HELP NEEDED...No More White Backgrounds...

  I recently had someone design a logo for me (although I'm not exactly sure what program they used to create it), which I saved as a jpeg.  Anyhoo, I'm sure you know what question is coming next...how do I get rid of that hideous white background around it and make it transparent???  I'm terribly unfamiliar with using any type of design software, and to top it off, I currently only have access to the trial version of Illustrator CS4 so I'm still unsure of whether or not all of the features are available that can help me fix this problem.  I'm not even sure if Illustrator is the right solution.  Can someone please help???
Thanx

JPG images can't have a transparent background.
If it were me, I'd go back to the original creator and ask them for a vector file, not a jpg. JPGs generally are not the proper format for someone to deliver a logo in.
If you want to get rid of the background, you may as well use Photoshop since it's a jpg. There's no direct benefit to using Illustrator. If you want to stay in Illustrator, use the pen tool to draw a path around the outside of the logo, then select both the path and the logo and choose Object > Clipping Mask > Make. You'll then need to save it in a format that supports transparency such as .ai, .eps, or .psd. However, it still won't be a vector version of the logo. it will simply be a raster jpg with a vector path around it.

  • Need to remove white background for use on dark background

    Hi,
    I have a stock image of some people on a white background. I need to remove the white background so I can use the image in a project with a dark background. However when I put the edited subjects on the dark background, the people all have noticeable white borders around them which I assume means I am not getting all of the white out, especially around the hair. Can anyone recommend the best way of overcoming this? Thanks.

    Can anyone recommend the best way of overcoming this? Thanks.
    There is no single "best way". It all depends on the resolution of the image and its other quality properties. The - theoretically - cleanest and less workladden method would be to extract the luminance e.g. by converting to Lab mode and selecting the L channel, then adjust the channel range. However, if the foreground also contains lots of bright colors, clipping back the channel black and white points would also affect them and you'd need more adjustments to compensate or work with teh refine mask tool a lot to feather edges just like you would with a conventioan layer mask created from an interactive selection. On top of that you may also still need to apply all teh other dirty tricks like using a dark inner glow to cover up remaining bright areas or fill the outside with a dark color... Really depends, but you should be prepared to invest some time. Using longwinded manual painting and cloning may even be required...

    Open the image
    Use the Magnetic Lasso Tool (press keyboard letter L), and select the shoe. When you have navigated around the shoe, you will see the selection outline  ----"marching ants".  This indicates that the selection is active.
    Go to Layer Menu>Layer>New layer via copy, or CTRL+J
    Make the Background layer active again, then go to Layer Menu>New>Layer
    Go to Edit menu>Fill layer, in the dropdown select white. ok it.

  • HELP!? COMPLETELY WHITE BACKGROUND!?

    I have an issue concerning my 3rd Generation iPod Nano 4GB. The screen is completely white. The menu doesn't show up or anything. Its just a backlighted white. When i turn it off, it beeps two times and then turns off. And I can turn it on again and it still has a white screen. But yet it still plays music! I've reset it and that didn't help. I'm afraid to do anything else to it because I don't want to mess it up anymore than it already is. If anybody could help, it would be greatly appreciated because I pretty much eat sleep and breath music and I don't have enough money to buy a brand new iPod.

    I have the same problem. Restoring the software didn't work either.

  • Need help getting all white background for jewelry pics and resizing help for my website

    Can someone please help me?  I'm completely new to photoshop and I have elements 12 and I need to make the background all white for my jewelry photos.  I have googled instructions but a lot of my jewelry has chain in it so it's hard to select, erase etc.  I have no idea what I'm doing.  I also need to resize my photos to 400x400 but when I do they distort.  Someone told me I can collect the background color and then resize the canvas but again I'm a complete newbie and none of this makes any sense to me.
    Thank you

    no worries.

  • Need white background on photos for website, can anyone help?

    I dont have and dont know how to use photoshop but
    have been told its what I need for this job. I am upgrading my website and have quite a few photos
    that need a white background putting around them to make them clean and proffessional. Can anyone help me out? Am willing to pay for time. Typical
    example is pic below. Need just the machine and not any of the messy background?

    thanks for all the replies, very helpful. I could download a trial but fear even basic things would take an age for me to master.
    Very nice graphic Noel Carboni, exactly what im after. Would you consider doing the photos? I have maybe 15 of them max I would like doing.
    Re-taking pictures of a lot of them is not an option as they were special build machines and not our usual stuff.

  • Need a script that will put photo on white background

    I am currently using CS3 Photoshop on a MacPro Intel
    I have about 31,000 photos that I need to take the background out of. Most of the photos were not shot against white, black or green screens. These are mostly images of plumbing products. The majority of these images do have clipping paths. I am currently having to manually select the path, make selection, select inverse, cut the selection, save, close. I have tried to create a script to do this, but haven’t been successful in doing so yet. I have been able to create basic scripts in the past without issues, but this one has me stumped. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

    As long as the files do have clipping paths this should get you started. It applies the clipping path as a vector mask. All you should have to add is the save and close part. If you need help with that let me know what format you want to save and the save options.
    // apply clipping path as vector mask
    var clipPathIndex = clippingPathIndex();
    if( clipPathIndex != -1 ){
         activeDocument.layers[ activeDocument.layers.length -1 ].name = 'Converted Background';// rename bottom layer incase isBackground
         activeDocument.pathItems[ clipPathIndex ].select();
         createVectorMask();
         activeDocument.pathItems[ clipPathIndex ].deselect();
         // or
         //activeDocument.pathItems[ clipPathIndex ].remove();
    // Function: clippingPathIndex
    // Description: Gets the index of the activeDocument's clipping path
    // Usage: clippingPathIndex()
    // Input: None
    // Return: Index as Integer. -1 if there is no clipping path
    function clippingPathIndex(){
         var ref = new ActionReference();
              ref.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID("Dcmn"), charIDToTypeID("Ordn"), charIDToTypeID("Trgt") );
         var desc = executeActionGet( ref );
         var clippingPath =  desc.getObjectValue(charIDToTypeID("Clpg"));
         return  clippingPath.getInteger(charIDToTypeID("ClpI" ));
    // Function:  createVectorMask
    // Description: Make vector mask from active path
    // Usage: createVectorMask();
    // Input: None
    // Return: -1 if failed
    function createVectorMask() {
      try{
        var desc = new ActionDescriptor();
            var ref = new ActionReference();
            ref.putClass( charIDToTypeID('Path') );
        desc.putReference( charIDToTypeID('null'), ref );
            var mask = new ActionReference();
            mask.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID('Path'), charIDToTypeID('Path'), stringIDToTypeID('vectorMask') );
        desc.putReference( charIDToTypeID('At  '), mask );
            var path = new ActionReference();
            path.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID('Path'), charIDToTypeID('Ordn'), charIDToTypeID('Trgt') );

  • Removing color gradient background from video - help needed

    Hello everyone,
    I shot my son playing the violin against a white backdrop today, and what was pure white didn't turn out to be very white, I have gray
    areas, off white areas because of incorrect lighting.
    I want the background to be more white and more even than what it is right now.
    I thought of moving the video from track 1 up to track 2.
    I added in a title, which consists of a big box of white ( using the retangular tool I just drew a large white retangle that covers the entire movie area )
    Now to remove some of that white backdrop, I thought I would try some of the tools below, to remove the real backdrop, and let the white retangle
    from track 1 come through. ( so that the pure white comes through from track 1. )
    I've been going through the various options,
    - Chroma Key
    - Color Key
    - Change Color
    - Change To Color
    After 30 some minutes of fldding around, I thought I would just stop, and ask for help.  How would you proceed with this ?
    What process would you use ?
    I'm just puzzled as to which tool is best suited for a job like this, because right now my results are not to my liking, and it's just hard to get anything
    that looks good at all.
    Thanks for all help,
    Dave.

    Hi Harm,
    Thanks for the great response, I don't have Ultra CS3, but will look into Keylight.  I'm going to try the garbage mattes and chroma key route
    for now and see what I can do.
    You are indeed a weatlh of info.
    Thanks again,
    Dave.

  • After Effects Needing .0002GB more of memory,  Help!

    I am currently careting an informational video for my company in After Effects CC. The video is roughly 4 minutes long but I am breaking it down into smaller projects. The only I am currently working on it about a minute long and is basically just a slide show of products we use. For the slideshow I am using Idustrial Revolution: CoverFlux. I keep trying to preview it but it gets to about 3 seconds and tells me " AE cannot allocate .0002GB of memory to render the current frame.". I have tryed to add More RAM to AE giving it the max it will let me (6.5 GB), I have cleared any Cache, etc and it still will not allow me to render it. Is there any way to give it more memory or do I just need to upgrade the memory of my computer? I have a 27in iMac with 8GB of memory and room for 2 more memory slots saying " each slot accepts a 1600 MHz DDR3 memory module. " If I upgrade to more memory will that help me? Or using an external hard drive?

    > I'm using the most up to date AE in the could.
    Please give the exact version number.
    > One of your program developers was playing around withthose settings he said and it wasn't helping render any more than roughly 5 additional frames.
