Help needed in installing oracle applications 11i in Linux

Hi every one . i m trying to install oracle applications 11i suite in Linux machine.. but i am getting error in the following way
Error in File System
Error - Unable to create directory with proper privileges:
Database ORACLE_HOME
Mount Point = /d02/oracle/proddb/9.0.2
and it continues for all the directories which application is trying to create..
And also Error in File Space Check
Error - Not enough free disk space on system :
Database ORACLE_HOME = /d02/oracle/proddb/9.2.0
required = 2905.0
available = 0.0
I have some 140 GB free space in my disk... Please help me out... thankx in advance

Nothing changed .. its shows the same error...
i will explain my scenario... i have a dump of Oracle suite in Hard Drive.
assigned value to LD_ASSUME_KERNEL
Creater Users. group
created directories oracle & apps
and given permissions... to the directories...
Its showing the same error again and again... plz help out

I am trying to install oracle applications 11i on Windows XP Professional and for some reason the process is getting stuck at :
Step 3 of 5
Command: c:\oracle\proddb\9.2.0\temp\PROD\adrundb.cmd
g Performing database characterset conversion adsvdcnv.cmd
I have tried several times and everytime it is getting stuck at this stage only.
I am installing in language English only... and selected most of the options defaulted by the system.
The system doesnot give any error message but get stuck at this point for hours. Couldn't figure out the problem... Please throw in some ideas... Thanks in advnance...

Check the install log, this will tell you what happened with the file that was having problems. If you want to email the log to me i will have a look. But a lot of people have the same problem with this file so it's easy to fix.

There are installations guides for the various Oracle Application Server offerings. So my first suggestion would be to have a look around relevant documentation section of OTN and see what you can learn.
As you've mentioned OC4J, that does indicate you are looking at Oracle Application Server 10g:

Error while installing Oracle Applications 11i on Windows XP Home

Hi friends,
I am a functional consultant and trying to install oracle apps 11i on my home pc for learning purpose (I made a fresh install of windows for this purpose). I strictly followed the instructions given in following article:

Step1 and Step2 complete successfully to 100%, however just before moving to Step3 it gives error: "RW-50004: Error code received when running external process.". i am getting some problems.
I have dump of entire oracle applications software in my hard disk. I doesn't have DVD's. And i think i doesn't need to run perl script before installing appliations. When i install oracle applications from hard disk .. it gives me a successful installation . But later i am unable to connect to database or and linux is unable to recognize the sql command or envionment variables are not working. I am trying to install on stand alone machine. Please help me out/???

I create soft links via ln -s to the environment scripts:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 oracle dba 43 2005-02-10 20:29 vis9.env -> /lv03/oracle/vis9db/9.2.0/vis9_socrates.env
lrwxrwxrwx 1 applmgr appl 33 2005-02-10 20:27 vis9.env -> /lv03/oracle/vis9appl/APPSORA.env
So in oracle user home directory, I type ln -s /lv03/oracle/vis9db/9.2.0/vis9_socrates.env vis9.env
Then just type . vis9.env to take on the database environment as the oracle user.
In the applmgr home directory, I type ln -s /lv03/oracle/vis9appl/APPSORA.env vis9.env
Then just type . vis9.env as applmgr, to assume the applications environment. You will need to be in this environment to start/stop the applications.
cd to $OAD_TOP/admin/scripts/*
to stop:
./adstpall.sh apps/apps
to start:
./adstrtal.sh apps/apps

Installing Oracle Applications 11i using an external hard drive

Hi All,
I have a laptop with 60 gigs in it. As per the quick install CD in the Oracle Apps 11i pack I need to have at least 80 gigs space. So I wanted to know if it is possible to install Oracle Apps using a external hard drive and the Quick Install option. If anyone has done this please share it with me.

Thanks for the info. I was waiting for confirmation on this before I went out and bought an external hard drive. My laptop runs a Windows XP Home edition OS and it is the only OS on the machine.
I scoured the market for external hard drives and it turns out that there is a wealth of information out there. Could you give me some pointers on which one of these you would recommend.
Also once the external hard drive is in place do I need to follow a different installation process or I can use Quick Install as is. If I remember correctly the info given in Quick Install stated that in Windows it would need some amount of space on my Temp folder which is why I needed extra space as my hard drive was only 60 gigs.
Now with this external hard drive will it automatically detect this and then try and load the files in this new space or will Quick Install still try to use the space in the Temp folder.
Really appreciate your help on this one.

first of all you have to choose a 9i version for vista,you can have it from here:

this will solve your problem,as vista was developed after 9i,you have to have a vista version of 9i

Is there any way to determine the installed Oracle Application 11i (11.5.10.2)bit version? Whether the Oracle Application was installed using 32 bit media or 64 bit media? OS is HP-UX PA-RISC 2.0 64 bit but need to determine the Oracle Application version (32/64 bit?). Please suggest.

For your EBS version, it's 32-bit for the application tier node -- Please see (Oracle Applications Installation Update Notes, Release 11i (11.5.10.2) (Doc ID 316806.1)) for details.
If your question is related to patching EBS, please see (Can the 64 bit version of patch 8888184 be applied to a 32 bit OS? (Doc ID 1054058.1)) which also answers your main question as well.

Appletviewer for Oracle Application 11i

Has any one could help me to run Oracle Application 11i using Appletviewer on SUN SPARC ? I could not run the same application using any browser on this platform as well.
