Help on deciding on a blackberry phone

Hi I am currently a student planning to get a blackberry phone.
any advice on what phone I should get?
I just need the phone to be able to support Skype IM function and not the calling function as I don't usually call my friend but more of IM them.
I am contemplating between storm2 and torch. Storm2 is much more affordable as compared to Torch but then it doesn't support flash which is a really big bummer for a minor youtube fan like me.
I do not rule out any other options though.
Thanks
Yours sincerely,
Dwight

1) about skype.
you can use the IM features of the Skype network using any BlackBerry device. There are premium apps like IM+ or freemium apps like iskoot or nimbuzz.
the Skype app designed by Skype is limited to Verizon Wireless customers and 3UK customers.
2) about Storm 2 & Torch
both handle Flash the same way. Both can view Youtube videos using the YouTube app for BlackBerry.
The Storm2 is really cheaper, but it is slower and the browser is the previous generation.
Besides, on the Storm2, the screen clicks. This technology is called "SurePress". I like it but you really need to try it for yourself. It is the only touchscreen in the world that clicks (apart from the Storm1).

My emails are not coming through to my blackberry phone. I think it is because I changed my password to my email?

    Hi there!
If you changed your email password, then you need to change the stored credentials within BIS. See this demo for how to access your BIS configuration:

Is it possible to run internet in blackberry phone without having BB internet plan?

On the Torch model yes, you can use the WiFi connected Hotspot browser for internet surfing and a few other applications, but very few BlackBerry data applications.

Its killing me without blackberry as i have got used to and loved it more than any ...I have stored all important info which i am finding very difficult without BB...
Would really appreciate if you could help me
    Regards
    Sashikala

    Hi Sasikala,
Its sad to know that you have lost your BlackBerry. As joanb mentioned you can remotely delete all the device data if your device is BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Service) enabled. On the other hand, personal BlackBerry (BIS) user can do the same provided that they use BlackBerry Protect.
Regarding blocking the IMEI you can contact your mobile operator to help you. In come country your require to register your complain with local law enforcing agencies.

  • Unable to create POP account on blackberry phones

    Hi,
We have been struggling now for a month to simply setup a pop account on our blackberry phones.
We go to the email setup wizard and straight away it is asking for a username and password, we enter our email address for username and password of the email account for password, we click next and then it displays a message to enter the username, it keeps displaying this on both of our phones.
We have hotmail and yahoo accounts already setup on our phones, these were setup with no problems at all.
Also we have been able to setup pop accounts in the past with no problems.
We are unsure on what we need to do now in order to get this setup correctly.
I have followed these steps to try and resolve this but we dont seem to get the same pages pop up, we dont get no message to agree to any terms and conditions, just the option to enter username and password which does not work, like on step 4 of the below webpage.
    http://www.laptopmag.com/advice/tips/how-to-setup-your-e-mail-account-on-a-blackberry.aspx?page=2
    Please help!

Those instructions are old. Ignore then.
You are being asked for a USERNAME where it fails, right?
Is this the initial first screen you see after you click on the BlackBerry's email setup icon?
I suspect it is asking for your BIS data account username and password.
Or the BlackBerryID username and password.

  • How Can I Clean Memory, Cache...And Boost Memory On Playbook (like clean & boost memory on Blackberry phone)?

Dear bros, I have a question which I concern about: How Can I Clean Memory, Cache...And Boost Memory On Playbook (like clean & boost memory on Blackberry phone)? I want to to this because I want my playbook run smoothly.
    Thanks all.

The PlayBook manages memory through the OS, there's no 'memory cleaner' like on the BlackBerry phones.
In the browser, there are settings to clear cache, cookies and history which do improve the browser performance.
You may want to try and change the PlayBook multitasking mode. Go into Settings - General and change 'Application Behaviour'. Showcase is full multitasking (slower), Paused pauses all programs when minimised and makes the PlayBook save battery and run a little faster.
    Hope that helps.

  • Finally Upgrade Time- Help Me Decide..

    Hi Everyone..
I have been waiting patiently for my Upgrade Notice.  Yeah, finally time.  I currently have a LG env3. This will be my first droid phone, so wanting some feedback on which one to chose...  just some background I have a Galaxy Tab..
Sales Reps are pushing the 4G, Thunderbolt and Droid Charge, honestly, my town probably won't even get this ability until later this year and 3G is fine with me... I don't need to have access to the internet during the day, since I am at work  for 8 hours and cellphones must be turned off.
I see that there are many to chose, Costco is having a special on Fascinate right now, bundle package with desk dock, car dock and battery charger..  It looks alot like HTC Incredible...  but I can't find any smoking deals on that right now.
What other phones are comparable or should I consider ?  I don't know much about Motorolas...
I see battery life has been an issue for some phones, has that been resolved?  That will matter to me, as I want a phone there and ready when I need it.
For a first time droid user, savvy enough but still can learn new tricks, which one would you recommend... You have, you know the pros and cons... guide me in my decision...

    Yay, upgrade time!
mdram4x4 is right ... trying them out in a store will help you decide. I went into a Verizon store last week to look at the iPhone, and ended up narrowing it down to the Thunderbolt and the Incredible 2. Ha ha.
I chose the Inc 2 because my area won't have LTE for a while, I wanted global capabilities and the 4-inch screen is large enough for me. I'm very happy with my decision. The battery life is really good and it's plenty fast on 3G.
Good luck deciding. Come back and let us know what you got.

  • How to connect WPS (BlackBerry phone) on wi-fi with airport express ?

My boyfriend (not sold to Apple yet) wants to connect his BlackBerry phone on our wi-fi network.  Because it is WPS, it detects the network but I we don't know how to connect.  We need help !!!

If I were to connect the AirPort Extreme to my modem (DPC3825) via an Ethernet cable and then (wirelessly) connect my new iMac to the netowrk, would I receive 802.11ac or just b/g/n still?
802.11ac would be received by the iMac if it connected to the AirPort Extreme wireless signal....and....the iMac was in close proximity to the AirPort Extreme.
802.11ac uses the 5 GHz frequency, and these signals only work well then the router and computer are in the same room or have a line-of-sight relationship  to each other, or very close to that ideal.
In addition, when I connect the AirPort Extreme to my modem, will it create two networks
The AirPort Extreme will create a network with two bands or frequencies.....one  2.4 GHz for "b", "g" and "n" wireless devices and another band, the 5 GHz signal for "n" and "ac" devices.
If you assign the same name to  the AirPort Extreme network that you use for your existing network, and both routers are using the same wireless security settings and password, then everything will act like one "big" network.
If you assign a different name to the AirPort Extreme wireless network, then you will have two different networks....one produced by your existing router and the other produced by the AirPort Extreme.
If you move from one area to another, you will have to log off of one network and log back onto the other network.

  • I need help, I cant updat my blackberry curve 8520

I nee d help, I cant updat my blackberry curve 8520 everytime i go here in blackberry site and check for update my phone it says try again.. and no updates for your software, how is that? I have v4.6 please help meee

You do, for sure, have your BB data plan active and are able to get email, etc.?
That is required for updating to OS 5.0.
If the OS you downloaded is not specifically for the carrier that is branded on the device you will need to install the OS to the computer and then when you're done, delete the vendor.xml file located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader.
Then after you delete that, in that same apploader folder, is a file called Loader.exe.  Double click that to install the OS to your device.

Biggest screen out of the 4, not so great i3 processor (don't know if it makes much of a difference), plus risk of shipping from US and the product potentially having probems working in Australia in terms of compatabiliy, or for whatever reason..

    Toruk_Makto wrote:
If you want peace of mind I vote against imported C560. I am not sure C560 has worldwide warranty as first. It seems Idea and value AiO are not sold in Australia, so spare parts availability might be an issue in any case.
It looks nice, but overall engineering, cooling and (mechanical) parts quality is way behind ThinkCentre (M and E series).
If you are student, you can buy E73z at educational pricing directly from lenovo - the first option costs 863 or so then, not 899. If you will use it just for "normal" work, then i3 might be just fine (it is 100$ cheaper). Any M92z is also good choice (just CPUs are one generation old)
The M92z is now on sale on ebay for the next three days for $539.   That is a heck of a deal assuming it is not refurbished.  The only negative as Toruk mentioned is the processor is one generation old.  But I have an i5 processor in an M90z and I use it for the exact same things mentioned in the original post in this thread.  I don't have any issues.
The E73z is on sale on the Australian Lenovo website right now for $799.  It comes with everything probably neede including an i3 processor.
