  • Can we use the AdventureWorks2008R2 data for the real time project.

    Hi,
In our project we are trying to do the data scrambling on First name, last name and middle name...
In the regular practice we use to update the names as
    First Name = FN+<PERSON_SNO>
    Last Name = LN+<PERSON_SNO>
    Middle Name = MN+<PERSON_SNO>
The Problem is the names are not looking realistic, so I thought of applying some logic and updating our PERSON table names based on Person.Person table in adventure works.
My question is can we use the AdventureWorks2008R2 data for the real time project. Is there any cop right issue.
Someone please help me solve this issue.

  • Help needed with CVI real time

    Hi,
I am new to CVI real time and need help related to this. I will explain my scenario:
    1. I have few configuration files (INI). Need to validate the files (range checking..etc) during start of the application.
    2. When user clicks "START" in the user interface on the host machine, I need to generate outputs (analogs/discretes...) based on the settings in the config file and read some inputs from other instruments. ( I/O tasks like generating outputs/reading inputs i am planning to perform in RT side)
    3. From the user interface,  user can also change the config files. if user changes the files, again file validation needs to be performed. After changing the files, if user clicks START, need to take the newly enetered config files to perfom I/O tasks.
    4. I am NOT using reflective memory for my application.
I am confused in the following area:
    1. File validation during startup , do i have to perform on both host and RT side?????
    2. if configuration files are changed in the host side by the user, how i have to send this latest file names to RT??? I think i should not send file names, i need to read from the file and its contents i need to pass to RT....Pls correct me , I am not sure about this....
    3. If I have to send file contents to the RT, how I have to do that....means i have to use structures,..???
Please guide me. Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hey haari,
    1. File validation during startup , do I have to perform on both host and RT side?????
This depends on the full range of responsibility for the INI files. If they are all needed simply to change what the I/O tasks are for, then you would technically only need to validate the INI file contents on the RT side. You could, however, validate on both sides if you wanted to. However, I would probably set it up such that I send a validation command to the target, have the target run a component of the code that validates the INI contents based on how I instructed it, and then return a message that says whether or not it met the requirements I specified. However, if you are concerned with offloading that process to the user desktop (instead weighing down the RT controller performance), you could FTP the file off of the controller and perform the validation process on the host side.
    2. if configuration files are changed in the host side by the user, how i have to send this latest file names to RT??? I think i should not send file names, i need to read from the file and its contents i need to pass to RT....Pls correct me , I am not sure about this....
You can send them to the target over FTP. This can be done programmatically, through MAX, command window, or a Web browser.
    3. If I have to send file contents to the RT, how I have to do that....means i have to use structures,..???
This is basically addressed in answer to question two. You would not need another structure in your RT code to handle the FTP receive component as this is handled by the FTP Client/Server communication. However, in the event that you successfully FTP a file to the target, you should likely send a message from the host to the target so that the target can respond accordingly and reload the file, reestablish the I/O values, run an idle procedure, or do whatever you like.
Hope this helps. Have a great day!

Now I wanted to know how the real time projects in XI will be
can any one share their ideas who has knowledge on xi real time projects....
    i have heard of scenarios like A2A, B2B, B2C
what type of scenario we use mostly, which adapters comes in what type of scenarios.....i would like to know all these
plz share ur ideas, if possible, send me some links on the above lines.......
    thanks,
    satish

    Hi Satish,
<i>what type of scenario we use mostly,</i>
    >>>>>It depends on the Business process/flow and requirements.
Generally ,Most of the time one of the systems(either Source or Target) will be SAP Systems. So once your Source or Target is SAP systems, then it is clear that the way of communications will be Idocs/RFC/Proxies.
And A2A is most common scenarios, when your integration is dealing with the systems in in your landscape. If it is outside the landscape or across the firewall then B2B comes into picture.
<i>which adapters comes in what type of scenarios</i>

  • In a Real time project what would be the agent assignment attribute setting

    Dear Experts,
I have never worked on a workflow project. I have been only practising workflow on a IDES system. I would like to know in a real live production system what settings do we use when we define the agent assignment at the task level? Do we set the attribute as GENERAL TASK always?
To be more specific as in the task attributes we have many options like
    GENERAL TASK
    GENERAL FORWARDING ALLOWED,
    GENERAL FORWARDING NOT ALLOWED AND
    FORWARDING NOT ALLOWED.
From the first three options which is most generally used in a real time projects?
    AND
is it necessary to always set the attribute as GENERAL TASK before transporting the workflow definition to other systems from the development system?
appreciate your help on the same.
    cheers
    chky

    Hello Learner,
It depends on the requirement, but in most of the cases we assign the task as general task.
To have some more information on the various attributes,
    ·        General task
If you define a task as a general task, all users can execute the task. This is useful if the task is used in a workflow and you only want to define the recipients in the step definition. A recipient can forward associated work items to all users.
Work items whose tasks are defined as general tasks and for which no responsible agents or default rules are defined are offered to all users of the SAP System for execution in their Business Workplaces.
    ·        General forwarding allowed
A work item that represents a task with this property can be forwarded by one of its recipients to all users, even if they are not possible agents of the task.
    ·        General forwarding not allowed
A work item that represents a task with this property can be forwarded by one of its recipients only to the possible agents of the task.
    ·        Forwarding not allowed
A work item that represents a task with this property cannot be forwarded by one of its recipients.
    Hope this will help.

  • How can I Know the real time of my 24p project?

I made an animatc as part of planning a 7 min animated video on Premiere Pro using a 24p project, trunsting that my ruler is set to 24 fps and that the time displayed was the real time of the video (not the NDF time), since there was no indication on Premiere's create sequence window that the ruler was on NDF basis. (When you cerate a new sequence,on the new sequence settings window you set the timebase as 23,976, but the ruler is shown as 24FPS, no indication of drop or non drop frame.)
Recently I Had to export a 29,97 version of my project, and it was in fact 14 frames bigger. So I concluded that my time ruler was also showing me a NDF time not the real time of the video.
Is there a way of creating a 24p project, with a ruler that gives me the real "clock" time? Or any Formula to "convert" a NDF time to DF (real) time, so I know where, on an NDF ruler, do I have  to stop to have a 7 min video?
    Thanks in advance

I think the best you can do is use the System Information application (Utilities Folder), looking in the wireless section.

  • What is step by step in real time project i.e. end-to-end life cycle?

what is step by step in real time project i.e. end-to-end life cycle?

    Hi Vamsi,
The below explanation gives you an idea of what is going to come after what in a software development.
These below stages are know as Software Development Life Cycle/Waterfall Model.
    1. System/Information Engineering and Modeling
As software is always of a large system (or business), work begins by establishing the requirements for all system elements and then allocating some subset of these requirements to software. This system view is essential when the software must interface with other elements such as hardware, people and other resources. System is the basic and very critical requirement for the existence of software in any entity. So if the system is not in place, the system should be engineered and put in place. In some cases, to extract the maximum output, the system should be re-engineered and spruced up. Once the ideal system is engineered or tuned, the development team studies the software requirement for the system.
    2. Software Requirement Analysis
This process is also known as feasibility study. In this phase, the development team visits the customer and studies their system. They investigate the need for possible software automation in the given system. By the end of the feasibility study, the team furnishes a document that holds the different specific recommendations for the candidate system. It also includes the personnel assignments, costs, project schedule, target dates etc.... The requirement gathering process is intensified and focussed specially on software. To understand the nature of the program(s) to be built, the system engineer or "Analyst" must understand the information domain for the software, as well as required function, behavior, performance and interfacing. The essential purpose of this phase is to find the need and to define the problem that needs to be solved .
    3. System Analysis and Design
In this phase, the software development process, the software's overall structure and its nuances are defined. In terms of the client/server technology, the number of tiers needed for the package architecture, the database design, the data structure design etc... are all defined in this phase. A software development model is thus created. Analysis and Design are very crucial in the whole development cycle. Any glitch in the design phase could be very expensive to solve in the later stage of the software development. Much care is taken during this phase. The logical system of the product is developed in this phase.
    4. Code Generation
The design must be translated into a machine-readable form. The code generation step performs this task. If the design is performed in a detailed manner, code generation can be accomplished without much complication. Programming tools like compilers, interpreters, debuggers etc... are used to generate the code. Different high level programming languages like C, C++, Pascal, Java are used for coding. With respect to the type of application, the right programming language is chosen.
    5. Testing
Once the code is generated, the software program testing begins. Different testing methodologies are available to unravel the bugs that were committed during the previous phases. Different testing tools and methodologies are already available. Some companies build their own testing tools that are tailor made for their own development operations.
    6. Maintenance
The software will definitely undergo change once it is delivered to the customer. There can be many reasons for this change to occur. Change could happen because of some unexpected input values into the system. In addition, the changes in the system could directly affect the software operations. The software should be developed to accommodate changes that could happen during the post implementation period.
    Reward if helpful.
    Thankyou,
    Regards.

  • Real time project doubts

    hi friends,
please explain me what are the approaches for real time project. what are functional spects and what are techincal spects, how can i get requirements from end user. max how many users will be there. please give me  with more details.
    Thanking u
    suneel.

    Hi,
Functional Specs are requirements of the business user.
Technical Specs translate these requirements in a techincal fashion.
    Let's say Functional Spec says,
    1. the user should be able to enter the Key date, Fiscal Year, Fiscal Version.
    2. The Company variable should be defaulted to USA but then if the user wants to change it, they can check the drop down list and choose other countries.
    3. The calculations or formulas for the report will be displayed in precision of one decimal point.
    4. The report should return values for 12 months of data depending on the fiscal year that the user enters Or it should display in quarterly values.
Functional specs are also called as Software requirements.
Now from this Techinal Spec follows, to resolve each of the line items listed above.
    1. To give the option of key date, Fiscal year and Fiscal Version - certain Info Obejcts should be availble in the system. If available, then should we create any variables for them - so that they are used as user entry variable. To create any varaibles, what is the approch, where do you do it, what is the technical of the objects you'll use, what'll be the technical name of the objects you'll crete as a result of this report.
    2. Same explanation goes for the rest. How do you set up the varaible,
    3. What changes in properties willu do to get the precision.
    4. How will you get the 12 months of data.
What will be the technical and display name of the report, who'll be authorized to run this report, etc are clearly specified in the technical specs

  • Adding Real-time projects with login.

Our system is LDAP'd, and I was wondering if there was a way to configure it such that upon successful login, an entry is created in the projects file that has users name and will update their rules.

It  sounds like I need to learn about charts and graphs. Any articles that I can read on how to understand the Labview way of doing it?
This what I understand about charts ... the time base is free running and when a data point is fed into it, it is printed on the chart display.
the free running time base can be referenced to the referenced real time clock of the system at time zero.
Attached is an example of using the real time clock to set the offset and using the choices in the property menu as I understand it.
Absolute and relative choices  have no use from what I can see.
I still digesting the info provided by you and Ken on charts and graphs.
Is there a guide with more detail and setup (How to)info than the Help files provide?
I am still learning the vocabulary , that is slowing me down in the search for a solution.
    In a nutshell,
I am reading downhole gauges (4-20mA) from a DGH module via RS485.
The readings are converted to pressure and temps and display on a strip chart.
One of the requirements is that gauge values on the chart need to be referenced  to time not just a free running reference of tick marks.
thanks for everyone's help on this.

The software versions of the NI products (MAX/My System/Software) between my LTH and the iPC are
almost the same. The only differences are:
    1. LabView Run-Time 2009 SP1 (64-bit); is installed on LTH but missing on iPC. The iPC has a 32-bit system.
    2. LabView Run-Time 2012 f3; is installed on LTH but missing on iPC.
    3. NI-DAQmx ADE Support 9.3.5; something strage on the LTH, because normally I am using NI-DAQmx 9.5.5 and all other DAQmx products on my LTH are 9.5.5. That means NI-DAQmx Device Driver 9.5.5 and NI-DAQmx Configuration 9.5.5.. On the iPC side all three products are 9.5.5.. That means NI-DAQmx ADE Support 9.5.5, NI-DAQmx Device Driver 9.5.5 and NI-DAQmx Configuration 9.5.5..
    4. Traditional NI-DAQ 7.4.4; The iPC has this SW installed. On the LTH this SW is missing.
In order to fix this problem I have formatted my PXI and I have installed the following SW from the iPC:
    1. LabVIEW Real-Time 11.0.1
    2. NI-488.2 RT 3.0.0
    3. NI_CAN 2.7.3
Unfortunately the above stated problem still arose.
What can I do to fix this problem?
    I found a hint on http://www.labviewforum.de/Thread-XNET-CAN-die-ersten-Gehversuche.
There it is written to deploy the dbc file againt.
If this is a good hint, so how do I deploy a dbc file?
I would feel very pleased if somebody could help me! :-)
    Best regards
    Lukas Nowak

    Hi Lukas,
I think the problem is caused by differenet drivers for the CAN communication.
NI provides two driver for CAN: NI-CAN and NI-XNET.
NI-CAN is the outdated driver which is not longer used by new hardware. NI replaced the NI-CAN driver with NI-XNET some years ago, which supports CAN, LIN and the FLEXRAY communication protocol.

    3. NI_CAN 2.7.3
NI CAN is the outdated driver. I think that you should try to install NI-XNET instead of NI-CAN on your PXI-System, to get rid of the error message.
