Help needed.. Changed HD, 'broken' DVD reader, working recovery disks.. how to?

Hello all, hope someone can help me here. I have a Toshiba Satellite p300-19f, win vista 32 in dotation.
Long story short, the computer has served me well for roughly 3 years now. All at a sudden, on startup when on windows charging page (with win logo and green counter going up), it started freezing.
I tried recovering last working win configuration, I tried recovering precedent backup points, at times I solved until the problem randomly showed up again (same identical problem), so ultimately I formatted and re-installed fresh vanilla version from recovery partition succesfully. Problem went away, until it came back. (all of this in 1 month time span)
It worked ok for a couple weeks, and started giving the same problem again. Ultimately I figured out (I immagine) that the hard drive must have some problems, as this freezing on windows startup (immediately distinguishable as the cpu stops working / the light in front stops twinkling) occured basically randomly, regardless of software installed in the pc, or time since last format.
I decided to change the hard drive, but obviously have the problem of the new operating system. My dvd burner is broken, or at least does not work reliably. I got an external sony burner and through the toshiba disk creator applet made the recovery disks (2 DVDs) successfully.
I changed the hard drive, tried to reboot and reistall using in laptop dvd, when it gets to copy the first big file it gives a CRC error, an aborts the whole thing (sending me to a prompt of commands though.. where I copied the whole content of the DVDs on the just made HDDrecovery folder in v: through the recognized usb external burner, but the computer failed to recognize on later startups).So I tried to boot it up with the recovery disks in the external burner (bios DOES support USB boot), the disks are read, the toshiba applet for recovery is started, and as soon as it gets to the dos-like windows it freezes on "check for medium in drive".
I have the recovery disks, I have a half working dvd reader in the pc that gives errors when copying the big files and aborts installation. I have an external dvd reader that is recognized at boot, starts the installation, but fails to find "the medium"...
I hope I have explained my problem more or less.. what can I do (apart from buying a new working dvd reader for the computer) ?
If there are specific info I need to give on hardware/software, please let me know.

You have to create the entire chart manually. follow the below steps. You can refer to the anychart website for more help on different tags and features.
1. Enter the following code in the html header of the page

The iPhone 4s is a multi carrier 'world' phone, it works on CDMA and GSM based networks.
Check out what system the carriers in Qatar operate on and check the technical specs of the iPhone 4s.
The chances are the iPhone 4s will work fine on their network.
You will need to make sure the carriers in Qatar offer Micro SIM cards to use in the iPhone 4s. If the carriers don't offer Micro SIM, you will not be able to use the iPhone 4s with a standard SIM (without a bit of SIM card surgery).

Need to order recovery disks, how can I tell if I need 32 or 64 bit without an OS?

I'm trying to repair someones laptop. It's a g60 and they dont have recovery disks. The hard drive has crashed so I can't use windows to find out if i need a 32 or 64 bit version. HP's website can't determine this by model number, serial or anything and is asking me what version i need when i try to order recovery disks. It tells me I should use windows to figure this out. (why would I need to order recovery disks, if windows was still working?????) Anyway. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Help needed - Excel macro error after Reader 11 update.

I wrote the following section of an Excel 2010 macro to open a selected pdf file with Adobe Reader, then copy all text to the clipboard & then return to Excel to paste &
process the data. The macro works with Adobe Reader 10. After I updated to Adobe Reader 11, Reader 11 will open but I get an error message of file not found. I've gone back &
forth between Reader 10 & 11 from clean installs & the problem stays with 11. The only thing I changed in the macro is the path for where Abobe Reader is located. The only
Adobe Reader preferences I change from the clean install setup is I set the Default View to Single Page continuous. Any help would be appreciated.

I do not see any reason for this to not work.
Is there any difference between the preferences for RX and RXI. Please go to "edit" -> "Preferences" -> "Security(Enhanced)" and uncheck "Enable protected mode at startup".
Are you able to open any pdf from command line with the same command:

Help Needed With "Extend Marker" Function Not Working

I have several Clips and used the "DV Start/Stop Detect" function to find the time code breaks, which seems to work well. I've now got a clip full of Segment markers.
The problem arises when I try to use Extent Markers "Option + `" to make subclips. When I put the play head on a subsequent marker, the Marker/Extend function is grayed out.
Extending a marker that I have created using the M key works perfectly.
Why can I not use the Extend function on Segment Markers?
Any help on this is greatly appreciated. I have 30 odd clips that I need to set up segments for, and doing it manually will add hours to my workload.

I am completely aware of items 1 through 3, and never Extend markers in the Timeline. Only the Viewer.
To perform an Extend Marker and avoid headaches, load the captured clip - the one with the video icon in the Browser - into the Viewer. Then, as you scrub along in the Viewer, Option-` as needed.
That is precisely what I am doing.
To Extend the marker I first double click the clip to load the entire clip into the Viewer, where all the Section markers are displayed. I then check Mark>Markers>Extend and the function is grayed out. However, if I move the playhead one frame prior to the Section marker, the previous Section marker extends to the frame prior to the new play head position.
If I do this with manually entered markers (using the M key, creating Marker 1, 2, 3.... in sequence on the Viewer timeline), then the Previous marker is extended to the frame immediately prior the the current play head position - i.e. from Marker 1 to Marker 2. I do not have to move off the Marker 2 position to be able to extend Marker 1.
Also, simply selecting all your Markers and either dragging them to another bin (or pressing Command-U) does not produce the needed subclips?
Of this I am also aware. I find the Command-U process just confuses the issue, creating more clips to manage (others may disagree). I prefer to simply drag the "Subclips" directly from the Main clip into a Timeline.
Because you're doing all this to get subclips, right? Or wrong?
If I understand your reply correctly, I think you misunderstood my problem. I have been using subclips for several years, and find them VERY useful, especially with multi-camera shoots. So, I am quite familiar with creating and extending markers.
I just started experimenting with the Detect feature and find it works quit well (most of the time). My problem is that the Segment markers created by the Detect process, do not perform the same as manually place markers, as far as the Extend marker function is concerned, anyway.
BTW - By using the TC display in my Panasonic PV-GS400 Camera, and sending the FCP video via Firewire to the camera, the camera displays the TC on the captured clip, which I then rename the marker to for TC reference. As long as the Date/Time on the cameras are properly synced, syncing clips in the Timeline is a breeze!!
Anyway, to clarify, my process is as follows:
1. Capture a clip.
2. Display the clip in the Viewer
3. Select "DV Start/Stop Detect" and watch as the section markers appear in the Viewer.
4. In Viewer, place play head on the first Section marker
5. Press the M key to Edit Marker.
6. Change the Name of the marker to the timecode of the Marker now displayed in the Camcorder window.
7. Use Shift-Down Arrow to move to the next Section Marker
8. Press Option+` to Extend the previous marker - which does not work and is grayed out in the Mark>Markers>Extend menu.
9. Back to step 5.
This process works perfectly with manually created markers. Because the Extend works if I move the play head one frame prior to the current Section marker, this tells me there is something "special" about the Section marker that disables the Extend function, unlike a manually created marker.
BTW - If I delete the Section marker, and create a manual marker at the same frame, the Extend marker function works again. Again, indicating that Section markers are different somehow from manual Markers.
Hopefully, this wordy explanation of my process clarifies my problem.
Aside: The clips are supplied to me by a customer on a 500GB FW800 drive. FCP5 was used to capture the clips from the original Tapes (which I do not have access to). I am the editor for the project.

URGENT HELP NEEDED! ALL CDs & DVDs ARE CONTIUOUSLY EJECTED

Hello Everyone!
Our little four year old Titanium PowerBook G4 has just started to reject all manner of CDs and DVDs. It does not matter whether the disc is blank, home burnt or a commercial CD or DVD. Every disc that is inserted into the SuperDrive is automatically ejected after a couple of "whirrs".
Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated as this machine is used for a small dance studio and burning CDs for performances and competitions is a way of life for this PowerBook.

Hi, Rodger. It sounds as though your drive has been heavily used. It might just be dirty, in which case a drive cleaning kit purchased from a computer or video store might help. Or the drive may have given up the ghost, in which case it can be replaced with a new unit for anywhere from about $70 to $250, depending on what you buy, where you buy it, and whether you do the work yourself or have a technician do it. But try a cleaning kit first.
If you've recently performed an Apple software update or installed some new CD or DVD-related third party software, and the drive stopped working immediately afterward, then it's possible that the software you installed is responsible, or that you have a permissions problem as a result of the installation. Open Disk Utility (Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility) and run its Repair Permissions function, then test the drive again. If that doesn't do the trick, reset the PRAM and test again. If you still have no joy, it may be time to think about replacing the drive.

Help needed w/ JDeveloper and Raptor not working for me in 10.4

Well, I've been successfully running the previous version of JDeveloper, 10.1.2.0.0 (Build 1811) for a few months on my OS X, Tiger (10.4) laptop. I recently tried to get Project Raptor running. I'm using Apple's version of Java from Software Update, J2SE 5.0 Release 3 which is the most up-to-date version I can find anywhere.
My problem is this. I can do most anything fine, but as soon as I try to Debug an PL/SQL function in either Raptor, or the JDeveloper 10.1.3 build I get an error "Unsupported feature Vendor Code 17023" when I click OK in the Debug PL/SQL dialog box.
Thing is that this works just fine in JDeveloper 10.1.2.0.0 (Build 1811). The thing that is interesting is the 10.1.2 JDeveloper uses the Java 1.4.2 where Raptor and JDeveoper 10.1.3 use the Java 1.5, I'm guessing it's a problem in Apple's Java 1.5 but can anyone else verify this or offer help to how I can make it work?

I recently purchased my first Mac, a G5 PowerPC. I have connected it to my home network (3 windows PC's and my G5) by way of a LAN router and everything works fine except getting my printer to function correctly.
I have an Epson DX4850 which works fine when connected directly to my G5 via USB but I cannot get it to work properly when connected to one of the Windows's PC's, its prefered location.
I have done the following;
Opened the Printer Setup Utility and clicked "Add"
In the Printer Browser I selected "More Printers"
In the 2 drop down menu's I selected "Windows Printing" and "Network Neighborhood"
Then selected the name of my home network, then the name of the computer the printer is connected to then the actual printer.
The problem seems to be that the Printer Model is listed as "Generic". When I try direct it toward my specific printer all I can find are GIMP drivers under Epson. If I select "Other" in order to navigate to my specific printer driver I seem to have trouble locating it.
Any help would be appreciated

I suspect that I know why. Several printer vendors, including Epson & HP, have for reasons which make sense to them elected to NOT properly support the CUPS print system which OS X uses and has used since 10.2. Those who support CUPS properly deliver drivers which will work with any connection, including being shared across a network. Those who don't, well...
In the particular case of Epson, they're trying to push this thing: <http://www.buyepson.co.uk/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?PID=C12C824025>.
Actually, it does make more sense to use a device which puts the printer directly on the network than to share it from a computer. However, it seems... unlikely that anyone with sense will actually buy a 160GBP thingie to attach to a 100GBP MFD... Buying a second MFD would appear to make more sense.

There should be a specific GIMP driver for it. I think. I'm not sure, as the DX4850 isn't sold in the US, and many/most of the GIMP drivers for Epsons are written in the US. Which means that there may not be a driver specifically for that device, because the guys who'd write the driver for it haven't been able to get their hands on a machine to work with. If you can find out which print engine is at the heart of the MFD (the Stylus C86 or C88 engine is a possibility, but I don't know, I've never actually touched a DX4850) you can use the driver for that printer and it'll work just fine. At least, my old CX5400 used to work using the C84 GIMP driver.

This is because Epson's own drivers don't do sharing. This is a Feature, according to Epson. That way it doesn't interfere with their external, expensive, USB-to-ethernet print thingie. The GIMP drivers do do sharing.

There isn't one from Epson. (Unless you have 160 pounds you're not doing anything with...) There may be a GIMP driver which will work.

Actionscript help needed with getting Next Page to work

I just have a simple question (hopefully).
Question is:
I have a web page that displays a flash file that zooms and
pans, but I cant get the Next Page link to display. (will also want
1st, last and previous page)
1. Can the next page work and load the next or previous
numbered file?
2. Does it have to have all pages in one file, then it calls
the next frame?
Snippet below, or I can e-mail example files.

Use the same method you are currently using. The Zoom and Pan
methods just happen to be exposed to the ActiveX control and
Plug-in. So to use the the GotoFrame() method for example, just
change your code from:
function next() {

flash.nextpage();
To this:
function next() {
var flash = window.movie || document.movie; // Get Flash
object.
flash.GotoFrame(20); // This will jump to frame 19 of your
main timeline.
It goes to frame 19 because the method you are using is
zero-based. Meaning to get to the first frame of your movie you
would pass the number zero.
To use the TCallLabel() method it would look like this:
function next() {

// to target the main timeline, use
flash.TCallLabel("/", "labelName");
// to target a movieclip on the main timeline use:

Also, just so you know. These methods are getting antiquated.
To keep up with the current versions and methods of communicating
between JS and Flash you should really look into the
ExternalInterface class in Flash 8.

I recently switched from BB Curve 8520 to BB Pearl 9100. I'm having trouble getting my official e mails configured to new handset. I have changed my BB id password online but when the same is fed into the handset it rejects. I have used 7 attempts already.. Pearl 9100 was used by my husband earlier and had his id configured which i have erased.
Can some one help ?
