Help - No Boot After Flashing Bios!

HELP!
I have just flashed my BIOS (on 865PE Neo 2 LS) and the computer will not boot!
I get 'CMOS Settings Wrong'
Next line gives F11, F12 and F10 optons
then F1 to run Setup and F2 to load default values and continue.
The only trouble is that none of thse keys do anything and the only thing I can do is Ctrl-Alt-Del and this brings me back to the same screen etc. etc..
The new BIOS I loaded was A6728IMS V2.5 092904
I am DESPERATE!!!
Many thanks

Did you ever get a solution for this? I'm having the same problem now and I can't even boot. I would love to know a solution if you have one. My email is [email protected]
Thanks,
I appreciate this.

  • OS not booting after flashing BIOS

I have a K7N2 Delta-L , i flashed the bios to version 5.8 , but it showed my prsessor speed as 1350mhz when it should be 1800mhz(Athalon 2200xp+).
The bios flashing utility had asked if i wanted to save my current bios before flashing , so i did.
Since 5.8 didnt work out i thought it prudent to restore the previous bios , but after doing that the computer refusted to boot , it completes the post and detects evrything properly but after that is shows me a blank screen with the cursor flashing , the diagnostic led's show me that it has halted at floppy drive controler initilization.
Now my bios shows verion 5.1 when i think i had 5.4 earlier , i disabled the bios from detecting the floppy drive ,disabled the floppy drive controler and disconnected the folppy drive but it had no effect , i then connectd the floppy drive back and did the bios recovery method described in the manual , but that too had no effect.
    Please help me

  • System dead after flashing BIOS

I posted the note about my system hanging in the post screen for a few minutes before windows kicks in. It was in relation to hooking up a USB keyboard.  Anyway a simple problem turned into a nightmare.    After doing and checking some of the things some of the guys recomended, I decided to check my version of BIOS through live update. Low and behold a newer version 1.9 was availible, I had 1.5.
The new version also had some USB fixes including....Great just what I was looking for.    Well, everything went fine until it was time to reboot....then my system never came back. The screen was blank and black. I can't even get the recovery floppy to work?    Any suggestions as it was late last night and Im at work now.   Is my BIOS chip fubar?   Is it time to replace this motherboard already?
                                                                                                                                               Mike Dykas

Well gentlemen, I had to laugh when I read the troubleshooting sticky.  It seems the windows booting delay problem with the saitek usb keyboard hooked up  was caused by USB support being enabled instead of disabled.   I will always read the sticky's first from now on.  Sooooo !
Here I am with this beautiful  looking paper weight with lights !
After flashing BIOS from live update  (  I know  now )   my system never came back to me.   I reset CMOS with the button, and I also removed the battery and put it back in.  No help !                                   I made the Bios recovery floppy, for the award bios recovery, but when I power up the floppy never kicks in .    I 'll try and pick up a new CMOS battery tomorrow.  Interesting though that the D bracket lights to  "  initializing Video Interface "  and there she stays.     I'm wondering now If I should just get me a new bios chip. Which to me would be the easiest way to go.  I keep my board intact and everything  stays put.   No loading all the software all over again.  I'm not without, I have my Vaio, but pczilla was my baby........ya know the feeling right.   I don't know of any other course to take unless somebody out there has a better idea, I'm all ears   ............

  • Weird annoying noise after flashing bios

I recently built a new computer with the following setup:
    MSI K2N7 Delta ILSR
Athlon XP 2800+ (with stock hsf)
x2 256mb pc2700 Corsair XMS (running dual channel)
    Hitachi Deskstar 120gb harddrive
I flashed the bios yesterday with the MSI Live Update3 utility and the flash went smoothly.  No errors or anything.  I reboot the comp when told to and then as soon as Windows loads up I hear this high pitched electrical noise.  Immediately I shut down windows thinking something was going to get fried.  Then I checked around the components and everything was fine.  So I powered it up again and nothings wrong except this highly irritating sound.  I can't hear it through my headset, and I booted up without the harddrive and cdrom drive plugged in to see if it was those making the noise.  I tried picking up the sound with a mic but it doesn't get picked up.
Another thing is that when I my case and psu (Thermaltake Damier case and Thermaltake Silent PurePower 420w psu which came together), it was on the wrong voltage on the back (220) and although the lights and fans would turn on the computer wouldn't boot, and I think this noise might be from the psu, but it didn't start making the noise until I flashed the bios.  I'm going to a computer shop to have them check it out tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone has had a similiar experience after flashing bios.  My computer works fine but its making this high pitched electrical sound.  I've run various test that come with motherboard monitor 5 and sandra and everything is running fine.  I'm thinking about resetting the bios chip or trying to get the mobo exchanged.
Also, whenever I open a IE window, or open anything it stops for a second, and also when something is loading it stops making the noise for a second.  It doesn't usually start making the noise until windows xp is loading.  I'm definitely sure that its not the hard drive, cd rom drive, or floppy drive making the noise.  I also unplugged the case speaker from the mobo and it still makes the noise.  I turn all the case fans on off and the sounds seems to be coming from the mobo.

I've had both a 300 MHz SiemensNixdorff and a 266 MHz of same brand. Boy, did they take a beeting! Reliable though and good for office work. One of them is still alive, I think. Pentium II both of them, I think.
Two different approaches to noisy system:
    1
    Motherboards making a Siren-sound
If your board is making the sound of a firetruck, BEEP-BOOP-BEEP-BOOP...
    Check the folowing:
    1. CPU too hot
    2. chassis intrusion was enabled in the BIOS
    3. PSU is below min/max allowable value
    2
The beeping is like a siren, High-low-high-low-high-low and it runs till I turn off all power to the system..... I bought a new heatsink and fan today that was copper... waiting till I get home to try it out.....
as far as whether the bios was reading temperature, if I remember right it was set for disabled by default.... will have to check again when I get home what it was set for...

  • Z77 MPower loop after flash BIOS

    Hi to all people,
after flashing BIOS from 17.7B4 to 17.8 (from uSB drive in "BIOS Utilities")  the video is black and system is on restart loop but nothing else.
Try to unplug power system, reset  button, gotobios button, clear CMOS with jumper (in power off) but nothing to do: only continuos auto-loop on/off between 20 seconds circa !
    Please help, very frustrating situation.
p.s.: system is in signature, is working great... prior to.

    Hello
manual of Z77 report "do not multi-BIOS  switch when the system is powered on".
I have to go anymore ?
    Ty,
    Adry aka Caronte
ignore that in this situation as its the only way to recover the Failed BIOS without paying a shop to SPI flash the failed chip! (switching BIOS while its on will only cause errors on the chip you switched to but as yours is bricked it cant make it any worse) this will allow you to tell that BIOS CHIP upon restart to Flash by imprinting a copy of the open M-FLASH utility to the chip that can then allow the chip to be re flashed to a functional recovered state.
so just disregard that warning in the manual as the described way we have suggested has a good track record of successfully recovering a bricked chip on M-Power and other boards outfitted with the Multi BIOS hardware switch so just give it a go and all should be good.
the live switching to recover BIOS has been successfully done many times and the info in the manual doesn't have any weight regarding Bricked Chips only ones that are functioning correctly...

  • GE70 2OE stays in BIOS after flashing BIOS -- RESOLVED

I flashed the BIOS on my GE70 2OE-017US tonight. The previous version was E1757IMS.51B, the new version is E1757IMS.51C (http://www.msi.com/support/nb/GE70-2OE.html#down-bios&Win8 64). The flash process was successful. However, it cannot launch the Windows 8 login screen. It enters the BIOS automatically.
I am sure that I downloaded the proper version of the new BIOS file and flashed the BIOS correctly (I flashed to the 51B version from 517 version successfully in June.)
I tried the following, but neither works.
    1. Downloaded the 51C BIOS file and flashed the BIOS again.
    2. Turned off the laptop, removed the power cord & the battery, then installed the battery and connected to the cord, and turned on the laptop again.
The bad thing is that I do not keep the previous 51B version file after the last flash, or I could try to flash back to the old version.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

    The ISSUE has been resolved!!
After checking the BIOS setup thoroughly, I figured out that the following Boot Option WAS DISABLED!
Boot tab -> UEFI Hard Disk Drive BBS Priorities -> Boot Options #1
The laptop functions again after setting Windows Boot Manager in the above configuration.
I conservatively guess it was introduced by the new BIOS file. Anyway, the laptop works again.
I posted it here in case anyone happens to have the same problem after flashing BIOS.

  • N500 won't boot windows xp after flashing BIOS

Hi, I purchased an N500 a couple weeks ago, it's been running fine on xp, except occassionally I'd get disconnected from the internet (a line problem, not the computer, happens here in egypt) but the wireless would not automatically reconnect to my line once the line was back up.  The log file for the wireless card said something like "unable to set proper band" when this happened.  Anyway my driver version was the latest version, so I thought maybe I needed to update bios.  So I flashed bios using the flashbios utility that is listed on the lenovo website in the download section dedicated to my laptop model.  The laptop then restarted itself, and then I got the black screen that says "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start correctly...." blah blah blah.with options to start up in safe mode, last known configuration that worked etc.  However when I choose ANY of these options about 3 seconds later I get the blue screen of death, and the computer restarts!  So how do I get myself out of this mess!  Thanks Lenovo for that great Flash utility by the way!!

Try reinstall the OS. I hope it works. My opinion is when you update BIOS, The OS detected as a new computer (for some pcs). Try repair The OS with boot from CD.
    Good Luck,....

  • BSOD after flashing BIOS

    Hello everyone,
I have encountered a problem after flashing my mobo with a new BIOS (either "official" 3.3 or 3.36 or 3.41 beta which I have received from MSI tech support because of famous >219 HTT problem).
Flashing goes okay, and after reboot, just before the Windows XP loading logo should appear, I get a qiuck BSOD and then restart. It's too fast to read anything, and running Windows in safe mode doesn't help. Returning to the original BIOS 3.1 solves the problem.
But as I've read few people tried both BIOSes and it worked... so where could be the problem?
I'm very sorry for my english...

  • HELP! Problem after updating BIOS of my Lenovo ideapad S10-3S

I'm hoping somebody will help me out of this nightmare. Cause i'm searching and searching across the net for an answer for this the whole day and i didn't find any accurate solutions for this.
Well to start, i just updated my laptop's BIOS two days ago because i just saw on lenovo's website that there is an update file for the BIOS and I rapidly DL it and installed as per instruction, it was running fine after that but i just noticed that the system start up and even shutdown takes centuries to finish. Then i turned it on sleep having the screen facedown to the keyboard, and noticeably the 4 indicator lights are still lighted up for approximately 5mins before the laptop totally turned to sleep mode. Then I turned it on at the evening and voila! It is not booting up to the log in screen, it just gives me a background wallpaper for the log in screen without the avatar box and password in put box. After the BIOS screen loads, it offers me two options:
    (1) Launch Startup Repair [recommended as it says]
    (2) Start windows normally
I tried both but still having the same result. And one option that i tried is to reformat the laptop instead because onekey recovery is also not a dependable solution. But lo and behold!!! It also stuck into a part where it says "starting up the setup".
I really don't know what to do now!!! Please Lenovo team help me! I'm kinda smash the screen here! Its just that BIOS update is the Major update in my laptop after 4yrs of purchase. Help!

    Hi buddy,
This stop code means you are using a wrong SATA controller driver. For XP installation you have to integrate the SATA driver before you can install XP. There are a lot of threads about this problem here in forum.
For Intel chipset you have to download Intel Storage Manager from official Toshiba website and follow the instructions here to reinstall Windows with correct SATA drivers:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB85017Z0000R01.htm
Alternative follow the instructions posted by peterk_1. Setting IDE mode instead AHCI in BIOS will also help :)

unfortunately i didn't read the forum before flashing my 865GM2-LS from the 5.1 to 5.3 bios version using the "flash in windows" option....flashed the bios as i was having tonnes of prob with the TWINMOS DDR PC3200 512MB ram....blue screen of death kept poppin out with the "error in phyical error dump" or something like dat.....well anyway dats off topic n i had dat resolved
after flashing my SATA hd wasn't detectable...no prob.....simply enabling the SATA controller did the trick..sorry off topic again....juz wanted to highlight all the S**T i had to go thru
however....the prob now is that even with the onboard LAN controller enabled in the BIOS i'm unable to get any IP address...the LAN appears in the windows device column to be working properly...even the icon on the windows tray shows it connected...the thing is that after repeated ipconfig /release & ipconfig /renew i'm still unable to get an IP address...i've even disabled the onboard LAN in the BIOS and added a PCI d-link DFE-530TX card n the same problem persists.....windows detects the card n the tray icon shows it as connected....even using USB connection to the modem doesn't work....also i've cleared CMOS using the jumper changes on the m/b.....but i just simply cannot get connected!!!! it definitely is not a ISP prob as i have another pc which i tried connecting...no problem at all
i even tried reinstalling the INTEL INF n the LAN drivers that came with the installation CD all over again....and without avail
i really do not wish to reflash the m/b again....i've flashed my old abit n gigabyte m/b before....never encounterin such horrors..... can any of u please help?!?!?!?!

u have juz made my day man!!!! after almost 12 hrs of tinkering... changing to the static ip of the other pc....adding PCI LAN card....disabling on board card....reinstalling drivers....ALMOST flashing back to the older firmware version for the m/b...n it boils down to a simple on off switch...muahahaha

with regards to the DDR rams....i think i'll juz let it go.....too much tinkerin makes me cross eyed....if the BIOS says i have them in 1st n 3rd dimms....even though its confirmed in the 1st n 2nd dimms physically....i dun give a damn anymore...as long as there's no blue screen of death i'm a happy camper!!!!!

  • 890FXA GD 65 wont't reboot after flashing BIOS

I have flashed my BIOS using Live Update 5. Everything seemed OK, but when I rebooted, Windows halted. The logo started coming up and then just stopped halfway.
On another system I prepared a bootable USB stick, and tried to flash my memory again. To no avail.
    Clearing CMOS did not help.
I tried several BIOS versions, to no avail.
When flashing BIOS, I get the following on screen:
    -   Bootblock checksum: OK
    -    Module checksum: OK
    -   - Rom Hole: NIC Protected!!
    System data protected
    -   erasing flash: OK
    -   writing flash: OK
    -   erasing NVRAM: OK
    -   writing NVRAM: OK
    -   erasing bootblock: OK
    -   writing bootblock: OK
    -   Verifying bootblock: OK
    -   CMOS checksum destroyed
    -   Program ended normally.
I have not been able to find what the third an fourth line mean. And not at all what I can do about it.
I tried to reinstall Windows, which failed. It stated that my disk was defect.
Can anybody tell me what to do to make it run again?

    Hello,
I was on here looking at boards just like mine and I passed your post....I am sure you have heard this. I know I have a 100 times or more. Never use a Windows base programs for updating Bios... To many Bricked Boards using the same utility. But getting into windows-might mean you just don't have your bios set right. It has been a long time since I updating the bios on a MSI Board...But If I can remember right--It reset everything back to default....You might need to go in an make sure all your setting are correct...AHCI and not IDE.....Ram setting's PCI settings...all that good stuff.
I bet if you can get into Bios and all the settings are there---and you can work around in Bios---Its an easy fix...
    Can you get into Bios?
Can you press F8 right before the windows screen...or right before it boots up.....Get into the repair section and check Booting?
    Good Luck!!!!!!

  • MSI 770T-C45 won't post after flashing BIOS with M-FLASH

After flashing AMIBIOS 8.3 to v8.7 with M-FLASH via USB stick I can't get any post.
Had I read this forum before I wouldn't have done it, but here I am.
Fan starts, LEDs are off, no beeps at all, power button does nothing. Black screen.
After force flashing (yes, I am THAT stupid) the prompt said it would reboot in 5 seconds and after that nothing.
    Here's my setup:
    Board: MSI 770T-C45
    Original Bios: v8.3
Flashed Bios:  v8.7 (flashed with M-FLASH)
VGA:   EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
    PSU:   Enermax FMAII EG465AX-VE 460W
    CPU: AMD Phenom x4 9650
    MEM: Kingston DDR2-667 4x2GB KVR667D2N5/2G
    HDD: SAMSUNG 840 SSD 250GB
    OS: Windows 8 Pro 64bit
I tried every CMOS clearing method found in previous posts and threads (including this and this.)
    1. Unplugged from power, waited 5 minutes, removed the battery (5mins), changed jumper position (5min), switched it back (5min), plugged it in (5min) and powered up with and without USB stick in the hub next to network hub with old BIOS (v8.3) inside. Pressed CTRL+HOME, anything, not a single message or beep or LED flashing.
Also I removed all RAMs and kept one in the first socket. Nothing.
I really don't know what to do next. What seems to differ from other users is LEDs non working, what does that mean?

The problem here is that after update 8.6 the m-flash module was updated, so yes your mobo is a brick, but there is still hope for it. I had the same situation a few days ago with the exact same model and was able to recover it by following the steps on listed on the below posts:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=133578.0
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=129989.0
It may seem complicated at first, but trust me its not at all.
Anyways you probably already have another mobo, send it for RMA or used it as frisbee, but it may come handy for some other doing the same noob flashing as we did

  • Satelite P300 does not boot after failed Bios update

    Hi everyone,
I have tried to update the bios of a P300 using this :
    18/03/10
    BIOS Update
    Toshiba Windows 7 - 32 Bit 4.20-WIN32 World Wide
Which I downloaded from here: http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK after entering my laptops specifications.
The flash process hanged during the update and the laptop became unbootable, blank screen when powering on and nothing else...
I tried using the Phoenix Emergency Crisis application, created a floppy disk with the Bios image file that I have earlier downloaded but managed nothing.
The USB floppy driver access the floppy when entering the recovery mode, I hear some beeps that indicate that a process takes places, but when everything stops and reboot...the problem remains.
-Has anyone got a clue what to do next?
-Is the warranty void after a bios update attempt?
    Thank you for yor time.

    Hi buddy,
You should check the forum content or with other words, use the forum search firstly before you ask something. Failed BIOS update is not unusual and can happen always. The forum contains already a lot threads about this and the only solution is contacting an ASP. The guys have professional tools to recover it.

    Hello,
I just re-installed my Windows Vista x64 Ultimate SP1... Than I had a good idea to download a fresh drivers from Toshiba site... After installing a BIOS update, by WinPhlash ver. 1.0.2.2, after restart a have a surprise that my bios ask me a password it says :
    "Please Enter Your Password:
    hahaah"
All seems simple, but I cant get further.. It says wrong password... I made a lot different ways... I have a qwerty with Russian extension keyboard...
Maybe my keyboard is in Russian but I tried to change it, doesn't work neither...
So if somebody can give me a clue I'll be really great full, cause now I m on my EEEpc, and I cant live without my satellite!!!
Maybe someone knows a good password or how deactivate it?

Hmm thats really strange usually the BIOS password should not be set after the BIOS update!
I have no explanation for this issue but I know that you will be not able to delete this password without any help from Toshiba ASP
Therefore you should contact the nearest ASP in your country as fast as possible and should explain this issue and should ask for the further handling
    Good luck
