Help Nomad Juke

I have a Nomad jukebox Zen Extra and all of the sudden when I plug it in my computer doesn't reconize it. What is the problem? Also I just bought a sleek. Could the up dated version be the problem? Can I Run both of them?

You should be able to use them together. When you connect the player is it listed in Device Manager?

  • Charge Nomad Juke Zen Xtra with US

Quick question, does anyone know if it's possible to charge a Nomad Zen Xtra (a few years old) with a USB 2.0 connection? I've tried connecting it, but it doesn't seem to charge like other portable USB devices I have do.
Maybe there is software/ drivers/ firmware I need updated before this will work?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Joe,
Unfortunately the answer is no. That player doesn't support USB charging.

  • Computers think Zen Micro is Nomad Juke

Help!?I own a Creative Zen Micro and have been quite happy with it (*knocks on wood). So happy with it, that last week I was in a pawn shop, saw another one and bought it. The only difference between it and my original one is the new one is black. Well.
It's a Zen Micro. Under system info, it says it's a Zen Micro. However, whenever I attach it to my computer (Windows XP) the window pops up and says "NOMAD Jukebox 2/3/Zen detected."? Whenever I try to update the firmwave/driver/anything, the application either locks up or doesn't seem to do anything.
My husband went in and cleared the hard dri've on it. The player says Zen Micro version .02.05, with 4749 mb. What can I do? I thought I got a bargain, but maybe not. Thanks in advance.

Does it have the same firmware version as your first Micro? [Menu-> System-> Information]
Did it come with the install CD? If so, have you tried running it's
What version of Windows and Windows Media Player are you running?
    Is Windows fully updated?
I would try going to Device Manager [My Computer-> Control Panel-> System-> Device Manager] and check for the new Zen Micro.
Is there an error icon beside it's You could try manually updating its drivers and see if that hel
    ps.
You can find the drivers and other necessary software on the Zen Micro software page.
    Best of luck!

  • Urgent help : Nomadic computing / connected env(long)

    Hi,
I need some urgent help on the following problem.
Platform : NT 3.51 as the Env Mgr, server and clients.
    Forte : 2.0.E.1
The test case is simple :
Multiple, lets say 3, Forte environments (each a NT machine, but that
shouldn't be significant), of which one is the "home" environment, Env0,
as well as the other remote environments, Env1 and Env2. I need to
    connect to Env1, Env2 from Env0 on a completely dynamic basis, i.e. I
have a list of NS addresses (IP & port) and the particular one is
selected by the user. "Connect" means anything from the very basic
invoke a method on a service, to the more sophisticated inspect (&
change) instruments and invoke commands on all system agents and custom
    agents.
I started off with the new nomadic stuff : As per Forum and technote
    (#?) x 3. I installed my server partition on Env1 and Env2 and started
the client with the -fnoins flag. Then I dynamically set the environment
variable (in NT its in HKEY_CURRENT_USER in the NT registry)
FORTE_NS_ADDRESS to the new environment, Env1. When I invoked the method
it fired off the part in the right Env. Then I changed the
    FORTE_NS_ADDRESS, to Env2, and did the task.part.DistObjLOcationMgr.Rele
aseConnection(EnvMgr).. thing. This was fine. The question now was : How
do I "connect" to the newly set Env ? I tried everything from simply
calling my server partition, to server...task.part.GetEnvMgr, to
registering anchored objects on the blessed ObjLocationMgr ! It just
didnt connect to the new Env : It stayed connected to Env1 !
Then I got onto connected environments. Here I also tried a couple of
things: Most significantly, connecting to Env1 and setting the
environment search path also did the trick, but again disconnecting from
    Env1 seem troublesome : Q : How do I seperate the original Env0 and Env1
? Forte seem to think that its all one big environment now and gave
strange errors when I disconnected from Env1, connected to Env2 and
tried to set the environment search path to Env2. Another Q, is there a
way to dynamically set the environment search path for a SO ? All I
could do was set the NS environment search path.
Anyway, my apologies for this long dragged out e-mail, but any ideas
    will help...I'm getting desperate !

Well I hate to say it but I think you borked it somehow. I have no idea what you mean by that green chip connected with two wires and that blue long chip but the fact that you are referring to internal parts that way tells me you didn't really know what you were doing in there. There is a Manual and it can be followed step by step rather than just rushing in and turning screws. I suggest putting it all in a basket and taking it to a repair shop where they can figure it out if possible. Trust me, you will not be the first such case they have ever seen.

  • HELP: Nomad Zen Xtra: MP3 filename

I don't have any sort of ID3 tags on my MP3s. I have them all sorted by filename. For example "ACDC - Back in Black.mp3". I really want to use this player but it's kind of troubling for me to not be able to just drag and drop my mp3s into the player and have them be there to be played as is(according to filenames). Is there any programs out there that allows me to not use ID3 tags for everything and instead sort by folders and filenames?
I honestly don't understand why something that costs so much money(meaning this mp3 player) to develop would not be designed with simple logic and usability in mind such as dragging and dropping folders etc...
A reply would be most helpful, thanks.

Nope, no way to do it. You *can* get MP3 tagging programs that will use your filename and folder data to create the tag, so I think this is the best place to start.

It actually works VERY well with tag data. Once people are used to it they tend to see why it works this way. If it's a real problem then buy an iRi'ver or Archos player which work the other way.

  • Transfer from ipod to nomad juke

My daughter had an ipod and she got the nomad jukebox for Christmas. She wants to use just the nomad jukebox. Can she transfer songs from her ipod to the jukebox? We can't figure it out.
    Molbat

You can't transfer direct from Ipod to the Jukebox player. What you need to do is to have the audio files from the Ipod transfer to the computer and then have the copy on the computer transfer to the Jukebox player but bear in mind that the Jukebox does not support AAC audio format.

  • Can't recharge my Nomad Juke

I have a Zen Xtra Nomad Jukebox that won't recharge. I could understand if the battery was bad but I just don't know if that's the problem. When I plug in the charger, I get a screen with the Creative logo followed by the EAX logo and then the screen goes blank (dark). This recycles over and over for hours and days but no charge goes into the battery.

Can you get it to recovery mode? ( hold play/pause press reset, then let go of play pause when the player boots?
it could be a dead hard disk ( which can easily be replaced at a low cost )?

  • Something wrong with Nomad Juke

Hi, I have a Nomad Jukebox 2 and I accidentally dropped it on the floor one day. After that the power turns off very easily. You just have to tap the power button and it turns off, and if you tilt it to one side the power button will fall in and turn it off. Is there anything I can do to fix this. My warranty has run out so I cannot use that. Thanks.

If you are somewhat good at wielding a screwdriver you could try dismantling it to see if it can be fixed. Sounds obviously like something has broken with the power switch, but short of a new switch or related bits you might be stuck.

  • Battery Life - Nomad Juke

How long should I expect fully charged batteries to last in my Nomad? Is 2 hours play time what I should anticipate? Thanks.

    Running with:
    - fully charged 2200-2400 maHa NiMH batteries, with
    - all tracks encoded at a constant bit rate of no more than 60kbps, that are
    - already queued up in the Now Playing list
should give you at least 4.5 but no more than 5 to 6 hours of playing time on a single charge.

  • Installing a Nomad Juke

I am trying to install a Nomad Jukebox on a Windows XP system. I get a message saying " Setup cannot copy the file Oasisusb.uns. I cannot loacte this file. Any ideas. Thanks

    Jbl,
Are you installing using the newest drivers and software for the Nomad Jukebox. If not you might want to use the software for the player from this website:
    http://www.nomadworld.com
This should contain everything that you need to install the player.

  • NOMAD juke bo

were can i find the USB LEAD&CHARGER FOR THE NOMAD/2 AS IVE DAMAGED MINE. MANY THANKS

Not sure about the NJB2, but I assume it uses the standard A to mini-B plug lead for USB.
The mains adapter is available at Creative's European Online Store, but not the USA one. It might be lack of stock in the USA, but you don't say where you come from. You can of course always buy a 3rd party one, just make sure it produces 5V at a minimum rated current of .5A.
