HELP needed ! GT735 Recovery failed :(

Hello to all
My son has bought a gt735 (great machine !) last month, he has burned the two recovery dvds as suggested.
Despite, yesterday, he tried to recover the machine to its original settings (vista) because of some applications instabilities (no virus or so, he's protected.. as far as possible...)
I've tried all night long to make it work  if i choose option 1 or 2 (all disks, c drive only) it takes an hour or so to tell that the recovery has failed after insertion of dvd 1, never asks the second one.
If i try to reboot, the 'bootmgr is missing' message appears... I'm stuck... What is your suggestion ?
Any idea will be greatly appreciated  Of course, i can install from a vista dvd of my own, but is it the best solution ?
Have a nice day, people

Thanks for the reply, Svet
Of course, i'll do, the idea was just that I'll probably  have to find out all the drivers... but well, not so hard, it seems
My idea was of course to rebuild a machine as it was on delivery, but if there is no other way...

  • URGENT HELP NEEDED (Bios Settings Failed)

    Hey Guys,
    I am having problems with my MSI Board, and don't know what to do.  I am very much a noob to BIOS/and modding so I apologize in advance.  You guys helped me a few months ago getting everything up and running and all was great for months.  Then last night I walked away from my PC for a while and when i came back a starting screen was on saying my OC Settings Failed to load, i tried other versions I saved and they all failed as well.  I ended up loading failsafe options, and got the "double start" where the computer turns on, then instantly shuts off, then turns on again.  This allowed me to load windows 7, which then started to "install updates".   So i think while i was away Windows automatically updated and rebooted... but would that effect my BIOS settings?
    As I said, I had my system running perfect for months no errors or crashes at all based on the Bios setting you guys help me with in this thread:  https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=147854.0
    However, last week I removed the heat sink and installed this cooler:  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181010&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Water+Cooling-_-Corsair-_-35181010
    All I did was unhook everything from the MB, install the cooler, and then hook everything back up to the MB.  The only thing I may have done wrong is not connect the SATA devices (my HDs and ROMS) back in the spots they were in originally.  However after I installed the cooler, they system booted right up, and I haven’t had any problems with my system for the past two weeks.  I also should note I didnt make any BIOS changes either after I installed the cooler.  So I don’t know if I should have done something there.   Yet, like I said the system has been fine for the past two weeks, no crashes or errors... it wasn’t until last night after Windows auto updated that this has begun.
    The reason I need "URGENT HELP" is because of course I just a new job with deadlines due and so much video editing work I need to do.  I would be fine leaving it on failsafe settings, and forgetting the OC setting all together if I new that would make the system stable.  But considering its still doing the "double start" even in failsafe mode, im afraid if i start working my system will crash.
    So I am begging anybody for any advice or help they could provide.  I will provide my system info below.  If anybody can guide me as to what settings I should set in BIOS i would appreciate it.  Or perhaps there’s a BIOS update that I should use now that I have a cooler and not a heat sink?  If you need any more information from me, just ask.  I will be monitoring this thread all day, as I desperately need help.

    PROBLEM:  My OC BIOS setting wont load.  Even on failsafe i get the "double start".  I want to get back to my OC (stable) settings.
    UPDATE:  Since I posted somebody messaged me mentioned I should have "reset the CMOS" after I installed the new cooler.  So I did that, and now they system starts fine without the "double start".  I am able to load one of my saved OC settings now as well (but any others causes a failure).
    NEW QUESTIONS:
          1.  Since I reset the CMOS and now the system is starting fine on my last OC settings, is it safe to assume the sytem is stable for now?
          2.  I never made any power changes or BIOS changes after I installed the new cooler.  Should I have?
          3.  After I reset the CMOS was I soupposed to reinstall the drivers from the MSI disk again?  I did not, and the system seems to be fine, but I thought I was soupposed to do that after a CMOS reset.
          4.  Is there a new BIOS version for my setup that may be better now?   Im currently on v1.5
    Here is a screenshot from CPUZ of the system information currently.  This is with it booting normally after my CMOS reboot.  I just figured id post it incase it helps with any of my questions.  Thanks so much for helping guys!

  • Help needed with recovery m

    Hi all?I have a zen microphoto, it was having problems and went into recovery mode. When i plug it into my computer it is reconised. But when i try to reload the firmware, i'm gegging a message?that my zen is not connected. Does anyone have any ideas. ThanksLins

    Hi
    Forget the HDD recovery now
    You have recovered the system using another disk and this has deleted the HDD recovery image files. So this option is NOT possible!
    You are right the L300 and all other notebooks are not delivered with Recovery disks.
    The recovery disk has to be created using the preinstalled software called Recovery Disk Creator. But this is also NOT possible because you removed the preinstalled system and the files which are needed for such recovery disk are not available anymore!
    But if everything work properly except of the WLan FN + F8 key, then I would recommend to install only the Wlan driver. I think the key does not work because the right WLan driver is not installed.
    I think the Satellite L300-149 supports the Wlan Realtek RTL8187B chip.
    So install the right Wlan driver which you can find here:

  • Help - need vfat recovery

    I just did the dreaded thing - was going to copy from one usb vfat to another.
    I was going to do a 'mkdosfs -F32' on the target drive and did the source drive instead (I've not accessed it since then!!!).
    Any good linux tools out there?? (or my daughter's gonna kill me!!)
    Plueeeze help! I'm trying to google but so far has found only windows tools, I _need_ linux.

    Then you could try dd to make an image of the drive then mount it in a loop device and go from there.
    In my case no files where overwritten too, just a messed up partition table (extended partitions included) and the programs sorted it out.
    In your case most probably just adding a new partition of type vfat without creating the file system after that could work too but I would work on the image
    To make the image:
    sudo dd if=/dev/sdx of=/home/yourusername/thumbd.img
    where x is the letter of your "dead" thumbdrive.
    To mount it as a loop device:
    sudo losetup /dev/loop0 /home/yourusername/thumbd.img
    you may need to do this first before you can use the loop device:
    sudo modprobe loop
    then just use /dev/loop0 as you would use /dev/sdx

  • Hard Drive Failure on HP DV 6000 Pavilion laptop Windows-XPsp3 OS - Need Data Recovery Help

    Hard Drive Failure on HP DV 6000 Pavilion laptop - Need Data Recovery Help
    HP Pavilion DV 6108 NR, RG365UA, purchased in late 2006 at Best Buy, with Windows XP, upgraded to Service Pack 3. It has a Fujitsu hard disk, 60 gigabyte, partitioned into C: and a Recovery D:.
    Windows tries to boot up, but goes to blue screen with the message: "Unmountable Boot Volume" for one second, then just keeps recycling until I force a shutdown.
    BIOS Phoenix, hard drive test result: " #1-08 Fail "
    I ran a disk analysis/recovery program on the Cdrive and it seemed to show the directory structure intact, and it was able to recover some files. I was using the free one from Seagate (which only recovers small files). The second pass didn't run so well, and during the third run the program said I should not proceed further, and I should contact a professional disk recovery company.
    However, the D drive seems to be intact, so, I wonder if the disk is corrupted or just some aspect of the logical C drive is bad.
    How can I get the D: to run the recovery software on it? The recovery disks, made by Best Buy, only proceed to the R / F / Q option screen, and when I press R, I get a blue screen every time.
    Tapping the F10 key during startup gets me nowhere. Ditto the F11 key.
    I dont care about the hard disk; it is the data (files, docs, images, etc)  that I want.
    I contacted HP to order recovery disks but they are no longer available for my computer.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Update...
    I found a website that offers the following:
    http://www.computersurgeons.com/p-13442-recovery-kit-435422-001-for-hp-model-number-dv6108nr.aspx
    Recovery Kit 435422-001 For HP Model Number dv6108nr
    Price: $27.00
    Recovery Kit Set (An Entire Image of the Computer hard drive when the computer was new)
    But I wonder how useful it would be. Early XP , no doubt. And if my hard disk problem is a mechanical fault, would any recovery disk even work? The disks made by Best Buy when I bought mine new in 2006 don't do anything more than go to the R /F/ Q screen and then goes to a blue screen when I press R (to recover the OS and apps and data files). And, as I wrote, it is the data that I want, not the disk drive.

  • HP Pavilion dv6000 I need a recovery disc. Help

    Greetings,
    I purchased a HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook about 7 or 8 years ago, and it recently crashed on me. Every time I turn it on it doesn't reach my sign window where I input my password, it only keeps on restarting itself. I seem to have lost my recovery and drivers disc and now, I need help acquiring another recovery disc.
    The model of my notebook is:
    HP Pavilion d6000
    AMD Turion 64
    Windows XP
    s/n: {Removed for privacy}
    p/n: RG253UA#ABA
    I need a recovery disc with the OS and drivers for my notebook. I am aware I will probably have to pay for one. Any help out there? Thanks in advance forum!

    Hi:
    You have a HP Pavilion dv6105us Notebook PC.
    You can try calling HP at one of these 2 numbers to see if you can get a set of recovery disks from them.
    800-474-6836 or 888-999-4747.
    If you can't get them from HP anymore, you can get them from this 3rd party vendor for $27 + shipping.

    Hi,
    In order for you to reset the SRW224G4P you need to use a Data cable and use the console port of the switch. Once you are on the Console screen you could do a hardware reset.

  • Help Needed! Getting the files off the recovery disc and onto the computer. How?!?

    Okay, I shut down my computer a few hours ago like normal and I restarted it again when I wanted to go on it which was later this evening. A screen popped up that said press enter to continue and a bunch of code, so I did just pressed 'Enter' like it asked. Then another screen came up that said,  "Your computer could not start up, we are finding and fixing the problems, ect ect." And then there was a percentage at the bottom of how much was completed.
    So after it was finished, my computer started to totally restart, like I just bought the computer. It had me remake everything. And when it was all done EVERYTHING except for the programs that came with the computer where gone. I noticed a recovery disc and how it was almost full, and it said it has all my programs on it and to not delete it. Well okay if it has all my programs....
    How in the world do I get everything from the recovery disc back onto my computer?
    Please comment on any information that can help!

    The recovery partition on the hard drive does not have your programs/files. It holds the files to reinstall Windows and all original software/drivers that came on the laptop. In other words, it does exactly what just occurred.

  • "needs media recovery" after a successful recovery ???

    RMAN novice here....
    Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 on Redhat Linux (Itanium)
    Running in NOarchivelog mode
    In RMAN, I backed up a set of datafiles in read only mode taking this approach....
    sql "alter tablespace foo read only";
    configure channel 1 device type disk format 'backupdisk/mybackuparea/foo.dbf.bck';
    backup datafile 'dbdisk/mydb/foo.dbf';
    sql "alter tablespace foo read write;
    Everything seemed to go fine.
    After some time, I wanted to restore/recover. This is what I did (again, in RMAN"...
    sql "alter fablespace foo offline";
    restore datafile 'dbdisk/mydb/foo.dbf';
    recover datafile 'dbdisk/mydb/foo.dbf' noredo;
    sql "alter tablespace foo online";
    My first stab at it, without the "noredo" failed. But with the "noredo" I got
    "Starting recover at ...."
    A set of channel assignment statements
    "Finished recover at ..."
    Looks to have run OK.
    But then, when I try to put the tablesopace back online...
    "failure of sql command on default channel at...."
    "failure during parse/execution of SQL statement: alter tablespace foo online"
    "file 1 needs media recovery"
    "data file 1: 'dbdisk/mydb/foo.dbf'"
    What gives?
    Thanks for any help

    I've read the books and googled this to death.
    Looks like I'm screwed.
    At this point, I don't even care about the datafile or the tablespace it contained. I just want my database back.
    I dropped the tablespace and it's datafile (and it's data too). I'll have to repopulate from scratch.
    Lesson learned
    This is what I want to do.....
    I want to do a 1x/wk backup of a schema (not the whole DB, I don't have enough disk space for that, just 1 of the schemas). I've designed the thing such that each schema has it;s own tablespaces (no overlap) and each tablespace maps to a single datafile.
    I would have liked to do some sort of online backup of the schema (read/write while backup is happening), but I'll settle for read only. If Oracle can't hack that, then I'll take the tablespaces offline.
    The schema contains hundreds of millions of records, and the load preocess involves several times that number of data manipulation statements (deletes, updates, inserts). I'd rather not use archivelog mode because I don't have the disk space for it. And, given the volume and nature of the data I'm loading (hundreds of millions of records, created from the data in large raw data files), and how it's being loaded (precompiled C/SQL programs), I would never have need to "rerun" the enormous archives for any reason.
    So...
    1) backup a single schema (an exclusive set of tablespaces/datafiles)
    2) as "online" as possible
    3) in noarchivelog mode.
    The only thing that I've seen that can do this is EXPORT/IMPORT. I tried that, but extrapolating IMPORT performance, even with all the streamlining recommendations, would take over 3 days. For this reason, IMPORT is not a viable option.

  • GT70 0ND-204US Windows 7 removed and recovery fails due to drive reformat

    Model Number:GT70 0ND-204US
    Hello,
    I was attempting to install Unbuntu from a LiveCD to an external hard drive and I believe during that process I accidentally reformatted the SSD to be an ext4 partition and swap space.  When I rebooted to try to get into windows I got an error that said, "Bootmgr is missing" and when I tried to enter recovery mode I got as far as seeing a Windows 7 like user interface but then I was shown the error (paraphrasing here), "The installation drive must be named OS_install please try again."
    I'm typing this using the LiveCD on the undermentioned  computer and can use any tools available in Unbuntu if further diagnostic information is needed.
    Cheers!
    Also I would like to thank anyone in advance for their help and even if you're just reading this I appreciate the time you have given.

  • Need a Recovery CD for HP Pavilion dv6t-7000, want to purchase the cd from south america

    Hi there:
    I accidentally deleted all partitions from my HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 hard disk, I need the recovery disk, where can I purchase and download it?

    If you know someone in the USA... order the discs or have them order the discs and send to their address. Once they receive the discs, have them mail the disc set to you in Venezuela.
    Alternatively, if you can still read the 25-digit Windows product key on the Microsoft COA affixed to the bottom the computer, you can install Windows 7 using this key. Please see "How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc" for instructions on how to download Windows 7, create the installation media, and install Windows 7 using the 25-digit product key from the Microsoft COA on your computer. Using this method will not install any HP customizations or value-added software and you will have to manually install all needed drivers.
    If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

  • Help needed on installation of Oracle 9i on Sun Solaris 8

    Hey,
    Help needed on installation of Oracle 9i EE on Sun Solaris 8. The problem I met was: we followed the installation guide from the documentation. And we selected the choice "install software only". After it was done successfully, we run Database Configuration Assistant utility to create a database instance. But finally it always tried to create the instance at the root directory ( / ) which doesn't have enough space and then failed. The case was that we have set the enviroment parameters: $ORACLE_BASE = /export/mydata, $ORACLE_HOME = /export/apps/oracle9i. That means it should be installed at /export/mydata, but it didn't. Any help or advice are welcome. Thanks.
    Simon

    I have downloaded Oracle 11G R2 version from Windows and extracted it in Windows and copied it into DVD after extraction in two folders. Now I am mounting that DVD in Solaris 10 installed in my VMware . I made a new directory named as 'installation ' under /export/home/oracle and copied the folders from DVD to 'installation' folder. Now I am entering installation folder and try to do ./runInstaller as 'oracle ' user and getting the error mentioned before.

I would like a service manual though so that I can get the case apart without damage. So , can anyone help me with a phone number , pretty please ?!!
