HELP!!! New Comp issues

My old computer recently died, can't even turn it on. So I bought a brand spanking new Dell Inspiron, super excited about it till I tried to sync my iTouch 2nd gen. It says that it has to delete all the data I have on my touch and put it on new. Not really a huge issue for my music, but it is for this: I have several apps that have data (like a bird life list, a recipe program, etc) that I would really rather not have to totally reenter the data on....it would take an insane amount of time. Is there a way to get the data from my touch onto my comp and not have the computer and itunes over ride??? Any help would be amazing thanks!!!

A manual backup is what you need to do:
Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.

Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.

Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

This is really unfortunate. I'm sorry that nothing works. I was going to mention holding down the power button and doing a force shutdown but you already did that. You might need to take it into the Apple store. I don't know if booting into safe mode would help. You would have to turn off the machine again, hit the start button and hold down the shift key after you hear the tone, but normally you would let go of the shift key when you see the apple logo and spining wheel. Maybe by holding down the shift key after you here the tone will cause the screen to come back on? The other option is to start up from the 'install disk' if your machine came with one. You would insert the disk, then shut down the computer, and hold down the C key right after hitting the start button.

HELP!! Moved iTunes music to new comp, but playlists are GONE!!!

Ok, I've posted a couple times now, gotten no helpful responses as of yet, so here goes another attempt:
I just got a new computer. My iTunes music was stored on an external harddrive. I was able to get the music to show up in the iTunes library on the new computer, but
1.) All the songs are checked. I had a specific 900(or so) out of my 10,000 songs selected, for ease of syncing my 4GB iPod Nano. I don't want to have to go through every single song to uncheck the ones that were unchecked before. What can I do?
2.) I have dozens of playlists, some hundreds of songs long. Now, in the new iTunes on the new comp, the playlists are GONE. How can I restore them(other than putting them together one song at a time)?
3.) Some of the album artwork is gone. Some isn't. What gives? How can I restore the missing artwork?
4.) How can I make sure that new iTunes purchases are stored on the external harddrive, not the new comp's harddrive?
That's it for now. Someone PLEASE help, this is a major pain....

You need that iTunesLibrary.itl file from your old PC.
That's the way iTunes was designed, the way it works, and if you want your play lists and checkmarks back, you need to get it back.

If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using a lot of the utilities your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

You are allowed to have two machines with activated installations, so if you only had one installation, you still have the option to install on a second without doing anything further than that. If you originally downloaded the purchase thru Adobe then you might find a download link available in your Adobe account online. How do I cancle an ipod account on one computer and set it up on a new comp

OK so when my mother first got her ipod she didnt have a computer so she had to autorize her ipod on my brother comp, but since then I purchased a computer for her, I have my own ipod touch authorized to this new comp. Every time I try to sync songs from the new comp to her ipod it doesnt work right because I keep getting my songs synced to her ipod.
I figure that (a. I need to take her ipod off of my brothers computer. (b.reauthorize her ipod to the new computer. And (c. creat an entire new library just for her ipod and songs. How do I go about this?

iPods don't have accounts nor are they authorised. There are a couple of ways to create a new library. It's possible to have multiple libraries in a single Windows user account. To create or access a second (or more) library, hold down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to the other Library.
Note: You can only have one Library open at a time and iTunes will default to the last library opened if you don't use the keyboard command to choose one. The new library will be empty until you add content to it. To get back to your original library you need to close iTunes and open it again while holding down the option/shift key, this time choose to open an existing library and navigate to its location. Multiple libraries can prove tricky when using iPods, if you don't use the keyboard command you can risk syncing to the wrong library: Using multiple iTunes libraries -Windows
Another option is to create a separate Windows User account for each person on your PC or Mac. Different user accounts by definition would give you completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one. The iPod can be set to update however the owner chooses, sync all, manual or sync specific playlists

Opening a form in a new window issue

Hi..
I have this requirement where I have this page(say XYZPG.xml) which contains a table which is auto populated based on a particular setWhereClause and all this happens in the processRequest as the page loads.
This page opens on clicking a button in a previous page from where all the parameters for the setWhereClause is sent using fireAction.
Each Row in the results table in XYZPG has a "detail" button which opens another page in a new window using _blank in the Target Frame.
The issue is that when Iam clicking the "detail" button,the new form opens in the new window and after closing the form that opened in the new window when I start to perform any action in XYZPG a null pointer is encountered in the processRequest while trying to fetch the setWhereClause parameters.
Please help in this issue.Its urgent.

That's because when you close the child window, control returns back to parent form's processRequest. Which version of EBS you are working on? OAF has in-built popup windows feature supported on latest EBS versions which is very useful on many occasions as it has good features like popup closing automatically when a submit button is clicked etc. Check JDev user guide and see if you can use popup windows for your project. If not, you have to capture the event in processRequest and perform required actions again.

AE CC Pre-Comp Issue

Please review the screen shots. As you can see the Comp preview in After Effects looks quite a bit different than what Media Encoder and Premiere Pro is displaying.
This seems to be related to pre-comping because if I pre-comp the layers in AE I get the same mis-alignment... Clealy I want to the alignment to stay intact.
Here is what it looks like in After Effects:
Side by side of After Effects and the preview of Media Encoder. Notice how the You are watching right edge does not align with the bottom box right edge in Media Encoder?
And finally how it appears when importing the After Effects project into Premiere Pro. Same issue as Media Encoder.
While the most obvious issue is the alignment of the boxes, there is also an issue with the over all size. The AE project was aligned striktly to Safe Margins, but that alignment is lost in Premiere.
The issue seems to be a pre-comp issue in AE becuase I can produce the same result if I pre-comp all the layers in the AE project.
I'd like to attach the AE project, but cannot seem to find a way to do this. If this is possible, please let me know how.

If you are going tob e upgrading to 10.7 you should be able to just upgrade, and then install future updates of Firefox with no problem.

Transfering aperture library via vault to new comp

I apologize in advance if my question already have been answered in another thread. But I couldn't find any threads matching my problems.
I recently bought the new iMac after my old 24" could not handle the pressure anymore. I wanted to move my aperture library from the old to the new. And ofcourse I wanted all info (adjustment changes and so on) to come with in the move. After reading a few threads on the subject I created a "Vault" that I later opened up in the new comp. At a fist glance everything looks great in aperture but when opening up a picture to make adjustments it says "image offline".
On my old comp I can see (where my pics are stored) two aperture files:
Aperture Library
Aperture Library_original
…so far so good.
But then that are tons (well, many) folders named like my projects in aperture. And not folders within the aperture library file but stand alone…if that makes any sense.
What am I doing wrong? I get all the pics over to my new comp with the help of Vault but can't edit any of my pics from a few months back (when for some reason aperture started to create folders outside the library file)
On my new iMac i have 2 files
Aperture Library
Aperture Library_old
...so no folders got transfered

It looks like your Aperture library were a referenced library. When you imported your image files you did not import the originals into the Aperture library, but stored them in folders outside the library. That are folders named like your projects that you are seeing. When Aperture needs to access the originals to render edited versions, it will reference the image files in those folders, see this section in the Aperture 3 User Manual: Aperture 3 User Manual: Working with Referenced Images
When you create a vault, Aperture will only include images that you imported into the library, not the originals you stored outside. You need to copy the folders with projects as well to your new mac and reconnect them to the image versions, otherwise you will not be able to edit your images.
But it looks like you did create these folders outside accidentally and did not intend to use referenced original files. If that is so, I'd suggest to repair this, by consolidating your library.
Select the "Photos" view in the source list of your Aperture Library and select all your images at once.
Then use the command "File > Consolidate Originals" from the main menu bar. This will move (or copy) all referenced images from the folders outside into your Aperture library.
When you now create a vault, it will contain all images. Use this new vault to recreate your Aperture library on your new mac. You can also simply copy your Aperture library itself to your new mac. You do not need the detour using a vault.
BTW: Where Aperture will store the originals image files depends on the settings in the "Import" panel. Make sure the "Store Files" option is set to "In the Aperture Library".

well the reason I wanted to talk to someone live because it would take forever to explain everything on here But anyway, here goes. I have an HP Pavilion Notebook with Intel Core i5-323om CPU @2.60 GHz and 8 gb ram 64bit. I am trying to run Lightroom 5.7 on my laptop and having major issues. I use an external hard drive for the storage of my photos. When I try to use Lightroom I run into many issues: Flickering of the screen, freezing up, slow, the loading circle just goes round and round lol. If I go to the washroom or leave the computer for even a minute it freezes up. I have to keep pressing Ctr/alt/delete to bring it back when it flickers. I have to constantly exit out of the program and restart it to be able to edit even just a couple of photos and then it starts acting up again.
I have tried un-installing and re-installing, updating everything on my pc, changing compatibility settings, updating development settings, I even took the laptop into have it looked at and they did all kinds of updates etc...and still couldn't figure out why it wasn't working for me. I have gone through the lists of troubleshooting for LR problems and there just seem to be nothing that works.....I have made new catalogues, moved them, tried using the software on my pc without the EHD, etc etc.......I have tried EVERYTHING...I think.....so I was looking for some answers as to why this is happening....

If you previously owned Acrobat you need the disks or download (did you keep it), and you need the serial number. You can then install, though very old versions may not work in your new systems.
Or did you have the free Adobe Reader?
