Help! New Computer, trying to sync

So, I downloaded I Tunes to my new computer, no problem. Authorized it with the ITunes Store, no problem, the problem is, (Sorry if this is a stupid question), I am trying to sync and put all my music currently on my I Phone on to the ITunes in my new computer. But whenever I select Sync, this message appears saying: "Are you sure? all music on I phone will be erased and replaced with music on I Tunes (which is none). How do I transfer my music from my I Phone to I Tunes on my new computer?

I would like to know if there is a way to update the phones software using the new computer without loosing the music that is already on the iphone.
Not unless you have access to the original iTunes library where the music is stored.
the update process involves backing up the phone to the last computer that it synced with, deleting the entire phone content, updating and then restoring the phone.
If you cannot create a backup before updating, you will lose the phone content. You need to be able to back the phone up first - have you never synced it with iTunes on a computer ?

I lost my hardrive, got new computer, reloaded itunes, tried to sync with ipod nano and only my purchased music shows up - how do I get my downloaded music back.  message says ipod is sync'd with other library - the one I lost on my old computer! Help!

    Sue,
I recommend an external drive to maintain your music.  All your purchases are held in iCloud...so redownloading should be easy.  Also, Home sharing is a great way to transfer to a new computer, but in the case of hard drive failure your options are limited.  Home sharing is specifically for transferring to another pc.  Good luck!

  • My ipod classic is connected to a new computer, but only sync 241 songs, out 1825.  How can I fix this?

I ran into this same problem earlier with my new iPod classic 160 gb. Turns out it could be your files show in iTunes but they aren't connected to the location those music tracks are actually located.
    Does this make any sense?
You basically have to make sure iTunes is picking your songs from the right music folder via your preferences.
Option 1: If your iTunes is completely wiped blank and your music is stored in a safe place, backed up, etc. You can do the following:
Step A. Preferences > iTunes Media Folder Location > choose folder
**** please be sure to pick a location that is new or different from where you ACTUALLY stored your music to prevent your files from deleting itself as it updates****
For example, if you stored your music on your Desktop then you wouldn't choose your music folder to be the one in Desktop. You choose the folder where you want your music to go such as C:\My Music or in Mac, you choose the music folder.
Step B. Once you choose the folder where all your music is stored and you check the box that says "Keep iTunes Media Folder organized" and "Copy Files to iTunes Media when adding to library."
Step C. This is the part that will make sense. Drag the folder on desktop that houses all your music into iTunes. Because you checked the box "Copy Files to iTunes Media when adding to library," iTunes will copy all the backup music you dragged into the folder location you designated it in "Preferences > iTunes Media Folder Location > choose folder."
---- once all that is done, your itunes will have ALL your music tracks linked to the right location on your computer and your iPod will sync with as many or all of the music you desire.
    Hope this helps.

  • My new computer won't sync with my phone

I had synced my old computer (Windows 7, Firefox) with my phone (Android, Firefox). Old computer broke, bought new computer (Windows 8), synced new computer, got all old bookmarks back. So far, so good. However, I can't seem to get any new bookmarks added on my phone on this computer or added on this computer on my phone. Syncing apparently happens every day, but not between these two.
    How do I fix this?

    Are you getting any error?
Did you setup the SYNC without error?
REMOVE your SYNC, restart your mobile and reSYNC it

  • Music folder transferred to a new computer won't sync

my iTunes folder contains approximately 8,000 songs. the computer on which it's stored is no longer working properly, so i saved my itunes folder onto an external hard drive, then uploaded it to a new laptop. now, when i attempt to sync my entire music library from the new computer, it only syncs my purchased music.
the files have transferred successfully, as i can click on any given song and it will indeed play (on the computer).
it's almost as though my music non-purchased music folder is saved in the wrong place, or that my ipod is not pointing to the right folder.
any idea how to combat this problem?

    Hi HB3207!
I have a couple of suggestions for you to attempt to resolve this issue. First, I would try re-creating your iTunes library following the instructions listed here:
iTunes: How to re-create your iTunes library and playlists
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1451
You may also need to simply try restarting your phone and attempting to sync again after a restart. Information on completing this can be found here:

  • I transferred all my music to my new computer, went to sync my iphone and the music library won't sync. It's like it's leaving the old library on and trying to add a duplicate one, keeps saying there isn't enough room. Help please?

Everything from my old computer is still in the music portion of my phone, I don't know how but it hasn't synced that part.  I went through and edited the new library and there are fewer songs, it's telling my I don't have enough room on my phone.  This is impossible when it is less music than I am currently holding.  How do I get it to delete the old information and put on the new library?

How exactly was the music transferred to the new computer?
The correct way is to copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.  If it was transferred properly there are no issues with syncing to the iOS device.

  • Help! New computer, trying to transfer from iphone/ipod to computer!

Please can someone help me, my hard drive on my old computer is gone, we had a power surge and it blew and they told me that all my documents, pics and music is gone.  I now have a new computer and I am trying to transfer all of my photos and music to my new computer but I can't sync my phone (I havent tried my ipod yet).  It keeps saying that I have no record of a previous backup.  I was using my iphone and ipod as storge and back up of all pics and songs.  I managed to transfer all my purchased songs to my new itunes, but how do I transfer stuff from my iphone/ipod to my computer like playlists, photos, and music that was not purchased through itunes!!  Is this possible?  I would appreciate any help!  Thanks.

  • ITunes On New Computer Won't Sync To iPod Touch

A couple months ago I got a new laptop. I was able to transfer all my songs over from the iPod Touch (5th Generation) to the computer successfully (including plays w/ a program I downloaded). I made changes to the library since then (deleting some songs and adding some new ones). Today for the first time since I got the new laptop, I tried to sync iTunes (updated) to the iPod 3 times but it wouldn't make any changes. I've yet to update the iOS (my iPod is 2 iOS's behind). If anyone can help, thank you in advance.

You can only sync with one computer/iTunes library. To make this your syncing computer:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
If ll the synced media like apps and music are on the new computer, just backup to iTunes and restore from that backup
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

  • New computer. scared to sync

i bought a new laptop and am trying to sync. everything syncs except my music. keeps telling me that if i sync all of my music on the iphone will be replaced by the music in my itunes library, which are the songs that came on my laptop. any help would be appreciated.

Turn off automatic syncing when the iphone is not connected. Go into edit < preferences < syncing tab < then turn off automatic syncing.
Then, make sure your computer is authorized. (Go into the store drop down menu and select authorize computer)
Then, go into file and select transfer purchases.
    That should resolve your issue.
PS, this only works if your music is purchased form the itunes store.

  • ITunes on a new computer won't sync music or ringtones to my iPhone

    Hi,
I recently bought a new computer (Acer touch screen Aspire V5) which uses Windows 8. I downloaded the latest iTunes (11.0.4.4)
I authorised my computer to my iTunes account and was able to download my iTunes purchases and add music from my old computer and CDs etc.
When I plugged in my iPhone 4s it said that it was sync'd to another computer and would I like to change to this one. I downloaded my phone content and said 'yes'
Now when I go to sync my phone it starts the process. At the top of iTunes it says 'Syncing phone Steps 1-5'. It goes thru steps 1 and 2 of preparing to sync and backing up phone then starts step 3 of 5 preparing apps, then stops. No error message or explanation comes up.
I have clicked 'sync only checked songs and videos' in options and tried with it unticked as well.
I have tried deauthorising the computer and authorising it again.
The 'restrictions' setting is off on my phone.
I have run the diagnostics test thru iTunes help and it says the device attached is able to sync.
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks, Hollie
