Help on adding adding a node to a tree

Hi all,
I am compelled to re-post this thread because I still haven't received any help yet.
Could someone please help me out, its urgent.
I am developing in Forms 6i with Oracle 9i.
I am trying to build an organizational chart. I use a non-query record group to populate the first two nodes of the tree. The other nodes I want to add from the screen. I am able to add to the parent node with the Add_Tree_Node function of the Ftree package, but I am not able to add to the second node. To illustrate I have something in the form shown below:
- Parent
|
|_ Child1
I can add Child2 to Parent, but I want to add GrandChild1 to Child1 so I get something in the form below:
- Parent
|
|_ Child1
|
|_ GrandChild1
Please help.

Could you please post your code?
Below code is working fine for me....
declare
     rg_id recordgroup;
     col_id1 groupcolumn;
     col_id2 groupcolumn;
     col_id3 groupcolumn;
     col_id4 groupcolumn;
     col_id5 groupcolumn;
begin
     rg_id := create_group('rg1',form_scope,10);
     col_id1 :=     add_group_column(rg_id,'stat',number_column,1);
     col_id2 :=     add_group_column(rg_id,'lvl',number_column,1);
     col_id3 :=     add_group_column(rg_id,'lbl',char_column,20);
     col_id4 :=     add_group_column(rg_id,'ico',char_column,10);
     col_id5 :=     add_group_column(rg_id,'val',number_column,5);
     add_group_row(rg_id,1);
     set_group_number_cell(col_id1,1,'1');
     set_group_number_cell(col_id2,1,'1');
     set_group_char_cell(col_id3,1,'p1');
     set_group_number_cell(col_id5,1,'10');
     add_group_row(rg_id,2);
     set_group_number_cell(col_id1,2,'1');
     set_group_number_cell(col_id2,2,'2');
     set_group_char_cell(col_id3,2,'c1');
     set_group_number_cell(col_id5,2,'20');
     add_group_row(rg_id,3);
     set_group_number_cell(col_id1,3,'1');
     set_group_number_cell(col_id2,3,'3');
     set_group_char_cell(col_id3,3,'g1');
     set_group_number_cell(col_id5,3,'30');
     ftree.set_tree_property('b1.t1',ftree.record_group,rg_id);
end;

  • Help on adding a node to a tree

    Hi All,
    I need help on hierarchical trees.
    I am running forms 6i on oracle 9i. I am trying to create an organizational chart using the hierarchical tree.
    I create an initial tree based on a record group, with two . I want to add a node to the last node but I cant see it anytime I try. I mean if my tree looks like
    + (Parent_1)
    |
    (Child_1_of_Parent_1)
    As indicated, I want to add a node which will be a child of Child_1_of_Parent_1, but I have not been able to. I can add a node as a child of Parent_1 using the Add_Tree_Node but not Child_1_of_Parent_1.
    Can any one help, I want to build the chart on the screen so I will prefer the use of the Ftree built-in to add nodes as opposed to populating the tree from a record group.
    I will appreciate any help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi All,

  • Adding JTree nodes from worker threads

    I'm trying to add a large number of nodes (> 1700) to a JTree, and I'm looking for a way to do this while allowing the user to continue working in the meantime.
    The nodes are retrieved from a database, which may be geographically distant and therefore possibly slow to access. I would like to have the process of processing the result-set and creating the Nodes run separately.
    I have considered processing the result-set in a separate Thread and creating the Nodes before then returning to the EDT to add them to the tree. This would cause the GUI to pause when adding the Nodes to the tree, but does at least separate the DB access out of the EDT.
    I would prefer to update the tree node by node as the result-set is processed, but I'm not sure whether this would incur too much overhead.
    I would appreciate any advice.

    I'm not sure overhead is the problemimport java.awt.*;

    The document references posted already are very good ones. However, I would say that on personal experience (on Solaris and 10gR2) that the addnode tools gave me nothing but problems. Luckily, I was able to build a parallel cluster (with three nodes) on other hardware and then move the databases across via DataGuard. It was quicker and cleaner (and easier!) that way...
    Good luck!

  • EP7.0 - Adding server nodes (processes) and managing all the logs

    First, can anyone confirm whether the Template Configuration Tool is used with Portal 7.0 (NW2004s)?  All of the documentation I find is for Portal 6.0.  If you use the Template Configuration Tool, it will match the resources available on your server to the type of J2EE you will be running which is the route I prefer to take.  Otherwise, I'll add the nodes manually with configtool.
    Second, is it a best practice to just stick to one server node (server0) on your DEV system?  I would think that would make analyzing all of those fun logs much easier.
    Third, are there any best practices for managing all of those logs if you start adding additional nodes.  I have server0 on the QA system with 2048MB of Heap.  I plan to add server1, server2 and server3 ... all with 2048MB of Heap.  But then the number of logs is 4 times for everything.  The Portal Tuning guide suggests turning off unnecessary logging which I will do but our developers want a convenient way to do research and we don't want them overwhelmed with logs.
    We are setting up Solution Manager Diagnostics now so I haven't seen it's functionality.  Will it make log anaysis more streamlined and easier to find relevant data even if you have 4 server nodes?

    Hi Richard,
    A1: NO!!! do not use the Template Configuration Tool on NW7.0 as it sets properties that are not valid or optimal anymore.
    A2: I don't know if there is a best practice about it but I do know that it is best practice to have atleast 2 servernodes per instance because this helps you top optimize your resources when 1 servernode is in Full Garbage Collection the other still can use the CPU to process (Presented on SAP Insider Infra & Admin in Orlando 2008).
    A3: Regarding the logging This is just how it is made... every servernode logs for itsself...
    Use NetWeaver Administrator (/nwa) to auto consoldate the loggin info. It's slow but eventualy it does the job. You can give developers an NWA read-only role (shipped by default) to look at the logs.
    A4: SMD makes central monitoring and diagnostic possible for your complete landscape.
    You can configure a central NWA on the SMD host. The solution as proposed by A3 is already helping you to manage your issue (consolidating logs of multiple servernodes.. >2 )
    Good Luck!

  • Adding 2 icons for a single node on a tree

    Hi,
    I am trying to create a tree to represent objects. These objects can be of different types, and different states. I intend to use two icons for each node in the tree, one signifying the type and the other the status. I am a bit stuck though.
    At present each node has a single icon, and uses a JLabel to add to the tree (with a custom renderer). Is it possible to manipulate the icons so instead of adding 2 16x16icons I can simplify it by adding a 32x16 icon?
    Alternativley is it possible to customise JLabel (or something) to allow two icons to be added and alligned?
    Cheers in advance
    Chris

    Just write your own composite Icon class:
    public class CompositeIcon implements Icon
      private Icon icon1;
      private Icon icon2;
      public CompositeIcon(Icon icon1, Icon icon2)
        this.icon1 = icon1;
        this.icon2 = icon2;
      public int getIconHeight()
        return Math.max(icon1.getIconHeight(), icon2.getIconHeight());
      public int getIconWidth()
        return icon1.getIconWidth() + icon2.getIconWidth();
      public void paintIcon(Component c, Graphics g, int x, int y)
        icon1.paintIcon(c, g, x, y);
        icon2.paintIcon(c, g, x + icon1.getIconWidth, y);
    }Hopefully a slightly more reusable solution. You could write all sorts of different layouts in this way.
    Hope this helps.

  • Help with adding image onclick

    Hey everyone,
    I am making a simple game in AS3 and need help with adding an image once they have click on something.
    On the left of the screen are sentences and on the right an image of a form. When they click each sentence on the left, writing appears on the form. Its very simple. With this said, what I would like to do is once the user click one of the sentences on the left, I would like a checkmark image to appear over the sentence so they know they have already clicked on it.
    How would I go about adding this to my code?
    var fields:Array = new Array();
    one_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick1a);
    one_btn.buttonMode = true;
    function onClick1a(event:MouseEvent):void
        fields.push(new one_form());
        fields[fields.length-1].x = 141;
        fields[fields.length-1].y = -85;
        this.addChild(fields[fields.length-1]);
        one_btn.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick1a);
        one_btn.buttonMode = false;
        //gotoAndStop("one")
    two_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick2a);
    two_btn.buttonMode = true;
    function onClick2a(event:MouseEvent):void
        fields.push(new two_form());
        fields[fields.length-1].x = 343.25;
        fields[fields.length-1].y = -85;
        this.addChild(fields[fields.length-1]);
        two_btn.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick2a);
        two_btn.buttonMode = false;
        //gotoAndStop("two")

    I don't know where you're positioning the button that should enable/disable the checkbox but for "one_btn" let's just say it's at position: x=100, y=200. Say you'd want the checkbox to be to the left of it, so the checkbox would be displayed at: x=50, y=200. Also say you have a checkbox graphic in your library, exported for actionscript with the name "CheckBoxGraphic".
    Using your code with some sprinkles:
    // I'd turn this into a sprite but we'll use the default, MovieClip
    var _checkBox:MovieClip = new CheckBoxGraphic();
    // add to display list but hide
    _checkBox.visible = false;
    // just for optimization
    _checkBox.mouseEnabled = false;
    _checkBox.cacheAsBitmap = true;
    // adding it early so make sure the forms loaded don't overlap the
    // checkbox or it will cover it, otherwise swapping of depths is needed
    addChild(_checkBox);
    // I'll use a flag (a reference for this) to know what button is currently pushed
    var _currentButton:Object;
    one_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick1a);
    one_btn.buttonMode = true;
    function onClick1a(event:MouseEvent):void
         // Check if this button is currently the pressed button
         if (_currentButton == one_btn)
              // disable checkbox, remove form
              _checkBox.visible = false;
              // form should be last added to fields array, remove
              removeChild(fields[fields.length - 1]);
              fields.pop();
              // clear any reference to this button
              _currentButton = null;
         else
              // enable checkbox
              _checkBox.visible = true;
              _checkBox.x = 50;
              _checkBox.y = 200;
              // add form
              fields.push(new one_form());
              fields[fields.length-1].x = 141;
              fields[fields.length-1].y = -85;
              this.addChild(fields[fields.length-1]);
              // save this button as last clicked
              _currentButton = one_btn;
         // not sure what this is
        //gotoAndStop("one")
    I'd also centralize all the click handlers into a single handler and use the buttons name to branch on what to do, but that's a different discussion. Just see if this makes sense to you.
    The jist is a graphic of a checkbox that is a MovieClip symbol in your library exported to actionscript with the class name CheckBoxGraphic() is created and added to the display list.
    I made a variable that points itself to the last clicked button, when the "on" state is desired. If I detect the last clicked button was this button, I remove the form I added and the checkbox. If the last clicked button is not this button, I enable and position the checkbox as well as add the form.
    What is left to do is handle the sitation where multiple buttons are on the screen. When a new button is pushed it should remove anything the previous button added. This code simply demonstrates clicking the same button multiple times to toggle it "on and off".

  • Error adding new node to treetable automatically

    We implemented a page with a treetable. We don't use a ViewObject/Query to build the tree but a pojo method, because we have a complex data model to display on the tree (dynamic tree level, multiple object types on one tree level, etc.). So we created a pojo method to build the tree -> created a data control for this method/class and dragged the method onto the tree component.
    In a second step we impemented several buttons on the page to delete nodes, set values, change style, etc. which works fine.
    We got stuck extending the page for a function to add a new node. When the tree is displayed for the first time we can add new nodes on every existing node. Adding a node to a new node only works if we decollapse the new node first. We get an error if we create a new node A and then try to add another node on the new node A without decollapsing node A in advance.
    As follows the code and the error stack. Any ideas?

    You can use setBorder() method which Box inherits from JComponent...
    check the API for Box for further information, namely the "Methods inherited from class javax.swing.JComponent" part...

  • Help with adding a hyperlink to a button?

    We have a simple little site we built in Catalyst and everything works great. The only problem is that we cannot figure out how to add a hyperlink to one of the buttons in the animation. We simply want to be able to click on the button and go to another site (the client's Facebook page specifically). Can anyone provide some insight? Thanks!

    Albums is a way or sorting photos. Photos aren't moved from the Camera roll. The Camera Roll consists of all the photos on the phone. If you delete from Camera Roll they are deleted everywhere but Photo Stream.
    Are you using Photo Stream? Your photos, providing they wer recent should still be in Photo Stream. If you have Photo Stream set up on your computer they should all be there.
