Help!!  No AUDIO output from iMac through FW to mixing board (zed r16)

With my system stated below, I run an Allen-Heath ZED R16 board via FW. PROBLEM: I get NO Audio output to the R16 when I play iTunes or DVD/CDs in the iMac.
I DO get audio feed when I playback projects from Logic.
I have checked all System Prefs on the iMac (cahnged to the ZED); on Logic (changed to the ZED). I tried all different channels, routing, etc. NOTHING.
Can someone help?

Well, the Allen-Heath support site had the answer... quite surprised and pleased!!
Have to reconfigure the iMac speakers in the Audio/Midi preferences. The details are found in this URL:

The ZED R16 is a great board but certainly not Plug' n Play.

  • Multi channel audio outputs from a laptop such as 5.1 or 7.1

is it possible to get multi channel audio outputs from a laptop such as 5.1 or 7.1 for watching Movies or television while using Windows media Center.

Ok so i order to help anyone who is interested.
The only ironic solution to this problem i found was to use a plugin called xto7 to convert the xml to the old fcp7 format.
i then imported this into premiere pro.
this was then able to export an OMF that when imported into logic 10 that was using the correct 6ch mono setting as separate tracks.
Insane but it works until Apple fixes the incorrect meta data import in FCPX that sets the xml export to the default import that is always surround.
this is the only way i was able to send stems with all the edit points and fades for the sound editor.
If you don't have premiere lying around you maybe able to do it with fcp7 too we just didn't have it in this studio.
Fingers crossed Apple fixes the fcpx xml export.

  • Simultaneous audio output from Ipad and bluetooth ?

Is it possible to have simultaneous audio output from IPAD and a bluetooth speaker? At present I can only get audio from the Bluetooth Speaker and nothing from the IPAD's audio out! My purpose is that my Mom will hold the IPAD to listen to her Audiobooks but my Dad who sits across the room and is hard of hearing needs a speaker close to him, so I need simultaneous audio from both devices.

The speaker output on the iPad is pretty limited and your mother will probably have a hard time hearing it. Get a BT speaker for both and the above device and they both can listen from whatever location they want (within 40 feet) and get better sound.

  • No audio output from the orange mini j

    Hi all,
I am having problem with my Audigy 4.
Hope you know what I mean, there are three 3.5mm mini jacks
of three different colors: green, black, and orange.
I have noticed that there are audio outputs from the green and black mini jacks only, while the orange mini jack seems to be not working at all.
When I plugged an earphone line to the orange mini jack,
I could hardly hear any sound from it.
Any idea?Message Edited by kwfine on 07--2007:03 AM

The orange jack is the center/subwoofer audio jack. If you're using a 5. speaker system. Make sure you have selected 5. speaker setting in the speaker setup software.

  • Analogue Stereo Audio Output from the New Mac Pro

Does anyone know what the analogue stereo audio output from the new Mac Pro is? From the specification, there appears to be a stereo output for headphones, but it is unclear what other audio outputs are available and whether a stand-alone amplifier is required to drive small stereo speakers. It is line-level. You will need powered speakers or an amplifier.

  • A minor helpful tip - Convertion of TV Tuner audio output from on-board sc to SB Live! 24 bit

    Hi guys,
Many of you might had known about it but I just would like to share my tiny knowledge here with those who might has the same problem when they upgrade their on-board sc to SB Li've! 24 bit sc.
If you have a on-borad sound card, and if you decided to but a new SB Li've! 24 bit sc and then you might find that all audio are OK after installing the SB Li've! 24 bit sc except sound/audio from your TV tuner !!! . . the TV sound is MUTED!
Firstly, there is this tiny Audio Cable connected from your TV tuner card to a 4-pin input-jumper somewhere on the motherborad (since it's a on-borad sc, you might not find it on the on-board sc or next to it). Please note that my on-board sc is refering to my On-board Realtek AC97 Audio sc as for my case. You might have a different on-borad sc, but generally the setup is more or less the same.
After installing your SB Li've! 24 bit sc, make sure you re-direct this tiny Audio Cable from TV tuner card to the 4-pin Audio input jumper of you SB Li've! 24 bit sc.
Then, go to your WindowsXp Sound control property, UN-MUTE the Auxiliary.
Then, go to your TV software program to configure the AUDIO SOURCE to Auxiliary.
Tada . . you got the sound/audio from TV. Now. . you can surf the net or do your work while enjoy your TV program at the top of the screen!!
    I hope this help!

    Latest....
After reinserting the ATI card, I was not able to test before driver installation due to low resolution video.
I tested after installing the latest ATI driver and still had zero SCP issues.
I then uninstalled the original driver from the SB Li've CD and reinstalled the latest driver from filename SB24_WEB64_LB__04_0055
    SCP is BACK!
This DOES seem to indicate a major change in the Creative drivers from original issue to current issue that are not in spec.
    My SB Li've model # is SB040.
The information from the p7.inf file on my CD is as follows.....

  • Simultanious audio output from both mini Displayport and Audio Output port?

    Hey guys,
I was wondering if someone who already has audio+video output through the mini displayport set up can be so kind and answer the following questions for me:
Can audio be output simultaniously from 3.5mm audio port as well as the mini displayport? That is, if I output both video and audio to my reciever through the 2010 iMac's mini Diplayport, can i use the standard audio output port to provide line input for a further set of (active) speakers (analog would be fine)?
In the case both outputs CANNOT work simultaniously, which one will work if i have both plugged in? If the mini displayport has higher rank (or priority or what whatever i should call the one that works when both outputs are plugged in), and the reciever it is plugged into is switched off, will audio automatically switch to the standard audio port? Same question goes if the standard audio output port has higher rank/priority?
    Many thanks in advance!
Just in case you are wondering why the heck i would wanna do that, here's some background:
I am planning on setting up my new 27' iMac on a 'work' desk in my bedroom, where i can comfortably sit and work on the computer as well as use the beautiful screen as my bedroom TV. Since i also wanna use my mac for all my living room multimedia needs (movies, tv shows, music, etc), i plan on running a long (15m) audio+video HDMI cable all the way up to my reciever in my living room. Furthermore, i am also planning on running a USB cable to the living room (through something of this sort: http://www.coolgear.com/images/171632pro.jpg) plugged in to a usb hub mainly for mouse/keyboard availability in the living room, but also for other things such as external hard drives and so on. The problem is that, apart from having my audio play in the living room, i also want to provide line input to my reference monitors that will be located at the iMac desk and i obviously much prefer i get the line input directly from the mac rather than running a third cable from reciever back to the speakers.

    Anyone?
Is that so few people are using the new mini displayport for audio, or did i ask the wrong way?
Help will be greatly appriciated as i need this info in order to plan my purchases!

  • Combined audio & video from iMac mini DVI & headphone ports to HDMI to TV

I presently have my iMac connected to my Sony Bravia tv so that the video goes from the mini DVI port through a converter to HDMI to a 25 foot cable, a HDMI coupler and another 25 foot cable to the TV. The video quality is good since I use 24 AWG cables. The audio goes from the headphone port through a 50 foot 3.5 mm cable to a converter to RCA stereo cables to the tv. The audio quality is not very good with this setup and I would like to send the audio over the HDMI cable with the video so that I would have only a single cable over the 50 foot run and could use a HDMI wall plate for a neater installation. I am wondering whether anyone has tried this somewhat expensive solution to my kind of problem, and whether it worked. Atlona DVI + Digital Audio to HDMI Converter. Model: AT-DVID-HDMI

Not sure if it would work. The audio input is described as +audio (SPDIF) input+ which is not analog or the Toslink optical digital. SPDIF is a digital format, so you would need another converter. And since the video input is full DVI, you'd need a different adapter for the iMac's video output.
Considering the complexity, additional adapters, rather long travel length, and $199 price for the Atlona device, depending on what you want to show on the HDTV, you may want to consider an Apple TV. The older 40GB version is $149 at the Apple +Special Deals+ page. You can then stream your content wirelessly, and not have to worry about any cabling. But obviously, an Apple TV does not stream everything that that iMac can play, so it would only work if what you want to show is stuff you can play in iTunes. Plus you may want to see what Apple introduces at the 1/27 special event.
The iMac's audio output port doubles as an optical digital port, with a Toslink adapter, so if the Sony Bravia has optical digital input, you may be able to run a Toslink cable. I believe 50 feet is too long, so you would need some type repeater at the midway point.

  • Optical audio output for IMAC

My new IMAC 2.66gh 24" is coming. Just wondering if the IMAC can output true bit stream audio signal through the toslink cable. I have a Logitec 5400 THX 5.1 Speaker system support THX, Dolby Digital, DTS hard decode. What I heard from other website saying is IMAC can only output 2.1 channel audio sound through optical. If that is true then my 5.1 speaker system is useless.

  • Can MainStage split the audio outputs from a plug-in to separate busses/out

Take EXS24 or Battery 3 or Kontakt as examples
Only one plug-in instantiated but each drum 'hit' sent to separate outputs from within the plug-in/VI and brought into the mix on Audio/Aux channels for separate processing.
It's easy to set up in ProTools and Logic.
(I don't want to send the output of the channel strip to a bus - I know how to do that)
I've read the manual so many times and can't find any answers.
Does MainStage actually allow this routing ?
    Thanks for any help
    Lee

As far as I know, the only way to do what you want in MainStage is to set up an EXS24 for each output.
The EXS24 does have an option to load with multiple outputs, but I haven't found a way to make it work on my set up.

  • Audio Output from Mac Mini 2010

    Hello -
I purchased a mac mini 2010 this weekend for use as a home theater PC. I've got it connected to an Onkyo tx-sr604 a/v receiver via HDMI. I then pass the HDMI signal from the Onkyo to my hdtv, so I think it just passes through. For audio, I use a surround sound system. And, in case it matters, I have a second tv connected via the DVI output on the mini.
The Onkyo indicates that the audio input signal on the HDMI is PCM Multichannel. When I play movies (e.g., Netfix or DVD) or music (e.g., pandora) on the mini, I don't get any sound on the center channel in multi-channel mode. In direct mode, I only get sound in the front left and right speakers. I'd like to have normal surround sound.
Is there not a way to get 5.1 surround sound from the mini? Or, am I missing a set up or something? If I connect my receiver to the mini with the digital audio output, will I then receive digital audio?
    Thanks.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Mike it is my understanding that if you want 5.1 Surround sound that you must connect the mini directly to the SS system and not pass the audio signal through another device.

  • Audio Out from iMac

Hi there....on my iMac, suddenly I'm only getting audio out from the headphone jack at the back (which goes into my JBL Creature II's) on the RIGHT hand side. it does seem that suddenly the output jack socket has become defective....anyone else had this kind of thing?

Try it with something else, such as iPod earbuds, to make sure the problem is not on the speaker side.
Also, check System Preferences Sound pane Output tab to make sure the Balance setting did not get set all the way to the right side somehow.
If it's still broken, try resetting the PRAM

How do I turn the audio output on?

I think I resolved this! I had the same issues you have been having for a few months. I am actually running Vista. Here is what I did...

    2. Re-installed boot camp from Leopard DVD
    3. Installed boot camp update 2.1 (downloaded from Apple support, i know this is for XP only, but I updated anyway.)
    4. Downloaded the realtek drivers (high definition audio codecs) from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/
    5. DO NOT use the Realtek installer to install the drivers...instead extract the contents to a folder.

  • Optical/Digital Audio Output from MacBook

So I am interested in hooking up my MacBook to my HDTV so I can watch movies with it. I know for video I need to get a mini-DV to HDMI cable. That's easy. But what about audio? I would ideally like to have playback in surround sound. I have read that the headphone audio output also doubles as an optical output. Is this true? If so what cable can I buy and will it output surround sound from a DVD movie?

Yes, the audio port doubles as an optical in and output. You will need a optical cable from your macbook to your sound system to have surround sound/dolby digital, and when you play the dvd it should automatically convert the output to a digital signal. I have this setup on my iMac and Macbook. I have the logitech Z680 (now Z-5500), and when I play a DVD, the screen on the controller says 'digital'.
The cable you'll need is a optical audio cable 3.5mm (for the macbook) to a toslink (square shaped with two corners tapered). You can buy cables which are toslink to toslink that come with adaptors for 3.5mm jacks.
