HELP! New user unable to install

Trying to install 7.02 for the 1 st time. I keep getting a windows security msg. stating unknown publisher and unable to verify digital signature. I have spent hrs. looking through Microsoft's support and here with no solution yet. Please help!

Step by step tutorial on how to create a project from A to Z. I am a new user, and i am tired of all the tutorials NI provides, they all talk about creating some bullshit waveform or making some easy calculator vi. They never talk about the real stuff, example, how to start a project, create your vi, compiling or putting together all the vi's, compile everything together and than creating an EXE. Holly shit that's all i am asking for is an idiots guide is it that hard for NI to make ! Can anyone out there direct to something to figure this out maybe a book, article, web page something!!! You should also be aware that you cannot buit an application using LabVIEW base or full.

These are all non-techical terms and not very descriptive in the context of LabVIEW. Could you be a bit more specific on what kind of problems you encountered?
It would also be important to know your programming background? Are you experienced in any other programming environment? Is labVIEW your first attempt at programming? Are you familiar with general programming terms? Are you trying to program for personal enjoyment, for school, or as part of a job. If your employer forces you to switch to LabVIEW, maybe he could send you to some NI classes.
What is your LabVIEW version?
As anything, there is always an initial hurdle that needs to be overcome before becoming familiar in a new environment. Fortunately, this threshold is very low in the case of LabVIEW and you should be up and running after a couple of hours. Mastery takes a bit longer, of course.
Your best bet is to ask a more specific question here in the forum whenever you get stuck. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

Can I migrate data from "old" user account to new user after clean install?

I've just done a clean install of Snow Leopard on a MacBook Pro (I erased system drive before install). I've upgraded SL to 10.6.2 using a generic administrator account. And I have an exact bootable clone of my old data (SuperDuper backup on external drive).
I don't care about migrating all my old software; I'll reinstall it. But I would like to migrate system preferences, mail accounts, iCal calendars, and keychains etc. And some silly part of me wants to REname my username. (Also: I can't use Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant because some part of the old image has Microsoft Entourage hooks in Mail and MobileMe that I want to get rid of.)
So here's my question: if I create a new account with the NEW user name I want to start using, can I STILL then copy over my old data? I don't know which of the below stuff has my old user name embedded in the data. Here's the list:
Your data in ~/Documents
~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder)
~/Library/Calendars (copy the whole folder)
Also in ~/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need)
~ /Library/Keychains (copy the whole folder)

what exactly do you mean by that? you can use Migration Assistant to migrate your user only (no applications). that should most likely suffice and i don't think Entourage will be a problem. you'll have to delete various entourage folders in your documents folder afterward if you don't plan on using it anymore.

yes, as bdmarsha said, your user name is not mentioned anywhere in your home directory.

How to delete the new user added while install maverick

while upgrade my os x 10.8 to maverick, it ask me to create a new user.
after that, a folder for the new user is created in the /Users, but there is no information for this new user in the System Preferences -> Users & Groups,
i can't event delete this new user in the Users & Groups setting panel.
so how can i delete this new user?

That may be because you are logged into the new user.

Hi, im a new user to oracle express edition and have been given a task at university to complete.
Iv tried searching for tutorials myself but i either A cannot find the ones i need, or B dont understand them,
my task is:
A soft drinks company based in Cramlington require an individual to undertake a data analysis project. The company would like you to produce a prototype of the system, designed as an oracle database system.
The company would like to record sales data. The sales can be through vending machines or shop outlets; as a guide, the prototype needs to record where the items have been sold (vending or shop), details about the items as the company produces a range of soft drinks, prices etc. The region the items are sold in is important as the company would like to produce reports by region to compare sales figures. The new system will be used to make management decisions, such as where to increase marketing, whether items should be withdrawn from the market etc. Sales reports should be based on monthly figures.
Tasks
The database, SQL, forms, reports and all other applications you build for the system should be created in Oracle Express Edition, and submitted on CD-ROM.
The username and password for the DBA in your system should be as used in the lab, as follows:
Username: hecomputing
Password: ramdrive
1.     You are to create the tables in Oracle Express Edition and populate the tables with sample sales data. Take into consideration the requirements detailed above. However remember this is a guide and by no means a full list of data that should be recorded by the system. It is expected that you will produce a third normal form structure and submit this with your application.
2.     Create all forms for data entry. No data should be entered through the table view by the user; the data should be entered via a form.
3.     Create all forms to view, edit and delete data.

You can download and study the 'Store' application at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/packaged_apps/packaged_apps.html#STORE which does many of the things you need. If you 'hack' the app you'll be well on your way.

New 945GCM5, unable to install sound device

Hi all, please help,
I used the parts on the list below for a friends PC whose old motherboard was fried by power fault, some parts used, some new.
Anyway, I installed all the parts into his case along with the old hard drive. Formatted and installed Windows XP and then started to install the drivers from the CD for the Intel chipset, Intel onboard VGA drivers, Realtek NIC and Realtek HD Audio driver.
All the drivers installed and recognised the devices except the sound drivers. No matter what I do I can't get windows to install the drivers, it just won't recognise the drivers as belonging to the device.
The device shows up in Device Manager as PCI Device with the yellow exclamation mark to show a problem, when I disable the onboard sound in BIOS it disappears so it is definitely the sound device (onboard Realtek ALC888 chip, I believe).
What I have tried so far,
1. Tried install from CD.
2. Downloaded latest drivers from MSI, and tried install.
3. Downloaded latest drivers from Realtek, and tried install.
4. Tried to update driver from driver tab of device in Device Manager with the above drivers.
5. Formatted and reinstalled XP over again, and tried 1 to 4 again.
Is there a problem with the motherboard? Am I wasting my time?
Is there a way to force the install of the drivers?
Sorry if I've gone on a bit too long! Any help would be much appreciated, I've spent ages trying to fix it!

Your problem may have to do with SP3. There are known problems with SP3 and KB88111 / Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio class driver.

New user prompt when installing recovery image

I'm deploying an Oobe image of Windows 7 home prem. and also a recovery partition with the same Oobe image.
When re-installing windows from the recovery partition (starting the recovery from windows) i get promtped to input a name for a new user. This does not happen when applying the image manually from WinPE.
I know this is not much infomation, but I am not sure what infomations is needed så please ask and I will add it to this post.

If your image has a staged answer file from sysprep from prior to capture, the reason would be because setup.exe ignores it. In order to get Setup.exe to install an image using an answer file, you'll need to customize windowsRE. See the following link:

You can add your custom tool to run setup.exe with the /unattend switch.

Unix Guru to help with User Account re-install.

I have a glitch in my main Administrator account which prevents Adobe Photoshop CS2 opening or importing files of any kind from any file.
A dialogue box tells me “Could not complete your request because of a program error.”
Adobe refers to Tech Note 331307 item 2, which offers tests and options most of which I have tried. When I establish a new User Account I am able to use Photoshop fine which suggests the Admin User Account is corrupted.
According to the tech note, my only remaining option is to re-initialize the disk and rebuild system completely. That is a very big task which I seek to avoid.
I have:
1. Run Disk Doctor over all Fonts in all folders and fixed or deleted damaged Fonts.
2. Run Disk Warrior and re-run Permissions with Xupport.
3. Opened as Single user, run fsck -f. remounted disk, moved and replaced db/netinfo and replaced AppleSetupDone. All confirmed OK but glitch remained for Photoshop CS2.
Can any Guru offer a Unix solution - or any solution, which avoids
re-formatting and building my complete system?
Alternatively, given I have many addresses and bookmarks to preserve in three browsers as well as my Mail and Address book, what is the best method by which to establish a new account and delete the old one.

Yes I can confirm that this doesn't wipe out address book details and Internet set-up prefs and bookmarks.
In fact putil cannot wipe out anything. It's purpose is to check the syntax of plist files or convert a plist file to another format. No conversion is taking pace here. The -s option means output is supressed, so if you don't see anything, it means there are no errors to report.
The * character means "all" , in this case all plist files.
Eg. If you wanted to list all of the document files ending in .doc, in say a Documents folder but not .txt files, you could specify *.doc. Similarly if you wanted to list all documents named reports, regardless of the extension, you would use reports.*
So that is the usage of *.

HELP New user, importing Music from library ( WMA )

I am a new user to Itunes ( bit late i know ).
I need to move my music ( my music folder ) into itunes.
I have over 40Gb of music. If i import music folder through Itunes using the file > Import folder menu, i am lead to belive that firstly all my music will need to be converted to Mp3. this is not a problem althouigh i am sure it will take a long time.
My main worry is that when converting the music into itunes the origional my music folder will stay where it is therefore doubling up my music to over 80Gb and therefore will not fit on my hard drives.
i tried to cut and paste my music files into the itunes music folder within my music although it doesnt appear in my library???

Moving files into the iTunes library doesn't comvert them to MP3.
iTunes can only use unprotected WMA files. If you are trying to add protected WMA songs, they won't go into the iTunes library.
You can leave all the music files where they are. iTunes will only copy them to the iTunes folder if you have that option checked.

When ever I try to uninstall iTunes the Error Message: A later version of iTunes is already on this Machine. Installation cannot continue. appears and For Quicktime the installation wizard doesn't even appear. I cant open iTunes or Quicktime through shortcuts either and the Error message for shortcuts comes up: This action is only valid for products that are currently installed. but I can open iTunes through a music file and it plays the music fine, Cant uninstall it from safe mode either. PLEASE any help will be greatly appreciated, as I cant use my new ipod to connect to iTunes because the computer wont even recognize iTunes,

New user unable to ssh

So I got Arch installed on a seagate NAS, and everything is going great, followed the directions to create more users, and tried to ssh and I get this:

/bin/bash: Permission denied
Connection to nas closed.
After this, I spent a few hours on google looking over forums and other places, and have yet to find a solution.
/bin/bash is executable to all, owned by root
/home is owned by root
/home/linux is owned by linux
if there are any other permissions that would be needed to help just let me know.
This is super annoying, and seems like it should be obvious but I just cannot see the issue.

Oh stupid me, change linux to home in the last part.
The name is something else, user for here

"Something" more to help new users?

Is there anything you would like Arch to do for less linux competent users? To have "something" more to help them setup their system, without Arch compromising it's stand?.... will not be added in base install of Arch (except if does improve and approved by devs) nor tools making users miss the learning (computer illiterate).
PS.
For tools, keep this in mind:
Don't let configure tools / GUIs control the system but be controlled by the user. There is nothing wrong of having GUIs as long as it follows this principle.

From the route I took to first installing Arch made for a pretty easy install. I don't think that that really is needed ... well unless the user did not copy down the installing instructions before installing.
Having the installation instructions on the CD would not be a bad idea but what user will know how to access them without some sort of prompt and remembering how brutal back stepping was in the installation process I don't know if it would even work.
The best thing is to make the install instructions and other manual crap to be as clear as possible.
I just don't know because other than some initial getting used to thing back in 0.3 days arch was pretty easy to use right from install through to when I stopped using it.
I suppose one thing that could make things easier is for packagers to be very sure that they have functioning packages and not semi working or broken ones. Having as many feature enabled without adding bloat to the package usually is a good thing too.

Need publishing error help - new user.

I am new to the mac world having just purchased a MacBook, signed up with a mac account, and am trying to test load a very simple 2 page web site. I continue to get publishing errors (different file names sometimes appear when I retry to publish). Nothing shows up on my idisk, so nothing is getting through. I have tried to publish about a dozen times over the last couple of days. I note others have had similar errors. Since space is not an issue on my idisk and the site is so small, I'm not sure what to try next. Any ideas? Thanks.<

“iDisk Quota Error” fix
A. Quit iWeb, if it is open. Select Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu.
Then type (or copy and paste) ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb into
the field and click Go. You should now see a file named, Domain.
(or you could just do it manually by opening the hard disk, open the Users folder, then open the Folder with your user name on it, open the Library folder, open the application support folder, open the iweb folder, and then you should be looking at the DOMAIN file.)
This is a Mac OSX package file. Note: A package is a relatively common type of document in Mac OSX; it is essentially a sealed folder. It contains individual items, but cannot be opened in the same manner as a folder.
B. To open the package, hold the Control Key and click on the Domain package file. Note: If you have a two-button mouse, this step can be accomplished by right-clicking the Domain package file.
C. Select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu that appears.
D. A new window will appear containing a folder named Contents.
E. Open the Contents folder. Here you will see one, and possibly two files named assets.<membername>.groups.<groupname>.plist or assets.<membername>.plist, where <membername> and <groupname> correspond to your .Mac member name and .Mac Group name. Note: Your .Mac member name is the first part of your .Mac email address, before "@mac.com."
NOTE FROM ME... I didn’t find these files in the Contents folder, I found
them when I opened the Domain File itself. Whatever.. when you find one,
or maybe both of these files, delete them. (some people have both, some
have one)
F. If you have either or both of these files, move them to the trash. Then close
the Contents window.
G. Relaunch iWeb and try publishing again.
