Help! need info re. digital color bar invasion!
Hi all, I hope this is the correct forum for this problem. If not tell me where I need to be to get info re. not being able to get rid of a rash of color bars that are appearing on my video camera monitor when I play back the footage I shot today. It wasn't there during the recording or the earlier playback.Now tho when I'm trying to import it for editing, they have appeared.
I turned the camera off and turned it back on hoping it would stop,but no luck. It was originally one set of pixalated colors and now it's black bars with colored sparkles.ooops! back to colored bars covered with little squares.You can see the footage playing behind the bars,but the sound is also cutting in and out. Anybody ever have this experience?? Aaarrghhh! Thanks,Kate

The tape may have been recorded with the dirty heads, so you may not be able to use that footage.
What happens if you record on a new tape after running the cleaning tape?

Help needed in generating random colors...

Help needed with Internet Explorer Address Bar
Hi, i have internet explorer 6, and usually i can press down on the address bar and show past visited websites. However when i delete history as well as cookies, there remains some website links that i haven't visited for a long time. For example when i type b, a bbc link appears from the bar. However it doesn't appear if i don't press b. What's also weird is that some times the bar shows some word files, pictures or folders that i have visited on my desktop and from other locations on the computer, as well as searches on places such as google as well as downloaded files. So i was wondering how can i delete this, so that for example when i type www. it doesn't give me the option of weather or a website called www1.bottomdollar.com. I hope that is clear, basically i would like to delete everything from the address bar. I would really appreciate it if someone can help me on this. Thanks

As Stefan has suggested in the previous posting you can delete this links in IE under:
Tools Internet options --> delete cookies, delete files, clear history.
Dont forget to mark the option delete all offline content under delete files.
Furthermore if you want to clear the AutoComplete please go to the Content tab.
There you can find the buttons in the personal information area. -

I was wondering if I could get some input. I have just
re-designed our magazine's site, www.easternsurf.com
I used Pop-Up menu function in Fireworks 8 to generate our
Navigator bar. For the most part everything has been working well,
BUT we've had a couple of complaints that the navigator bar's
pull-down menus get stuck behind the photos/banner ads/etc. instead
of in front of them when viewing in Internet Explorer. I'm on the
Mac platform (OSX Tiger/Macromedia Studio 8) and have seen no
problems viewing in Safari, Firefox and Netscape. The only
complaints have come from Internet Explorer users. A couple of
people updated their browser to the newest version and the problem
disappeared, however we've still had a couple of people that have
written in that the newest version of IE is still not displaying
properly.
Also we've got a strip of button ads running down the left
hand side of each page and I've also seen another issue that's
common on sites of this type...when the pulldown menu overlaps with
a Flash element, there is a problem with the screen re-draw. I've
seen this on several other sites and know it's a common problem,
but does anyone know of a workaround where this won't happen? I
just noticed that signing on to Adobe's site, there almost seems to
be a command where the menu keeps re-drawing at a very rapid rate
so this won't happen.
Any input would be greatly appreciated, although I'm Mac all
the way, we are a business and have to get this site visible for
everyone!

After reading solutions online and trying them for my settings for 2 days I am still unable to print what I am seeing on my screen in Adobe CS5. I calibrated my monitor, but am not sure once calibration is saved if I somehow use this setting in Photoshop’s color management.
The files I am printing are photographs of dogs with lots of detail I digitally painted with my Wacom tablet in Photoshop CS5 and then printed with Epson Stylus 1400 on inkjet paper 20lb with slight luster.
My Printed images lose a lot of the detail & come out way to dark with a reddish cast and loss of detail when I used these settings in the printing window:
Color Handling: Photoshop manages color, Color management -ICM, OFF no color adjustment.
When I change to these settings in printer window: Color Handling: Printer manages color. Color management- Color Controls, 1.8 Gamma and choose Epson Standard it prints lighter, but with reddish cast and very little detail and this is the best setting I have used so far.
Based on what I have read on line, I think the issue is mainly to do with what controls are set in the Photoshop Color Settings window and the Epson Printer preferences. I have screen images attached of these windows and would appreciate knowing what you recommend I enter for each choice.
Also I am confused as to what ICM color management system to use with this printer and CS5:
What is the best ICM to use with PS CS5 & the Epson 1400 printer? Should I use the same ICM for both?
Do I embed the ICM I choose into the new files I create?
Do I view all files in the CS5 workspace in this default ICM?
Do I set my monitor setting to the same ICM?
If new file opens in CS5 workspace and it has a different embedded profile than my workspace, do I convert it?
Do I set my printer, Monitor and PS CS5 color settings to the same ICM?
Is using the same ICM for all devices what is called a consistent workflow?

Help needed please, everytime I try to update the software version on my iphone it comes up with a message saying it could not be completed and is now frozen with the apple picture and progress bar on it. Do I unplug it and hope the macbook pro sees it again, I also stupidly did not back up before starting the download which I realise I will have to go back to the previous back up. This keeps happening, everytime I do this type of update, I'm starting to think I should just give up on updating my software on the Iphone. I thought it was happening because I was using a window based computer to do the updates, this time I used my Macbook Pro. Please somebody help

Hello, I need to add 4 extra bars in the middle of one of my projects. Therefore all the tracks need to be split at that point and moved 4 bars further along. Is there an easy way to do this? I cant see a way without painstakingly splitting each track at that point, trying to move each of the tracks individually along by 4 bars and trying to line them all up exactly again. Ive tried this a few times but their not in exact sinc. Any help at all greatly appreciated! Thanks Declan
Use the arrangement track. If you define arrangement regions, you can move sections of your song around, across all tracks.

I was trying to test opaque font (the string has a foreground color and a background color), but i can't find the method for doing that.
i can change foreground by Graphics2D.setPaint(Color.black).
Anybody know how to change the background of the string?

Help needed with DisplayConfigX for Philips 32PW9551/12 CRT TV
Hi everyone,
I've been following this part of Apple Discussions closely for some time now, and I realise that I'm not the only one having trouble connecting my Mac Mini (Core Duo) to my TV. I'm hoping that BSteely or somebody else here could take a look at my specific problem. I'll try to provide as much relevant info as I can, if more input is needed, please specify.
Here goes :
TV model : Philips 32PW9551/12 That's a CRT, but with HDMI input. The manual says that it should accept 480p, 576p, 720p and 1080i.
Cable : DVI-HDMI
Using VNC over Airport when things go wrong, resetting back to the original resolutions.
Problem : can't get 720p resolution to work, only 640x480 fills screen. 640x480 is too low, since Remote Buddy's menu does not even fit on it.
When I select 1280x720 the image is on the left of the TV, leaving a wide black bar on the right and dropping a lot on the right. Other resolutions either don't work at all, are seriously overscanned (no dock, no menu) or are horrible to look at.
I've been fiddling with DisplayConfigX and SwitchResX, but I feel it's out of my league, so I'm not getting anywhere. I did export settings via SwitchResX, I hope that provides some insights.

Mini Intel Core Duo Mac OS X (10.4.8)(1280x594 60Hz NTSC) gives fairly stable
image, big black border on
top, fallen off image on the left but right and
bottom seem ok.
You might want to run with that and see if you can dial it in better. SwitchRes X has arrows you can use in the right-hand side of the custom pane where you can try and center and size the image better.
Another thing. I don't seem to be able to enter the
pixel clock number exactly as you specify. It keeps
changing it slightly. Eg, after rebooting, it says
68,4 in SRX, even though I entered 69,75 before...
This is explained in the SRX documentation. When you make a request of the hardware that it somehow can't satisfy, it just tries to do the next closest thing. But you don't get and feedback of what the hardware can and cannot do. You only get unexpected results as you have mentioned.
And also, should the vertical scan rate not be
exactly 60 Hz ? Other numbers don't seem to be
accepted by the TV, but when making custom timings,
these scan rate numbers seem to be changing all the
time.
If you look at the EDID data you posted at the begining of this thread, towards the bottom it states that your TV will work from with any vertical frequency in the range of 49Hz to 61Hz. You don't need to use 60Hz but that is a standard. There is very little downside to deviating from that with and LCD display. -

Unfortunately this is very difficult because the top half of your post, your really the only one that can answer what the setup should be. The adjustments are made based on the acoustics of your room and how everything sounds noone can really give you info on it because every house, and room has different acoustics. The walls, insulation, carpet or bare floors, basement or main floor are just some examples of what can make a difference in sound reproduction. By the way NHT (Now Hear This) are excellent speakers. For bass and treble, the music I listen too requires a high treble content so I usually have it at 7 out of 10 but my bass is at 4 out of 10. The sub base should be fine where it is.
Did your receiver come with an Audessy mic for calibration. I would use that for a basic setup and go from there I am not sure if on your unit it will do frequecy but I think it did.
Your volume settings look fine again personal preference there is right or wrong.
For you listening mode Preset you should have an auto setting I am at work so it may take a coule of hours for me to get back to you as I have to go through your manual and see what you would set it up with so please bare with me. I will list the info as I read it so it may not be in the order you have it.
I will have to make a second post since I can't go back and edit this one. -

Hi All,Help needed to run JSTL 1.1 in Tomcat 6.0.16. I am trying to run the example given in http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/jndi-datasource-examples-howto.html The example tries to connect to MySQL database from JSP using JSTL and JNDI Datasource.I am running the example using Eclipse 3.4.2 using Sysdeo plugin to start and stop Tomcat server from Eclipse IDE.

I'm currently trying to log and capture from a Cannon miniDV ZR700 via fire wire400. Although I can control the camera, all I see in the capture window is color bars? Am I missing something. I've done this before, I've also seen this before but for the life of me I can't remember what the problem was.

You have a Canon product, that is what happened; Canon products don't play well in the digital sandbox with other devices. When you disconnected your external drive, the Canon felt like playing along. You should probably add another firewire bus through your express card slot, if your MacBook Pro has it.
