  • Help with Airdrop: Was working. Now fails.

Hi, I've read all the other discussions regarding Airdrop issues, but none seems to have resolved my problem.
I am attempting to use it with two Macs on the same wi-fi network, both newer than 2010 and running Lion.
I used Airdrop the first day I installed Lion with no problem.
Now, whenever I try to use it, I immediately receive the failure message (before I have a chance to accept file on the second computer).
It does not matter what type of file I try to send OR the size. Nothing will transfer, even a teeny tiny gif.
I don't see an upgrade to fix this is

    Hi,
Might be a silly question... But... have you tried Restarting the machines...

  • Airdrop Problem between Macbook Air and iPhone 5

Why cant i find my iphone 5 (using ios7), in the airdrop section in my macbook air's (using os x mavericks) finder? My iphone 5 is already set to be visible to everyone. My iphone 5 cant find my macbook air as well. Please help me.

AirDrop for OS X works over Wi-Fi, and AirDrop for iOS works over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, so they use different systems.
This means that you cannot use AirDrop to transfer files between an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and a Mac. Instead, you can only use AirDrop on your iPhone to transfer files to other iPhones, iPads and iPods touch, and AirDrop on your Mac to transfer files to other Macs

  • IPhone 5 with iOS 8.3

My iPhone 5 with iOS 8.3 no longer connects to the Bluetooth in my 2007 Mini Cooper. This happened with a previous update and was later resolved with a newer version of iOS 7. With iOS 8.3 I am unable to connect/pair my phone. Anyone else out there experiencing the same problem?

  • I have the new ipad / ipad3 . I upgraded to ios7 but I didn't get pages and numbers apps free, but my colleague who is using ipad4 with ios7 it is free. more over my ipad is not showing airdrop facility. please help me out in how to rectify those

please help me out somebody. I need pages and numbers apps immediately. I have ipad3 with ios7 running in it. Apple announced iPhoto, iMovie, Keynote, pages, numbers all are free for ios7 users. but for me it's not like that. shall I download or should I wait. in my ipad airdrop also not coming. but my colleague has both apps also comin for free and airdrop also coming who has ipad4  with same version of ios7.0.2

They are free to iOS 7 users who have activated their NEW device on Sept 1 2013 or after. They are NOT automatically free with iOS 7.
AirDrop is only compatible with iPad 4th gen and iPad mini. iPad 3rd gen and below do contain the necessary hardware for AirDrop. Also, AirDrop is only compatible between iOS devices. You cannot AirDrop between iOS device and Mac OS.

    Hi ChrisBell,
my Pixi shows me the missed calls in a list of its own? I don't have many, so maybe I'm missing something. But I agree with your half-ranting to some degree. As a long-time Palm-user (my last phone was a Treo 680, terrible form factor, good UI), I am really disappointed with the standard software on this phone. Memos and Tasks, which AFAIK were there and useful even on the first Newton's, have regressed beyond the point of usefulness now (solution: Toodledo and Done!, at least for now).
But ChrisBell: if you feel up for it, you could start tinkering. Many people love these phones so much they have started developing patches to solve the obvious problems skimmed over by developers. Try looking up "webosquickinstall" and "preware", and you will find over 300 patches and a lot of free software to help you out. I am not a computer wizard myself, but I am not scared of them either, and I have been able to make good use of all these extras made available by the community.
just a thought, might help you out on a few of your half-rants

  • HT4783 I'm trying to learn how to use Airdrop between my wife's Mac and mine. We both have it, but this article did not help us learn HOW to share files.  Yippeee that we can...but HOW?

My wife and I are trying to learn how to use Air Drop.  The "tutorial" showed us where it is.  It came up.  I saw hers (Mac).  She saw mine (Mac). But where to go after that is, apparently, in the cloud somewhere.  The description says we can share files...which is nice...but nothing tells us HOW to share those files.
Thanks for your help out there...
    Dennis

    1. Open a new Finder window or use one that's already open
    2. Click on Airdrop, press Shift+Command+R, or find "Airdrop" in the "Go" menu
    3. Drag your file to the icon of the person you want to send the file to (if you have mountain lion, you can use the share button).
    4. The other person has to click "save"
    5. The file will send and appear in the receiver's downloads folder
In Mountain Lion, a new feature was added: the share button. It's a button with a picture of a box and an arrow jumping out of it. Click on it and the third (and last) option is "Airdrop" and clicking on it will allow you to send files over Airdrop without opening it in Finder.

  • I can't share photos or anything with AirDrop!!! Help!!

My iPhone 5S is iOS 7.0.4. And I've never tried Airdrop before. But I know how it works. Today, I tried to share a photo to my friend(iPhone 5S, 7.0.4). I can't share him. I mean I can't find him in the Control Center. I have opened Airdrop to Everyone. He has opened too. He can send me photos. But I can't. Help!!! I can't share him anything. I can't find him. He can see me in his Control Center. I just can't.
    Help!!!!!

There is nothing you can do, as this has never been a feature of any iPhone. File transfer, by Bluetooth, is not & has never been a feature of any iPhone.

  • Airdrop receives file on iPad but then can't find file anywhere. Help please?

    Hi,
Any help on this would be hugely appreciated.
Have been trying repeatedly to send a video file from an iPhone 5s to the latest iPad using Airdrop.
Everything works: devices are recognised, file is sent all the way to the 'tick' symbol appearing on the iPad and the iPhone says the file is sent.
    BUT
Then nothing happens, no file opens, and I can't find it in any albums (photos, videos or otherwise) on the recipient iPad.
I haven't come across this on the forums yet so I'm hoping someone from Apple can help.
    Thanks in advance!

By and large, we aren't Apple here, just other users trying to help each other. The few actual employees, who are here mostly to keep the forums working smoothly, only rarely offer help, mostly from canned help documents.
A file transferred by AirDrop should wind up in the same app that sent it. For example, if you sent a video using the Photos app, it will wind up in the Photos app, specifically in the Camera Roll. I just verified that it works that way from my iPhone5 to my iPad Air (both on 7.0.6).
If that's not how it is working for you, please tell us the app you are using to send the video, the iOS level on each of the two devices, and anything else you think might help somebody here assist you. (It might well not be me.)
