Help needed urgently! Accidentally deleted Excel sheet, then saved

The back-story: I was working with a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel 2007, and I had it saved as a 97-03 document (Compatibility Mode). When I saved it, it said "minor loss of fidelity" and that some cell styles would need to be changed. It has been saying this every time I save the document for quite a file. I always just say "OK." This time, I decided I should try to figure out which cells it is referring to. It said there were 11 such cells, but didn't bother to tell me which ones. So I saved a second copy of the file, as "filename exp.xls," to experiment. Only, here's the problem: When I saved this second copy, it gave me the "loss of fidelity" warning, and I clicked Cancel, not realizing this would prevent the second copy from saving. Now, I deleted one of the sheets in my workbook, and I saved the file. Turned out that sheet was the one with the errors, because it didn't give me the warning that time. But it also turned out that the sheet I had deleted (which contained a lot of information!) was now gone, because the back-up hadn't saved as I had intended it to.
The process: I did a System Restore to about six hours ago, to before I had made this deadly mistake, hoping it would revert my workbook and resolve the problem. Unfortunately, it looks like System Restore (although it was successful) doesn't revert any of your files to their older versions.
The question: Is there any way I can get this sheet back? I have backed up onto a flash drive everything that I have modified on my computer between the System Restore time and now. I am willing to do anything it takes to get the old version of my workbook back. There must be some back-up copy that MS Office has saved, in the cache or whatnot ... Is there any hope for me to revive all my hard work?
I now know that in the future I will be even more extra careful to back up all my documents as frequently as possible ... but for now, I just want this one back! please help ...

Unfortunately, I was never able to recover the document. It appears that any sheet you delete in Excel is permanently gone. The only solution is to make sure you back-up your files constantly, using a service like Mozy or Dropbox or Carbonite, or manually ... so that you have it saved somewhere else when you lose your work. =\

HELP! I Accidentally deleted the iTunes folder in the My Music folder so I lost the two files

iTunes Music Library.xml
As I understand it, these files contain all the play counts, ratings, etc. and I've spent weeks getting this info the way I want it and don't want to lose it.
I have all my mp3 files on my desktop computer HD under a seperate directories, so I'm not worried about loosig origninal music files. I don't have iTunes copying the files when I add them to the library and I do have "Keep iTunes Music folder organized" checked. I have not relocated any of the original music files.
I have not auto synced my iPod, and I can open the iPod in iTunes and all my songs, with play counts, ratings, etc. are there. I just want to get the playlists, play counts. ratings, catagories, etc. back to my PC.
Is there any way to get the playlists, play counts. ratings, catagories, etc. from the data on the iPod and recreate the .itl & .xml files on my PC? I see there are many files on the iPod two of which look promising "iTunesDB" & "iTunesPlaylists".
Can someone please tell my how to recreate just the .itl & .xml files by using the info on the iPod itself? Again, I have not relocated or lost any of the original music files, I just want to get the playlists, play counts. ratings, catagories, etc. back that are stored in the .itl file.
I really don't want to have a software utility copy the info over as then I will have two copies of my music files and I've spent a lot of time organizing and naming the mp3 files just the way I want (not the way iTunes wants).
I've read many posts and it seems many have screwed up recovery by trying things without clear direction.

Try some of the more robust recovery/trnsfer programs. Several can recover the playlists, and metadata of the songs on the iPod. Do some reading on the respective websites.
These links will give you several methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are many various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search for them if the links below leave you wanting…

After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation.
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?

Reinstall OS X.
Reinstall Snow Leopard without erasing the drive
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

my requirement is to upload the data from excel sheet but that excel sheet have mutiple tabs and all individual tab have mutiple records inside. I need to open the excel sheet from selection screen and select dynamically any tab and i need to put all the records into internal table of that paricular tab.
Please suggest how it can be done.

it depends on which event do you call the FM. If you call in INITIALIZATION (or LOAD-OF-PROGRAM) than the Excel sheet will be uploaded before the selection screen appears at all. The problem with the above FM is that it will upload the actual tabstrip of the sheet, probably not what you want (and definetly no multiple ways). To upload data form Excel from multiple tabs, you need to code it on your own with the help of OLE commands.

Had you never backed up the phone before? When you saw the iTunes logo and cable, the device was in recovery mode. The data was already lost. The only way to recover from that is to restore the device, which will delete all of your data. You will only be able to restore to your last backup, whenever that was. Sorry this happened, but this highlights the importance of doing regular backups. The backup is the only protection you have against a problem like this.

/var is a hidden folder, so you mustn't remove the folder.
The only solution is to reinstall OS X. If you have OS X Lion or Mountain Lion, use OS X Recovery > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
Hold Command and R keys while your MacBook is starting and reinstall OS X. You won't lose anything. If you have a backup, you can restore it after starting in OS X Recovery instead of reinstalling Mac OS X, so you will save a lot of time

Error -1 may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues, and restore your device on a different known-good computer. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

Some J2ME midlets doubts!! help needed urgently!!!

I am currently working in a company where it does wireless technology like WAP and I am assigned a task of creating a screensaver midlet. I have some doubts on the midlets.
1) How do i use a midlet suites? From what I heard from my colleagues & friends, a servlet is needed for midlets to interact with one another. is it true?
2) How do I get the startin midlet to take note the phone is idling so that the screen saver midlet can be called?

indicates that MIDlet suites are isolated (on purpose) from each other, so you can't write over another one's address space.
Also, I believe (at least on cell phones) that you have to specifically enter the Java Apps mode; unless you do the app won't execute. If you are in Java apps mode and a call comes in, the cell's OS puts the Java app currently executing on "Pause" mode and switches back to phone mode.
Not sure if you will be able to have a Java app do that automatically.
BTW why do you need a screensaver on an LCD display? Is it really intended to show an advertisement?
Download and real all the docs you can from Sun, once you get over the generic Java deficiencies MIDlet's aren't that hard.

Help needed with referencing single Excel cells and formatting resulting text

In InDesign CS5 I am putting together a 20pp catalogue of about 200 products. The plan is to have the product information, SKU code, quantity etc fixed, but have the prices (there are two i.e. pack price and individual price) being linked to an Excel spreadsheet. This is so that the prices can be updated in the Excel file and the InDesign file will pull the new prices through. In case you are wondering why I don't pull the whole set of information through, this is because there are a lot of copywriting changes done to the information once it's in InDesign - it's only going to be the prices that will be updated.
I am planning on having two single cell tables in their own text frame, duly formatted with cell style, table style and paragraph style for the two price variables. This I am then going to have to repeat 200 times making sure I link to the next row down in Excel. This is going to be a hideous task but I see know way of modifying the cell in InDesign to point it to the next row in Excel. That's my first problem.
My second problem is this. In the Excel sheet, the prices are formatted as UK currency and are therefore like this...

£0.40
£1.43
£9.99
£0.99
£0.09
What I will require is once I import that data (and refresh the data via a newly saved Excel file) is that the prices end up like this...
£2.00
40p
£1.43
£9.99
99p
9p
So if the value is lower than £1.00 it needs a trailing 'p' added and the leading zero and '£' sign stripped off. If the value is lower than £0.10 it also needs the zero after the decimal point stripping off.
Then formatting wise, the '£' sign needs to be superscripted and the same for the 'p'. This I am assuming could be done via GREP?
In summary, can anyone help with the first task of referecing the Excel cells on a cell by cell basis, given that it is the same cell column each time, but the next row down, and also point me in the right direction of the price formattting issues.
Any help will be gratefully received.

Create on line with the formatting.
Export as InDesign tagged text (TXT)
Read out these tags
In Excel exists a function to connect text from several cells and predfined text, there connect the content from cells with the paragraph styling tags. Do it in a seperate sheet. (Better would be to use a database like Access, there you can link your Excel sheet).
Export this sheet as txt file
Place this sheet as tagged text (there is an option in one of the sialog boxes).
In preferences < file handling you can specify that Tablecalculation Sheets and text is not embedded but linked, turn it on.

You are correct ... in both cases. You can wire a numeric constant to specify the sheet you would like to delete. When using this you may want to be careful because Excel appears to index from the left most sheet and not necessarily the sheet number (ie if sheet 4 is left of sheet 1, 2, and 3 and your index is 1, Excel will delete sheet 4) Also, I missed closing the workbooks reference in my example code. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. To answer your question, if you expand the first first property node in the code above to include the display alerts property you can wire in a False constant. This should disable the alerts so that you no longer get the dialogue box asking if you are sure you want to delete. (Note: you may wish to reset this before closing the program because this tells Excel to never ask if you want to save anything ever again). I hope this helps!

Now since the cycle is being repeated i.e 7 appears again�so the period is 4 coz there are 4 diff nos. i.e 7,6,9,0�..

I wrote the code so that it catches any cycle (not only the "big" one).
Otherwise it will enter infinite loop...
The time complexity is O(N*logN): it can do at most N iterations (here N is your 'm'), and in each iteration there can be O(log N) comparisons (since I maintain TreeSet).
Interesting issue: is it possible to supply such (x0, a, b, m) tuple such that all possible values from 0 to m-1 will be output? I think no :)

I come across scenario while discussiion with client that they require rebate with collection. Details of the requirement are given below:
1. SAP rebates run on billed values & set the accrual in rebate agreement on the rate what we have specified in the rebate agreement. Requirement is that, If i have billed on 1000$ & my accrual value is 100$ with the rate of 10%. If i collected 800$ instead of 1000$, then i need to pay the accrual on the basis of 800$ not on the basis of 1000$. It means i have to adjust accrual amount on the basis of 800$. Conclusion is that i have to pay not 100$ accrual instead less then 100$ on the basis of 800$ which i collected.
2. In month 1 have billed on 5000$, my accrual amount is 500$ with rate of 10%. In the 2nd month i have to bill 1000$ and i have given an discount of 500$, it means my billed value is 500$ and my accrual amount is 50$@10%. In month 3 again i billed 500$ and my accrual amount is 50$@10%.
Requirement is that, when i am going to pay the accrual to client, i should pay correct accrual for which he is entitled for. Means i should pay 100$ accrual not 600$ because i have already given an discount of 500$. Discount which i have given already of 500$ should need to be offest with the first month accrual of 500$. So remaning accrual is 100$.
Great if somebody can help me out for the solutioning of the above requirements.

Let me put my questions again.
This requirement is nothing to do with Payment procedure in the agreement type.
1. In any month if i billed 1000$, so my account receivable would be 1000$. My rebate for that month is 100$ at the rate of 10%. During customer receipt if i collected against my invoice 900$ instead of 1000$, my accrual needs to be corrected 90$ instead of 100$.
I know this can not be fullfilled by standard SAP, by any thoughts on this welcomed.
2. I know Rebate can be settled partially or full settlement by payment method( by cheque, bank transfer, or by credit memo) we have configure in rebate agreement type. But here requirement is totally different.
Here, i need to pay the Rebate as a Discount instead of by cheque or by credit memo. While doing the partial or full settlement system will take into account collected accrual up to that day & apply as a discount to the final bill.
Scenario is like that sometimes customer asked to give us the discount on bill for whatever they accrued so far.
This is again cannot solved by standard SAP, but any thought by any body welcome. We have already thought that we need to enhance the solution.

I accidentally deleted the Automator application. I run a Mac 10.4.11 (just haven't needed to update...everything works fine as it is), and recently found I needed the Automator in order to record macros using the Word program on my Mac. How can I replace the Automator application itself?
