The easiest way would be to transfer your music from your iPod...do a search for the phrase "Computer Crashed" and you'll find lots of instructions for the transfer.

  • Mac Mail corrupt?--setting up new computer, problems...

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I set up my new Macbook Pro Retina using Migration Assistant to get my data and settings from my old computer and the strangest thing is happening with the Mail App on the new computer. I am signed into iCloud on my new computer and everything works except the Mail App. In system preferences, iCloud shows signed in and Mail is checked. When I click on the Mail icon, Mail opens and the set up a new account dialogue window jumps up and requests that I pick an email account type to set up (ie. iCloud, Yahoo, AOL, etc.) It does not recognize that I am already signed into iCloud and have Mail checked in iCloud system prefs. If I click Cancel in the dialogue box, the Mail App quits so I can't get into mail prefs. If I try to pick iCloud, it asks for my iCloud Apple ID and password and then it does nothing and Mail freezes. The strange thing is that I can see behind the dialogue box and I can see the Mail favorites bar and my iCloud personalized mail folders with their proper names are there. How do I fix this issue? Do I throw away a pref file or something? Open to any advice, thanks.

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • More new computer problems

In addition to the problems with my new computer, when I plug my iPod into my old computer, it will not let me access the songs I have downloaded recently, saying that the machine is not authorized even though that was the machine that I used to download them. How can I correct this?

To Maesus, Emperor & Blazer:I have the MSI 925XE Neo Platinum 54g
& I plan to use both of the Hard Drives meaning RAID 0.
and the 11-1 card reader is an ATF Pro 9 model
in addition my Power supply is a 450 watt Xion model with 18 Amps at +12v
    if that further helps you.
Last night when I attempted to solve this I got this at the end of the startup process
    "Windows XP Professional Setup"
"Windows cannot find the temporary installation files"
"The Hard Drive on which Setup placed temporary files is not currently available to Windows XP.
You may need a manufacturer supplied device driver or you may need to run setup again and select a drive that is compatible with Windows XP for the temporary installation files.
See your Windows XP documentation for more information.
On x86 based computers, floopy disks generated by setup for non CD installations are not suitable for installing from CD
Setup cannot continue. To quit press F3
then a 2nd screen with a red progress meter appears saying that the computer will reboot in 15 seconds then it reboots with the same message going in an infinite loop.
    what does this mean?
also I think one of the reasons why I'm having this problem is that not only are the two optical drives are are on the Primary Master & Slave channel
but the BIOS indicates that there are 3 more Master\Slave channels as well and the HD's are on the 3rd one
again I truly appreciate this forum trying to be the Tech support that I'm not getting with the builder.
I'm truly sorry about this as well but at least I'm learning in the same way that I did with the other computers I've had since 1994.

  • New computer, problems now with iTunes

    Hi
We very recently upgraded our computer to a HP and have Windows 7.  Downloaded iTunes 64 and all seemed OK.  We have 2 x iPod Touches (one each for kids) and I have an iPhone 4S.  Tried to open iTunes with one of the iPods and figured out that I had to authorise new computer. Done.  Also had to transfer over from old computer to new computer ????  library (cant remeber now AARRGGHH).  Think i did that correctly.  Problem is now when I link up either Apple device with iTunes via cable (no WI FI) iTunes will not open up automatically, need to shut computer off and restart, iTunes screen freezes and although it shows what apps are on each Apple devive they are all shown superimposed ontop of each other on one sreen.  Any help/suggestions will be appreciated.  i have already removed iTunes and downloaded the programme twice.

  • Just got a new computer-problems with transferring music to iPod

I just got a new MacBook Pro and am having some weird problem when I try to transfer my music to my iPod. I transferred all of my music from my old Powerbook G4 to my new computer. When I hook up my iPod to my new computer to update it, it gives me a message for some of my songs (most of which were already on my iPod) saying that it "cannot transfer these songs because I am not authorized to play them on this computer", and it removed them from my iPod. Most of these songs are ones that I actually purchased from the iTunes music store, ironically. Is there a way to get my new computer to recognize these songs so that I can put them back on my iPod?

  • New Computer - Problems syncing

I have a new computer and when i plug my Ipod in -  screen pops up asking if i want to delete contents and sync with items on library....  Wel NO i dont want to do that because nothing is on my library and i dont want to loose what i already have on my ipod. (calndr, music, apps)
HELP Please!  And i did authorize this computer.

You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
The ipod will sync to one computer at a time.  if you sync to another it will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.

  • New computer problems maybe

I just baught a brand new Dell, I have a 60 gig video iPod that has 40 gigs already filled. I am afraid that if I plug it into my new computer that it will zero itself by doing automatic update. On my other computer I mangage all my songs myself. Can anyone tell me if the iPod automatically goes to the automatic update setting?

If your iPod is set for manual update then you can safely connect it to another computer: Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Quote:
"You can manage your iPod with different computers as long as the computers are running the same operating system (Mac OS X or Windows) and you have set the iPod to "manually manage songs and playlists."

  • New Computer, problems with sync with ipod

After buying a new Computer, i downloaded iTunes, got it started and registrated at the iTunes-Store, which copied my iTunes-Acquisitions on to my new Computer. After connecting my new PC to my iPod, itunes wants to erase all the stuff on my iPod and upload only my iTunes-Acquisitions, all my CDs, which I had put on my iPod would be lost. The message says "Your iPod is currently connected to another iTunes-mediathek, if you proceed, your data on you iPod will be erased and your current iTunes library will be copied to your iPod...(iTunes talks German to me, so I translated it). How can I get all the stuff, which is on my old PC's iTunes-Library, to my new PC's Library?
    Thanks a lot!!

Easiest way is to copy the entire iTunes folder from your old computer to the new computer.

  • HELP new mpb problems, i want to replace.

So yeah i sold my last macbook to get the new one, big mistake i feel its going to be like last time, took me 8 laptops to get one that worked perfectly, the one i have now has a whine in the right fan, problem is i could only hear it at night or in dead quiet. Also the Keys "C" "D" get stuck if pushed towards the bottom instead fo straight down, the isight turns green occasionally and so on.
I want a laptop up to my standards, im a returning customer i like apple products but their quality control ***** at times. HELP i need advice, if i go to the store they might not consider the sound noise and keyboard problem as major problem to consider an replacement, i find that it ***** to have a one day old laptop up for repair, and to be honest it never feels the same.
Im decieved/saddended i dont know what to do anymore, i dont knwo it theyre going to replace it, and i dont even know if theyre going to repair the fan, i use it in dead quiet alot and when the screen is pointed at me it acts like a satellite dish amplifying the fan noise, its so frustrating i cant get a machine that has no problems, that works flawlessly.
Should i call Customer Relations maybe we can work something out?

i agree the stars arent in my favor i must be the unluckist guy on earth but mean come on it wouldnt hurt anyone to check if everythign is worling before the laptop is shipped out correct?, i mean ive had cases where the colors were messed up (gpu screwed) ive had a case where the latches would not go up, warped keyboards, whining fans, like wow seriously, and its just sad thought im going to have to be forceful... i though with professionalism there would be no questions asked. i mean ti dont wanna be a big a-hole and get a refund just to get the same laptop again. i just want something that works well is it too much to ask?

  • HELP! Computer Problems

I am not sure what's going on...but I am very worried something is wrong with my powerbook. I have had no issues for almost two years. But about two weeks ago some of my mail started coming in written in a random text. It doesn't happen all of the time. Maybe every 5 or 6th e-mail I recieve. It's odd to say the least. The same font that shows up in my mail shows up on random pages I will open on the internet as well (some pages on espn.com; news sites; etc). I have no idea what is happening and want to figure it out. Any help you could give would mean the world to me and my powerbook!

    SamnDana:
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I am not sure what is going on with your computer either. However, since you did not mention any diagnostic or repair procedures you have taken, here is a good place to begin:
    Repair Disk
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it says anything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need to use a utility like Tech Tool Pro or Disk Warrior
Please do post back with further questions or an update.
    Good luck.

  • New computer problems with itunes library

I really hope someone can help me. I have purchased a new laptop as my old one died and when i have plugged in my iphone and none of my music is available in the library - I understand that all the files are stored on my old computer but is there anyway i can get my existing music into the new library that has been created?
    Hopefully that will make sense.
    Thanks

iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod or iPhone to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
Purchased applications can be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod Touch or iPhone. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer data (such as playcounts and ratings), movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well.
A selection of iPod/iPhone to iTunes utilities:
Senuti Mac Only (iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod or iPhone as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • New computer, problems website

Spend many hours on my iweb website in iWeb 2.04 on my old G5 machine with old OS system.
Then i got a new mac mini with iWeb 3.04, i placed the map iWeb out of applicationsupport/iweb/domain on the mac mini but i can't get this site opened.
iWeb is making me to setup a new website!
    Please help!

See this page for how find the library folder and open a Domain.sites2 file when using Lion/Mountain Lion...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/mountain-lion.html
For more about the Domain file and its default location, see this page...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/iWeb-Tips.html
You don't have to store the Domain file in the library. You can store it in any folder in your Home folder to make it more easy to go to. EIther that or create an alias for the iWeb folder in the user library and place this alias in a more convenient location.
