Help needing resetting almost everything

I am really mac impaired, but a whiz with the MS stuff. Sorry to offend
Anyway, my friend's son obtained an Imac G3 with OS9 from Brownsville Area High School that is being torn down. People went through the school and were told to take what they wanted so he grabbed an Imac.
The issue is that the computer is set as a workstation and I would like to access the control areas and set it back to being a regular stand alone system. I am able to access the internet through ethernet connection to my router, but a can't delete programs like Workstation, I can't reset Netscape configuration files, and I can't access any control functions. I can't even delete a desktop document.
This computer was set up good for use in a high school!
Can anyone point me to some educational materials? Give me a reset command? How about a way to get around the password requirement for the program called Foolproof?

It sounds like your iMac may have a firmware password set. If you boot into open firmware, holding down the "option + control + o + f" keys, and are asked for a password, its protected. If it is, there's a work around. Post back with your model and RAM info, and the results of your open firmware test.

Help needed with almost everything touch related
Hi,
bought my touch 8gb yesterday and havent been able to get anything working as of yet.
I will start with the Wi-fi problems first
1) I can only find one wi-fi network, my own O2 wireless box at home, but cant find any unsecure networks to connect to. Where are these 75000 wi-fi hotspots we are supposed to be able to use. I am in manchester so i thought there would be a few around.
2) when i try and connect to my wireless box at home it asks me for a password, which i enter, and i am promptly told "unable to join network ". the password i have entered is the WEP key that is on my box and is also the password i use to access it wirlessly from my computer. So i tried to use the password for the administrator log on instead, and that didnt work. ANY IDEAS, yes i am simple and need baby instructions
Second problem
My phone is using software version 1.1.2
i am told that i can update to version 1.1.3 which is a 165.5mb download.
i accept the update and it downloads through itunes. When i watchthe screen it downloads all the way to 165.5mb and then holds for a few second, then comes back with an error (something like error-3259). It happens everytime i try to download it
now i really want all of the cool feature on the January update such as GPS and stock charts, so i know i have to get the 1.1.3 upgrade somehow. They are the main reason i got the touch.
Third problem
I have gone onto itunes and downloaded a podcast (its a video instruction on golf) but when i downloaded them all it says "Golf tip #1 is unable to play on your ipod". Why can i download it from itunes if it doesnt work on bleeding ipods.
Also i have loads of videos i would like to put onto my touch but when i try to add file it loads the file but then nothing happens.

1. WiFi networks have a range of about 40-50metres. The Cloud in the UK offers 7,500 hotspots but even so in 50m radius circles that isn't much coverage. In a town you'll find other hotspots i.e. T-Mobile at Starbucks etc.
You can sign up an iPod touch's MAC address with The Cloud for unlimited access for £3.99 (versus £6.99 for their normal package) or you can get it free if you're in McDonalds etc. I had a coffee in McD's earlier and found it worked well. At the moment I just stick to my home access and whatever other free places I can find. If I lived/worked near a great concentration of hotspots I'd probably take up The Cloud's offer.
2. If you're using a WEP hex key (10 or 26 chars) put a hash in front of it. If you're using a WEP password ensure it's 5 chars for 40bit or 13 chars for 128bit encryption. Better still convert your network to WPA, there are no password issues like that. WEP can be cracked in a couple of minutes by anyone who has downloaded the right software, WPA offers much better protection.
3. Not sure about the -3259 error. Try again in a little while.
4. Right click on the podcast and choose "Convert Selection for iPhone/iPod".

Z30 Behaving Badly - needs resets almost daily
I got my Z30 in April, and for the first few months, it was a solid device. For the past few months, I've been having the following problems with increasing frequency: - sometimes I cannot start the phone app -- even when my phone is ringing, it won't let me swipe left to answer - the BlackBerry Hub opens, but it won't let me scroll up or down, or open any messages - I can select individual message sources, ie. specific email accounts, text messages, or BBM, but again, no scrolling, or opening When the device begins misbehaving, I go to the device monitor to see system resource usage, and everything seems fine (no CPU/RAM/storage shortages). I have not installed any apps since April/May, and I applied the 10.2.1.2977 patch fairly soon after it came out. Do I need to reset my device? Or am I experiencing known bugs? Thanks,Dirk
I've never been a big fan of OS 10.2.1.2977.....too many problems. I recommend updating to a newer version of OS. Even if Bell hasn't released a newer one, you can update using the instructions in the following thread: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Upgrading-OS10-devices-using-Autoloader/td-p/2466747 Give that a shot and report back with your results.

Please help me with dat! After putting my password in in the apple store the page just goes blank. tried to reboot the computer and all other kinds of things! i got enough money on my account to purchase it as well. got no idea why it doesn't work properly, if you got a solution please help me with it!
For some forum members here it helped to delete GarageBand 10.0 from the Applications folder and to install it again. Then Try to download the additional content again.

I reformatted my computer and am now running into trouble setting up the Java path.
I downloaded Java version 1.5.0_06, and set up the paths as to how they should be set up according to several websites.
I typed in java -version at the cmd prompt and it gave me information about the version of Java I was running etc.
However I can't compile or run any java programs from the CMD prompt.
What are the likely causes for this?I cannot even compile files through the CMD prompt,
I'm using Jcreator to compile.So you've tried both compiling with JCreator and at the prompt? I don't know anything about JCreator, but those things usually have a place where you tell it your path to your java installation. Have you done that?
If it's in your path (when you type "set" or whatever the DOS command is to do that and get your path on the screen you see your JDK's bin directory) and you've visited that directory, and you type "javac" and it says:

java.lang.noclassdeffounderror: Case/javaWell, this is a different issue. You don't say "java Case.java" you say "Java Case". Assuming there is a file in the current directory called "Case.class" that is not part of some package.

I need help with resetting my ichat. When i try to login now it wont let me... it says "AOL Instant Messenger password" and then "iChat can't log in to ... because your login ID or password is incorrect. How do I reset this if I cant log in? When I try to press online the same thing pops up and I have no way of logging in or asking for help.

iChat (it would help to know which version) can accept Apple IDs as valid AIM Screen Names.
However if you have iChat 5 or earlier you cannot use ones ending in @me.com or @icloud.com issued by iCloud. (they can be used in iChat 6 or Messages as these versions make a double login to AIM and Apple to allow the use of the password).
In addition if you are using an Apple ID for an AIM Screen Name the password still needs to keep to the 16 character limit that AIM has.
AN @mac.com name can be used on any version of iChat (Until the 30th June 2014)
As it does not need a double check with Apple you can use it to log in to the AIM Web pages
Login here with an AIM Name registered at AIM or and @mac.com name and see if you get any suspended account messages.
Sometimes account can be suspended. Usually because something has triggered the "Unusual Activity" item.
About a year ago many @mac.com users that travelled out of their own country found themselves suspended when they got home.
If the Name checks out of if an Apple ID the password in known to be 16 characters or Less then do this:-
In Lion upwards open a Finder Window and use the Go Menu whilst holding down the ALT key.
Select the Library that appears in the menu list.
Navigate to Preferences.
(If you have version earlier than Lion the just navigate to ~/Library/Preferences (that's the Library in you Home - Little House icon - folder)
Fnd com.apple.ichat.aim.plist (even if you are using Messages)
Drag the file to the Trash and Restart the app.

IPhone 4 reset itself, photos lost -URGENT HELP NEEDED

Urgent help needed!!
Tonight I was taking extremely important photos throughout an event on my iPhone 4, however, my iPhone 4 ran out of battery once I was near a charger I plugged it in and for some reason my iPhone had reset itself. Back up icloud options were from yesterday, but the photos that I was taking at the event are needed urgently. Is there any way possible I can recover the photos that were taken?

I cannot install the latest version of itunes as I have old versions of bonjour and quicktime. I can't remove these programs either. Help please as I have tried almost everything I have found so far on the the web.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour and QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
Flash player only works in administrator account. In other accounts safari can't play flash videos (youtube or others) while firefox can. OSX 10.5.8 safari 5.0.5 / latest flash player. I have tried almost everything. Reinstall safari and flash player, repair permissions.... Any help?
Repair permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the menu bar, quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
If that didn't help, install the v10.5.8 combo update.

Enable iMessage and FaceTime while connected to another Wi-Fi network in a different location.
