not off itunes). However when i click on the song in finder, iTunes opens up but doesn't even display my song. Nothing happens. Not only does it not play, there is not evidence I even clicked on the song.
However when I open it on Quicktime is plays just fine.
I made an email account containing one of the songs that won't play. If someone can maybe dissect why the song won't play in iTunes I'd greatly appreciate it.
    <Edited by Host>
I've attached the song to the first email sent to myself. Maybe if you could look at how it's encoded or something to help figure this out.
    Thanks in advance!

MP3 files have structures which can vary according to the dialect of mp3 used. Some applications will only look at a file if it is perfect. Some are willing to try pretty much anything. (Like reading a post on Apple Discussion. If somebody omits grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure I might not even try reading it, but some are willing to try and can make sense of it in the end.) There's something not quite right with the file (um, if this is of dubious origins it might not be surprising). iTunes won't look at it, but Quicktime is willing to have a go and can make enough sense of it to play it.
I opened the file with MP3Trimmer (well worth the minimal shareware fee IMHO, and has a pretty liberal trial version). Normally it would open a file like that in a few seconds. It took it about a minute of scanning before it did. I then saved the file in mp3Trimmer (it doesn't recode it so there's no additional quality loss) and it fixed whatever it didn't like and I could add it to iTunes.

I have a 5th gen ipod and recently all of my video podcasts stopped showing up in my ipod.  They still show up and play in itunes, just not in my video podcast list on my ipod.  All of the podcasts are Quicktime Large.  For some reason my ipod has stopped supporting Quicktime Large.  Now I've had to redownload every video podcast as Quicktime Small.
Anyone have any ideas whether this is from the the software version 1.3 and if they'll fix it in the next update?

I'm having same problem, but QT Small videos are also not getting synced.

  • HD movie and tv show files won't play in iTunes 10.6.3.

Just did a fresh install of Mountain Lion and for some reason now HD movie and tv show files won't play.  I get a black screen.
Standard Def tv shows and movies are still playing fine though.
Oh and  yes I already tried switching it to 32-bit mode via the "Get Info" screen.  Same problem results.
    Any suggestions?

I think I have the same problem. Every time I play some HD movies in iTunes the movie seems to be stuck and the screen black. If I scrub the movie forward I can see the picture, even captions, but I can't play them. I said some because there are certain movies that DO play. I mean HD ones, SD video plays fine. But I couldn't find any clue. It's not a matter of file size, neither a matter of resolution, compressio... I'll wait for an update (system and/or iTunes) and if nothing happens I think I'll dig a little more. This is no big issue for me since they ALL seem to play perfectly when I select AirPlay to my Apple TV.
    I'll try checking tags

  • Help! My Movies Won't Play!

I Bought Shakespeare In Love, And It Plays Fine.
About A Month Later, I Bought Without A Paddle, But That Won't Play.
I Bought Both Through Apple iTunes, And The First Still Works Perfectly.
    Any Suggestions?

    Hi Yellowlabisha,
If your iPod is having a problem playing this movie, then have you tried resetting your iPod? To reset an iPod:
First, toggle your iPod's "Hold" switch back and forth a couple of times (be sure to leave it on the white side of the switch, which is the Off position).
Then, press and hold the Menu and Select (center) buttons together for 5-10 seconds.
You might need to attempt this step several times. For more effect, you could try connecting your iPod to a power source while you reset it.
If that doesn't help, then try restoring your iPod to factory settings. For instructions, check out this Knowledge Base article:
    Restoring iPod to factory settings
If your iPod is playing the audio, but not displaying the video, of the movie, then let's check your TV Out settings.
From the main menu on your iPod, navigate to "Videos > Video Settings". You will see an option called "TV Out", and make sure that this sis set to either "Off" or "Ask".
Also, be sure that you are accessing your videos through the "Videos" menu, as opposed to the Music menu, or else your iPod will not display the visuals of the file when playing it.
Any help after trying those things? If not, then what exactly is the problem here?

  • 2nd slide show won't play

After creating a dvd with two slide shows using iDVD, the second slide show will not play past the first image. The first show plays with no problem.
When the second show is activated the first image comes up but I can't advance to any of the others.
It isn't frozen as I can return to the main menu and can still activate the first show.
I've tested on 3 different DVD players with the same result
The theme is the basic green linen with the theme graphic and drop zone replaced by a plain black background and two slideshow buttons.
Both slide shows are set to manual advance, fade through black and no audio or video. The images were imported directly from iPhoto. The first has 82 images the second 42 (combination of jpeg and tiff files).
I've replaced all of the images with different files from other shoots but still get the same result. I've also recreated the project from scratch twice to no avail.
Any suggestions? Anyone else run into this?
    Thanks!

I have experienced totally similar circumstances. My husband thought that I had posted your email. I have gone beyond pulling my hair out.....
I traveled 1500 miles this summer to scan 1000 old family black and white photos and slides. I am composing an idvd production using 500 slides that I have brought in from iphoto. Before placing in iphoto, I took all of them through Photoshop and placed a title on each photo. My idvd is composed of 6 slideshows, each ranging between 50 - 98 photos. After burning, they all play back on my ibook, although they have been burned on my standing machine. Playing them on a tv DVD, one particular slide show will not advance. It stays on the first photo. It will not advance, ever. I am using the Memories theme from 5.0, manual advance, and page flip. (I have tried several other transition options) I have burned a minimum of 20 DVDs with the same outcome. I have tried eliminating photos, using folders, I have made every adjustment that I can think of. I narrowed it down to 2 photos that caused slide shows to not open, and then after I eliminated them from the DVD, that very same slide show still will not advance. I have made sure all existing programs were turned off, and that I have file share off....
My super drive uses a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-104
Up until this year, all DVD slide shows ran without a hitch. Whether I use Apple DVD's or Memorex, I get the same problems. I have spent alot of money on this DVD and seems that I should have a result. I'm afraid to upgrade to TIGER. My family is waiting for their copies.
    Any suggestions for me???????
This is my first posting and am not familiar with how it goes, but am hoping that we can solve our problems!

  • Purchased TV show won't play on Apple TV

i have two apple tv in my house. we bought a season of a kids show and when we went to play them it says it is a format not recognized. we bought them from iTunes:) Now the strangest thing is they play fine on the other apple tv we have in another room. Any ideas on why this unit is acting so strange?

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you, but I can tell you that I'm experiencing the same thing. We just bought an Apple TV (I just set it up tonight). I looked through the files to see what difference there might be because all of the free iTunes video plays fine. The only difference I could find was that this purchased show is 853x480 whereas the other videos are 640x480. I don't think that should make a difference, so it seems that something else is going on. Hopefully someone will have an answer.

  • Please HELP! iPod Nano won't play songs

I just got my iPod nano yesterday and absolutely loved it. I took some of my friendssongs from his PC. Then I tryed using ipod agent to put them into itunes. It said that there was an error. Now when I chose a song the song will come up, it won't play, but instead go to the next song and same thing happens. Now itunes won't even recongiz or pop up when it is plugged in

The iPod is designed to sync to one computer as it copies the music to a special file for the iPod OS and software to play.
You can enable "disk mode" and use that to transfer any file back and forth, but the iPod won't play music files stored in the "disk mode" portion you set in iTunes Preferences with the ipod plugged in.
Basically the software you used to transfer the music out of the "special file" back into iTunes is not authorized, it's a "hack". So Apple routinely disables the hacks because of agreements to protect the music from piracy.
Another thing is the music you got from your friend may indeed by ACC/"Fairplay" copy protected music bought from the iTunes Music Store, unless your computer is one of the five authorized, it won't play.
Also because you hooked your iPod to your friends PC, the "ownership" might have changed and Apple may have employed something that your iPod is no longer recognized as yours.
What you probably have to do is use the iPod software to "reset" your iPod, clear out everything in the process and just hook it to your computer.
If you want to transfer uncopy protected, non-copy righted "free" music to your computer from another computer, enable the iPod's "disk mode" and set a size to balance between the music in your "special file" and the needs of what you intend to transfer.
Once you get home, transfer the music files into your iTunes, then you can copy them to the "special file" so the iPod can play them.
It's a bit complicated, but's it's designed to prevent mass theft of music (so the artists will provide their music online) and keep the benefit of syncing/playlists in line.
