Help! Need software to do "true" image backup of entire MAC HD/SSD from BOOTABLE CD?

I have just purchased a MacBook Air 2011.
Before I even boot up the laptop for the first time to setup the system, I want to do a "true" image backup of all of the partitions on my MacBook SSD.
For this model, I noticed that there are 2 partitions at stock: Macintosh HD and Recovery HD.
However, when I boot to Arconis True Image or Paragon Hard Disk Manager (both are Windows applications which I can start from a bootable CD), these programs sees 3 partitions: EFI Boot, Macintosh HD, and Recovery HD.
What I want is a program which I can BOOT to on a BOOTABLE CD and can then do a "true" image backup (either partition or sector-by-sector raw copy based) of the ENTIRE SSD to include all partitions and partitioning information.
What I am NOT looking for is a program that I need to launch within Mac OSX. This is because I want to image the disk to preserve the "stock" state of all the software on my MacBook. This way, after I restore from the backup in the future, the MacBook will appear as if it is being turned on for the first time, asking you to enter your setup info.
Is this possible at all? I have looked at Arconis True Image or Paragon Hard Disk Manager, but I am not confident that either is backing up the EFI based partitions correctly.
Lastly, once I have Boot Camp installed, I want to use the same program to create another "true" image backup.
Help!!! What are your suggestions?

The EFI partiton is similar to the MBR on Windows systems.
It is the first thing that is accessed when a hard drive is
connected to the system.  It describes the basic disk layout
and if it is a bootable system disk, where the OS is located.
As such, it will be unique for every hard drive and is put there
when the hard drive is formatted.
If you want an "image" of your internal drive, get an external
drive and format it with GUID partitioning (Options... button
in Partitioning tab).
Then boot a USB stick or disk made by the method Thomas
linked to, but open Disk Utility not install Lion.  Select the internal
volume, Macintosh HD unless you renamed it, and click the restore
tab.  If the internal volume is not present in the source field,
drag it there.  Then drag the external volume to the destination
field.  Make sure you have the right volume in the right field.
Then click Restore.  This will take a while so go get some coffee
or a snack.
When this process is complete, you will have a copy of both
the Recovery HD and the system volume on the external drive.
As a bonus, you now have not only an external bootable Recovery HD
but also a bootable OSX, which you can use cloning software
to update to the contents of your internal drive.
You can verify this by openning Terminal when you reboot
and typing
diskutil list
which will list all mounted drives and their partitions
including hidden ones.

Need software which can send images to my editor, have them make selections, share them with me so I can edit the images and send the final results back to them.  Will Lightroom work?

What I would like to do is to use Lightroom as I have been doing with LR 5.7.  Tag certain images to be shared to the Creative Cloud which my editor can then see and tag as to which she would like to see final versions of.  In the best case, I would then see these tags and edit the images as appropriate and save the JPEGs back to the Cloud where she can download them for final production.
    Possible?

  • Help Needed..Fingerprint Identification..Image Manipulation

Norfolk State University Student (Help Needed):
I'm working on Fingerprint Identification using image correlation and/or a feature-based approach.  First, Goal is to minimize the lines of the minutia so that they are one pixel thick.  What services does Labview offer that will help me accomplish this task??

    Hey Snakehead...,
Have you tried improving your original image with better lighting, better camera, better lens, etc.? What image processing have you done already, or are you starting from scratch? I agree with AnalogKid in providing some sample images to the forum so we can get an idea of what you are working with. Have you performed any morphology processing on the image? Have you tried edge detection functions? There are numerous functions that NI provides with their NI Vision software that will help you process your image, it is just finding the right combination that is the toughest part. Last, if you do have the Vision software, I might suggest taking a look at the Vision concepts manual to get an idea of the different functions and their capabilities. Let us know what kind of images you are working with and what you have done so far, and last, what you would like to eventually see. Thanks, and have a great day.

  • Acronis True Image Backup/Restore

Had my 3000 K100 for about a month now - working fine.
Like many others, the one key restore feature, 20 GB "c" drive, hidden partitions all are a bit confusing to me.
I use Acronis True Image to create emergency boot disks, and have an external drive that I use to make an image of my c and d drives.  I do a full backup at least once a week.  So, I really don't have to rely on on the built in Lenovo restore features.
Is there a way to just "turn it off"?  Then I could make my c drive bigger - and not worry about how it would affect the one key restore features, base backups, etc.

    Sankalp,
I too have the error 0x81000033 when running the full system image backup.  I could not assign a drive letter to my 100mb drive with the Disk Management.  So, I went into the diskpart and ran the following commands:
    diskpart
    list disk

  • Help Needed with HTML code for Image Positioning

    Hi All,
Need a little help with some code for positioning images.
    I initially used the following:
This is fine, but the border automatically puts a black border around the photo - how do I change it to white? Is there a way to set margins too, to prevent the text butting up against the photo?
I also used the following code with success:
    <style type="text/css"
    img
    float:right;
    border:2px solid white;
    margin: 0px 0px 15px 20px
    </style>
This code works, however the problem with it is it is not individual to just one photo - it moved all my photos and on that page, I wanted one photo floated to left and another to the right.
If I use this code, how can I make it photo specific, so that it only affects the placement, margins and borders of one photo?
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks

CSS question, not iWeb question. Regardless, use inline CSS styling for the image. You can also wrap the image in its own tag and declare an id or simply declare an id for the img tag, then set the style for the id_name:
    <style type="text/css"
    img#id_name
    float:right;
    border:2px solid white;
    margin: 0px 0px 15px 20px
    </style>
If you want to control the style of more than one image on a page but not all then use a class instead of an id.
the border automatically puts a black border around the photo - how do I change it to white? Is there a way to set margins too, to prevent the text butting up against the photo?
I believe you have discovered a solution for this according to your CSS code. You have set the border to white by looking at the code and adjusting it appropriately. Your margin is declared in the CSS also, adjust the pixels appropriately.
Read up some more on CSS to educate yourself further. I suggest w3schools.com or a CSS forum instead of the iWeb forum if you have CSS questions. It's kind of like if you drive your auto to the supermarket so you decide to go to the supermarket and ask everyone in the produce section to help when you have car problems. All the supermarket does is provide a place to park your auto. If you have car problems then ask a mechanic. iWeb (and most of its users) doesn't specialize in code, it simply provides an area for you to place it. Granted you might get lucky and find a mechanic in the produce section of the supermarket, but you're more likely to find a specialist at an auto swap meet (or CSS coding forum)!

  • Help needed - software installation on Nokia N8

I've got a Nokia N8 and wanted to get "weather maps".  I already have the Nokia weather application, and the SPB Weather application as well.  After looking around on the internet, I found some good information recommending "Weatherbug" for the N8.  Info can be found here:
    http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/reviews/item/12787_WeatherBug.php
    http://store.ovi.com/content/81290
I tried to downloadn and install the program.  I got a message that doing so might also require downloading other software that might be up to 12 megs or so.  (I guessed this was QT, which I already have from my installation of Nokia Bubbles.)
I downloade the sofware, and got a message that I then had to get the first of two downloads.  After the download, the  installation failed, and I got a message that I should click on an icon for something like "smart install" to continue.
Clicking on "Smart Installer ADM" gets me to "Continuing Installation Weather Bug".
I need to connect to the internetI so I click on "connect this time".
Eventually my phone downloads the first of two software downloads, and then the installation fails.
Any advice on a better way to install this program?
Do I have to first update "QT" or something?
Is there any way to get more useful error messages, so I have some idea of what is going on?
Is there a better place to download Weathrbug from ratherr than the OVI store?
Anybody have any idea why there are three things to download to get this one program?

    Hei!
I had big problems installing the new "WRC-live" app from Ovi Store
and also tought it has something to do with the "Qt"-issue. I am not
any kind of tech person, I don't know how the "Qt" works, but I remember
I tried to download the new CNN-app from Nokia Beta Labs few weeks
ago (with no success). Was it the reason to my problems, I don't know for sure.
Using the NSD's search option I found @aspergerguy's excellent post and link
    to this post of @carman58.
I downloaded the qt 4.7.3 from the link above using my N8's own browser via 3.5g
connection (it took some time), installed all the three apps and Vòila!
Now downloading "wrc-live" went well and app is runnig smoothly!
Kudos for @aspergerguy and @carman58! Thank You!

Now I want to select the whole Table and put it as an

  • Help needed for choosing Cisco recommended VM Backup solution for UCCE & CUCM 8.5

    Hi
We are planning to install a reliable backup solution for our UCCE platform ( ESX(i) 4.x & 5.x  )
if someone can share the details of Cisco recommended VM ware backup solution for UCCE 8.5 , it would be really helpful .
    Regards
    Renni John

    Hello,
    -    Snapshot procedure of VMs is not supported by Cisco for UCCE servers.  Please refer table "VMware Feature Support for Contact Center 8.0(2) through 10.x" on below link:
    o    http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Unified_Communications_VMware_Requirements#Supported_Editions_and_Features_of_VMware_vSphere_ESXi.2C_VMware_vCenter_and_VMware_vSphere_Client
    -    Same above link refers to use "Copy" feature of VM to take backup of servers, but it is a very lengthy procedure which requires extensive command line knowledge of UCS.  Moreover VM should be shut down for this procedure.   This can be used as one time backup of server; but cant be used as scheduled back up method.

  • Help needed with multiple and seperate image galleries on 1 site

I'm looking for a simple way to create and manage multiple image galleries (about 100) on a single website. I work for an architect and have a site which has our project portfolio and every project has a page containing a write up with a gallery of only 6 images.  Currently I am using .css to run it. If you hover over one of the 6 thumbnails it opens up a larger image in the same div container. If you move the cursor off the thumbnail the main image goes away leaving a default background. The only problem is my bosses now want each image to be retained in view until you hover over the next thumbnail.
    Any ideas anyone?

I've never see a performance issue with IsSameObject(), although I understand your issue, it seems to be pretty fast.
Saving a global reference to a jclass prevents it from being GC'd, I don't think it prevents it from being unloaded.
I'm not sure I understand your comment about jmethodID's being different for the same method. Technically, the jmethodID is unique for each class image loaded and class loader. So if a class is unloaded and reloaded, or the same class managed to get loaded by two different class loaders, then you might see multiple jmethodID values. But do you know that is happening?
I have seen some race conditions on the JVMTI event callbacks around Method Entry/Exit and Thread Start/End. If you don't use some rawmonitors to protect yourself, you could be executing your callback code for the methodExit event while the thread goes away out from under you. I don't know if that could be an issue, but it caused me to scratch my head quite a bit when I ran into it.

  • Yoga 2 13 system image backup question

    Hello:
I just bought a Yoga 2 13" ultrabook with 128Gb solid state drive. I tried to make an initial system image backup according to the steps in the manual, but could not do it. The manual instructs me to use the Novo button to invoke a menu with "System Backup" as an option. There is no such option on the menu. I found a post on this forum that directed another person to use the Windows 8.1 control panel system backup option.
I did make a Windows 8.1 system image backup, but now I have no idea of what I should do to perform a restore, should I need one.
Is there a conventional process by which I create a USB bootable disk that can then be used to restore the Windows 8.1 image? Or does the OneKey restore have that as an option?
    Bottom line problem is:
I need to make a system image backup that I can use to restore all of my partitions, should I need to do so. And I need the procedure for doing the restore.
    Thanks!

  • [Forum FAQ] Schedule multiple versions of System Image Backup in Windows 8.1

As we known that there is no UI for user to configure Image backup in Windows 8.1, this is a guide for your to schedule multiple versions of System Image Backup.
Step 1: Create a task to schedule an image backup with following command:
    SCHTASKS /Create /SC WEEKLY /D MON /TN WeeklyFullBackup /RL HIGHEST /ST 13:00 /TR “wbAdmin Start Backup -backupTarget:F: -include:C: -allCritical -quiet”
Step 2: Schedule a robocopy to backup the saved image with BAT file:
Please create a new folder (in this example, the new folder is e:\test2) to save your multiple copies of image backup:
Write following batch file to copy backup and rename with backup date:
    *****************BAT********************
    @echo off
    robocopy e:\test1\ e:\test2\ test.wim
    ren e:\test2\test.wim  test_%date:~10,4%%date:~7,2%%date:~4,2%_%time:~0,2%%time:~3,2%.wim
NOTE: e:\test2 is my location to save multiple copies of image backup; e:\test1 is the location I create the system image backup.
This BAT can also help to rename the copy of image backup with date and time like below:
      3.  Set up a basic task in Task schedule:
Note: please make sure the time you configured follows the time you set for image backup in Step 1.
Action -> Create basic task (Name you task) -> Trigger (Set how often this task should be run) -> Action (Start a program) -> Under Program/script, point to your bat file you create in Step 2.b -> Finish
At the end, you can know more about SCHTASKS and Robocopy via following links:
