Help needed to import movies to iTunes

I have a QuickTime movie file (.qt) I'd like to add to my iTunes library but whenever I try to iTunes doesn't do anything. Here are things I've tried to do:
Clicking "Add File to Library"/"Add Folder to Library"
Dragging into iTunes
Looking in "Home Videos"
Checking that my file isn't "Read Only"
Updating both iTunes and QuickTime
From the file, clicking "Open with --> iTunes"; it acts like it's going to open and a new window is about to pop up, but nothing happens afterwards/nothing opens
Converting to a .avi file, same results
Any help please?

Help needed - half successful move of iTunes to external drive

I have just purchased a WD external drive and have attempted to move the contents of iTunes (but not the programme) to it from my Mac's hard drive. It seems that podcasts etc have been moved, but not the music files (they all appear in iTunes, but with ! in front of some of them and when you select a track to play you get an error message that says the track can't be found.
How can I resolve this?

What format is the extrenal drive? How are you moving the iPhoto library?
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

If they are your own private vdieos, it's fine to import them. They need to be in the right format i.e. Quickitme format or MPEG4.
If the are not you need to convert them, here is a link to a free converter, I have not tried it myself so can not vouch for its quality:

You can't put films into the cloud, whether they will show for redownloading (e.g. via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage) depends upon what country that you are in (they can't be redownloaded in all countries), whether you've changed countries since buying them (they won't show if you have), and if the rights-holder keeps them in your country's store (any item could be removed from the store at any time) - rather than relying on being able to redownload them you should copy them (and the reset of your iTunes library) to a backup drive (preferably drives) so that you have your own copy. By default your iTunes library is stored under : /Users/username/Music/iTunes
You can delete them from your library by selecting them and pressing the delete key on your keyboard.

So far this discussion board has been my saviour as am new to all this ipod business. Hopefully someone can answer this question too...
I have some movie files on my computer but they are AVI files. When I try to import them into itunes (by selecting add file to library) nothing happens at all. Do I have to convert the files to another type? If so, what's the best way to do this? I found a website which said I should convert them to mov files using a program called SUPER. Is this correct? Cause I tried this already and it took hours just to do one standard film.
I would be so grateful if someone could help me out on this one. It's driving me crazy! Thanks in advance

You would have to use a program, but the Touch won't work with high resolutions, it just doesent import them to it, 853 x 480 or lower is best to use

Import movie into iTunes

Probably simple but i don't know how to do it.
Made a video and put it on dvd of my kid - deleted it from my mac, now I want to import it to iTunes so it can be synced to my kids iPod.
I need to be walked through the steps to do this.

First you need to get the movie on your DVD into a iPod format:
- RIP the movie file from the DVD using Handbrake (or some similar app). In Handbrake, you make sure the output file is for iPod (or whatever format you may want)
Once the movie is ripped from the DVD, you can then drag it onto the iTunes icon (or onto iTunes' window), and iTunes will import the movie.
Then, with your iPod connected, under its Movies tab (in iTunes), make sure it will sync with the iPod. Click sync an enjoy.

Open iMovie '08, select the "Import Movies..." File menu option, navigate to where the movie is located on your hard drive and import it in the "Copy" mode. Here i am using Ipod touch, nw i am trying to add the movies into itunes but nothing is happening when i drag the movie into itubes and even added also.
Can anyone help me on this.

Looking on the web I found that the Graboid video content needs converting. Itunes will accept mp4 or m4v.
There are many converting apps out there. Handbrake is free and has presets for Apple TV and iphone etc
Remember it is illegal to convert videos you do not have copyright to.

Import movie to iTunes

I have created a movie in Final Cut Pro and exported it to a DVD using DVD Studio Pro. I also have a quicktime .MOV version of the movie.
I want to import this movie into iTunes so I can download it to my iPhone. However, although I can import the .MOV file, it comes in with the wrong aspect ratio (4:3 instead of 16:9). I can't see how to import from the DVD at all...
Any ideas?

Need some more information:
What codec was used to generate the .mov from FCP and is it PAL or NTSC?
What are the current pixel dimensions?
You can find this out by opening the file in QuickTime Player and pressing cmd and i keys.

Can't import movies to iTunes after setting up iTunes Match

Hi. I setup iTunes Match a couple of weeks ago (love it, btw), but for some reason since I set it up I can no longer import .m4v files into the Movies library. There is no error, they just never copy over.
iTunes 10.6.1(7) 64-bit on MacPro running OS X 10.7.3
Any ideas? Maybe its a strange coincidence, but I noticed the problem shortly after setting up Match.

Also, iTunes match gets stuck sometimes so you have to log out of match and log back in before your imported movies show up in your iTunes library.

I already had a folder full of music files on this hard drive so I now have 2 folders with music files, the iTunes folder with music recently imported from cd's and the old folder. The library points to references to both of these folders but not ALL of the files in the old folder as I don't need them in iTunes.
I now want to be able to listen to my iTunes library when not connected to the external drive. How do I do this? If I reset the location of my iTunes folder back to the macbook do I then need to consolidate, and if I do will only the files with reference pointers go into this folder? I don't want all the music files in the old folder to go onto the macbook, only the ones with reference pointers to them, plus the ones in the iTunes music folder.

Help needed in importing application - Urgent

I am new fairly new to apex and would be grateful for any help....
I have an application that i would like to import and install... but i am obtaining an error...
Situation is as follows:
Application in machine A with oracle 10g standard and apex 3.0. Workspace is portal, schema is status_portal...
export is working fine.
Need to import it to machine B with oracle 10g and apex 3.0 Workspace is
online_portal, schema is portal
Import also works fine...
But when i try to install the imported application, i get following error:
ORA-20001: GET_BLOCK Error. ORA-20001: Execution of the statement was unsuccessful. I have tried exporting from machine A to apex online workspace and installing there.... and vice versa...It is working fine...
the problem arises only when i try import & install on machine B....

(from workspace auditws and schema audit_schema to workspace online_portal and schema portal)
I get the error as said before
"Access Denied by application security check" Also, i observed that,
the application gets installed in auditws and audit_schema itself...
