Help needed - Laptop won't work without adapter

I bought my MacBook exactly one month back. Today, while i was working on my laptop away from my desk, the laptop suddenly went off. The battery was at 78% and there was no reason for it to go off. Now, ever since that happened, my computer doesn't start or even run without the wall charger. I have the latest software releases and i have tried restarting countless times. I even tried removing the battery and putting it back again.
Any ideas as to what can I do to resolve this or what might be causing this. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, I have a late '08 macbook. Originally I had problems with the screen dimming and I took it to a licensed mac repair place and they fixed that. Then shortly afterward the mac wouldn't work unless it was plugged into the charger. At that point I bought a new battery, new charger and updated to 10.7.5. Now the laptop still won't work without the charger. I have tried the trick where you turn off the laptop unplug it and take out the battery hold down power for 5 seconds and then plug in the charger first then the battery. I realize there must be something wrong besides the charger or battery but I'm wondering if anyone has an idea and how much it might cost to fix.
This happened a year or so ago but this is the first time I will need to use it in a situation were I cannot be guaranteed an outlet.

Laptop isn't working without the AC!

My Powerbook G4 won't work without being plugged in the wall! The battery seems to be dead? I tried restarting my PMU, but I went through the procss and it didn't fix my problem! Could it be that my batter is dead? I didn't think it was because when I press the little button on the battery (to check it's life) it says it's full!! What is wrong? It's frustrating having a laptop and not being able to use it as one!!

Ps. I read that article on leaving your laptop on sleep for a while and then opening it up again.. it doesn't work!

It certainly worked for me. Before I let my Powerbook charge while sleeping, I reset the PRAM and PMU probably 8-10 times each, restarting, etc. I also reset permissions, cleaned my caches, and all usual maintenance. I removed the battery for a while, and just did several combinations of the above. THEN I read the article about putting the computer to sleep while plugged in. I was very skeptical, because NEVER has any simple solution worked when I had a computer problem, but it did work for me.
Keep at it. The only thing you can lose is a few hundred bucks if you don't.

Help, my sound is not working without headphones!

I dropped my phone in the toilet, after quickly receiving it and drying it off, it seemed everything worked fine. I turned it off and on and put in on the charger to see if that worked. But when I tried to use FaceTime, I said I had headphones in while I didn't. Now, it won't work without them. Help me!!

My scrollbar on my mouse pad on my laptop won't work since I downloaded the 4.0 version. I tried what some other people tried but I still can't get it to work.What can I do to fix it?

I just download the 4.0 version and my scroll pad on my laptop won't work. I have to use my arrow keys or the side bar on the side. The scroll pad works with Internet Explorer and anywhere else just not with Firefox's newest version.

This one is easy. The shortcut is for the old iTunes, that is why it won't work.
I assume you are using Windows.
If so, go to the bottom left of your screen and click the start button. Go up to programs and hold your cursor over it. A list of all your programs should pop up to the right. Move the curso over to iTunes. There should be an "about iTunes" and an iTunes logo there. Right click on the iTunes logo and click create shortcut (you can also just drag it out to your desktop). That will give you a desktop shortcut for your new version.

Today, two other users reported issues with the back-forward history list dropping down if they hovered the mouse pointer over the back or forward button -- without clicking -- and then moved the pointer downwards. One user was on a touchpad, I don't know about the other user. Are you experiencing anything like that?

Make sure you have the latest version of QuickTime (7.6.6) installed - if this is missing or out of date there may be no audio output from iTunes (including, but not limited to, playback through Bluetooth devices) or playback may be of poor quality.

When I don't have wifi I can't use iMessage. Before I got the ios7 update I could no matter if I had wifi or not, now it won't work without it. Other people can't send me text message is they are still using iMessage. How do I fix it?

Go to Settings>Messages and make sure that "Send as SMS" is turned on. Also, if you want to be able to send longer messages or photos when not on Wifi (i.e., not iMessaging), then also make sure that MMS Messaging is turned on.

I need help. Earphone won't work on stereo

I have late 2012 macbook pro, upgraded to mavericks, and when i plug my earphone it won't work on stereo. the left earphone doesn't produce sound. I thought it was my earphone but apparently my earphone is fine when i plug it into my phone. Fortunately the internal speaker still works on stereo. Has anyone ever experienced this ? I can't work if there's no music.. please help!

Go to Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI setup and see what the settings look like for built in output. Maybe the left channel is muted.
I'd try another pair of earphones too. Maybe it's the earphone jack on the computer.

Spilled Drink - Laptop won't recognise power adapter + screen backlight

Hi.
The other day, I had my 17" MacBookPro in a satchel bag, but made the foolish choice of leaving my Lucozade (Orange flavour if that helps!) in the bag.
Obviously, the Lucozade burst, submerging around two inches of the laptop, there part where the screen connects to the laptop, and submerging the power adapter port.
Now for around twenty four hours, the power adapter charged the laptop, but unfortunatly, the backlight on the screen suddenly didn't work, as in you could very faintly see it, but when you try to turn the display up, nothing happened.
Twenty four hours after the spill, the power adapter failed. I'm pretty certain it isn't the power adapter, which means the problems seems to lie with the power adapter port.
Now I opened up the laptop two days ago, (three days after the accident), and cleaned what ever Lucozade there was, and just in general cleaned up the insides of the MacBookPro (which is now around two-and-a-half years old.) Unfortunatly it didn't work.
So currently I have a MacBookPro with no battery power, and no screen backlight. So what i'm asking is for any advice at all!
Is it worth taking it to an independant laptop repair business? Would they be able to do much more than me?
Should I take it to a Mac shop? Would they know what to do?
Is there anything I can do myself?
Anyone else had a similar experience?!

I think the problem may be with the inverter board or cable. Do you have access to an external display? Maybe one you could borrow? If so, hook it up and see if you have good video on it. If you do, that would indicate that the video chip on the logic board is OK. And if you can get good video on the external, it would be a good opportunity to run the Apple Hardware Test.
One thing is that you really need to remove all traces of the Lucozade or you could have further issues on down the line. You could practice on the I/O board you removed. Flush it thoroughly with distilled or deionized water and dry it thoroughly (this could take weeks, maybe less if you have a warm dry place for drying). You could try cleaning any affected part this way, and it's possible--though not certain--that it could work again.

Gps won't work without data connection

does the gps feature need wifi or 3g to work cos i can't get it work without them.
and when i try to navigate to a destination it just says on "waiting for gps" even if i have wifi.

10.5 server features that won't work without xserve

We are opening up a branch office and want to use 10.5 as the server OS. My budget can't afford me an xserve at the moment but will have a G5 Mac Pro from the main office to use. Are there any features that won't work unless I have an xserve? I though I remembered reading something about this awhile back? Thanks for the help.

I can't think of anything else than Server Monitor doesn't work and there's no LOM.
Might be something else too.
LACP (aggregated interfaces) needs two or more ethernet interfaces.

Please help.
My MSI GT60 laptop won't boot past the MSI logo.
I also can't access the BIOS.

so your laptop freezes at MSI logo and if you spam or press DELETE button few times on boot do you then only get "-" line? if so then either it's bios has hanged itself so if your able to access cmos battery from back area where you can access hard drive, ram and such then disconnect cmos battery leave it disconnected for 15 mins also make sure ac and battery is disconnected to once done put cmos battery back and then actuall battery and try with starting the laptop and see if it passes by MSI logo if it hangs again at MSI logo then spam Delete and see if you can enter bios but if bios throws an black screen with "-" again then you would have to RMA your laptop since it sems something is wrong with your motherboard causing bios not wanting to work propertly.
