Help needed exporting PDF! urgent!

Hello, I`ve been working on a catalog for the past 2 months, and now its done. But when I export it to PDF only one side(right) has pages numbered and head and foot info. What am I donig here? When the documet is still in indesign everything is normal and there. I has to be someking of master problem, but all the masters applied to pages look fine. Please help, as the thing is supposed to go into print today.

Do you have pages with different master pages throughout the document, for example does your pages panel look like this
|A
A|A
A|B
B|B
B|B
B|C
C|C
C|D
Where A master page is paired with B, starting a new section, B is paired with C (starting section) etc.
If you do, make sure that no object crosses the Spine even by .00001 mm, as this causes the Left Master items to disappear when A meets B and C meets D.
that make sense?

  • Need help. Exporting pdf to Word or cretaing live fields in doc

I need to take a 180pg doc and save it as a word doc or manage to turn all the necessary areas into live fields. I've tried going to export > word document or File > export to anything really and I keep getting this error message
Adobe was unabl;e to make this document accessible becuase of the following error:
Bad PDF; could not read page structure. Bad PDF; error in processing fonts cannot find CMap resource file> [3]
I received this document form a client overseas. I can't get them to resend another copy.
Anyway's I can get around this error? I'm desperate I have 9 other docs with the same amount of page to make live

Sounds that you want to make the PDF files live and then edit them in Word? Why not directly edit them in Adobe Acrobat? It can help directly edit PDF, the conversion is unnecessary. And if you really want to export PDF to Word but the acrobat can help you little, you would try free PDF to Word Converter, which may help you for the conversion. However, I am not sure you would do that work well. Because I am a little confused about the problem you described. Just have a try and it may helps.

  • Need help with export PDF options

I want to go into edit job options and set everything for the highest possible quality exported PDF. Can someone please tell me how to
set these options for the highest quality?  Many thanks.

Sorry I was so uninformative. I am using Pagemaker 7.0.
OS is Windows 7 Home Premium.
I have tried to edit the job options and I have saved my new settings - but I can't seem to
get a high quality PDF exported. I know that my file is good, because I have previously gotten
a high quality PDF exported from my older windows machine running XP pro.

  • Help with Export PDF to Word doc

I subscribed to export PDF. I am signed in. I click on convert to Word doc and it looks like Adobe is doing something. Then I click on view converted files and it keeps taking me to the subscribe page!! I feel like Adobe has just stolen $23 from me!!!!!!

    Hi dou,
I just checked your account, and it looks like you should be good-to-go. If you're still receiving a message about subscribing, it's likely that you just need to sign in to the service.  From the ExportPDF website, click Sign in at the upper-right corner, and log in to the service with your Adobe ID credentials. Now, when you click ExportPDF, you'll be prompted to select PDF files to export, instead of being asked to subscribe.
    Best,
    Sara

In the future, simply use a free service such as Google Voice or YouMail for the voicemail on your cellular device. You can access your voicemail via the web with these services without the need for an international phone call.
Edit: Unfortunately, this won't work for any voicemails you would have already received prior to setting up the service.

  • HELP!  Exporting pdf issues - no email links and gray boxes around text

I'm a newbie to indesign, and trying to learn the program as I go.  I need to export my pdf for onscreen viewing.  When I "print" it works, but I get no email links, and those annoying white lines here and there.  I read that exporting would solve the email link issue, but it opened another can of worms for my project.  Now all my graphics have black or gray boxes across them, almost like censor boxes.  But my email links work.
Learning Adobe is like learning a new language, and I have far from mastered it.  So when I exported, I used the lowest resolution presets, assuming it knew what worked better than I did.  After dozens of unsuccessful exports, can someone please help??
Also, I've been reading posts that say to convert all spots to color to resolve the white line issue.  But it's grayed out in the ink manager.  What is the secret to unlock it?
    Thank you!!

Thank you for any and all help!
I have CS5.5, running on windows 7.  It is up to date as of 1 month ago.  Here's a sample of my problem pages.  Also, a screen shot of what it should look like.  My guess is it has something to do with the transparencies, since it's 2+ layers of embossed objects.  If I export in Acrobat 4 (1.3) these boxes don't happen. But then I get the thin white lines across my graphics, and no email links.  As for spot colors, I confess complete ignorance on all color issues,  but  I'm trying to learn as I go.  How can I export this correctly?

can any help me urgent .plz

    hi
    chk this out
SELECTION-SCREEN: Special Variant for Logical Databases
You may only use these variants in the INCLUDE program DBldbSEL of logical database ldb.
    Variants:
1.SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF VERSION vers TEXT-xxx.
    2. SELECTION-SCREEN END OF VERSION vers.
    3. SELECTION-SCREEN EXCLUDE ... .
4.SELECTION-SCREEN DYNAMIC SELECTIONS FOR TABLE dbtab.
5.SELECTION-SCREEN FIELD SELECTION FOR TABLE dbtab.
6.SELECTION-SCREEN DYNAMIC SELECTIONS FOR NODE node.
7.SELECTION-SCREEN FIELD SELECTION FOR NODE node.
    Variant 1
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF VERSION vers TEXT-xxx.
    Variant 2
    SELECTION-SCREEN END OF VERSION vers.
    Variant 3
    SELECTION-SCREEN EXCLUDE ... .
    Effect
Defines a selection screen version (three character name vers). Between BEGIN OF VERSION and END OF VERSION , you can exclude selection screen objects from version vers using SELECTION-SCREEN EXCLUDE. This allows you to reduce the database-specific part of the standard selection screen to those objects relevant to the report in question without having to sacrifice important selection criteria in other reports.
You activate a selection screen version for a report by entering it in the report attributes. If the database access program SAPDBldb itself has a selection screen version in its attributes, this applies to all reports that use the logical database and for which you have not declared a particular selection screen variant.
The function of the text symbol TEXT-xxx is to enable users to choose a selection screen variant using F4 help on the program attributes screen.
    Extras:
    (for SELECTION-SCREEN EXCLUDE) 1. ... PARAMETERS par 2. ... SELECT-OPTIONS sel
    3. ... RADIOBUTTON GROUPS radi
    4. ... BLOCKS block
    5. ... IDS id
    Effect
Excludes selection screen objects between SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN and END OF VERSION. You can also exclude individual parameters, select-options, and radiobutton groups, within SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN/END OF BLOCK blocks, and other SELECTION-SCREEN objects such as comments and underlines using the ID id addition.
    Notes
You can only exclude objects of the DS:ABEN.SELECTION_SCREEN>standard selection screen 1000, not any that belong to a screen defined using SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF SCREEN ... AS SUBSCREEN. If the standard selection screen includes objects from other screens ( SELECTION-SCREEN INCLUDE ... ID ...), you can use SELECTOIN-SCREEN EXCLUDE IDS ... to exclude them from the screen.
The database program SAPDBldb can use the function module RS_SELSCREEN_VERSION to use the active version of the selection screen for the current report.
    Example
    TABLES SPFLI.
NODES CHARLY.                  " with structure SFLIGHT
PARAMETERS PAR_1 LIKE SPFLI-CARRID FOR TABLE SPFLI.
    SELECT-OPTIONS SEL_1 FOR SPFLI-CONNID.
    SELECT-OPTIONS SEL_2 FOR CHARLY-FLDATE.
    SELECT-OPTIONS SEL_3 FOR SPFLI-CITYFROM.
    SELECTION-SCREEN COMMENT /10(20) TEXT-100 FOR TABLE SFLIGHT ID 001.
    SELECTION-SCREEN COMMENT /8(30) TEXT-200 FOR NODE CHARLY ID 002.
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF SCREEN 100 AS SUBSCREEN NO INTERVALS.
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF BLOCK B100 WITH FRAME TITLE TEXT_001.
PARAMETERS P100_1 TYPE SFLIGHT-SEATSMAX FOR NODE CHARLY.
      SELECTION-SCREEN END OF BLOCK B100.
    SELECTION-SCREEN END OF SCREEN 100.
PARAMETERS PAR_2 LIKE SY-SUBRC FOR TABLE SFLIGHT.
PARAMETERS PAR_3 LIKE CHARLY-PLANETYPE FOR NODE CHARLY.
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF VERSION ABC TEXT-008.
      SELECTION-SCREEN EXCLUDE PARAMETERS: PAR_1, PAR_3.
      SELECTION-SCREEN EXCLUDE SELECT-OPTIONS SEL_2.
      SELECTION-SCREEN EXCLUDE IDS 001.
    SELECTION-SCREEN END   OF VERSION ABC.
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF VERSION XYZ TEXT-XYZ.
      SELECTION-SCREEN EXCLUDE IDS 100.
    SELECTION-SCREEN END OF VERSION XYZ.
If the report attributes (or the attributes of database program SAPDBldb) contain the selection screen version ABC, the parameters PAR_1 and PAR_3, the select-option SEL_2 and the comment with text number 100 (ID 001) do not appear on the selection screen. Text symbol 008 of SAPDBldb is displayed if you choose F4 help for the 'Selection screen version' field.
If the program attributes (or the attributes of the database program SAPDBldb) contain the selection screen version XYZ, the block B100 containing the parameter P100_1 does not appear on the standard selection screen 1000, but it does appear on the subscreen 100..
    Variant 4
SELECTION-SCREEN DYNAMIC SELECTIONS FOR TABLE dbtab.
    Variant 6
    SELECTION-SCREEN DYNAMIC SELECTIONS FOR NODE
    node.
    Extras:
    ... ID id
    Effect
This statement returns the tables or nodes of the logical database for which additional selections are supported. If one of these tables or nodes is active in the report (declared using TABLES or NODES, or in the path from the database hierarchy root to a table declared using TABLES or NODES), the 'Free selections' pushbutton appears on the selection screen. If the user chooses this function, the system branches to a dialog in which the user can enter selections for the relevant fields of the appropriate tables. There are two ways to set the fields for which users can make free selections:
Using a selection view created for that purpose:
You maintain selection views within logical database maintenance. They consist of a set of fields from tables in the logical database that are divided into groups. You can also preselect fields here. Customers may overlay the selection view (that is, the system searches first for a customer-specific selection view. Only if one does not exist will the system display the SAP selection view).
If you have already made a preselection in the selection view, the user sees the selection screen for the preselected fields on which to enter his or her selections. If no fields have been preselected, the user must first select some.
Using all fields of all tables
In this case, the user must choose the table and then the fields for which he or she wants to define additional selections. Having selected these, he or she then passes to the selection screen for entering the free selections.
The database access program SAPDBldb takes on the form of a complex data object DYN_SEL consisting of WHERE clauses generated by the user input for dynamic database access.
    Note
You cannot use free selections for nodes with type C (complex data objects).
    Note
The precise definition of the object DYN_SEL is stored in TYPE-POOL RSDS and reads:
    TYPES: BEGIN OF RSDS_WHERE,
             TABLENAME LIKE RSDSTABS-PRIM_TAB,
             WHERE_TAB LIKE RSDSWHERE OCCURS 5,
           END OF RSDS_WHERE.
    TYPES: BEGIN OF RSDS_TYPE,
             CLAUSES TYPE RSDS_WHERE OCCURS 5,
             TEXPR   TYPE RSDS_TEXPR,
             TRANGE  TYPE RSDS_TRANGE,
           END   OF RSDS_TYPE.
    DATA DYN_SEL TYPE RSDS_TYPE.
The object DYN_SEL contains (amongst other elements) a component (CLAUSES), which is an internal table. Each line in the internal table contains a table name (TABLENAME) and a further internal table (WHERE_TAB), that contains the WHERE clauses for table (TABLENAME).
The structure of the two other components is contained in type pool RSDS.
TEXPR contains the selections in a storeable format that you can use for the 'freely callable' function modules used to enter free selections ( FREE_SELECTIONS_INIT, FREE_SELECTIONS_DIALOG). TRANGE contains the selections in the form of RANGES tables , that you can use with the IN operator in the SELECT, CHECK and IF statements.
    Note
Neither the TYPE-POOL RSDS nor the declaration of DYN_SEL need to be written into the database program: both are automatically included by the system.
In the database program SAPDBldb, an access to a table XXXX might look like this:
    FORM PUT_XXXX.
      DATA L_DS_CLAUSES TYPE RSDS_WHERE.
      MOVE 'XXXX' TO L_DS_CLAUSES-TABLENAME.
READ TABLE DYN_SEL-CLAUSES WITH KEY L_DS_CLAUSES-TABLENAME
                                 INTO L_DS_CLAUSES.
      SELECT * FROM XXXX
               WHERE field1 IN ...
               AND   field2 ....
               AND (L_DS_CLAUSES-WHERE_TAB).
          PUT XXXX.
      ENDSELECT.
    ENDFORM.
    Note
If the table L_DS_CLAUSES-WHERE_TAB is empty (in other words, there are no free selections for table XXXX), the system ignores the addition ... AND (L_DS_CLAUSES-WHERE_TAB) in the SELECT statement.
    Variant 5
SELECTION-SCREEN FIELD SELECTION FOR TABLE dbtab.
    Variant 7
SELECTION-SCREEN FIELD SELECTION FOR NODE node.
    Extras:
    ... ID id
    Effect
This statement returns the tables and nodes of the logical database for which field selections are supported.
If required by the report, not all fields of these tables and nodes are filled from the database, but only those that the report needs. You declare these fields in the report using GET dbtab FIELDS f1 ... fn or GET dbtab LATE FIELDS f1 ... fn (the field list is then completed by the system, using the key fields of table dbtab).
You can improve performance considerably by restricting the fields used to those that are really necessary.
The database access program SAPDBldb receives the fields for the dynamic field selection in the form of an internal table SELECT_FIELDS.
    Note
You cannot use this addition for nodes with type C (complex data objects).
    Note
The exact definition of the object SELECT_FIELDS is stored in TYPE-POOL RSFS and reads:
    TYPES: BEGIN OF RSFS_TAB_FIELDS,
             TABLENAME LIKE RSDSTABS-PRIM_TAB,
             FIELDS LIKE RSFS_STRUC OCCURS 10,
           END OF RSFS_TAB_FIELDS.
    TYPES: RSFS_FIELDS TYPE RSFS_TAB_FIELDS OCCURS 10.
    DATA SELECT_FIELDS TYPE RSFS_FIELDS.
SELECT_FIELDS is an internal table. Each line of the internal table contains a table name (TABLENAME) and a further internal table (FIELDS) containing the fields of table (TABLENAME).
    Note
You do not need to declare the TYPE-POOL RSFS or SELECT_FIELDS in the database program, since both are included automatically by the system. Unlike the objects linked using the DYNAMIC SELECTIONS addition, SELECT_FIELDS is also available in the report.
In the database program SAPDBldb, an access to table XXXX might look like this:
    FORM PUT_XXXX.
      DATA L_TAB_FIELDS TYPE RSFS_TAB_FIELDS.
      MOVE 'XXXX' TO L_TAB_FIELDS-TABLENAME.
READ TABLE SELECT_FIELDS WITH KEY L_TAB_FIELDS-TABLENAME
                               INTO L_TAB_FIELDS.
      SELECT (L_TAB_FIELDS-FIELDS)
                 INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF XXXX
                 FROM XXXX
             WHERE field1 IN ...
             AND   field2 ....
          PUT XXXX.
      ENDSELECT.
    ENDFORM.
    Notes
If table L_TAB_FIELDS is empty (in other words, the report for table XXXX does not require any field selection), SELECT (L_TAB_FIELDS) ... behaves like SELECT * ..., that is, all fields of table XXXX are filled.
The internal table SELECT_FIELDS is filled when the INIT routine runs in the database program or when the INITIALIZATION runs in the report. The program can access it if the logical database requires extra fields.

  • Basic Help Needed - Exporting

    Hi everyone!
I am currently drawing a 1600X900 interface for a touchscreen system. I am using illustrator to make the buttons, but I have an issue. The touchscreen program will only upload buttons as an image (anything besides .png simply looks awful), so I need to export JUST certain images of certain buttons in illustrator. My question...
Is there a way to export a certain selection/object/layer in illustrator? I am currently running CS4. I know I can copy and paste each object onto a new print and export - but when the .png is uploaded it has a border (even if its translucent). Again, there are buttons so I need the full image and nothing else.
    Also, for a more complicated question;
When I began the illustrator document, I chose 1600x900 pixels in hope that the buttons would appear smooth on the touchscreen program. Should I perhaps lower the pixels since the actual buttons may only take up a tiny fraction of the whole 1600x900 screen? I've never really imported my work into 3rd party programs - this is new to me.
    Thanks so much!

Loading a plug-in, then exporting to layers...if there's a more simple solution, I'd certainly love to hear it.
Don't fear the plug-ins, they're here to help.
Once you load the plug-in, there will be a new menu item for you in Illustrator.  At that point, simply clicking the "Export Layers to .png" option exports all visible layers to the .pngs you want, perfectly sized 1:1 with your art, perfectly cropped, named to the name of your layers and ready to go.

  • Help needed about PDF - java

    Hi everybody,
I just need to know if it's possible (and has been done already :) ) to take a pdf file and, using java, extract all the text boxes of it so that I can then be able to position them in a java application layout (using Swing).
I need to do that to extract all the information of the text:
    - size of the page
    - position of the text box
    - size of the text
    - font
    - color
    - other attributes
That's a subject that has already been discussed a lot, but I couldn't find a clear answer to that question in the forum.
I really need your help, because I already spent a lot of time searching for that, and now I start wondering if it's really possible...
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.
    Myriam.

    Hi Carlosbenfeito!
Thanks a lot for your answer!
I don't know if the pdf document is a pdf form... The only thing I know is that the pdf file I will have to extract the data from will be generated from a Quark document...
I will try to find out more.
In the same time, do you know where exactly I can find this Adobe jar? I had a look on their website, but I didn't find it...
    Thanks for your help.

  • Help needed. PDF files won't open in IE8.

    Hello guyz!
I opened a PDF file in IE8 using Adobe Reader, but it won't open. It's a 14 MB file which I got from a blog. It just stops the downloading at KB and shows an error screen. I forgot what the error screens look like. Please help me fix this problem!
Also, when I try to open the PDF file in Firefox 3 it works. But I like it in IE8.
Any posts, comments, and answers will be appreciated. Thanks!

I think that there where some issues with adobe CS3 playing nice with leopard, though I dont know if any where specific to Acrobat. I would try to control click on the PDF and downloading it, then open preview and use its file open option to see if it will open the PDF that way.

  • Help needed with PDF/X -3 settings in ColorSync Utility

Hi, I'm attempting to create a PDF/X-3 document from iWork Pages with full bleed.
Can someone explain the four fields for Trimbox and Bleedbox? For instance, what units are they in? Does the fact that my unit preferences in Pages is centimetres affect them? And what does each field relate to on the document?
So far I've found out I need to add 3mm to our A4 page, but I haven't spoken to the proper IT person at our printer yet.
Oh yeah, and when I open up the PDF/X-3 document in Preview should I be able to see the Bleedbox or bleed lines? Or are these just invisible settings for the printer's computer to use?

    I take it that's a no then?
Sorry, a bit busy this end.
To be precise, the implemention does not do what the interface for the implementation implies. What the implementation does is what ColorSync itself does, and does correctly. Tagged objects are honoured, that is, the source ICC profiles are preserved. Untagged objects are tagged, that is, the Generic RGB Profile is assigned to objects in data space RGB, the Generic CMYK Profile is assigned to objects in data space CMYK, and the Generic Gray Profile is assigned to objects in data space Gray. And the reference / simulation / OutputIntent of your choice is embedded, whether it be type PRTR Printer or type MNTR Monitor since as per the technical specification both are permitted.
You cannot change the fallback transform. There is a specific reason for this which was stated by John Zimmerer as Color and Imaging Product Manager following the discussion of the Generic CMYK Profile. John pointed out that the operating system has to have a fallback, but that if the fallback can be customised then it can corrupt the operating system. Technically, this is correct. Suppose I tell you to install an ICC transform with which I intend to invert or zero the colour contrasts and colour cues in your system interface.
You can't change the Generic XXX Profile. These are autoinstalled by the system, and if you try to delete them, the system installs them again ... and again ... and again. This was not the behaviour in the early ColorSync releases. If you go far enough back, you will find that the system did not necessarily have a fallback for CIELa*b D50 2 degree standard observer, now Generic LAB Profile. In other words, the system has to have a source fallback for each data space, including CIALab and CIEXYZ.
Note in passing that the problem of a fallback transform also applies to incoming character data. My porous memory has let slip whether the cut is 10.4 or 10.5, but the principle is that you cannot change the system fallback for character-glyph mapping. The prepress people were in an uproar as they wanted their beloved Adobe Type 1 font program dictionaries as system fallbacks for imaging of incoming character data, but again Adobe Type 1 font program dictionaries are malign more often than not and malign character-glyph transforms could chaotify the system interface strings.
As far as I can make out, the implementation of the PDF/X-3 functionality sets MediaBox = CropBox = BleedBox = TrimBox. This has been the case since PDF/X-3 functionality was introduced into the operating system. Is this right or wrong? Well, it's wrong to have an interface if the interface does not do what it says to do. But beyond that, and from my point of view, if people want to set these parameters, then they need to talk to the person who operates the imposition system, or better still the person who operates the press and the person who operates the imposition system need to have a file format that lets them communicate with the person designing the page. So the way to do this is to support as well the ICC file format for prepress colour-colourant conversion and a postpress processing format for cutting, folding and so forth. I've not followed automation for postpress processing closely, but my sense of it is that there are not as many printers who would know what to do with postpress parameters as there now are who have some sense of what to do with a colour managed printing master.
There are prepress people who are looking for more and more device dependence in printing masters. Peter Breis wants support for spot colour, but he does not consider the consequences. Peter Kleinheider and Bernz Zipper had an article in CreativePro that said the problem with OS X was that there was no support for overprint, OPI links, or transfer curves in PostScript programming. For the record, Peter and Bernd are wrong. Transfer curves don't belong in PDF printing masters, because they change the calibration of the RIP relative to the calibration characterised in the ICC profile for the printing condition, which is harakiri. And OPI brings in EPS DCS that cannot be properly colour managed in proofing, for instance.
One can argue back and forth about type, should the system make the supposition that type is to be imaged on one and only one class of device: a separations device that has a separate colourant unit half a meter apart for each process plane? In this case, type should be set to image on the K plane only. As it is, type is set to image on the four process planes, so 10 point Garamond prints in four inking units on an offset lithographic printing press instead of on one inking unit. Paradoxically, when GX was reviewed by Jonathan Seybold in May 1992, he complained that the imaging model did not support more than one colourant for type. Users of Apple Pages are colouring type like crazy and are completely clueless about the consequences for a separations device, as I suspect from time to time was Jonathan Seybold -:).
It is significantly simpler to understand PDF in OS X by comparing with PDD in GX. In both strategies, the idea is to image in a view port model instead of in a program-interpreter model since the latter has long been proven inherently unreliable. In both strategies, the idea is to use page description model in the view port model as spool file format internally, presently replacing PDF with PS as internal spool file format. And in both strategies, the idea is to limit device dependent parameters in the spool file format as much as possible. The problem with device dependent parameters is that an awful lot of prior agreement, more or less private, has to take place which militates against blind exchange of portable documents.
There is non-sense implementation and there is non-sense opinion on non-sense implementation. Which is the more non-sensical I wouldn't know. There are plenty of people burning my effigy already, so a few more won't make much of a difference.
