HELP, My Zen Micro Is Screwed

I was importing music into my Zen Micro, and after i did, i closed the Creative Media Explorer. My Zen Micro did the normal thing with the pic of the file cabinet as it docked and it said please wait... . But after about 5 to 0 minutes it kept doing that and i tried to turn it off and it froze. As of this moment ( 45 min. later) it still says please wait, yet theres no pic of the file cabinent and i can't turn it off or see any backlight.
Can someone tell me wat i should do?

Hi,
Sorry I can't help you. I just wanted to let you know I have the same exact problem. It started three days ago and I've been going back and forth with creative support and nothing has worked. I am beginning to grow really distressed. I feel a little better now because after seeing that it's happening with someone else, it is most likely not the player. I am running windows 98 SE as well. I also have an AMD Duron processor. I have a new computer on the way with windows XP I really hope it works. But now I have a new problem. I listed it on the front page of this forum a few minutes ago. My player froze and now only boots up in rescue mode. I am getting so frustrated with my player. If you figure anything out will you be as kind as to send me a message on how you got your player working again? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
Nick

  • Need help with Zen Micro and Win

    Hi,
I bought a Zen Micro 2 days ago and I can't get it to work with my Win XP machine.
I did what was told in the manual: install the software first then plug the player.
When I plug the player in I get the following message:
    Found New Hardware:
    Zen Micro
According to the manual, it should be detected and the drivers installed automatically.
But it dosen't. Instead I get the Wizard that try to find the drivers and it dosen't find them.
I let the battery get a full charge and I tried again. Same results.
I tried to update the firmware but since the player is not detected that didn't work.
I also tried to get the new MediaSource/Zen driver (ZENM_PCAPP_LB_4_00_8_PDE.exe) but that didn't fix my problem either.
I also tried to install the Creative Zen Micro Driver version .27.02 but it tell me that I can't install it because the user I tried to install it with is not an administrator. But this is not true since there is only one user on this machine and it's the administrator. First software that tell me this.
I'm using XP Home with SP2.
    Thanks for the help.

The reason it won't install is because the drivers aren't installed.
I've seen a very few others with this strange error about administrati've pri'veleges, so I'm wondering if it's a Windows issue here. You could try downloading the drivers from to see if this is any different.
Try creating another administrator account and see if it will install from that, and try searching back (perhaps someone had found a solution). I think there's also a way of running a program with forced pri'veleges, perhaps Google can turn something up on that.
I remember one user needs to change some rights of the registry in order to install the software. It looks like under some cases, the login account does not have sufficient rights to write registry.

  • Need help with Zen Micro Photo: It stays in recovery m

Just recently, my zen micro photo has been staying in recovery mode. I have tried all of the four options available? to me in recovery mode. .) Clean up 2.) Formatt All 3.) Reload Firmware? 4.) Reboot. When I try "Reload Firmware". It doesn't really "reload". All it does is erase the current firmware, which it has done several times. My computer doesn't really realize the player. It doesn't allow me to acess my songs, which have already been deleted. It says the "Player is not connected". At first, I thought I needed to charge. I charged it to maximmum. The battery is "FULL". Also, the firmware update doesn't recognize the player either. Whenever I select the reboot option, my player reboots to recovery mode. This does no good, as I have tried all of the available options in recovery mode, and they have done no good. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.Message Edited by Damaniscool on 04-2-200707:29 PM

You have to create playlists using Creative MediaSource Organizer. Playlists can't be made and named in the ZM. Hope this helps!
You can make playlists on the player also, although it's much harder and there's very little control over editing. See this thread.

  • Autoplay error. Please help- my(Zen Micro) software won't lo

I have a 5GB Zen Micro and when I try to install my software I get the "Utility for Windows AutoPlay screen has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." message.
I'm running XP and have updated Quicktime (that did the trick last time).
Can anyone help? I'm sorry, I did try to go through the FAQ but I didn't see anything and I'm trying to feed my kid and pack for a trip.
    Thanks!

first of all, sorry for my bad english..im brazilian, and i got my zen micro 5gb (black) in last week..i really enjoyed it!! so funny, functional, and practice, etc.. whatever, yesterday i was listening and a went in menu to turn on back lights.. and it works.. the lights turned on.. but the player has stopped.. doesnt respond any action..then, i tried so many times displugin the batery.. but when initialize stopped on CREATIVE logo. copyrightt 2004... already tried connecting on pc.. but nothing.. last night.. i wait the battery went down.. but when i put it to recharge.. shows the same problem.. i really dont know what should i do..so.. is this.. if anyone could help me i will be so happy..thanks a lot

    Oi!
Tried a disk cleanup? To run a Disk Cleanup you need to access the Rescue Mode on the Zen Micro. To access the Rescue Mode: remove the battery, hold the power switch to the "on" position and KEEP IT HELD TO "ON" while reinserting the battery. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu. Note: Disk cleanup should not remove your tracks. It searches through the disk for files and rebuilds the index, and can be useful for correcting any strange behaviour.

  • Need Help Urgently Zen Micro "Firmware Problem&qu

    Hello,
I've had my Zen Micro for a year now and due to a "screw up" when i start my player it displays the error "Firmware Problem" and start up in recovery mode. When I try to reload the firmware the update application on my pc it says "Your player is not connected" now can I fix this so I can start using my wonderful Zen again?
PC Specs If needed: Windows Media Center Service Pack 2

Thanks for the reply, but that firmware download doesn't work for me. As I said in my original post, my player is not recognized as being connected when it is. It is not my computer because Jukebox opens up when it detects the device and it is listed among my removable hardware.
I've downloaded the software, but nothing happens after the "select your language" prompt. It just says "Your player is not connected please connect your player" with a grayed out 'Upgrade' button and a darkened 'Close' button. I've tried unplugging and reconnecting the USB, but it still doesn't recognize that it's there.
Anyone else have an idea?Message Edited by lizzievee on 02-04-2007:29 AM

  • HELP! Zen Micro 6GB Firmware prob

My first problem is that my Zen Micro has a firmware problem. After it shows the "Firmware Problem" message it goes to the recovery menu. I've tried "Clean Up" and "Format All" but I am still unable to use my Zen Micro. The second problem is that the firmware upgrading software won't recognize the Zen Micro. I can still sync music to my Zen with Windows Media Player but the program used to update the firmware will not recognize it. I'm running Microsoft Windows XP SP 2 on a Toshiba Satellite M40X. I've also tried updating the firmware on another desktop computer running Microsoft Windows XP SP 2 but it still will not recognize the Zen Micro. I've tried installing drivers yet the program still won't recognize my Zen Micro. Is there any other way to get the firmware onto my Zen Micro or am I out of luck?

Bump. I sent an e-mail to Creative and they were of no help. They told me to send it in and that I would have to pay for it. Is there any other way to install the firmware, or possibly better drivers that I could download other than the ones from Creative's website.

  • Help on Zen Micro connecti

Hello, Im using Window XP pro. and after fully charged my Zen Micro, I wanted to put music on there... but for some reason when I connect my Zen Micro and open the Zen Micro Media Explorer it says "Your product is not connected. Please connect your Zen Micro" I've been looking around the forum for other people's problem... They have they same problem but they are using ME window, I tried using their method but it does not work. I have a Zen Micro 6GB. Please help me.

Just to keep the other thread clean, I replied here...
    Read <a href='http://www.nomadness.net/modules.php?name=FAQ&myfaq=yes&id_cat=8&categories =Nomad+Jukebox+Zen#228' target=_blank>this[/url]
Make sure you have Windows Media Player 0 installed as well as Service Pack or 2 for Windows XP. Make sure you download the 3 hotfixes, checked for wdfmgr.exe, and also changed the registry. Open up Device Manager (Control Panel -> Perfom & Mainten -> System -> Hardware tab -> Device Manager), or if your lazy like me: Start, Run, devmgmt.msc, but I like to use Windows Key + PauseBreak -> Hardware tab -> Device Manager.
Anyway check if you see the Micro listed and if you see any exclamation marks on it.
But DO NOT USE RELOAD FIRMWARE. It will not help your situation.Message Edited by DM on 2-3-2005 05:27 PM

  • Help with Zen Micro installat

I bought a Zen Micro and came home extremely excited, having previously owned a Zen Xtra 30GB complimented by an Audigy 2 soundcard. I put in the installation cd; as the drivers for the Micro are being installed, it stops at 99% saying "Jukebox Driver" and an error message. It then says: "Do you wish to continue with installation?" I've tried yes and no. With both answers, my player does not get detected. I've tried uninstalling and installing several times. I went on the support site and downloaded the Driver update. When installing that, the installation stops at 87% and again gives me the same message.
Please someone tell me how to fix this so I can enjoy my Micro.

My Quicktime is completely up to date with all updates. As for downloading the latest drivers, I said I already tried that for Zen Media Explorer. Being I'm on dialup, I really do not have the patience to do the same for Mediasource as it's a 30MB+ file. I also had Mediasource previously from Audigy 2 and my Zen Xtra, so I don't see why that would be the problem.
Apologies, I missed that last sentence.
Aside from ZMME have you download the latest DRIVERS though? i.e. Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03
Please, someone tell me what I should do. The very first time I installed, Windows detected it, but that has nothappened since. I've also tried going in through Add New Hardware in the control panel, but Windows cannot find the drivers on the CD or on the internet. So I'm truly lost in what I'm supposed to do.
The drivers are located in C:\Program Files\Creative\Jukebox 3 Drivers, try pointing the driver update there (or at least check the directory exists and has files in it). Of course if the drivers have not extracted properly this might be your issue.
Also try installing the drivers from Windows Safe Mode.

  • Help with zen micro! songs not appearing in creative mediasorce organiz

  • HELP my Zen Micro isn't recognised by my compute

My zen micro plays fine but I cannot connect it to my computer. IT FREEZES!! So I can't add new songs on it. What can I do? I'm afraid to format since I still might not be able to connect it to my computer. And then all I will be left with is a piece of plastic that cost me close to 300$.
    Thanks

    Accommodations,
You need to download and install the respecti've plugin file too before the Organizer can detect the player. First determine the firmware version of your current Zen Micro player. If it's version .xx.xx, you need to get those Zen/Nomad Jukebox Plugin. If it's version 2.xx.xx, then get the PlaysForSure Devices Plugin file.

  • Help! Zen Micro freezed on "Creative" scr

    Hi all,
my Zen Micro has gone crazy... all of a sudden it switched itself on, and it just stays on the "CREATIVE" screen and doesnt do anything.
I cant even update the firmware because it wont connect through the USB.
Also i tried Disk Cleanup and Formatting and everything. but nothing works
It just freezes at those screens.
    Some one please help

if your micro ever freezes, I would just get an RMA to return it to Creative to get a replacement. I did that, and within a week, they mailed me a brand new zen micro which works perfectly fine (ie. no freezing, no errors, no battery loss issues, etc...)...

  • Zen Micro badly screwed

I have had this player for about 2 years or so. It is a 5gb Zen micro, the nonphoto kind. Well I imported some tracks into it yesterday and made a playlist. I did this with a game running and a TeamSpeak server and client. When i went to listen to it all I hear is the music no vocals. I can hear no words at all. I have set the volume up to 2 when I normally have it at 8-0. CI tried other headphones and the same thing. The tracks on my PC I imported are fine. Is this a problem with th eheadphone jack or will reimporting all the tracks fix it's
I am quite concerned the player is dieing since I don't quite have money for a new one. Any input is appriciated.

Wow. I actually wish that happened to me (some tracks I would really like to have music only and no vocals). Lucky.
BUT, did you try to load them without all those programs running? How about trying to go into recovery mode and doing a disk clean up? Let us know! Good luck!
