Help needed to sync Nokia 5800 with Ovi Suite, but...

I need to back up my phone with Ovi suite before my phone goes to Vodafone for repair as the lcd screen isnt working. how do I sync my phone when I cant read the sms sent to set the sync up?

if u hv the mobile wd u and u r able to switch on ur mobile and also hear the startin tune.. U can attach the phone to pc and sync using ovi suite.. U DONOT need to select the connection mode.. It gets selected by default if u start the ovi suite..

Can I sync two Nokia phones with Ovi Suite?

I have 2 different Nokia phones. I'd like to save my data to my PC, so I've just downloaded and installed Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23.
When I connected the second phone successfully, there was a green link that said something like "Get tips on syncing several phones with Ovi Suite". However when I clicked there, nothing happened.
When I click "Help->Nokia Ovi Suite Help" on the toolbar, nothing happens, no help tips.
The first phone synced all 82 photos and Contacts and messages to Ovi Suite.
I created a new album with that phone's name, and dragged those pictures from "All" to the new album, to try & keep them organized.
When I connected the second phone all of the Contacts synced (there were a lot) and now they are mixed in with the contacts from the first phone. However the photos would not sync. Then a few photos synced, making a total of 156 shown in All (which included the 82 photos from the first phone). When I would click "Sync" nothing visible happened.
But I did see the photos from the second phone on the PC. I did drag them from the PC into the album created with the name of the second phone.
Now when I look at the photo album with the first phone's name, it says "You have no photos or videos in this album, Drag photos and videos to this album." Yikes! But they are still on my PC.
This is very confusing. I agree with the others, Nokia PC Suite worked well, Ovi Suite seems very confused.
Is any of this uploaded to my online Ovi account?

Somewhere on the nokia ovi website it says you need to use seperate windows logins. Have one login for work and use that when you use ovi to sync your work phone. Other login to sync your personal phone. I lost the link to that webpage, but that is about all it said.
ronni333 - I also had problem with ovi help, the link appeared to be empty. I was using Google Chrome to surf the net. Problem solved by using Internet Explorer instead.

Nokia 5800 and Ovi Suite Contacts Sync Changes Pic...

Hi,
I have a Nokia 5800 and just installed the latest Nokia Ovi Suite (2.0).
It is a good tool, but I have a problem with the synching my contacts.
Befor Ovi sync, I use to associate pictures from my gallery with contacts. When I dial the contacts the picture of the contact took up most of the screen (until the contact answers the call - then it makes the picture small and puts it in the speech bubble)
After I sync'ed with Ovi Suite, the contact picture now shows up as a small - very small - thumbnail image during the call on the phone.
Is there something that can be done to protect this from happening, or a setting that can be changed in Ovi to use a large picture instead of a thumbnail?
My 5800 has the latest firmware installed (available to me in my country) - which is 31.0.101.

Syncing Nokia 5800 to Ovi??? How???

I'm having major problems transferring my music to my new Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic. I have downloaded all my music onto the Ovi plalyer but when I connect my phone a message pops up on the phone asking me to select USB mode and choose between, 'PC Suite', 'Mass Storage', Image transfer', or media transfer. No matter which one I choose I can see no option on the Ovi player where |I can sync the phone and transfer my music to it (as per my ipod and itunes which is pretty straightforward!)
I'm assuming I can actually do this through Ovi player?
I have managed to transfer my music onto the phone from windows media player but it saves into a 'music' folder and not onto the music player. The only way I can access this music is by going into 'applications' from the main menu, then, 'file manager' then 'memory card' then the music is listed but it's driving me mental by not being on the proper music player.

Yep tried all that. I cannot see the sync button anywhere on OVI. Where on the screen is it? I think maybe that OVI is not recognising that the phone is connected, although in saying that it does come up with the list of songs that are on the phone which I downloaded via windows media player. When I right click on the ovi screen the 'transfer' option is not highlighted like the rest of the options. I have tried dragging and dropping from the list of songs and dropping them into the phone button but to no avail. I have set up auto transfer but that doesn't seem to be working. I have tried all the connection options when I plug in the phone via USB.
Although I have songs on the phone I want to transfer them through OVI.
Lastly when I was syncing through windows media player the transfer stopped after 536 songs. Is this a normal amount of songs that it can store on a 6gb mini sd? I have no other photos, videos or games stored on it. 536 songs doesn't seem like a lot.

Sync N97 contacts with Ovi Suite 2.0 & Outlook XP

I just upgraded Ovi Suite from v1.1 to 2.0 and went to resync my N97 (now at v2.0 firmware). Ovi Suite contacts sync ok with the N97 but the Contacts aren't syncing wiith Outlook XP (Calendar and Notes sync ok). Is therer a way to keep all three in sync automatically?

Problems connecting to sync my N8 with ovi suite

I really need urgent help on this , I installed the ovi suite 3.0 and when I try to sync my phone it tells me to change the USB mode to Nokia Ovi suite and I do it , actually it also selects automatically but I hit again sync and it gives me again the message that I need to select the USB Nokia ovi suite .
What can be wrong ? Do I need to re install the ovi suite , do something to my N8 settings , please help , I really need to sync my info.

Ia ma lso having the same problem. I have tried posting in another thread quite a while ago about this and I have also emailed Nokia about this but I have still not had a solution. Even the most recent update hasn't helped.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Ovi Suite and ALL Nokia products on my computer but this hasn't helped.

Problem to update my NOKIA E71 with Ovi Suite

Hi everybody,
Since this morning i've tried to update the software of my Nokia E71 with Nokia Ovi Suite.
So first i save my old things (pictures, messages, ....) and then when i want to start the update i get ALWAYS this message:

Even if my E71 is connected with my computer by USB !!!

Hi,
I guess the installation of Ovi Suite is corrupted, please follow the steps provided below to assist you in this regard
Step 1
- Go to Progam and Features in Control Panel
- Click Ovi Suite
- Click Repair.
Once repair is completed then please restart computer and check.
If Step 1 didnt work, then try the below step
Step2
-Go to Progam and Features in Control Panel
- Click Ovi Suite
- Click Uninstall
Also uninstall the following f
- Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
- PC connectivity Solution
Then right click my computer, click manage.
- Device Manager-Ports- If you find anything by name Nokia please unistall ( Dont remove anything else)
Then reinstall windows Installer from the link provided below

- Then restart computer.
- Download and install Ovi Suite
- Restart Computer again
- Connect the device, dont open Ovi Suite and wait for all the driver to be loaded by windows.

Is there any way to transport my pictures from my computer to my Nokia x2 with Nokia Ovi Suite?

In OVI Suite..Tools-->Options-->Photos-->Click on Add New Folder and browse for the folder on your PC where these pictures are stored...(If this folder is already displayed in the BOX.. no need to do the above..).. You should be able to see all the pictures in the OVI Suite when you select Photos Icon..
Connect the Phone to PC ..and when you see the Phone set-up ..Drag-and-Drop these pictures onto the Phone Icon in the Bottom - Left window of the OVI Suite..

How to use Nokia N8 with PC Suite 7.1.30.9 (appare...

The N8 is supposed to be used with OVI Suite, but if possible, I'd also like to be able to use it with PC Suite. The latest version of PC Suite won't allow this (not compatible) but an older version seems to accept the N8.
I saw in a discussion at Nokia Beta Labs that I can also install a late version of PC Suite. It's 32.2 megs in size.
(The newer versions of PC Suite install on my computer, but tell me to use OVI Suite for my N8.)
With the version I downloaded from hotshare installed, PC Suite recognized my N8. It also displayed a message saying PC Suite must be updated to support new features, and told me to click on "help" and then the update link. I did that, and the next message was "Do you want to install PC Suite on your mobile phone (N8-00)?" At this point I hesitated.
Has anyone done this, and will doing so allow PC Suite to work better with the N8? What are the new features that the update is trying to support? If they're not something I need, maybe I'll just stop where I am.
Any advice?

Nokia 5230 Cannot Sync with Ovi Suite

Every time I connect my phone to my computer to sync up with Ovi Suite and click on sync, it doesn't sync and a message pops up to tell me to reconnect or fix the Bluetooth. This has been happening to me ever since I got the phone 3 months ago and only once have I properly synced up my phone with my music (which now doesn't work either and doesn't pick up on the files on my memory card that I added through syncing with Ovi Suite, and every time I connect with the setting of mass storage it tells me I don't have enough room or shows the files ) I would like to restore it to the original factory settings but I have some important files on my phone that I would like to back up before I do that.

I have found the root cause for the crash of Nokia Suite 3.2.100 while synchronizing N9 calendar with Outlook
Basically Outlook synchronization with N9 is working for contacts, gallery, messages, notes.
I had the situation that calendar synchronization ended in crash of the Nokia Suite. The root cause was that after first synchronization some time ago a new calendar PC-SYNC was created on the N9. Due to whatever reason this calendar caused a conflict during the synchronization and the Nokia Suite crashed.
I have deleted this calendar on the N9 and tried to synchronize the Original N9 calendar again..... and it worked.... Now again there is a new PC-SYNC available on the N9 but it doesn't cause problems anymore... Synced N9 calendar with Outlook several times and the crash didn't reoccur....
Looks like the issue is solved now :-)

I go to the option in (Menu/Settings/Connectivity/Data transfer/Sync/), then edit profile.
But don't know how to define the database of contacts group.

Hi you can sync groups with Ovi suite on your computer, you can also edit them by right clicking a contact and adding to group !

Downgrading the iOS is not supported. If you are using Safari this try clearing its cache via Settings > Safari.
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
