  • Adobe PE8 Help needed...blocky images when in play mode.

    I have a Problem with blobby images and frame rates ( not sure if frame rates is the correct word!)
    I'm attempting to captured my DVD from disc onto the program, which i have done, It loads ok, however it seems to be all blobby, blocky squares on the screen, as soon as it run plays.  The audio runs fine.
    My system in case anyone wants to know is Dell Dimension DXP051  Intel(R) Pentuim(R) 4CPU 3.00 Ghz 2.99 Ghz 3.50 gb RAM, although there is 4gb in there, i have added the rest in the past 6 months !, why it only show 3.5 i don't know! 1 x 160 gb HDD, 1 x 500 HDD, both internal and a 1.5 TB external HDD, plenty of HDD space! although i'm not sure if the RAM is enough? i have quite a few software programs, however I never have more than 1-4 running at the same time, only have PE8 running on its own at the moment.
    Anyway going back to my issue, it seems to do this even if i put 3,4 images in the timeline, ( on a seperate project) is this an issue with my PC, graphics card to do with PE8, I have installed the updates by the way. Any help would be appreciated.
    I do not seem to have this issue with other picture programes.
    Thanks
    Andrew

    Andrew,
    Glad that things went well. One needs to read the instructions for each driver, and never trust that the procedure is exactly as it was only a month ago for the same card. Normally, it is and is only a simple download and execute, but I have seen times, where one had to first disable certain features in the card driver's console first. Always check carefully.
    The two main drivers to be aware of are the video and the audio, as they often get broken by OS updates. Next most likely is not really a driver, but the firmware in one's DVD burner. Those get replaced about every 6 mos. +/-. Many of the other drivers are provided by the OS, but there can be many exceptions.
    There are some utilities, that claim to get all necessary drivers on a system updated automatically. I have never seen one that worked very well. This is especially true with the video and audio drivers. What those utilities say is up to date is usually 9 mos. out of date and maybe 6-10 updates out. I would not trust such utilities, and would just do it by hand and get the drivers from the mfgr's. site, at the first sign of trouble.
    Good luck,

  • Help needed with Copying DVD error in Toast Titanium 6

    (I tried to post to Roxio forum but couldn't get registered) ... hope someone can help
    I made an iDVD of a school event (Métis Gathering) and burned it to DVD through the iDVD program (iDVD 6)
    I used Toast (6.0.3) to make 8 copies of the dvd.
    Now I need to make more copies, but Toast never finishes the 'recording' (copying) session ... it gives me "couldn't complete the last command: I/O error, result code -36."
    I'm using the original DVD, which was only played once and I've kept it as a master .... I don't see any scratches or anything on it.
    What's happening? What can I do?
    Any help is appreciated, thank you
    Eliz
    iMac 17", Intel Core Duo , 512 Ram, 160 GB   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    With the luxury of two internal burners, I've never
    used Toast that way.
    I find it a luxury just to have a dvd burner!!
    Any way, back to the saga .... I tried the same original master dvd at home again, no copying possible, so setting the speed wasn't a factor
    So, I put in the copy I made at school .... I made a disk image with disc utility, then burned the image ... at a slower speed ... with toast. Seems fine. I'm going to save the disc image as a data dvd to use as the future master, no more copying with toast for me!
    Since I've managed to overcome this little problem using a second computer (the luxury of which I won't have, come July), i think I'm okay ... just need to remember to try a slower burn speed from the start next time ...
    But, why wouldn't it read the dvd? almost like it had a shelf life or something
    Thank you for your help

  • Help needed on Encore DVD 2.0 Transcoding Process!

    Hi Guys,
    I'm really first running Encore DVD 2.0 on WinXP SP2. My Computer is P4 3.0 GHz with 2 GB of Ram.
    I have used Premiere elements converted the media file to 20GB .avi file ( 1.40 Hr duration) and exported to Encore DVD 2.0. In Encore, I have created menus, added subtitles and eveythingelse which needed for building disc. I've selected 1 Pass VBR which I believed it would make transcoding faster.
    It is now in the transcoding progress ( Building disc), I have a feeling that I might did something wrong since the transcoding progress has been taking more than 8 hours. In the transcoding box, please see
    http://www.maicans.com/images/Image.JPG
    The upper bar has moved to and stayed like that since the beginning, only the lower bar is still moving.
    Does anyone has any idea why it takes so much time for transcoding. Have I done anything wrong?
    Thanks,
    Bank Vichayotin

    Never-Ending transcoding/importing? Here's the fix.

  • Help needed to add an image to a datagrid cell in actionscript

    Morning all,
    I am still quite new to flex development and I have an application which uses xml to populate a datagrid. One of the row columns should display a small image but I don't know how to do that.
    Can anyone show me how to add an image to a datagrid cell in actionscript?
    I've added a sample of the code I have written already below. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,

        var rows:XMLList = ds.elements('modules').elements('module') as XMLList;
        var columns:Array = new Array();
        for (var i:int=0; i<rows[0].elements().length(); i++) {
            var column:DataGridColumn = new DataGridColumn();
            var tag:String = rows.*[i].name();
            column.headerText = rows.*[i].name();
            column.dataField = rows.*[i].name();
            if (tag == 'icon') {
                var img:Image = new Image();
                img.id = "iconpath";
                img.width = 23;
                img.height = 20;
                img.source = rows.*[i].name();
               column.itemRenderer = img;   <-- this line shows as an error when I try to compile
            columns[i] = column;
        mydatagrid.columns = columns;
        mydatagrid.dataProvider = rows;

    you cant just set image object to itemrenderer, you need to use classfactory.

  • Help needed in designing dynamic images

    Hi,
    I just posted a thread before, but there is something wrong in that post.
    Any ways, I am new to Java and am trying to design a GUI which has images, which change dynamically. One of the examples is on this webpage
    http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.snapstream.com/images/blog/godzilla/overheating_max_cpu_tn.jpg&imgrefurl=http://blogs.snapstream.com/2006/01/18/godzilla-pvr/&h=516&w=683&sz=80&hl=en&start=3&tbnid=huDY6gDdtS_o-M:&tbnh=105&tbnw=139&prev=/images%3Fq%3DCPU%2Btemperature%26gbv%3D2%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG
    I need help desperately. I would appreciate, if you can help me. What do i need to use? Can it be done by using Swing? Are there any good examples of it on web? I am basically not clear, what do I need to use...
    waiting for your reply. thanks in advance.
    Ankit

    consider you have a JFrame called "frame"
    what you can do:
    JLabel lab = new JLabel("../firstPic.jpg");
    frame.getContentPane().add(lab);
    then, each time you will call "setIcon()" on the lab and refresh the frame it will display a new picture

  • Help needed with recovery m

    Hi all?I have a zen microphoto, it was having problems and went into recovery mode. When i plug it into my computer it is reconised. But when i try to reload the firmware, i'm gegging a message?that my zen is not connected. Does anyone have any ideas. ThanksLins

    Hi
    Forget the HDD recovery now
    You have recovered the system using another disk and this has deleted the HDD recovery image files. So this option is NOT possible!
    You are right the L300 and all other notebooks are not delivered with Recovery disks.
    The recovery disk has to be created using the preinstalled software called Recovery Disk Creator. But this is also NOT possible because you removed the preinstalled system and the files which are needed for such recovery disk are not available anymore!
    But if everything work properly except of the WLan FN + F8 key, then I would recommend to install only the Wlan driver. I think the key does not work because the right WLan driver is not installed.
    I think the Satellite L300-149 supports the Wlan Realtek RTL8187B chip.
    So install the right Wlan driver which you can find here:

  • Help needed playing a dvd on laptop

    I recently just bought the HP Pavilion dv5-1235dx laptop. It works like a dream, except for one thing. I can't seem to play dvds. It has windows vista home premium which comes with the Windows Media Center and dvd decoder, but whenever I insert a dvd and click on the mediasmart dvd player, it says "No disc in drive. Please insert a movie"
    I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem and if they were able to fix it, or if anyone has any idea of how to fix this.
    My dvd player just wont read dvds. And I've been trying to play commercial dvds-not ones that i created myself. I tried playing "forgetting sarah marshall". So its not something wrong with the dvd.
    Thanks.

    Id really like to help. However certain issues are beyond the scope of what I can do.
    You can check here:
    http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
    And follow the directions to see if theres any solutions to your problems.
    Otherwise I would try running a factory recovery and see if this clears things up.

  • Help - need vfat recovery

    I just did the dreaded thing - was going to copy from one usb vfat to another.
    I was going to do a 'mkdosfs -F32' on the target drive and did the source drive instead (I've not accessed it since then!!!).
    Any good linux tools out there?? (or my daughter's gonna kill me!!)
    Plueeeze help! I'm trying to google but so far has found only windows tools, I _need_ linux.

    Then you could try dd to make an image of the drive then mount it in a loop device and go from there.
    In my case no files where overwritten too, just a messed up partition table (extended partitions included) and the programs sorted it out.
    In your case most probably just adding a new partition of type vfat without creating the file system after that could work too but I would work on the image
    To make the image:
    sudo dd if=/dev/sdx of=/home/yourusername/thumbd.img
    where x is the letter of your "dead" thumbdrive.
    To mount it as a loop device:
    sudo losetup /dev/loop0 /home/yourusername/thumbd.img
    you may need to do this first before you can use the loop device:
    sudo modprobe loop
    then just use /dev/loop0 as you would use /dev/sdx

  • Help needed; underscore in rollover image name will not validate at WC3

    GoLive CS on an Intel PC
    UTF8 encoded, HTML 4.01 Transitional
    I have several rollovers in a page created by using the GoLive palletes, and because GoLive automatically adds an underscore to an image name in a nested folder the page cannot validate at the WC3 site. What do I need to do so that the underscore will not be added automatically? I've tried adding a name/ID to the image before creating the rollover, but it disregards the name and uses what it thinks is best, adding the underscore.
    The page is located here:
    http://www.redshift.com/~lorac/sdy-55.html
    I have attached three images that show the file names used and the results in the GoLive pallete. The first is a screenshot of the folder structure, the second is the placed image pallete and the third is the rollover pallete view.GoLive is set to strip all the GoLive code from the page before uploading, so the web version will not have any GL code.
    A sample WC3 comment is:
    Line 86, Column 226:         value of attribute "ID" invalid: "_" cannot start a name
    …pg');return true" href="#"><img id="_5502" class="img_border" src="images/jhj

    It is possible that you violated the naming convention for this attribute.       For example, id and name attributes must begin with       a letter, not a digit.
    Do I need to unnest any folders with potential rollover images? That would be a real pain... considering the amount sections and images used in the site.
    Thank you in advance for any help you can give.
    Carol

    I did as you suggested and added to the beginning of the default underscored name in the "name/ID" section and it was accepted. I changed all the rollover image names and uploaded the modified page, and was then able to validate at the WC3 validation site.
    Thank you so much! It was an easy fix... a solution I had overlooked. Oddly enough this never occurs with a remote rollover, but that is probably because GL lets you name the base image without suggesting a name first.

    Dear Expert
    My DVD driver cannot DVD. The DVD driver icon in "My Computer" does not show the name of the DVD and when clicked, shows "no DVD inserted".

    Thanks very much for your help and advice in advance,

    there is a possibility that the laser associated with the DVD reader is no longer functional, while your CD reader laser still is, as these two lasers are different.

  • Workflow help needed VCR to DVD and HDD via Canopus AVCD110

    I think that some of this subject has been addressed in previous posts. This is a new area for me and I am not sure that my configuration has been addressed previously so I am seeking help.
    I have already transfered some home movies from VCR to iMovie 09 using the Canopus. I have not edited any of it at this stage.
    Some of the tape is old and deteriorated. This shows on the IM09 clips as horizontal static across the frames. Someone suggested that I use a Video Enhancer (hardware costing around $100)between the VCR and the Canopus to lift quality. I have also found on the web a software solution (Video Converter) which claims to also enhance quality and de-noise. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations on either of these as a means of lifting the video quality?
    The next issue surrounds the use of MPEG Streamclip. I have gathered from other posts the necessity of using this program to convert the captured DV files to AIC to ensure the finished quality before editing and sending to Toast or iDVD. I am interested in any feedback on this process?
    Finally, I would like to be able to view the finished product on a WD TV Live and have another copy on DVD. Given that I have Toast 10 what is the best way of completing these tasks?
    I haven't taken the leap to a BluRay burner yet but I am thinking about it.I understand that it is better for archiving than DVD and the capacity would suit the quantity of video I have.
    Any and all feedback and recommendations on the (complete) workflow would be appreciated?

    I think that some of this subject has been addressed in previous posts. This is a new area for me and I am not sure that my configuration has been addressed previously so I am seeking help.
    I have already transfered some home movies from VCR to iMovie 09 using the Canopus. I have not edited any of it at this stage.
    Some of the tape is old and deteriorated. This shows on the IM09 clips as horizontal static across the frames.
