  • My ipod 5th gen has been acting up. Its been shutting off at random times and appears to be glitching out. The screen would go different colors and when it would turn back on my recent texts and stuff would be deleted.

My iPod 5th gen has been doing this for awhile, though it progressively got better over time, it still happens occasionally like when I'm out running. My iPod is never able to connect strongly to any WiFi network. All the WiFi networks keep disappearing and then coming back, and this is infuriating because it wont let me sign in to iTunes or IMessage at all or update my iPod easily. My date and time keeps getting off track and every time i set it back to normal it just gets messed up again. Now it wont let me connect to iTunes and receive push notifications. I tried logging out o my Apple ID on my phone but now it wont let me sign back in. WHAT IS GOING ON HELP PLEASE!?!?!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Netgear Genie on Mac to enable AirPrint printing from iPad3

I have installed the latest version of Netgear Genie on my Mac and am able to print to my wired network printer but only from the Photos application.
Printing from email or any of the iworks applications doesn't work.  The job is sent without errors on the iPad but nothing prints.
So at this point I can only print photos.
Is there any reason why this shouldn't work with other document types?
Thanks in advance for your help.

That is probably best answered by Netgear. According to this AirPrint 101 page:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
"You also need an AirPrint-enabled printer listed in this article. Printers not listed in this article are not supported by AirPrint."

  • Hi, my iPod (5th gen) has stopped appearing in iTunes...

Hi, my iPod (5th gen) has stopped appearing in iTunes when I plug it in, but is still visible on the desktop. Please help!

Are you running the latest version of iTunes (10.7)?  Maybe try resetting the iPod with it still plugged into your Mac. To do this, press and hold both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
It might even help to do a low level reformat of the iPod's Hard Drive using Disk Utility.  See this article for instructions.

  • Netgear genie won't open on Mac mini.

I can no longer get netgear genie to open on my Mac mini. It'll install and say it installed correctly but when opening it it'll say it can't open on this type of Mac. A gives? It used to work. And talking to their support is pointless. I made my points insanely simple and they still had no grasp of what I was asking. I'm trying to enable the AirPrint from my iPhone/iPad to a printer hooked to my Mac mini. Any thoughts?

If your computer has got an Intel Core Duo processor, the only thing I understand is that the program only supports 64-bit processors, so you can't use that program. Also, you can use Printopia to print with AirPrint

Brand new Nano 7th gen has no sound. I've tried 3 different headphones, turned volume up, watched the bar indicate the song is on play, cannot find a mute switch (or indicator on screen) and can't understand why I can't hear music. Are the headphones plugged all the way in? Does the FM radio work?

  • My ipod nano 5th gen has blank screen

Hi, my ipod nano 5th gen has a blank screen, will not switch on, and not recognised by computer. Have tried holding menu and central button but still dead. Any suggestions please.

    Hello Emilyyandrews,
    To fix try this:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/nano5gen/
This has the best chance of fixing your issue if its not hardware related. If it does not fix it then you may want to consider setting the ipod up for service:
    https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do
Or you can call Apple and have them set it up for you. Have your serial number ready.

  • My ipod nano 6th gen has white screen

please help my ipod nano 6th gen has white screen and wont go away, ive put into disk mode (dfu) and restored on itunes and still no resolution....ive tried hard reseting and still nothing

It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damaged part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

  • I950 Overclock Help (OC Genie Help)

I have the i7 950. OC Genie automatically overclocks it to 3.76GHz --- want to achive the holy grail of OC i950 to 4GHz. Obviously, I am totally new to OC, and first time posting on any forum - tried inserting image, but the insert image didn't work. The more research I do, the more confused I get. Reading the OC guide that came with the XPower Big Bang helped a little, but every thing I do is adding to the frustration. Specs are below for those who would like to
Big Bang XPower Motherboard BIOS ver. 1.4
    i7 950
    Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600 XMP 12 gig (2gigx6 sticks)
    Corsair Power Supply - AX850
Sapphire AMD 6950 Video Card (latest drivers installed)
    Cooler Master V6 GT Cooler
Crucial SATA III Drive plugged into Marvell SATA 3 port.
Have N-O-T touched any settings except for shutting down computer and pressing the OC button. Restarted and saved the BIOS profile.
OC Genie has the settings at 188 bus speed x20 multiplier. Prime95 passes fine for over 6 hours on full blend tests with temps in the lower 70s. ([email protected], [email protected], [email protected]) -- again all default OC Genie settings --
Here is what I tried so far with limited success..... I tried changing the speed to 190, just 2 more than 188, but the PRIME would give errors. I tried upping the multiplier to 22 after bringing the base clock down to 188, but still not stable under Prime95. It would run full blend tests for 3.5hrs straight and then give error on the results.
Any thoughts, suggestions or ideas on what I need to do to hit 4GHz+ on this wonderful motherboard?

Amethos. I am using some of your template with my settings. I have found that 4.2GHz is running way too hot for comfort when using Prime95, so I have toned it down just a tad bit and the temps are comfortable. Not too high, but higher than normal as expected. So here are my settings.
*** Back-up BIOS before making any changes. The M-Flash option in BIOS will walk you through on backing up BIOS to a USB stick. Nice and simple.
This is my template for 4.12GHz (i7 950 and Big Bang XPower Motherboard)
The only changes I did was in the Cell menu.
    - CPU features: I enabled all CPU power save features in the BIOS except "Turbo Boost", and Over Speed Protection which is turned off.
    - CPU base frequency [196]
    - OC Stepping disabled
    - CPU ratio [21]
    OC Genie Disabled
    Base clock button disabled
    -DRAM Linked
    - Advanced DRAM 9,9,9,24. (Auto Settings. I tried copying the XMP memory settings manually, in memory "Link" mode, but that caused booting issues 3 out of 10 attempts)
    - RAM Volt 1.65
    - XMP Disabled
    - Mem Ratio [4]
    - Uncore Auto
    - QPi Full speed
    - QPI frequency Auto
    - Additional DDR Info:
Memory used: Newegg Item # N82E16820104118
    Memory Type - DDR3
    Memory Size -12288 MBytes
    Channels -Triple
    Memory Frequency -784.1 MHz (2:8)
    CAS# latency (CL) - 9.0
    RAS# to CAS# delay (tRCD) - 9
    RAS# Precharge (tRP) - 9
    Cycle Time (tRAS) -24
Row Refresh Cycle Time (tRFC) -88
    Command Rate (CR) -2T
    Uncore Frequency - 3136.3 MHz
    - CPU VDroop control Low VDroop
    - CPU Volt [1.325] (* Under Low VDroop, I noticed that this setting is adjusted automatically according to power draw requirements of the CPU)
    - QPI VDroop control control Low VDroop
    - QPI Volt [1.22] (* Same note as above)
Spread spectrum Enabled (* Didn't notice any difference with it on or off, so I left it on)
    ** Additional Info ***
    - Under Green Power, all available functions are enabled or on auto for saving as much power as possible. (I wouldn't want this thing running full blast 24/7 with power save features turned off)
    - Under Hardware monitor, I went with the CPU temperature fan target of 70 degrees and the minimum speed of 62.5%. I under volt the fans, but they started making mechanical noises, so they are all 100% voltage. (Motherboard gives full voltage to the fans) This setting gave me a decent balance between acceptable fan noise and CPU temperature.
Turned OFF the following in the BIOS:
    - Infinity 2.5TB
    - USB3 controller
    * All drives are on AHCI. I was plugging things in and out including the optical drives while system was up and running. No issues.
The rest of the settings are unchanged.
Passed Prime95 on full blend torture test for 6+hours straight with temps in the upper 70s. Don't be afraid if you have your temps a bit higher like in the 80s. CPU can tolerate that just fine. But just don't let it go all the way up in the 90s. That would make it too hot in the kitchen, so back off right away. Stop Prime95, ensure that the heatsink is attached properly. Don't do over tightening the screws on the heatsink like a mad man. If the screws don't spin, then don't force them. Chances are the screws can not be tightened any further. Go into BIOS and reduce CPU voltage, multiplier, and base frequency. Start again. Don't go crazy with Prime95. A good bet is no one is ever going to use their CPU to the extreme full extent as Prime95 does during those torture tests, so I think 6+ hours of testing is fine.
    ***Final Note ***
Someone out there had the same setup as mine and their OC Genie was giving them 3.3GHz while mine was giving me 3.76GHz.
All the information provided will NOT be a substitute for plain old common sense. Remember, "No two identical pieces of hardware will behave the same way. All settings will be slightly different on all the systems." Always ask questions and pick the brains of people who know what they are doing. Most people will be more than happy to help you. As they have done here. Just ask nicely.
